IPOD to STEREO

I have the Video/Audio AV Cables, and i plug then into the audio inlets in the back of the stereo, but what does the stereo need to be set on? Tuner? Disk? And if its on Tuner, how do i get it to work, AM ? FM? Which works best?

On the stereo, select whichever input you connected the cables to.
For example, if you connected the cables to the tuner inputs, select "tuner" on your stereo.
It matters not whether it's FM or AM.
Word of warning. If you have any inputs marked "phono", *do not* use these. They are for connecting a record deck (turntable). Always use a line level input such as cd/tuner/av/tape in etc.

  • Ipod to stereo sound loss

I've been searching a bit for this, but has anyone noticed some serious sound loss when connecting ipod to stereo or television and trying to play music? I've used it for TV and I didn't notice any major loss, but for music (using the standard headphone jack to white and red plug), it *****! If I turn the stereo up full ball it still lacks any punch (on a cd it would deafen me at this level). I want to buy a car stereo with an aux imput, but don't want to if it's not going to be loud. The ipod is new, so just want to know if this is normal?

I have used all of my 4 iPods as the main source for music connected to my living room stereo for years throug a docking station. (Not through the headphone output.)For my stereo i think the "latin" equalizer setting is closest to CD sound, but that varies. The sound is very close to CD sound and I do not lack any punch. I am using the same set up in the car and no problems there either. With the latest docing station the volume on the iPod has to be on full, but it automatically goes to full volume when docking.
By the way, I am using it with to stereos, One Denon and one Bose.
    Regards,
    Trond

  • Connecting iPod to stereo with fiber optic cable???

My kingdom for the right answer to this question.
I'm brand new to the whole iPod scene. Just bought an 80GB video iPod and I want to use it with my stereo system instead of the old bulky 200 CD carousel.
I see that I can connect the iPod and stereo using the AV connection kit, but isn't there a way to get digital audio sound quality with some sort of fiber optic connection?
Will the Monster iCable Fiber Optic Kit work? It doesn't list the iPod as a use, but it sure looks like the non-Fiber optic end would fit into the iPod headphone jack.
If anyone knows, I'd greatly appreciate the help. I'm a total newb about this and haven't had any luck with my online searches.
    Thanks in advance.

No you cant do it but

  • IPod Car Stereo Connection

I just recently bought an aftermarket Kenwood, iPod compatable stereo for my car. When I plug in the iPod to the stereo (it has the modulator {direct connection, not FM}), all it plays is the first song on my list. I can't go from one album to the next. Did I set up my iPod wrong, or is it something else? Please help...thank you!!!

I just spoke to Apple tech support. The techie said that they changed the pin configuration and that he did not know of any workaround for in-car charging. He also said that the 4th gen Nano (out of the box) and the 3rd gen Nano (after the latest software update) will no longer go into standby mode when connected to non-apple interfaces. He also said that they are working on it and the standby mode should work again after the next software update.

  • What Is The Best Way To Connect Ipod To Stereo Reciever With High Quality?

I recently purchased an 80 gig and am a newbie. I ripped all my music at around 280kbps to retain good audio quality when playing in my car and home theatre system. There are tons of accesories out there (docks, jacks, etc) which is the highest quality to connect my Yamaha receiver. I would think a connection to the bottom of my ipod would be of a higher quality rather than using the headphone jack. Any suggestions would be great. I was thinking about using the monster itv link but mostly for audio. thanks

OK - So now that you have all completely ignored the original question - in hopes of proving your manly-hood....
Does anyone have an answer to the original question....
"What is the best way to connect to a high end home stereo to retain the best sound?"
For sure any connection going through the headphone jack will be a big step back - enough so that you would easily hear a sound quality loss in doing so.
For the few of you who would like to argue/bicker/rant on the nominal sound quality loss....keep on doing so, but for those who actually have some respectable advice we would love to hear it.
For the record, I tend to hear just outside the normal human auditory range...
To help myself put it to rest already... a few years back I decided to conduct my own little listening test.
I took 6 different common ripping modalities (from lossless - to - 128kbps in both MP3 & AAC.... then transfered all of them in order to a blank. Used the same song for each - the song chosen opened with a few clean crisp bars of high freq. music, followed by an instant explosion/drop into a tight & low bassline.
The final cutoff that was achieved before I was unable to detect an audible difference was 198 VBR AAC. Having convinced myself that there was the ever sooooooo slight difference b/t 198 & 256, I went with my current ripping status of 256.... Just incase my audible range should become finally honed with age (yeah, like that is really going to happen) !
This test was run over a Yamaha DSP receiver, running at a constant 110w per channel (w/a max of 220w). The speaker setup was a full surround set of Klipsch Reference Series..... each speaker housing 2 x 6.5 woofer (each housing 2 x 1" Titanium tweeters) And sitting along side the 5 surrounds was/is a 150w continuous 12in. Subwoofer.
Now I am hardly stating that I have hearing as good as some of you extremely technically profound music enthusiasts out there, but for the majority of people making comments about sound quality, and lack there of - when played over a $120/40w Audiovox radio.... I'm sorry, but I would have to side on that of......"Hogwash, that you can hear a difference!"
So.... if possible would someone please offer some advice on a dock or cable connection that will allow us to enjoy the music we ripped at whatever
    so-called range we did!
For those interested in seeing who could hit the further bullseye with their eyes closed, You win!!! Now can you help us?

  • Ios 4.2.1 won't connect to 'made for iPod' car stereo

I wish I'd NOT updated from ios 3.1.3. Then I could listen to music on my iPod (touch, 2nd gen, 8gb) in my car via the car stereo (Kenwood KDC-W6541U) USB port with not problems.
Ever since I updated to ios 4.0 (and 4.1 which didn't solve the problem either) whenever I plug my iPod the car stereo display flashes 'reading'. I've checked the Kenwood website, but there are no updates for the stereo.
I'd hoped the 4.2.1 update would've resolve the problem, but it didn't. The main reason I'd bought an iPod was to listen music in the car!
Recently I've not bought anything from iTunes, whats the point as I can't listen to it.
I'm getting disillusioned. I've tried plugging/unplugging, switching on/off, resetting, etc, etc with no success. Anyone got any ideas?
Apple, get this sorted, please! ios 3.1.3 worked fine.

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. i have a kenwood kvt-514 head unit. once i updated my ipod touch to v4.2.1 some songs didn't play, no album artwork was displayed, ect. i tried doing all of the above and nothing. hopefully apple is working this out.

  • Bad sound when connecting iPod to stereo

Can anyone help with this one?
I am trying to connect my iPod to my stereo receiver. I have the 5th generation 30gb iPod. I hooked it up to my stereo (Sony str-de825) with a monster cable through the tape & video inputs and it it sounded low and muddy. When I turned it up the sound the receiver blew.
I now have a new reciever and bought a dock for the iPod, and I am getting the same crappy sound through the stereo and don't want to blow it again (obviously) but would like to be able ot use my iPod in my stereo. Does anyone have any idea of what's going on?

  • Connecting ipod to stereo - music comes from ipod not speakers

I am trying to connect my new ipod nano to a stereo system through the docking system on the stereo. The stereo is able to turn on the ipod and play music - however i hear the music playing through the ipod speakers and not the stereo. Radio or CD play fine through the speakers.
Is the problem the docking system or is there some way in the ipod to tell it to output to an external system? earphones work fine.
    thanks for any help.

I am having the same problem and yes, my instruction booklet states that my automobile is capable of this. When I connect, nothing happens.

  • Connecting iPOD to stereo receiver

Sorry if this has been asked before but I couldn't find anything posted.
I have an 80 gig Fifth Generation iPOD and was wondering if there was a way to connect it to my stereo receiver by use of RCA plugs or other wired means??? I know I could use a radio transmitter but I haven't found one that works very well.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Rich
PS - Although this is my first time posting a question, you guys and gals have helped me countless times after reading your posts. You're the best!!!

    Hi Rich,
Yes you can buy a simple patch cable from Radio Shack that gives you the stero headphone jack on one side and a pair of RCA jacks on the other and go to your stereo. I have found with mine, using one of those cassette adapters, I do have to crank up the iPod volume to almost max to make it sound the same volume on the car stereo as the other sound sources (radio, CD player, etc.). But other than that, it works fine.
Like this one for $7... http://tinyurl.com/ypo8o6
Or you can buy one of the fancier made for iPod docks that will give you this same ability with some also providing charging power to the ipod as well.

  • Connecting iPod to stereo and retaining control.

When I plug the iPod touch into my stereo (Yamaha RX-V671) via USB, I lose all control.  There is a picture of an iPod Nano on the iPod Touch's screen and no way to get rid of it or do anything else.  Is there any way to fix this?  I'd like to be able to skip songs, replay, restart playback, change playlists, etc.

    Instructions?  What a concept! :-)
Strangely enough I could find the manuals for my Yamaha CD player and even the old cassette deck, but not the fairly new receiver.  Anyway I looked the manual up on line and I see that I have to have the TV turned on and I should see a control panel.
I have to leave right now, but will try this tonight.  I'm confident it will solve the problem and thanks very much for your help.

  • Connect Ipod to stereo

When I connect my Ipod to my home stereo (with jack and RCA cable), only one speaker is working (sometimes both, but very rarely). I tried to use the dock but it is not any better: I can't figure out why I have this problem: I double checked and everything seemed to be plugged correctly. Any idea?

    Double check your Audio program, ; try using your headset and listen for both audio channels;
It could be a list of things that could cause your problem.
Report back on what you've tried and give results??
Texcavator You need to post your problem as new case, otherwise it'will get confusing.
Though it appears your A/V cables are bad!

  • Ipod to Stereo- Low Volume from Receiver

I have connected my Ipod to my stereo receiver (Pioneer VSX-1015Tx) using a Monster Ipod to RCA. I have tried using various inputs on the receiver, but in each I have to crank up the volume to get a good sound. Does the Ipod need an amplifier? Does a dock do this?

You should be able to connect the ipod to the AUX, CD, or Tape input with the volume on the ipod at max. and not have any distortion using the same receiver volume setting that you use with other inputs. Have you tried any other devices on these inputs? Have you tried another cable? What is the source of the music files you have on the ipod?

  • IPod/iPhone/Stereo Setup Question

I have an iPod Touch 3G, and an iPod Classic. Someday I might have an iPhone 4, someday, when I switch phones or Apple decides to make a 64GB model, whichever comes first I have three Universal Docks, connected to my computer, a pair of RCA in jacks on my main stereo system, and the same on a pair of amplified speakers. I also have a Creative Xmod system that allows for wireless broadcast of music from computer or iPod or whatever you can stick a mini RCA into, out to whatever you can connect the remote units to on the other ends (i.e. powered speakers). It's pretty cool. And, I have a wireless router. Right now, I stick the iPod in the Dock connected to my stereo, select a playlist, and walk away. But I'm looking to take that to the next level.
Here's what I'm looking to do...
Along the lines of the Remote application that's free in the App Store, I want to somehow control the music library on my iPod Touch (not the iTunes library on my computer), remotely, to change songs, playlists, etc. and the like. I have what appears to be many pieces of a pie that might help me get there, but I can't seem to put it altogether.
I can do all of this with the Remote application and the Creative Xmod, which allows me to control the iTunes library on my main computer, broadcast it wireless down to the stereo system, and control it via the iPod Touch. Problem is, it reeks havoc on my wireless network, and vice versa - the music gets choppy with normal internet traffic, I've tried any and all possible adjustments, it is what it is.
I seem to have enough potential pieces to make this work, so...how do I make this work? Is there an app like VNC that would allow me to connect an iPod Touch and an iPhone 4 (someday :)), or is there simply an app that would allow me to control the music library on an iPod or iPhone from another iPhone or iPod?
    Thanks in advance.

To activate your iPod so you can use it you need (per Apple's 4G spec page):
    System requirements
    USB 2.0
    iTunes 10 or later
Mac: Mac OS X v10.5.8 or later
PC: Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP Home or Professional (SP3) or later
Broadband Internet access required; fees may apply.
It says you need an internet connection for activation.
You can't use the iPod before it is activated.
Can't you find a computer to use for activation? Just do not sync to that computer since that creates problems when you connect to another computer.
