Ipod touch automatically turns on

I am having trouble with my ipod touch. I have had it only for a couple of months but I noticed that it has been automatically turning on by itself. It will be sitting on my desk and next thing I know I can hear music coming out of the headphones. Any suggestion on how I can fix that? I tried to reset it but that didn't help.

Mine does it to....only with the mic headphones plugged in.

My 6th generation iPod nano automatically turns off (=stops the music) when I push het sleep/wake button or when screen turns black for power saving mode. Does anyone know how to solve this ?
I have already tried resetting, connecting to PC/iTunes to check the software version, turning off/on, I don't have any inspiration anymore.
    Thanks for your suggestions!

    Hi VeerleD,
If your iPod touch unexpectedly powers off, you may want to use the steps in this article to troubleshoot -
iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting (The steps apply for the iPod touch) -
    Specifically -
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • My ipod touch automatically presses the home button

my ipod touch automatically presses the home button causing apps to close, appswitching tray to pull up, and turning to spotlight search. i dont think my home button is broken; i can press and release it no problem. could this be a software problem?
    thanks!

I would try the standard fixes inorder:
    - Reset the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    - Restore the iPod via iTunes on your computer.  First from backup and if problem persists restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

my ipod touch wont turn on ive tried restoring it but every time i do it just says its waiting for the ipod to respond. meanwhile my ipod is no longer a black screen but the apple logo with a loading bar underneath that after leaving for 8 hours hasnt moved.

    Try:
    - Another cable
    - Another USB port
    - Reboot the computer
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My old 1st gen ipod touch wont turn on and makes a clicking sound when I plug it in.

My old 1st gen ipod touch wont turn on and makes a clicking sound when I plug it in. The ipod doesnt turn on when I plug it into the wall, even if I let it charge, and itunes won't recognize it. I have tried to reset it with the home and power buttons. Whats wrong and how can I fix it? I think it might be the memory or the battery. What could the clicking sound be related to? Thanks

Try placing the iPod in recovery mode and then try restoring the iPod.  For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
After that I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • 1st Gen. iPod touch wont turn on. Home button doesn't work. Can't reset.

Hi there.  My 1st generation iPod touch wont turn on.  The battery has drained completely, and the few times this happened in the past, I could just reset it by holding the home and top buttons, the iPod would turn on, I could plug it in, and then it would charge--no problems.  However, now the home button does not work, so I cannot reset it. When I plug it in to the charger, the Apple logo appears for about 20 seconds, then disappears.  Also, if I hold the top button for about 2 seconds, the same thing happens (Apple logo appears for about 20 seconds, then disappears).  So, it doesn't turn on, wont reset due to the home button not working, and can't connect to the computer or iTunes.  However, it still has some life in it because the Apple logo always appears when it's plugged in or when I hold the top button.  Can anybody help?  Thanks.

  • How can I get my ipod touch to turn on or to charge?

How can I get my ipod touch to turn on or charge?

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

  • When connected to my 2014 Buick Enclave, the iPod touch automatically begins to repeat songs.

Hi - When connected to my 2014 Buick Enclave via USB, the repeat function on the iPod touch automatically engages and the songs repeat. I have to manually disengage the repeat function to finish an album, then do it again when the next album begins to repeat. There is no "repeat" button on the Enclave's system, only "shuffle", which works fine with the iPod. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

First I would go the the car system's support site.
    Next:
    - Reset the car system.
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes

  • What do I do if my ipod touch wont turn on

My ipod touch wont turn on...my daughter was using it and it just went black.  It has been needing to be charged more frequently lately...

Do you see it charging? If it does then what does the screen show? Or try holding the power button for a few seconds, what shows on the screen?
Else just press and hold the Power and Home buttons together until you see the apple logo.
