IPod touch. No sound through charging/ connection cable. What gives?

I just fired up my iPod touch 64gb and connected it to my PC like usual.  No sound through the connecting cable.  Switched to a different cable; same problem.  Rebooted iPod; same problem.  Rebooted PC; same problem.
Headphones work fine.  iPod speaker works fine.  Checked my setting on the iPod; didn't see an obvious problem.  What am I missing??
Running iOS 5.0.1 through Win 7.
Thanks for your help.

The cable is the standard USB docking cable that is included with every iPT.  I have been using them for years and audio data is sent to the PC via this connection, just the same as if it was connected to an external docking device.  What is different is that is suddenly have no sound through this cable when I did before.  I have done a hard reboot of the iPT, connected it to a different PC, changed cables, etc.  Sound only comes through the heaphone port, not the docking port at the bottom of the iPT.

  • My ipod touch 4g will not charge no matter what i plug it in to

and every thing i try will charge every other ipod i have and the troubleshooting doesn't have a fix for it, any suggestions?

Take a moment to reset your iPod....hold down the sleep and home key,  past the power down slider and until you see the silver apple. Let it  reboot and try the trouble shooting again.
If you've replicated the issue with multiple chargers, cords and outlets (enough to rule out any single one of those devices being the source) then I'd make an appointment at your local apple store because it's possible that the charging port on your iPod has gone bad or maybe your battery. Both issues are not user servicible.

My iPod touch 4 went through the washing machine what do I do????
you can see water through the cameras.

Dry best you can with towel and shaking and then follwo these instructions:

You may have to periodically change the rice.  Do not turn the iPod on or charge it until it is dry.

  • Can you get an virus or trojaner through the connection-cable (PC) from your iPod touch?

I had an trojaner on my PC earlier and my iPod touch 4G was connected to my computer. Is it possible for the trojaner or viruses in general to make their way through the connection cable or something? If a photo or something wasn't infected. I mean sync-wise, etc.

It would be very difficult for a virus or trojan to get from the iPod to your PC via USB. Attaching a virus to any media file such as a photo or music track is very, very difficult, and all known exploits that would do this were blocked a long time ago. Attaching a trojan would not be possible. Unless there's a new exploit I haven't heard of, only if a trojan program was attached to an email and from there transferred to an app that could then be synced to your computer would it be possible malware come from your iPod. I think that rather unlikely and that your trojan got into your PC from some other source.
    Regards.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

My ipod touch 5th generation wont charge or turn on at all,
i upgraded to iOS 6.1.3 and after that my ipod started having trouble charging, at first i though the lightning cable was the problem so i bought 2 more lightning cable chargers and my ipod still would'nt charge, so it died. now the only thing my ipod does is when i try to turn it on it shows the apple logo and then the screen goes off and does it again for a few times and then the screen stays off and my ipod gets really hot but wont turn on for the rest of the day help!!

The hotness indicate a hardware problem.

I recently updated my iPod touch to sync through iCloud - now can't connect to the internet through wifi, my macbook air is working as we speak. ive tried 'forgetting this network" in settings; tried turning off and on again; and pulling my hair out! The last was equally useless and a little painful!

    - Resetting the iPOd. Nothing will be lost

    - See:

    - Try another cable if available
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.

  • Should i let my ipod touch have a full charge whenever i connect it to a computer for itunes

    Hi
I would like to know if i should always let my ipod touch get a full charge whenever i connect it to a computer. For example when i just want to add a few songs during the day and my ipod has just half the battery left. And is normal to get a full charge in just to hours (ipod touch 4g)? It defInately shows a plug and not a lightning sign.
When i got my ipod touch i didnt let it charge to a full charge when i connected it to itunes in the beginning. Does that affect my ipods battery life?
    Thanks for any help
    Anjy

No, that's no necessary and it won't effect the life of the battery.
