Ipod touch not connecting to wi-fi

I purchased my ipod touch back in January.  Up to a few weeks ago I could get on the internet with the wi-fi anywhere without a problem.  Now I can not.  I can not get on at home or elsewhere.  I have tried everything that has been suggested.    Is there anything else that might work before I take it in.  It does show the the correct internet but I can not connect to it.  I keep putting in the password and it says that it can not connect.

Have u tried reseting the network settings (this deletes all remembered passkeys). If u havent Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings (if required enter your passcode) the Apple logo will pop up for a minute or two then u should be good to go.

  • IPod Touch not connecting - all support methods tried.

I'd just like to say right off the bat that I've already tried every method on the support pages that has anything to do with an iPod not connecting or not being read into iTunes. That means I've reset the iPod, completely uninstalled the reinstalled iTunes(several times), reinstalled the drivers in the Device Manager, etc.
So, here's the deal: I'm currently running iTunes 8 on Windows XP 32-Bit. My iPod Touch used to be able to connect to my computer, but for some reason a few months ago it started having problems. When it first stopped working, it showed up in the Device Manager as "Apple iPod" under Imaging Devices. However, "Apple Mobile Device Support" showed up under Universal Serial Bus Controllers.
Since it was reading the device as a camera, I found online that to fix it you install the USBAAPL driver onto the iPod by manually updating the driver. The Wizard did not see the USBAAPL driver as an improvement on the current driver and thus refused to install it. I therefore tried deleting the current driver, but it still only reinstalled the generic usb driver. After much fiddling around, "Apple Mobile Device Support" in the USB Controllers section eventually changed to "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver." I tried updating this driver, and that made "Apple iPod" stop appearing in the Imaging Devices category.
Where I'm at now is, every time I plug in the iPod, the only change in Device Manager is that "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver" shows up in USB Controllers. When I plug the iPod in, iTunes freezes up for a minuter or two even though every other program is running perfectly fine, which makes me think that it's recognizing the iPod on some level. But it still won't show up in iTunes and (now that it isn't seen as a camera anymore) won't show up in My Computer anymore.
Does anybody have any clue how I might . . . you know . . . make use of my investment? Or is Apple just selling very expensive paperweights now? Like I've said, I've been trying fix after fix from all the support pages that have anything to do with the iPod not connecting.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

It really sounds like you spent too much time fiddling with drivers and have gotten things really messed up.
I would start this way if it was my machine:
    1. In the Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs - remove everything Apple. That includes iTunes, Apple mobile device services, QuickTime and anything else.
    2. Reboot your computer
    3. Download and install the latest version of iTunes. Let the software do the full install and don't mess with Custom install if offered.
    4. Reboot again.
    5. Try your iPod and see what happens. If your iPod is still not recognized, use this article to troubleshoot http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1567
    6. If it is recognized as a camera, use this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1857
If it continues to be a problem, you are probably going to have to do some registry editing to clear out the errors or possibly a reinstall of XP. Hopefully not.

  • IPOD TOUCH NOT CONNECTING TO ITUNES SOLUTION !!!!!!

    Hi all,
like a lot of us on here I got an ipod touch for xmas, yet when I connected it to my new laptop which runs vista itunes would not find my ipod touch although the laptop found it as a camera. My old laptop that runs xp however had no such problem and my ipod touch connected to it and itunes without a problem so I knew the problem wasn't with my touch. After trying different things for about a month today I came across this solution it worked for me and I hope it works for you.
The problem is that windows is using its own microsoft driver for the ipod touch rather than the apple one. This is how I changed my driver for the apple one and jumped with joy as I heard my touch beep and finally show up in itunes.
PLEASE REMEMBER THESE INSTRUCTIONS ARE FOR VISTA BUT SHOULD BE MORE OR LESS THE SAME ON XP.
    1. Click on the windows/start button and goto control pannel
    2. Once in control pannel click classic view if you are not already on it
    3. Then from the control pannel options click on Device Manager
    4. Device Manager will open with a list of devices
    5. look down the list and you should see one called mobile devices click the
plus sign next to it and apple ipod should show up under it.
    6. Click on apple ipod and a box will pop up click on the driver tab at the top
of this box & then click update driver from within this box.
    7. A new box will open with two options, choose the second one entitled
"browse my computer for driver software"
    8. Another new box will pop up and in the box under "search for driver
software in this location" type c:/ (asuming drive c is your main harddrive)
or use the browse button next to this box to locate your harddrive.
    9. Now simply click next and fingers crossed if your computer is like mine it
should search your harddrive find the apple driver, install it and you
should hear your ipod beep as its recognised by itunes.
Like I say it worked for me I hope it works for you.
    GOOD LUCK !!!

  • Ipod touch not connecting to my computer at all.

my march 2008 first-gen ipod touch will not connect to my macbook at all. there is battery life.
when i connect it, nothing happens - the itunes icon does not bob up to open, the ipod does not begin to charge, and it does not appear in itunes at all.
i have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes.
i have made sure that all my software is up-to-date: i am on leopard 10.5.6, my itunes is the latest version, and my ipod software is 2.2.1. what do i do ?
i am very despaired as i cannot live without my ipod! it has 1336 songs on it and i was going to load more. i cannot bear to lose all my songs by restoring the darn thing.
    your help is appreciated. please.
thank you so, so much in advance.
feel free to ask me about any other details.

Does your ipod charge if you use the adapter instead your usb ports? If yes, try to put it into recovery mode and restore. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
This will take all of your music off your ipod, but, as mentioned by luvlabs, it is still on your mac after the restore.
If it doesn't charge using the adapter and different cables you should make an appointment with your nearest Applestore or call Apple to service your ipod.

  • IPod Touch - Not connecting to iTunes

My iPod suddenly will not connect with iTunes.  I have it connected to my computer with usb cable, but nothing seems to work. Has anybody else ever had this problem?

My problem is slightly different, though not less frustrating. When I open iTunes I can connect my Touch but when I go back to Home on the touch, or it go to standby, even with the Keep Connected on I loose the connection and the iTouch doesn't find my iTunes again. The only way to get out of this is to restart iTunes, then everything works again. I am using the iTouch to my media PC to avoid having to turn on my TV each time I want to play music.
I have reinstalled the iTouch again, still the same problem

  • My new ipod touch not connected to internet - How do I do?

Yesterday, I bought a new 8Gb ipod touch but after I put in details & asking to pay for internet vis card detail, My card go temporarily declined (got sorted out wiht my bank today) but I cannot go back to card details.
I tried everything to get it connected and I don't know how to get it connected. I tried to get help from Apple support site but cannot get any help from them!
I have in mind to get it back as very useless - I am very angry and disappointed not to get any internet on my new ipod. I want my money back!!!!

I do not understand about having to pay for internet. The iPod has no native internet. To connect to the internet it needs a wifi hotspot/router. Are you trying to connect to a wifi hotspot that chargers money and requires a credit card? If so then you need to talk to the providers. If that is not it then provide more information.

  • Why is my camera and ipod touch not connecting to my macbook pro?

My computer is not recognizing my camera and ipod are connected by the usb cable.  But when I connect a usb memory stick it does come up on the desktop. Originally when I bought the computer in May 2011 the ipod touch did work.  I am wondering if I accidentally touched something to make it not work and how I can fix it to make it work again.

Please detail all you have done to resolve your issue.  Need this information so that the users can avoid the "been there, done that" scenario type responses.  This is to avoid repeating the troubleshooting you may have already tried.  Thank you.

  • IPod touch not connecting to iTunes or computer and has a "connect to iTunes" message when powered on

So, I got my iPod 3rd gen 8gb off craigslist, I had a chance to test it, it worked fine then. I reset it and then tryed to connect to iTunes with my sisters' iPod touch 4th gen usb cable, and it didn't work. I tryed it again on my moms desktop and it says that the USB device is not recognised, so the USB cable DOES work. I downloaded iTunes on the desktop computer, and still, didn't work. I ordered a new cord, maybe it will work, but who knows. Also, I contacted the people I got the iPod from, they said they had reset it and it connected to iTunes just fine.
A nice detailed answer would be appreciated.

Ahh, just un-installed the Apple Mobile Device thing in my Programs and Features, then uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it and it worked, I got the driver in and did the thing on the page you gave me and it works like a dream. Thank you!!

  • Why will my iPod Touch not connect to iTunes

I backed up my iPod Touch 4G before updating the OS. Now, when I have iTunes open and plug in my iPod it says it will not connect because it could not find the pairing record. When I have the iPod connected to the computer before I open iTunes it shows up. What is the problem?
By the way, my iPod updated from OS 5.0 to OS 5.0.1.

  • IPod Touch Not Connecting to Windows at all

My 2nd Gen 32 GB iPod Touch is not connecting to my Windows XP computer. I've restarted the computer and the iPod Touch, and still no connection. I've tried connecting the iPod to another computer in the house and nothing.
When connecting the iPod Touch via the USB cable that came with it, the usual sound "Duh-Dah" does not play as if an external drive has been connected.
Any ideas on how to solve? Is there something wrong with the iPod Touch?

I followed the link, which had me download a fix for SP3 from Microsoft, restart in Safe Mode to complete, and still not recognizing the iPod. (my USB ports recognize cameras, USB drives, external hard drives, other mp3 players, printers)
The iPod seems to be charging, but not even being recognized as an incorrect driver/camera/anything.
Could it be a problem with the iPod? USB Cord provided when purchased? drivers on the computer? all USB ports located on the computer?
Note: this is the very first time ever to connect any iPod to this computer. Even though my "minimum requirements" are met, could it be the actual computer?
    Any/All ideas are greatly appreciated!

  • Ipod touch not connecting to itunes 8.1, tried everything

Hi, I was just wondering if someone could help me please?
After going from forum to forum, post to post for days now, I really need someones help.
I have an Ipod touch 2nd generation, and I recently updated to itunes 8.1, a few days later I plugged in my ipod to do the usual syncing, however its notbeing picked up by itunes like it usually does.
Its being picked up bu image capture and iphoto though, so I followed the instructions to change the prefs in image capture to no application and so on, and still nothing.
Ive uninstalled and reinstalled itunes, about 10times.
Ive reset my ipod completely, and restored it.
And while trying to restore it on my mac I had error 1611, so being scared I installed itunes on to my windows xp and it restored straightaway (i must add ive never used it on my windows comp before, as i always use my mac osx 10.4.11).
Id really appreciate it if someone could help me, Im nowhere near an apple store.
    Many thnaks Chrissy

I honestly think you may have created your own problem by trying to sync with different versions of iTunes on two different computers. Maybe not a good idea.
However, since things seem to be a bit messed up, I'd pick one computer to work with until I got it working and then update the second. I would back up my library (or you can use Time Machine's backups), completely remove iTunes from the computer, download and reinstall 8.1. Here's how to do it: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1747 and http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1224.
After you have reinstalled iTunes, sync your touch. Once everything is working, do the same thing to the other computer.

  • IPOD TOUCH NOT WORKING WITH ITUNES

    I am using:
iPod Touch 16GB 1.1.4 (With $25 Software Upgrade)
    Windows Vista Premium Edition
    iTunes 7.6.2
Whenever I connect my iPod, the device connect sound is made and it shows up in the my computer window, but it will not show up or sync with iTunes.
I HAVE ALREADY TRIED THE FOLLOWING:
    Reseting the computer
    Reseting the iPod
    Using a different USB port
    Using a different cable
Erasing ALL of the iPod's contents (Yes I lost my $25 update as well)
Restarting the "APPLE MOBILE DEVICE SUPPORT" in the "systems" application
...As well as many other things, all with absolutely NO results.
I have tried to manage my ipod through other programs, nothing seems to work. I connected the iPod to a different computer and everything worked fine.
I ASSUME the problem has something to do with the iPod Touch's drivers; for whatever reason they might be corrupted or installed incorrectly, thus preventing the iPod from automatically reinstalling them as well as preventing the possibility of syncing.
My question is, how can I reinstall the drivers without having the iPod touch do it automatically?
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

    I fixed the problem myself.
If anyone else has this same problem and is looking to fix it, here is what I did.
I found this on another site:
"Okay well I spent about an hour on the phone with Apple trying to fix this problem. The guy I talked to seemed to have delt with this problem before. He tould me that Apple was getting numerous calls about the iPod touch not connecting with iTunes. So here is the solution that worked for me.
The first thing you must do it uninstall iTunes and Quicktime using the controll pannel, add/remove hardware, on your windows computer. Once you have uninstalled both of thoes programes go ahead and look for anything else that is Apple and uninstall them as well. There should be an Apple updater or driver that is very critical to uninstall, this was the cause of iTunes not recognizing the new iPod Touch. Next make shure you have the very latest update for Windows on your computer, you can check this on Microsofts web page. Finnaly once you are shure you have UNINSTALLED EVERYTHING that says Apple, iTunes, or Quick time restart your computer and MAKE SHURE THAT YOUR IPOD IS NOT CONNECTED TO YOUR COMPUTER. Then download the newest version of iTunes and install it. Once the installation is complete go ahead and connect the iPod Touch and everything should work.
I am not shure if this will work for everyone but in my situation it worked. I hope it helps some of you out there!!"
That worked like a ******* charm. Hope this helps.
