IPOD VIDEO PROBLEMS

I have a 30gb ipod video. When I plug it in my computer it plays. When I use my earphones or my brand new monster fm transmitter it doesn't play at all. What can be the problem and how can I fix it?

Headphone jack is broken, volume is turned all the way down on the iPod, the Classic has a Mute feature maybe, ????

  • 30GB 5G iPod Video Problems.

    Hey, all.
I just got a new fifth generation 30GB iPod Video and am having trouble getting the video on it.
I've got all my songs on it, but iTunes won't seem to let me add videos into the library. I followed the instructions in the manual at apple.com, but i've had no luck.
iTunes doesn't give an error when I try to import a video file, it simply doesn't import it. No messages or anything.
Does anyone have any ideas on what I need to do to get videos on my iPod? Thanks.

    Well first...

    way to help you
You won't find that anywhere else, specially in a
    Creative Zen
    okay then...
maybe you'd want to use Utility Disc if you have access to an iMac
if not try to use the Diagnostic Mode
    built into the iPod Video
    - first reset your iPod (menu and center hold)
    - once you see the Apple logo, hold in menu and previous/rewind button together until you hear a beep and
a white screen that looks like an old computer will display
    - you are now in diagnostic mode
    - don't use auto test if it asks you
    - select IO
    - then, select HardDrive
    - then, select the HDSpecs
    - once you're done with the HDspecs
    select the HDSMARTData
if problem persists rest your iPod for half a day
    then try the 5 R's
    if problem still persists
    try calling Apple Support

  • Need help with ipod video, problems with blinking screen, wont charge

    Hello,
I'm a new owner of an ipod video, and I've had it for not even two weeks and haven't used it but 3 or 4 times, and I went to turn it on and nothing happened, so I figured the battery died. Then I hooked it up to the usb and computer (windows xp OS) and nothing except a fast blinking white screen and a low noise, not music though. It wont charge, and I even reinstalled everything and used all the tips online- any words of advice except to take it to an apple store?

Apple decided to hide the user library folder with OS10.7. You can get to it by using the menu.
    Quit Illustrator.
    Method one....
In the Finder choose Go > Go To Folder and type "~/Library" (no quotes) and hit OK.
    Your Library folder will open.
Then navigate to ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator CS5 Settings
Move that Settings folder to your desktop.
Restart Illustrator and try exporting again.
If it works as expected, you can trash teh Settings folder on your desktop.
Since you're removing preferences, items like Scratch Disk settings will need to be reconfigured in Illustrator if you've altered them from the default settings.
    Second method.....
Hold Command-Option-Shift when you launch Illustrator.
    Preferences will be removed.
You won't get any sort of dialog or window confirming this, it just happens.
    Reason for two methods.
Method one allows you to put the settings folder back if yoru problem is not cured by removing it. It also allows you to move items back to the new Settings folder that is created (like Workspaces).

  • IPod video problems with audio

I recently got a 30 GB iPod video. I have tried to add videos to it, but sort of unsuccesfully. Of the four videos on there, 3 don't have audio.
The only video that has video and audio is a .mov, and yet the other .mov files that I tried to put on, wouldn't even convert.
The other files are .mpg, and they converted and transfered on perfectly, except there is no audio. The video looks great, but you can't hear anything.
Has anyone else had these problems? Any advice/help is appreciated!

  • IPod Video problem with songs not playing

I received a 30GB iPod video for christmas today and accidently made a mistake while configuring it. Since I had an old iPod I figured that i wouldn't have to insert the enclosed CD and therefore I connected my iPod to my computer. The iPod icon never came up on my desktop so, left with no other choice i had to unplug it with the dreaded "do not disconnect" on the screen. Now, I can put songs on the iPod but it won't play them. The time bar at the bottom of the iPod screen simply sits at :00 as long as i leave the iPod on. HELP!!

  • Convert Selection For iPod--Video Problems

I've got video in iTunes, that's not the problem. I've checked, iTunes and QuickTime are both up-to-date. When I try and sync the videos to my 80gig iPod, it tells me that they can not be synced because they are not the right format. They're all .mp4 format and Apple lists that as compatible for an iPod. When I right click on the video and click on 'Convert Selection for iPod', it converts it, but I only get the audio with a blank white screen and no video. I've followed the Apple tutorial and they're video clip works when I convert it. I went to the DivX website and downloaded the newest version of it and installed everything but the DivX player. It still won't work. What should I do?

I think I was able to resolve this myself after some trial and error. It looks like it is all in the name of the file. I've gotten some files to transfer after going into the Get Info section and updating the name (usually shorten the name or take out non-letter/number/# characters and then get the filename on disk to match.

    Hi All,
I just boughts my 60gb ipod this weekend. yay! I seem to have the 60gb ipod 1.1 update video hanging/freezing, then comes back with no audio after several seconds problem that everyone is posting all over the web about. It is happening on most any large video file I put on it.
The fix seems to be to backdate the ipod software version to 1.0, but I can't find it on my software CD. Does anyone know where to get it from, or another solution?

I have not confirmed if that download link works (from that message). If it does, you can follow the rest of those instructions or simply restore the iPod using that updater...
    Restore the iPod
And then reload all the songs.

    Hi,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
What are you using to create the video? You might want to look at QuickTime - Creating Video for iPod, Exporting iMovie HD to iPod, and Syncing Videos to Your iPod.

  • ATTENTION! POSSIBLE FIX FOR iPod VIDEO PROBLEMS

For all of you out there who may be experiencing INSANE problems with your new iPod, this may help. We had a ton of issues with a brand new 60g iPod tonight, Christmas present blah blah blah same as everyone that has questions here. Anyhow, after hours and much cursing and my eyelid twitch going mad, we got the dang thing to work! I am drawing the assumption that this thing was shipped screwed up and a restore MUST be done in order for it to work. (All the freezey, sad faced, file with an exclamation point, stuck screens, everything, we went through ALL of that!!!) BUT we had to use the old October version of the iPod updater that comes on the CD NOT the newest one available for DL from November. The November version gave us disk write errors and a resotre could not be done. Also, the iPod went into "disc mode" before we were able to restore it and apparently you can do this yourself (ours did automatically, don't ask me how) There was a link somewhere in this mess about it, you'll have to search on it I suppose. Anyhow, it really was f-ed up right out of the box, it would eject itself while in the middle of song transfers and then there would be nothing on the iPod, then it froze, then... well, it's been hours so I'll spare you the rest. It's working splendid now, so try a restore with the OLD version of iPod updater and good luck to you all. Merry Christmas.

I hear ya loud and clear, an hour after I posted ours did the same thing again.... Does it comfort you to know you're not the only one? Oh, and don't think it's your computer, we have two and it does the same bs on both. :0(

  • More Ipod Video Problems

    Greetings,
After reading these threads all night I guess that the ipod update 1.1 doesn't seem to user friendly. Several solutions involve rolling the update back to 1.0 using the disk that came with the ipod. In the event that the disk gets lost, where would one be able to get the 1.0 update? Any help would be appreciated.

The older iPod updates are available in the Downloads section. Just scroll through the list until you find it. It will be bundled with an older version of iTunes as well.

  • IPod Video 5th Generation Upload Video to IPod Problem.

    Hi all,
I recently purcase an IPod video, and I have problem with uploading video from Itunes to my IPod. Is working fine when I set it to automatically sync. But when I change the setting to manually and drag the video file into the Movies folder (Itunes) is doesn't seem to be upload to my IPod. Music is working fine. Any one know why.
    Thank heaps in advance.
      Windows XP

Well this is a hard one,
You need to do a few things.
First you need to get it ripped in a file format by using questionable-legality software (Cough* like mine*). Or you could use illegal-ish (but not really illegal) software such as Limewire. But if for SOME reason you already have it in that from. Here is what you do.
    Download this software.
    http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod/download.php
It is free and really easy to use. This will convert your movie file to compatible format, MPEG-4 (or Quick-Time).
Ok that was the easy part!
Now you will have to manually set the Audio bit rate to match to Video Bit rate in the Videora. The help tool will show you how to do it. You may get lucky and it will be the get the same bit rate for both. And then you are good to go! (it is worth a try, up to this point, some videos auto convert exactly to try it)
BUT IF NOT: (here we go)
To get the Audio and Video bit rate, change your view mode in the file folder where your original file is located to filmstrips. Now, hover your mouse over the video file, you should see Audio & Video bit rate. If not you will have to fiddle with Videora to get it right. Now change to bit rates in your options in Videora to match the original file. If the audio is off from the video, your sound will lag while your video plays or vise versa. Meaning, at about 5 min your audio could be off by over 45 sec.
Alright, you got your video. Now drag and drop it into Itunes, and drop it into your ipod. There you go! Easy right?
Well if you are lost after the “BUT IF NOT” part and you can’t get it working sufficiently before that point. My suggestion is to give up, unless you are great with computer fiddling.
So all in all it can be done, but it is VERY hard to do! I have done it, but it takes a while to work (2-3 hours-ish).
Hope this helped you, God Life

  • Ipod Video and Alpine CDE-9852 Problem.

I'm having problems with my new Alpine CDE-9852, and my black 60 gig ipod Video (1.11 software verison).
When I first pluged in my Ipod to the unit I got Error 01, my first thought was that I needed to install software on the ipod, but from reading the owners manual I didn't see anything about that.
With the car still running I unpluged the Ipod and pluged it back in, it worked. I Went though the menu's, played all kindas of songs, no problems.
When I got home I thought I would play with it a bit, because it takes forever to go throw all my songs.
Then it just stoped working, getting Error 01, sometimes it would connect and get the check mark, but you couldn't control the Ipod, sometimes it would connect with the alpine logo showing my ipod, but when I go from track to track in a playlist it would crash and give me Error 01.
I have noticed that it would connect if I played a song on my Ipod but paused it, connected it to the cable, then started the car.
But it would still soon crash.
I just bought the unit from bestbuy today, I'm going to go back tomorrow and see if they can replace it or something.
maybe the cable needs to be repluged in.

Drove all the way to work, went thought my artists, played differnet stuff no problems.
I'm still going to go to bestbuy today and see if I can duplicate the issue, with them watching.

  • Syncing/Charging Problem with iPod Video 5G

I am experiencing a problem with my iPod Video 5G. When pressing the center button of the device, the apple logo appears. But before it completely starts up, it dies, leaving the screen with a faint apple logo and some lines. When I plug the iPod into my PC, a screen is displayed saying "Please Wait, Very Low battery." After a while, it restarts, and fully comes on, displaying the "Do Not Remove" screen. But a message shows up saying "No Battery Power Remains. Connect iPod to Computer". However, the battery meter in the top right hand corner shows a a completely charged battery. Also, it starts to beep. The iPod briefly shows up in iTunes, but then it shuts off, displaying a "very low battery" message again, and an error message comes up in iTunes. This whole process keeps repeating over again. This all came up out of no where, as I had used the iPod a few hours before this started. I have no idea what's wrong with it. Could it be the battery? Or the hard drive? I would appreciate any help greatly.

Go to the video settings (iPod nano) and turn off fit to screen.
