IPod Won't Detect Video

hello, my video iPod will not detect that a video is video and categorizes it as a music file, and when I select "get info" on the particular video, all the tabs (summary, info, options, lyrics, artwork) are all available except the video tab. I can't make my iPod detect a video if this tab is not available for selection. So how do I get the iPod to detect these videos and not play them as simply audio files with no visuals
basically my iPod puts all the videos in the audio playlist and I want to know how to get my videos out of the audio playlist and into the video playlist as none of them show up in the video playlist

You might want to try a different port on your computer. Also check with a different cable. I know I've personally run in to issues with a bad USB port, it will read a keyboard/mouse just fine, but if I try it with an external drive or iPod, nothing.

  • IPod won't load video from iTunes

Hey there people, this is my first time posting in here and I really need a hand. I just bought a 30 gig video and I converted some files on my computer to mp4 and the videos are viewable under movies in my iTunes. The problem is that when I plug my iPod into my computer a warning box comes up telling me that I cannot load the file onto the ipod because the ipod won't support the video (or something along those lines). Is there anything that I can do to fix it?? Please help!!!
    Thanks alot,
    A.

What did you use to covert them? The iPod has rather specific conversion requirements where as iTunes is a bit more relaxed. So it is perfectly reasonable to have video files that will play in iTunes but are not right for the iPod (bit rate too high, etc.)

  • Ipod won't play video/podcasts or audio only a black screen with the play symbol and volume/progress bar. games work fine! any ideas?

Ipod video classic 5th gen won't play video/podcasts or audio only a black screen with the play symbol and volume/progress bar. games work fine! any ideas?

    Here's some more info.
I tried installing the latest iTunes to my housemate's PC, logging into iTMS with my account, authorizing his machine to play my content, restoring my iPod to the factory settings, downloading the videos and copying them to my iPod.
It worked fine, and I can play my videos.
I have done the exact SAME thing on my own home PC twice, after completely uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and the Apple Software Updater. But I still can't get any videos downloaded on my home PC to play on my iPods.
    Any thoughts?

  • Z87-g45 won't detect video card

I just got a 87-g45 and the on board graphics work fine with my dvi cable.  I put in my gtx 660 but it won't detect it at all.  I tried putting it in another computer and the card works fine.  I saw another thread with a similar problem: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=174991.0
I just flashed the bios to the one linked in the thread, but it didn't help.  Should I plan to get a new motherboard or is there another way to solve this?

    1.  The computer runs fine through the onboard video, I'm using it right now to type this.  Is it possible that the computer runs fine even with a bent pin?  Is it easy to tell if I have a bent pin?
yes it may run fine if a pin that connects to the PCI-E connector is bent! you need to remove the cooler and CPU and look in the underlying socket with a Bright light and a magnifier to see if they are all strait and in line! with each other from a few angles like from above and then at a 45 degree angle to make sure they all look exactly the same!

    3. Does that mean having the motherboard just hanging outside the case?
put the board on a piece of plain cardboard or wood (to prevent shorting) on a table and plug up the power and so on and see if it posts there (most builders do that before they put it in a case or place it on the motherboard box itself)!

  • 5th Generation iPod won't sync video, says "format not supported"

My 5th gen iPod has stopped syncing video that formerly was happily synced, including a TV show I bought in iTunes. Only one video, a movie I converted in Handbrake, still syncs.
    Anybody got any ideas?

Maybe try to repair the iPod's HD using Disk Utility located in the Applications -> Utilities folder.  If that doesn't help, try a low level reformat of the drive using the same application.  Make sure you choose Mac OS X Extended (Journaled) as the file system format.

  • My ipod won't play video on my tv

my ipod will not play video on my tv. it tell me tv out enabled please connect video accesory. i have an standard red/white/yellow rca plugged into the earphone jack and it is plugged in properly behind the tv.

The 4th gen Nano has no video out through the headset jack the way older iPods did.. You need the cable that plugs into the port where your sync cable plugs in. As far as I know, the cable is only available through Apple but I could be out of date on that.
    Best of luck.

  • Video ipod won't play videos from podcasts

my ipod plays movies and videos perfectly, but any video casts from the podcasts i subscribe to only come up as a still image, like cover art, but don't play a video. does anyone know why that would be or how to fix it? thanks for your time!

Go to Videos on the main menu then to Video Podcasts. This should play them like videos but if you went under Music to Podcasts it just plays the audio.

  • Please Help! iPod won't play videos anymore!

I've had my 5th generation iPod for a year now and for the last 3 months I have not been able to get my videos to play. I have DVD's that I've burned as well as movies that I've downloaded. At first, only one or two wouldn't play and now I am down to only 1, out of about 20 videos that will still work.
When I try to play a video I get a black screen. I can adjust the volume and see that the video is there, but the elapsed time just stays frozen at 00:00. The only way to recover the iPod after this is to reset it by holding down the menu and select buttons. I've checked that the TV out is off and tried everything else that I can figure out to try. I have even restored the iPod and reloaded all of the content. Still, only that one video will play and all the others lock up the iPod. I've tried re-downloading the videos and ripping the DVD's again. I also tried adding new videos. The iPod syncs and the videos upload fine but when I try to play them… no luck.
Anyone else have this same problem? It's driving me crazy. Ready to go buy a Zune.

    Hello,
Only i could say, that i have the same problem with my 30Gb iPod during the last two or three months. Just after syncing my iPod i was not able to see any video. In the beginning one restart of the device was helpful and video started playing as usual. Now does not help anything: either multiple restarts of the iPod, or restoring all settings via iTunes.
Since i have encountered this problem, i have not found any answer.

  • IPod won't put videos into movies section

    Hi
Whenever I set a show to movies it won't load onto my iPod but when I file it under music videos it works. How can I solve this? Thanks

There is no help. Just a lot of griping that tags don't work properly for videos, TV shows, music videos....they seem to be uneditable in iTunes.
I mean, any other field you can click on it twice (real slow) and change the artist, title, year....
but for TV shows you cannot edit episode, for instance.
There is a lot more chat on this over in the 5th gen video iPod forums.
My personal opinion is, Apple developers are wrestling with getting the video things to even play properly . The nice tags are gravy for later releases.
You know that get info dialog box that comes up for music? It is still in the music world of iTunes v4.7. No boxes for show, season, episode #.
So make up your own genre and make a smart playlist with that new genre, in the meantime. Sync that to your iPod.
Then when all this new functionality gets added it will be easy to go back and look for things with the genre "helpme".
    or whatever

  • My iPod won't play video

I have installed videos onto my iPod and they won't play. They are in the correct format, I restored my iPod settings and tried it all over again. But all I get when I click on the video file is a black screen, as if it is loading (I imagine) and then after about 5 seconds it goes back to the pervious screen.
I'm at my wit's end, any help very welcome.

I'm having the same issue. Tried restoring, doesn't help. Same black screen, then back to the menu. Let me know if you find a solution for this. If I figure something out, I'll post back here again.

  • Upgraded to Windows Vista computer and now my ipod won't show videos/pics

I recently bought a new computer. Around the same time my ipod broke and I got a brand new one. Everything works on it except the videos and I can't sync any pics. The videos will show up in my recently added list, with the little tv pic but if click on it, I only get audio. The same thing happens under the recently added in my video playlist. However none of the videos, podcasts, or movies show up under their respective menus. All software is up to date, and all of the equipmnt is new. I'm at a loss. Please help.

    - New cable and different USB port

  • My iPod won't sync videos, photos, restore....

I got a 30gb iPod video (5G) and the latest iTunes installed. I managed to sync all my music into the ipod but when i tried to sync some videos (already on mpg4 format), after like 2 minutes of waiting, i get the following error: "The iPod 'username's iPod' cannot be synced. The disk could not be read from or written to." I tried re-installing iTunes, and restoring iPod to factory's settings but with no success. Instead I get an unknown (1418) error, after some time in the "Restoring 'username's iPod" status bar. What is happening?

I am having the same issue. I have the latest iTunes version and can't Sync my photos. I can't remove the photos on the iPod and can't add new ones. I get the same message about unable to Sync because it can't find the folder yet iTunes lists the selected folder and knows how many photos are in it. I've tried everything short of restoring the ipod. I don't want to have to load all the songs back on there if I can avoid it. Any suggestions?

  • My 5th-g iPod won't recognize videos?

Alright... so my new 5th generation iPod synched with my library... so it has all of my music on it now... but when it tries to synch with my videos, I get this error message:
"Some of the items in the iTunes library, including __insert video name here__, were not copied to the iPod "Sav's iPod" becaue they cannot be played on this iPod."
Yeah... except it's an iPod with video capabilities... so it should be able to play videos. Help?

what format are the files in? avi? the ipod video only supports mp4 and one other video file.. you will need to convert your files to mp4 so the ipod can read the file..
    go to www.versiontracker.com
there are many programs there that will allow you to convert the files into mp4. some are free others are not..
