IPod won't Update or Sync

I got a new iPod Shuffle a few days ago and am having trouble loading music. The package requires at least Windows 2000 SP4, which I have, and iTunes 7.0.2 (I have 7.3.2). I attempted to update to the latest iPod software, but all that happens is the status bar comes up and just scrolls in the bar endlessly. Also, I am unable to sync the iPod because it says it can't find the disc. Anyone have any suggestions?

No sorry none of that helped.
I blame iTunes, I think Apple messed something up.
My friend has a video iPod 30GB and his used to be able to sync photos, but since iTunes 7 he says it stopped working.
Is it quite possible something is stopping it because I do not have an iTunes account. You know that thing so you can but music off iTunes? Maybe it won't work because of that? Although I can not get an account because its not available for NZ ='(

  • IPod won't update, or sync photos...

Whenever I try to sync photos now it comes up with these errors:
    http://files.gbhfusion.com/ipod-error.gif
    http://files.gbhfusion.com/ipod-error2.gif
However, I got it replaced because of loose wheel thing (the other one I got was even looser lol) and it synced photos fine.
However, when I try to choose a different folder, it comes up with the same errors.
Or even when I tried to update the software it would freeze and all that, but then i got it working by uplugging and replugging the usb cable even though it said "Do not disconnect" on iPod.
I do honestly love my little blue iPod 2nd Gen, but I want to put some photos on it and it wont work.
    Some info:
    I have 800mb remaining.
I use Windows XP on a Dell Dimension 5150
    I am using iTunes 7.0.1.8
    Thank you.

  • Playsists selected for syncing no longer exist? ipod won't update

My new ipod won't update because it says that playlists I've selected for syncing no longer exist. For this reason I can't get any of my music onto my ipod and I don't understand what I am supposed to do to fix this
    dell inspiron   Windows XP

Hi guys, I've been having the same problem. Specifically, when I try to transfer songs from iTunes to my iPod I get the following error message: "Songs in the iPod "My iPod" cannot be updated because all the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist". I did some searching around at this site, and found that one possible problem is that my library is larger than my iPod's capacity, so I have to eliminate some songs. I did this, but I still get the same error message.

  • I deleted my "iPod Slection" playlist and now my iPod won't update.

I don't know exactly how it happened but the songs on my original "iPod Selection" playlist got messed up and so iTunes automatically created another "iPod Selection Playlist" and I didn't want the songs it put in that playlist on my iPod so I deleted it. But now my iPod won't update because it says "your iPod cannot be updated because all the playlists selected for updating no longer exist." If anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Seems like you've got auto sync with your iPod and it is looking for a specifically named playlist.
    Check your preferences.
Create a new playlist and sync that.
    Regards,
    Colin R.

  • My 2003 IPOD Won't Update with Purchased Music from ITunes

    Hi!
My 2003 IPOD won't update with my Itunes purchased music when I sync.
I have reset, restored, updated with the latest versions of IPOD updater as well as Itunes.
Still no purchased music on my IPOD.
    Can anyone help me?

Try deauthorizing and reauthorizing your computer. Repeat the deauthorization and reauthorization process for any other iTunes Music Store accounts for which your computer is authorized.
1.Double-click one of your affected iTunes Music Store songs.
2.Enter your account name and password in the resulting dialog.
    3.Click OK.
After you've deauthorized and reauthorized your computer, open iTunes, select your iPod, and choose Update iPod from the File menu. If that doesn't resolve the issue, try restoring your iPod.
After you've restored your iPod, open iTunes, select your iPod, and choose Update iPod from the File menu. If that doesn't resolve the issue, try recreating your iTunes library.
After you've recreated your iTunes library, open iTunes, select your iPod, and choose Update iPod from the File menu.

    Any fixes?

I also had problems with iTunes 7 when it first came out, but 7.0.2 is working for me and seems to have fixed a lot of the problems. It's worth a try if you need iTunes 7 for your new iPod.

  • IPod Won't Update - Is iTunes 7 to blame?

I started having problems with my iPod's playback - skipping songs in a playlist and skipping to the next track before the end of the song - I then tried to add songs (and update calenders etc.) using iTunes 7 (having only just downloaded it) and then everything stopped working.
The iPod registered on the computer and in iTunes - the contents of the iPod appeared in ITunes too, but it refused to accept new songs - when I tried to add songs, iTunes said it was updating, but it froze on the second song and iTunes then crashed.
I have restored the iPod and reinstalled iTunes 7, but neither of them work - the iPod won't update and iTunes constantly crashes (particularly when playing and pausing songs). I tried downgrading to iTunes 6.0.5 - which works fine - but the iPod still would not update.
Are these problems due to iTunes 7 being rubbish or do I have a broken iPod?? Is there anything I can try??
I have also just realised my mistake in putting this question in the Fifth Generation iPod forum, as I don't have one. Apologies for that - I have an iPod with click wheel but I don't seem to be able to move the question!

  • Urgent! My iPod won't update!

My iPod says this when I connect it to iTunes, "Song on this iPod cannot be updated because all of the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist." and it also says "Unknown error (-50)" (or something like that). Can anyone help me out here? It would be greatly appreciated.

Let's start you out with a few things with this issue:
Have you tried the Five R's? Reset, Retry, Restart, REinstall, Restore. Read about them here -> The Five R's
Have you tried assigning your iPod a different drive letter? Follow these instructions below:
Log off of any other users on your computer (and disconnect any iPods that are currently connected to your computer, as well)
Then, put your iPod into Disk Mode, then follow these steps:
1 - Don’t plug in your iPod yet.
2 - Go to "START -> Control Panel -> Admin Tools (if you don't see this, click on "classic view" button on the left panel) -> Computer Management."
3 - Click on the "Disk Management" button in the left panel area.
4 - Now, with "Computer Management" and Control Panel windows opened, reset your iPod, and connect it.
5 - Right-click on your iPod's listing there (after a few moments when it gets recognized in this drive window), and click on "Change Drive letter and Paths". Then the "Change..." button.
Here's what it should look like:
Assign your iPod the letter "M" "N", "O" or the like (further along in the alphabet).

  • IPod won't update

I recently tried to update my iPod and I get a message saying that some of the playlists needed for updating no longer exist and it won't update. It also cleared my entire library on my iPod as well.
I'm not sure how to fix this because the only playlist i have is the recently added one.

You need to check your music settings in itunes when the ipod is connected to the computer.
Connect the ipod to the computer
click on music at the top of the summary page when itunes recognizes the ipod.
see if the ipod is set to update only to a particular playlist and if that playlist still exist in itunes.

  • IPOD won't update from iTunes

Jeez, I thought that iTunes/iPOD would be pretty simple; move music from here to there. I have been using for over a year with no problem, but within the latest couple of upgrades to iTunes, my iPOD will no longer update correctly. I have spent over 6 hours trying to figure this crap out, and it still won't work. YEAH, I have the latest Updater/iPOD software installed, and the latest iTunes. Plug in my iPOD, and it says its updating, and I can see the new music on the iPOD from iTunes, but its NOT ON MY IPOD when I unplug and try and play. The other day I formatted the dang thing, and spent five hours moving music; next day added two additional songs to the library, and they will not move to the iPOD. Have tried moving manually, but they still will not play on the iPOD.
What kind of crap are you giving us??? If iTunes/iPOD won't do what its supposed to do (move music from here to there), then I don't want to mess around with it. If you can't move my music properly, why would I put my Contacts/Calendars on this device?
Support: Forget about it! Post a message in a Discussion Group and hope for the best. Forget about actually calling someone and asking for help, even though you paid top dollar for your 30gb iPOD. I'm starting to look for some fool to buy it and let them deal with it. Oh Yeah, by the way, the screen is scratched even though I bought a PROTECTIVE case for it.
Several people in our office were interested in purchasing an iPOD, iShuffle and I have convinced them to look elsewhere.

  • IPod won't update software

I have downloaded the latest software for my shuffle and for some reason it won't update. The only I get is Restore. This is the same for the 1.1 version. My iPod no longer plays any music. It only flashes orange and green. Any suggestions would be very useful. I just want my shuffle to work.

If it is flashing green and orange, this is normally not a good sign. A call to Apple iPod Tech Support may be in order... sorry

  • Ipod won't update in windows 8

All of a sudden, Itunes won't update my Ipod in Windows 8. It doesn't even recognise that the Ipod is connected.
I got one error message from Itunes that the driver had been corrupted and it was trying to fix it.
I got another message from Windows that it had blocked the installation of an unlicenced driver.
I uninstalled Itunes, rebooted and reinstalled it without result but no error messages.
Just had a Windows update so I think that is the culprit.
When I plug in the ipod to the USB port, I get a sound acknowledgement but Windows doesn't seem to know it is there as there is no explorer icon and it doesn't show up in My Computer

  • 5G 30G Ipod won't charge or sync

My Ipod won't charge when connected to my laptop. It does charge when plugged into my car radio transmitter and dock. When I plug it into my laptop fully charged I get a message from windows explorer asking me if I want to scan and clean it to repair any problems. I have done this. It starts to sync with itunes (still fully charged) and then I get an error message saying the disk cannot be read. When I disconnect the Ipod there is almost no charge on the battery. I have restored the Ipod through itunes and reinstalled itunes.
I have replaced the battery and charged it again but I am still having the same problems.
I have synced an ipod shuffle on the same computer with no problems.
Any help would be appreciated! thanks.

come on guys? can anybody help?
I have run the manual diagnostics and the USB cable is recognized. I let the battery completely discharge for 5 days, rebooted it up and its draining power from the usb cable to operate, but there is no software recognition (other than in diagnostics) of the fact that the cable is plugged in. In disk mode it shows charging but does not recognize it is plugged into a computer. In normal mode it does not show charging or syncing. OS X does not acknowlede the ipod exists and windows does not recognize the device (several computers, all recognize other ipods).
I'm sure this must be a software issue but i cannot restore as i cannot get the computer to recognize the ipod! Help

  • My ipod won't update

When i open itunes and connect the ipod it recognizes it as usual and begins flashing the do not disconnect image on the ipod however it doesn't go away unless you manually eject the iPod and then the iPod does not update and add new songs. If you right click on the iPod in itunes and click update the entire screen flashes once and then the information bar at the top never changes to updating ipod, i've installed the latest itunes and updater and updated the software on the ipod itself, it did that sucessfully but nothing else. thanks

Go to "Edit Preferences -> iPod" to be sure that you are on one of the "Automatic" settings, which should automatically eject your iPod.
iTunes won't automatically eject your iPod, though, if "Disk Use" is enabled. Right-click your iPod, and see if disk use is enabled. If it is, then try unchecking Disk Use, and see if that works.
