Is accessing a servlet through a java client possible.

Is it possible to call a servlets method (say doPost) from a standalone java application?
How can we do this?
I think for connecting to a servlet I would need to create an HTTP Request object and pass it to a specific URL. This is what the browser does. Am I right?

If you only need to make a GET request and receive the generated content without much interaction, URL and HttpURLConnection can do it without too much pain ;-)

    I called a servlet from java client using URL object.
    I could establish a connection with server and display
    the content(like req.getservername etc.,)
    of servlet on client side(DOS prompt).
    My question is how do i send a request to servlet from the client.
    let me say, i have to send a value as 10 to servlet and do some processing
    ( like 10*2 = 20) display the output (20) on client side..
    It will be appreciated if u can mention the syntax...

    just add the query string to the url you use to create the URL object from.

    Have you tried adding those users to the "Remote Desktop Users" group? It's in Active Directory Users and Computers and it's a Built-In group. Might want to give that a try ...

  • UCCX 8.0 Accessing ECC Vars through custom Java

    In a UCCX script, how can I access the ECC Vars within custom Java?
    I  know how to pull them in the UCCX script using the "Get Enterprise Call  Info" step.  I want to grab all of the ECC key value pairs without  knowing how many there are or their names.
    I'm new at this so any help would be wonderful thank you.

    I can assure you that your being new to this is not relevant in regards to what you are asking for.  I have been doing this a long time, and would bet there is maybe one person on this forum that can answer your question.
    Until he answers, I will offer you this:
    Instead of trying to access the ECC directly from within the Custom Java, how about storing the data for ECC into a two-dimensional array.  Now, you can write your ECC values by accessing the array indices, as well as pass your array into the a method of your custom class.  It's a workaround for what you really asked for, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to know that it's even possible.
    E.g.,
    String[][] my_ecc_data = new String[] {new String {"first_ecc", "value1"}, new String[] {"second_ecc", "value2"}}
    Good luck and happy scripting!

  • Accessing Active-Directory through a Java Swing Desktop Appl

    I have a desktop application in which, I have an options window. In the window, I use a button to access the active directory(address-book) - when I click the button, the active directory window(the way the address book opens in microsoft-outlook) should open.
    I wish to know where can I find information to implement this requirement. It would be even better if there's a solution posted!

    Find how to do that from the command line. Perhaps there's an executable you can run or something like that. (Note that this is not a Java Programming question but something to do with your operating system.) Then use a ProcessBuilder to do that command-line thing.

    If this proxy design (not starting up due to a invalid entry in "authroized-hosts") is on-purpose from Coherence Engineers - then it should be re-visited.
    I think the PROXY Server should just log a message stating about the invalid DNS entry for the Authorized-host and continue with the startup...Failing to start completely doesn;t make sense since one cannot rely completely on DNS to
    say everything should be correct before a server start.
    Ofcourse you can overcome by writing your own Custom Filter - but the issue pop's out as with any custom filter(s) is maintaining them along the road (with all minor/major coherence upgrades).
    Also - this "Authorized-Hosts" concept should be carefully analyzed particularly for the following issues...
    (1) if the client IP is changed in the DNS server - will the proxy-server allow the new Client connection without any issues? when will the PROXY server flush its CLIENT DNS entries or what is the TTL time-limit for a CLIENT cached through Authorized-hosts by the PROXY-SERVER?
    (2) Suppose, we have a CLIENT in the "Authroized-Hosts" making a valid connection to the PROXY and putting some cache into the SERVER CACHE through the PROXY....now if the IP-address (DNS being the same) of the CLIENT is changed - can the CLIENT can GET the CACHE it just PUT into the SERVER without any ERRORS?
    (3) How often we need to re-start PROXIES? Do we need to re-start them often for the DNS issues (if any) mentioned above?
    Looks like the Limited documentation & examples for Coherence*Extend - particularly for .NET & C++ clients & *Extend Proxies is a point of concern.

  • Still trying to go through the firewal with a java client.

    One of guys here suggested me to fix the available ports on the server computer and open that range of ports on the firewall so that the ejb client can talk to the server even the client outside of the LAN.
    However, my customer rejects the suggestion. Now we gonna have to give up on this very nice looking java client. Or take another year to conver this one to web service client....
    The java client used to communicate with the server through RMI with the fixed port. Now with migrating to j2ee, it's useless because ejb doesn't allow to communicate with the server through the fixed port.
    Or may be someone has a great idea to save our client application.

    hum...
    you might to try RMI-over-HTTPIf you think about the efficiency this is not the best way but could
    be only solution.
    We can't just give up this because somtimes a web server can be placed between firewalls in the DMZ and put an ejb container in LAN.
    In the above situaltion, if you are using the servlet to access application server you might have the same problem, too.
    Certainly, they didn't have time to think about the issue.

    U're getting this error because there is no field called 'password' in ur database, the field in ur database is named 'cpassword' and not 'password'. So change the statement rs.getString("password"); to rs.getString("cpassword");

    Hi, I too have a problem with an SQL exception, the message is Column not found.
    I'm using the sun jdbc odbc driver with access.
    the first few lines of the stack trace are
    sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcResultSet.findColumn(JdbcOdbcResultSet.java:1852)
    sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcResultSet.getInt(JdbcOdbcResultSet.java:603)

    sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(NativeMethodAccessorImpl.java:39)
    I am of course sure that the column does infact exist. I can insert into the column no problems. the sql looks like this:
    SELECT * FROM Members WHERE uName ='Stewart' AND encPwd='F2C3h1Y'
    Can any one tell me if there is a common cause to this problem?

  • Accessing DB2 data through DBLINK in Java program recieves ORA-02063 error

    Hello,
    Is it posible to access a mainframe DB2 table through a Java JDBC connection utilizing a DBLink / Synonym. Using Toad or SQLDeveloper, I can select the DB2 data just fine. Also, PL/SQL programs can access the data without issues. When I try to select data from the DB2 Table in a Java program, I get ORA-01002: fetch out of sequence -- ORA-02063 preceding line from DB2D errors.
    The code I am using to test is:
    (Note: TBL_LOC_ADR is the Synonym that points to the Mainfram DB2 table)
    public static void main(String[] args) {
              Connection con = null;
              Statement stmt = null;
              String query = "SELECT * FROM tbl_loc_adr";
              ResultSet rs;
              try {
                   System.out.println("Getting connection");
                   con = BatchDBConnection.getDBConnection();
                   TestConnection tc = new TestConnection();
                   System.out.println("Creating ps");
                   stmt = con.createStatement();
                   System.out.println("Calling qds");
                   rs = stmt.executeQuery(query);
                   System.out.println(" Returned data " );
              } catch (Exception e) {
                   System.out.println("Error " + e.getMessage());
                   e.printStackTrace();
    The error occurs on the rs = stmt.executeQuery(query); line.
    Thanks for any input into this error. It's been driving me nuts all day.

  • Want to access RESTful Services through Java Program

    We are trying to access RESTful Services exposed by Oracle database cloud through our Java code, with authentication enabled for a particular user.
    Till now, we have completed below steps:
    1) We have a working account with Oracle database cloud (Username – xxx.xxx)
    2) We log in using the credentials for above account, and navigate to Oracle Apex ? SQL Workshop ? RESTful Services
    3) We create a new “RESTful Service Module” by filling out the details as below:
         Name:                                  SampleTest
         URI Prefix:                            test
         URI Template:                       /getallemp
         Pagination Size:                    25 (kept to default)
         Required Privilege:                 TestGroupPrivilege
         Resource Handler Details:
                    Method:              GET
                    Source Type:      Query
                    Format:               JSON
                    Source:               select * from emp
    After creating the above module and testing it, it works fine and the data is retrieved in JSON successfully.
    The resulting URL for above RESTful Service Module is: https://<HOST_URL>/apex/test/getallemp
    Note that “TestGroupPrivilege” is a privilege assigned to the user group “RESTful Services” and the user “xxx.xxx” is a member of “RESTful Services” user group.
    4) We are unable to call the RESTful services from Java program. We are passing username and password in request header as basic authentication. But, we are getting: Error 500--Internal Server Error
    5) If we change the “Required Privilege” to default i.e. no privileges present on the module, we can get the response through Java code and everything works perfectly fine.
    Please suggest us in: How to access RESTful Services through Java code by passing user credentials in HTTP header for authentication. Also let us know if we have to do any settings through Apex, in case we are missing any.

    - When we are logging in to Oracle cloud on browser and execute the Oracle cloud RESTful service in another tab of same browser, we are able to get the result. But when executed the same RESTful service from a different browser or java program we get internal server error.
    - After investigation, we found that when user logs in to oracle database cloud, a cookie is set in browser with name s “OAMAuthnCookie_cstest-domo.db.us1.oraclecloudapps.com:443” and value as some random token. This cookie is passed in the subsequent requests to the RESTful Service calls when using same browser and as a result, we are able to get the results
    - In the Java program, we copied the same cookie with random token in the HTTP Request header and we got the proper response from REST APIs.
    - It seems that this cookie is created by an Oracle Middleware tool/server called as OAM – Oracle Accounts Manager, which sends the authentication token after successful authentication and creates the cookie.
    - We found that the cookie that OAM creates on authentication is exactly in the same format i.e. ‘OAMAuthnCookie_cstest-domo.db.us1.oraclecloudapps.com:443’. So, we are guessing that Oracle cloud uses OAM for authentication. Please refer to following link for same : http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14571_01/doc.1111/e15478/sso.htm
    Can anyone please suggest:
    1.     How to provide authentication to Oracle Cloud REST APIs from java program?
    2.     How to pass the username and password in Java code to OAM (or how to communicate with OAM using Java) so that we can receive the unique token from OAM. We can use the token in the further requests? 3.     Also in Oracle cloud white papers , it is mentioned that they support OAuth2.0. But we didn’t find any URLs for same. Can anyone please confirm?
    Thanks

    Hi Nilesh,
    We tried to connect to Oracle Cloud Database using the way you suggested above, but unfortunately it is not working as well.
    Can you let us know the authentication process with Oracle Cloud Database? We found in documentation that it uses OAM (Oracle Access Manager) for authentication. Can you tell us a bit about that? That will be extremely helpful.
    Thanks,
    - Neeraj
