Is anyone aware of a framework that allows users to build JSF plug ins

We have a businsess application where we would like customers (and ourselves) to add in feature plug ins.
We know that one option is to use portlet technology for this but was wondering if anyone was aware of any open source or examples of doing this that does not use portlets.
Ideally we would love to allow people to write a separate JSF application that works like a Struts plug in (but for JSF). In other words the user would write the JSF applciation, put in in a jar file and provide some kind of mapping file.
Our application would have predefined hooks where the new applications would be shown (like a menu of these options for example) or file type application mapping..
I have done some net searches on this but thought I would see if anyone in the community was aware of such a framework.

We have a process to go from Desire2Learn to iTunesU. You should be able to do the same sort of thing with blackboard.
What we did, is we setup a javascript post request coming out of Desire2Learn. This post request contains the course name, username and a few other important bits of information. This request goes to one of our servers which processes the passed information, and generates the necessary itunes tokens and then startes the itunes u authentication process.
There is no reason why you couldn't do something similiar in blackboard. Either way, you are going to need a "middleman" server to intercept the request out of Blackboard, and then process it and iniatiate the iTunes U authentication process.

    Per my knowledge, there is no minimum permission level that allow users to view their own and other people’s draft documents.
    This is based on the Draft Item Security setting you choose for your list in Versioning Settings:

  • Anyone aware of UML290 software that will graph RSSI/SINR over time?

    I can get a graph like this from a Cradlepoint router with a UML290 plugged in, anyone aware of any windows software that will do the same when the modem is plugged into a PC?
    My signal has become very erratic, so much so the router can't connect with the modem but the connection works OK with the modem in a PC. I want to collect some stats to share with my VZW friends.

  • Flash app that allows users to create mini animations

    Hi,
    I am fairly new to flash, and was wondering if the community could point me in the right direction for my current project.
    I am looking to build an app that allows end users to draw and save mini animations (simple predetermined shapes that move in 2D).  So far I have a written a app that allows the user to draw a single frame using simple shapes and lines, but I am having some small troubles at this stage, and have not attempted to allow the user to animate or save the drawing.
    If anyone knows of a tutorial or some other resource to put me on the right path I would be very grateful.  I can also share what I have if anyone would be willing to give me some pointers (I am going to assume that as a newbie, my code could use a lot of improvement).

    Thanks for the input.  I figured that the save functionality would be a little difficult. 
    However, if I can get the basic app going (allowing users to create mini animations) I think I should be able to get save going with some (ok, alot) of effort.

    I am working on an enterprise Wiki library site collection, but I want to create a link named “Convert to PDF” , which allow users to convert the current Wiki into a pdf file. I need this link to be displayed some where in all the exsiting Wikis pages, and

    For your requirement, we can add this link to the master page, then it will appear in the pages which apply this master page.
    To convert the current page to PDF, you can take consideration of using jsPDF.

  • Can you create a button that allows users to save content?

    I am trying to come up with a way that allows a user to save their certificate (created using the widget in Captivate 4) if they don't immediately have access to a printer. Is there some code I could attach to a button?

    What about printing to a pdf-document? There are a lot of free PDF-writers around.

  • When I was on facebook a few times, I get a message that says I need to install plug ins. It has a button to push to find out what plug in I need, but nothing happens when I click on it.

    My computer has Windows XP, I also have Mozilla Firefox. I don't understand why sometimes, a bar appears across the screen, where the tabs should be , and it says I need to install plug ins. It has a button that says, install, and one that says, click here to find out what plug ins you need. I've tried pressing both of them on different occasions but no luck. Can someone Please Help me??

    Checking your list of plugins, a common plugin that you do not have is Java, it may be trying to install that one. You can get it from http://java.com/

    My experience is that the noise reduction plug-ins like Neat-Image, NoiseNinja, etc. are significantly better than NR in ACR 5.x. The marketing material about LR-3 (ACR-6) touts that NR is better, that my limited experience with the LR-3-beta is that its NR is stll underwhelming.
    My budget is limited ... it stung to spend big bucks on CS4, then about $70 on Neat Image 6.1 because ACR 5.x NR was, IMO, inadequate.
    I'm not an ACR/CS4 expert, but my impression with high ISO pictures is that you want to do sharpening near the end of the workflow, especially after NR. I would like to use the much improved sharpening (and Clarity) that is available in ACR 5.x, but that detracts from the effectiveness of the NR plug-in, especially for high-ISO pictures.  It doesn't seem to matter that much with low-ISO DSLR images.
    I would appreciate the Adobe PS team working with the the NR plug-in vendors to give them a "hook" into the ACR pipeline. Their plug-in would be invoked by the ACR "engine" at the appropriate point in the pipeline, perhaps very early even before White-Balance and exposure/brighness/contrast adjustments.
    In a batch of "sync-all", my impression is that you want NR to act on the "raw - raw" image before any exposure or contrast adjustments. When you increase exposure for an underexposed image, the shadows becomre noiser, and this can throw off pre-built noise profiles (as least that is my experience with Neat-Image 6.1).
    My preference is to do as much of the Post-Processing as possible in ACR for images that don't need layers. That way I can minimize use of PS when appropriate. At this time, I find myselft invoking PS for all images to do NR.
    But perhaps I'm mis-informed (wouldnt' be be first or last). I've had email correspondence with the Neat-Image support person (also may the be developer?), and my understanding is that such as "hook" isn't available.
    Of course, the really preferred suggestion would be for ACR to have as good or better NR as the plug-ins, but until then, it would be appreciated for Adobe CS4 to be more "plug-in friendly".

  • Is it possible to create a form that allows users to import data from an excel spreadsheet

    I have not been able to start my reading on scripting or other livecycle features to be able to try to figure this out but I was wondering if anyone else had ever created a form with this feature or had any ideas of how it would be possible.  Our company currently uses and excel form that would have a variable number of rows of data for each time it is filled out and we would be replacing it with an adobe form.  I would like to know if the users, who will be using the new adobe form in adobe reader, could have the capability to imort the lines from the previous excel form into the new adobe version.

    You can set up a data connection with an Excel spreadsheet. However for the data connection to work for users with Reader, you would need to Reader Enable the form with the LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES2.5 (server component). See here for summary: http://assure.ly/etkFNU.
    However if you are just trying to get the existing data into the form, you should have a look at some of Stefan Cameron's posts: http://forms.stefcameron.com/ (try a search). You can start a new form using the wizzard and select import from Excel. This will allow you to paste from your spreadsheet to a new form. This should help set up the data structure/schema, which you can then replicate in a new form. I haven't done this before, but it should be possible.

    schedule page). It was password protected so you could only access
    the page configuration with proper authorization. I have since
    forgotten about the code and can't seem to find one similar to it.
    The unfortunate side effect was the page was very simplistic and
    did not allow much markup.
    Does anyone know of a code or script like this one?

    Lazy solution:
    Just show them the HTML page, have them make the changes and
    set them up
    with an FTP client to just upload the file to the right
    location... (and
    be sure to show them how to make a backup copy of the
    original... so
    they can't really mess things up)
    that way you wouldn't have to change a thing...
    there are plenty of possibilities out there... using some
    sort of
    scripting language up to XML... the question is more how
    involved do
    you want to get (in creating the set up)...

  • How to develop a webpage that allows user to customize a Mr. potatohead

    Hello Gurus,
    I'd like to develop a webpage that takes a shell of Mr. Potatohead and allows the user  to change colors, add/remove face/body parts, add accessories, add clothes, etc.  Something like the following sites.

    Why is flash dying out?
    Many of us never liked flash in the first place. It is bloated and has never served much of a practical purpose. Adobe is not going to support flash for mobile devices, which is an increasingly large market segment. If Flash disappeared, life on the internet would hardly notice. Flash has had a position in delivering video on the web, but there are other ways, including HTML5.
    You might want to explore jQuery, which is a javascript framework. It can often provide complete javascript code for various pruposes.

  • Using Cap6, need to create menu screen that allows user to click a button, branch to other screens, and return to main menu. When returning to the main screen the button that was clicked will be grayed out or inactive.  How do I do this?  I created image

    I am trying to emulate a piece of equipment.  I need the user to be able to click on specific buttons that will take the user to another screen(s).  After viewing those screens the user will be directed back to the main screen where the user would know which buttons had been pressed and which still needed to be pressed.  I create image buttons with the 3 states - that worked except when the user returns the slide is reset and so the user does not see the 3rd state of the button.  How can I get that 3rd state to stay after user returns to the main screen?

    Since I just did this morning what you are currently attempting to do, I thought I'd share my method.  I must provide a disclaimer and tell you that I am not an expert in Captivate advanced actions--like you, I am still figuring them out.  However, I am happy to share here anything I have learned thus far.
    First, here is what my initial slide looks like (see interaction slide below).  I created all of the icons (including the 'grayed out' icon on the second screenshot) in a few minutes using Adobe Illustrator. The icons have been imported as custom multi-state buttons so that I could have the desired effect when the user hovers over the image--the yellow 'explore' flag appears only when the mouse is over the icon. When the learner click either image, they are sent to the corresponding slide.  Once both slides are viewed, a 'continue' button will appear at the base of the screen (something I've not figured out--I sent an email to Lieve begging for some guidance). 
    The initial slide (interaction slide):
    Second, here is a depiction of what happens when the learner returns to the interactive slide from the content slide (see image below):  Once the learner visits the 'Battery Content' slide and then returns to the interaction slide, the images have changed.  The multi-state button is hidden (through the advanced action), the replacement image (the image with the completed banner over it) is shown, and a hidden click box to allow the user to return to the previously visited page (just in case they desire to do that) is "shown" to allow navigation since the button is no longer there (because it is magically hidden).
    Content Slide 1:
    Remember, there may be an easier way to do this in Captivate.  I am using Cp6 for this module.
    1. I created two user variables as follows
    Name: v_batteryExplore
    Value: 0
    Name: v_fuelExplore
    Value: 0
    2. I created an advanced action for each as shown below (showing only one--duplicate the first and change the names to match the content):

    I have also noticed that it matters where the buttons are located on the timeline.  It seems best to have buttons above all other content.  Not sure why, but I have had images not appear when I have not done this.
    And the last step you do not want to forget; you need to remember to tell Captivate to use the action.
    As a final note, remember that the elements you do not want to appear on the initial screen must not be initially visible.  Make sure to set them to invisible by removing the checkmark in the 'Visible in output' box located next to the button name.  In my case, the image of the completed battery and the invisible button to allow a revisit of content was initially hidden.  Here is a final screenshot of my timeline for this interaction.  I hope this information helps you!

    Muse form widgets can only email the form submission data to a specified email address for non-BC hosting at this time. For BC with webCommerce plan and above, this should be possible with the help of webApps however, that is an advanced topic and would require some knowledge of CMS and HTML to implement <http://helpx.adobe.com/business-catalyst/partner/web-apps.html>.
    Also this will not be possible with Muse on its own as Muse outputs static pages only and what you are looking for requires backend technology to work (that BC offers).

    I would like to create an asset order form I can host on my company's intranet. I would like to give the users the ability to add additional fields per item they request rather than provide them with a limited amount of fields. For example, the template available from Formscentral has 5 dropdown selection boxes with predetermined supplies to choose from. My office receives requests for multiple, varying assets that I would not be able to list in generic dropdown selection boxes. I want to give users the freedom to enter item titles and provide URLs to online stores they would like me to purchase them from. I want my form to begin with two fields for this information and provide users with an add button that creates two additional fields for each additional item requested.
