Hi
How can I detect, if Director Application is now active
window or other
Windows Application is now used?
Following problem:
_key.keyPressed(123) is true, even if I work now in MS Word
and press Left
arrow on my keyboard (Director Projector is running in
background at the
same time). How can I detect if Director App is the toppest
window and is
allowed to interpret my Inputs?
Another question:
If I crate a projector with option "Center stage", then run
projector and
click outside of stage (on the dark area) - since that Time
on keyDown event
doesn't work (I hear only beep), until I click again into
stage area (the
forcus return to stage window). How do I solve this problem?
Can stage window be authomatically focused if director app is
toppes window?

CST file replacement for existing Director app

I've got an existing Director application that I want to
update via swapping out an existing CST file for a new one. I can
create a new CST file on my Mac and when i re-launch the Director
app the new cast member works great.
But on windows... the updated CST file is rejected by the
Director executable. Even if i re-rebuild the cast member from
scratch on a PC after first re-saving my assets (24 bit BMP files)
on the PC.
Any ideas?

I'm trying to use this (vals is a FILE_LIST variable):
vals := WEBUTIL_FILE.DIRECTORY_FILTERED_LIST('\\srv\fld1\jpgs','*.jpg',TRUE);
first_file_name := vals(0);
But I get: identifier 'FILE_LIST' must be declared.
Are there any steps to check if I have properly installed the datatype FILE_LIST? I suppose that's the problem now.

EDITED: I solved that reinstalling webutil, and now I can use FILE_LIST. But the error message has changed, and is "oracle.forms.webutil.file.FileFunctions bean not found. WEBUTIL_FILE.GET_ATTRIBUTE_INT will not work". What's the meaning of this? Thanks.

Details of getting a director app to my iphone

I have registred with Apple and paid the $99 as a developer. In the x-code software, in the Organizer - Devices part, I see an IOS Team Provisioning profile in the window when, on the left, I click on Provisioning Profiles under my iPhone heading. I didn't know what to do next. In some places on the web I looked, some have said they have a "provisioning profiles" folder but I searched for that and didn't see it.
So I went to the Editor menu and exported the provisioning profile and then used that in the projector iOS parameters and for the Provisioning File Path For Signing the App I pointed to the exported file. This is all stab in the dark for me. But ultimately when I published I got the dialog "A non-prerelease version of X-code should be installed in order to publish the iOS app" I'm using 4.6.3 which I believe is a valid version and not a pre-release version.
Any clues that might help me? Thanks.

Colin, that got me past that error but now i get a message "Publishing to iOS App Store is not allowed for this movie. Click on More Info for more info"
When I click on More Info, it takes me to the heading, "Support for High Resolution Retina Display" but I don't see anything on that page that indicates there's anything wrong with my movie. My director movie is just a test that has one small graphic that just moves around the screen. The only lingo is "go to frame 2" to loop the animation.

How can i change the Director App Icon for Windows?

How can i change the icon for my App for Windows? Director can do this from the Publish Settings. The Custom icon for app doesn't work. I select a .ico file for windows and Director can't attach this to the app.
There is anothe way to do that simple like in Mac with the Contest folder?

However, to answer your original question directly, I suspect there's something wrong with your .ico file as the feature in the publish settings works just fine, last I tried.

Problem starting mac-Bundle containing Director app

I've created a Mac-bundle from Director-project using standard Adobe guideline

But now the customer wants to change the name of projector to some another name
If I change for example stubX to stub and change the reference to it in info.plist as follow

What is the reason of this problem?
If I change the name back to stubX and restore the reference in info.plist back to stubX bundle starts without problem
Is stubX the only way? Or am I doing something wrong?

Try renaming the actual bundle first.
ie.
Rename bundle to
mybundleX.app
open bundle and rename executable and change CFBundleExecutable in the plist.
Change bundle name back to original
mybundle.app
Hopefully this will force it to remap the plist info.

Why does the Creative Cloud app steal focus multiple times when it starts up?

I am running Windows 8.1. When my system boots up, I've set Creative Cloud to launch at startup. I like to have the CC app running in the background so I can keep all of my apps up to date.
The problem is that the CC app steals the operating system's focus multiple times when it launches. For example, right after I log in to Windows, I'll usually launch Chrome. If I start typing something in the address bar, I am interrupted halfway through as the CC app launches and steals the focus. So then I reset the OS focus to Chrome and start typing again. And then CC usually steals the focus again after a couple of seconds.
I've verified that it is CC by disabling launch-at-startup. Doing this makes the problem go away.
This is completely obnoxious and unnecessary. If an app launches in the background, it shouldn't steal the focus once, let alone twice. This is software development 101. We are paying good money and should not have to deal with problems like this.

Google Chrome & Lion bug keeps switching app window focus

Since installing Google Chrome, when I type something into the url bar, it immediately switches the Chrome window to the bottom most of all application windows that are open. Very annoying.
For example, if I have 5 app windows open and then in Chrome, start typing in the URL bar, the Chrome window is pushed to the back of all windows. What's weird is although the window is moved to the lowest layer of visibility, as I continue typing, it still is typing in Chome. So no window focus but still abe to type in it.
A very weird bug but also makes Google Chrome almost unusable in Lion. Shame.

I have the same thing. However it is not just Chrome. It often happens when typing in Outlook or Word. It does not happen every time and a reboot often solves the problem. Has anyone else experienced this and - more importantly - found a solution?

User counters in director apps

I am developing a touch screen app for a client, they would like to be able to analyse how many people use view the content (much like google analytics). Is this doable in Director MX 2004?

I have done this for a Kiosk and it works very well
I put a value into a cast member every time certain buttons are pressed. This then I write to a text file when ever the kiosk is idle.
To find when it is idle, I use a timer which starts after any activity, when the timer reaches the set value the cursor is sent to a "intro" loop. A script writes the values to the text file .... to write the file I use Buddy API http://www.mods.com.au/budapi/default.htm

As you see I write additional information this helps with the stats anaylisis. BTW the csv file is imported in to excell fro charts/graphs etc...
With this info I can tell;
when the pc is turned on
the data is written every 5 min (after idle starts or on shut down)
as the time is writen with the data time of data can be established
etc etc

Reactivating an old director app

In 1997 we created two little games for a customer of ours, the whole thing was created (as far as I recall) in director 4.0 and Win 95 (i believe).
So far so good.
Today we would like to present these two games on our company homepage, in a playable format. The problem is. We do not have the sources anymore, appearantly they were cleaned out along with the old DOS - Machine they were residing on. :-((. All we have is an executable, some .wav's and severeal
.dxr-Files.
The question is, is there any way to extract the contents of the dxr - files, pictures, scripts, etc, in order to "reverse engineer" these two games either again
in director, or in flash, or whatever tool seems to be appropriate ?
Because from what I've learned so far the .dxr stuff is not editable in director itself anymore.
Any hints or tips would be greatly appreciated.
One more thing: We've managed to start thes apps using the shockwave player in the meantime, unfortunately the apps (although playable) to abend in some cases.

anyway would you be prepared to share the knowledge about these tricks, in order to recover
the rest of the media
for starters what would be needed from a tools perspective ?
One more question though, where are the scripts stored in that case, because when I,m running
the whole thing in firefox, the shockwave plugin only has the dxr's nevertheless it works (to some
extent at least)

I think Director has to learn a lot to produce real appealing iOS apps.
My app is just an exercise, not intended to be actually published (freely) on the App Store.
There are too many glitches and performance are too poor to consider Director as an usable development tool.
But for some kind of (very) simple task it can be ok.

I had to re-write a middleware to emulate iOS responsiveness.
I have to stress three things and ask you three questions:
1.
Scrolling is not fluid.
I change the position of ALL sprites to drag with the finger of the user.
I tried to map on textures all texts and images, and used a 3D camera and overlays.
It was screaming-fast but text was sluggy while images were perfect.
Is there a REAL way to transform a text into image ad have pristine quality?
2.
If i perform some intesive lingo task the audio disrupt.
Is there *any* way to buffer in a better way the audio so it doesn't disrupt while I do some other intensive tasks?
3.
This is strange.

Gnome 2.28 - separate X server, apps lose focus?

This is quite hard to quantify, but since updating to gnome 2.28 (with the appropriate GTK updates, of course), my apps seem to be losing focus randomly.
This is easiest to notice in Nautilus because I tend to use the buttons (back, up level) most often. When I first start nautilus in the second X server, all the buttons show as clickable (box around them when I mouse-over) and work, but once I start browsing by clicking on folders in the main pane, a mouse-over of the buttons doesn't show them clickable, and clicking on the buttons does nothing. This can be fixed (sometimes) by alt-tab and going back to the same window, or (all the time) by clicking the drop-down arrow for history (back). When this happens, scrolling the mouse won't scroll the folder in the pane, though I can use the keyboard to page up and page down.
Similarly, in my Eclipse IDE clicking some buttons will disable all buttons, which will still be accessible through their keyboard shortcuts but not by clicking on them (no response, as if an invisible app was on a layer above them).
Have no idea where to begin searching for information about this, no error logs (not that I'd expect them), just weird behaviour. Does this happen for anyone else?

How can I use the "EvalScript()" function? I am trying to send text to a Director app from the web browser, but the console in the browser just responds "Uncaught ReferenceError: evalScript is not defined ".

I am trying to control a Shockwave app form another machine, using "Pusher" service (websockets), and everything is ok so far; but when I try to send the shockwave app the text recieved from another machine, using the "EvalScript()" function (as documented), I only get the message "Uncaught ReferenceError: evalScript is not defined" in the browser's console. What am I doing wrong?

I tried your suggestion first, using getNetText to poll the server and read a text file. The drawbak is that I had to poll the server constantly, since I could not know in advance when the text file was going to change (and it's not practical to stump the server and connection).
I've kept trying the EvalScript, asigning the Shockwave object to a variable first, then calling the EvalScript() in the object, but it doesn't work, either. I think I will simply use JavaScript and forget about shockwave altogether, since everything is working fine up to that point (although it would be nice to be able to use Lingo for the rest of the app).

Robot not working after another app gains focus

I'm trying to automate some clicking for a program using Robot. The problem is, once I give focus to the target program, Robot stops working (so basically, the initial click into the program works, but it's useless if I can't release the mouse). Intuitively, it seems like the target program has somehow gained a higher priviledge to control the mouse or something if it has focus. Programmatically giving focus back to the java program after every event won't work. Is there a way to fix this, or should I try something more native to Windows like C#?
This target program has a 3D interface and it uses DirectX and stuff, which might be why it (can) eats up control of the mouse. However I just think it's badly programmed, I tried doing some Robot stuff on a game and it seems to work.

How are you checking to see if it works? If you have an application that is processing the click events, and another application covers it, then it will no longer see the click events.

If you put one object at (256, 256) and another at (512, 512) you will soon see that they are alternatly chosen and gain and release focus appropriatly, but if one object is on top of the other, then the top object will recieve the click events.
