Is it necessary to use a password to prevent alteration of a pdf document sent in an email?

Do I have to use a password everytime I wish to send and prevent an email pdf attachment from being altered by a recipient? Isn' there an easier way of protecting my documents?

I think that you can edit about any pdfs in preview. But as for acrobat reader and illustrator etc. you probably will

Go to Options>Applications>click on, in your case, Adobe Acrobat entries and select "Use Adobe Acrobat(in Firefox)" or as you wish.

Using PI 7.0 to handle moving a PDF document into a SOAP Message & sending

Here is our situation. We have the business writing all invoices for a day out of SAP to disk formatted as a PDF document; meaning, if the file is FTP'd from the disk of SAP to an NT server inside our firewall it is recognised as a PDF by Windows and Adobe.
After we read the PDF, I need to add it as the payload to a SOAP message that will be sent to the web service of a partner out side our firewall. They will extract the PDF from the SOAP Message and print the invoices... stuff the envelopes ... and post them.
I have been trying to use the file adapter to "pick up" the PDF and the SOAP adapter to send... Obviously, it is not working and I need some assistance. I am new to XI, so any advice will be greatly appreciated.

1.If the partner webservice supports SOAP attachments then you can send the required attachments from FileAdapter by selecting "Additional Files" check box in the File Sender channel.

2.Else if this not the case i.e., you want to send PDF file stream as part of payload then you need to convert the PDF file stream to BASE64 format then map to one of the field of Webservice structure and then post using SOAP Adapter.
Remember the webservice field length should be enough to carry the BASE64 string otherwise the target application will fail to process the data or it will process data by truncating. Also there should be extra funtionality in target webservice for converting BASE64 format to binary format(PDF file).
But in general the webservices will support attachements. So you can go ahead with Case1.

When using firefox, table lines are displayed in a pdf document when I set them to backround colour not to display borders, can you help?

I am an Web Designer and create PDF files for download from the sites that I develop. I use version 19.0 of Firefox.
Included in these PDF files are tables which display certain data, and I have made some table columns wider with the fill colour the same colour as the table border colour.
Recently table borders have appeared in the filled in areas, which I do not want to happen.
Also the look of the Adobe Reader is different in Firefox. and normal in IE and Opera browser which I also use.
So overall, the the PDF file is not being displayed correctly in Firefox. If I could I would have attached a screen dump of the display error, to help. Can you offer a solution please?

I found a temporal solution which is change the default "previewer" in the Options -> Applications tab

Password to prevent altering ipod

is there a way to set a password that only needs to be entered when making changes to settings or deleting apps. similar to the master password needed to make changes on osx?

I filled in a Word pdf document, sent it to a client who uses Word in Windows 7 and the form appears blank when they open it. They can read the form, but nothing that I filled in. Help!

I was sent a lengthy pdf form that required me to enter data onto it. The sentences appeared compressed on my screen, but I could see everything that I entered. Next emailed it to my boss and when he opened it on his Windows 7 with Word, all of the data that I had entered appeared lost. It was as if I hadn't entered anything on the form. So I asked him to send it back to me. He did and when I opened it on my Mac Book Air, all of the information that I had filled in was there on my screen.
This went back and forth a few times, but the result was always the same. I have been requested to complete the form on a Windows based computer, which will take me hours. Any ideas what causes this problem and how to fix it?

What has this to do with Pages? You probably did this in Preview.

How do I password-protect a PDF document that doesn't let me change the security settings?

I want to password-protect my PDF document (so when I email it, it can only be opened/read by intended recipients as it contains confidential/sensitive information) but when I go into document security, I'm unable to change the Security Method (which is currently set to 'No Security' - not by me). There's a 'show details' icon but it's grey so I can't click on it. What can I do to protect this document from being opened by non-intended recipients?

Ah, yes, I'm using Adobe Reader! That makes sense. Thanks so much for your reply. At the moment, I scan Word documents into my computer and they're automatically converted to PDFs. If I had Adobe Acrobat on my computer, and scanned in documents, would they open in Reader automatically or could I open them in Acrobat and therefore add password protection?

Creating unique passwords for a PDF document

I'm going to be selling a PDF eBook on the Internet.
I would like to know if there is a way to create a unique PDF password for each customer
rather than having every customer have the same password that was created in Adobe Pro.
I purchased a $20 eBook that requires you to enter a unique alpha-numeric
password (given only to me) before the Adobe file shows the eBook contents.
I was given a password upon purchasing and when I downloaded and double clicked
on the PDF file, it had the standard message
"this PDF is protected. Please enter a Document Open Password."
They company selling that product must have found a way to create unique passwords
for each customer with their PDF document.
Any help or comments would be appreciated.

George - what I will be selling is a 650-page PDF eBook. Given the amount of content (especially the quality of the content), it's worth protecting it. LockLizard and such products are too high for a startup like mine. They are geared more for the enterprise business level.
Dave Merchant - I right clicked on the PDF eBook I mentioned in my original post that seems to have a unique password for each customer. On the 'general' tab, it says at the bottom:
"Security: This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer."
I'm not sure if that tells you anything.
What's interesting is that after I cancelled the order for that $20 eBook product, the password still works - so the company using that password system either does not have the capability to revoke access or they simply forgot to revoke access to the eBook for me personally.
BTW, I found out that e-junkie.com has a PDF stamping option that will stamp each buyer's PDF with their name, email address, and transaction number. That would help. But I would still like to have the customer have to login with a unique password or key code to access the eBook contents. Having tenchology that revokes access to the eBook would also be ideal, but that might be too expensive to implement.

PLEASE HELP. Cannot open a PDF document via a link in an email. I am using Mac 10.7.5 and Firefox.

If I receive a PDF document attached to an email by way of an icon, I can double click on the PDF icon and the document opens. HOWEVER, if I receive a link to a PDF document in an email, and I click on the link which leads me to a webpage with another link to a PDF document, when I click on the document, a new web page opens but NOTHING happens - no download box - just nothing.
Please help. This is so frustrating.
Yes, I can right click and 'Save As' - but I don't want to. I want it to open as it used to open - displaying the open PDF document in a new web page.
Then I tried to click on a download button on a website to retrieve my statement - but again, a new web page would open but it would be BLANK. No sign of any download.
When I used to open PDFs on a webpage, I used to get the Download box which asked if I want to OPEN or SAVE. This doesn't appear any more.
Any help would be appreciated.
I have already gone to HD / Internet Plug-ins and deleted the two Adobe PDF plug ins - but this hasn't fixed my problem.

Using importdata to import xml data into dynamic PDF form

Me and my colleagues have a problem using the importData service to import some xml data into an empty PDF form (represented as an XFA input variable).
In the server log I get the error that Only XDP data is supported for XFA forms, however I only have the xml data and not the entire xdp available.
Is this really not possible to to (like importing xml data to a form is possible in the Designer when creating forms).
I hope the scenario is understandable

My scenario is simple, I have one (call it a template xdp/PDF form) and lots of data in xml files (around 1000), that I need to import into the template. Attachments cannot be opened while using browser to open my pdf documents

I've got a problem,can anyone help me out?
Some of my PDF documents got attachments,these attachments can be opened while I using Adobe Reader. After I uploaded those PDF documents to My FTP server and then using my browser to browse those PDF,I can not open these attachments.

Do you have flash player installed on your system for that browser? Did you tried accessing that pdf file from a different browser?

Net use incorrect password

Hi everybody...
Hopefully someone can help me. Since mapping network drives persistant leads to massive slowdowns in explorer.exe if some of the drives aren't connected I wanted to create a simple batch file to map and unmap the network drives.
Thats my batch to map them:
if not exist R net use R: /USER:"domain"\"user" \\"Server"\"Share"\"Folder" "password"
If I leave out "password" and replace it with * I will be asked for the correct password and by typing it in the drive is connected properly.
Somehow my specific password, which I would love to set in the batch itself so it isn't necessary to always type it, doesnt seem to be recognized correctly by cmd.
My password contains the following symbols "=%=%" but in the cmd that opens when i click on my batch it is only shown "=%"
Is there a way to let the cmd know that it has to use the whole term as pw. I have the feeling it is somehow confused and thinks it is a equation or something like that.
Can I put the pw in () or anything to force the exact sequenze of letters, numbers and symbols?

For how CMD identify the characters, if we have used the password with "" or '', CMD would take it as a string type, special characters that must be preceded by the escape character (^) or quotation marks when you pass them as arguments.

How can I use ONE password that serves to open up multiple mozilla functions instead of entering & reentering password?

Firefox just reset itself. Before that, I could enter a safety site, type in 1 password, and thereafter have my username and gmail password automatically display in yellow - saving my entering those two items each time. Since the Firefox reset, I can't figure out how to reset Firefox or Google or whoever it is to do what it used to do. Thanks

JCOerror: This system does not let you log on using a password

"JCOerror: This system does not let you log on using a password"
This is the error message I get from MII tries to connect to the Production ECC using my credentials to perform a BAPI call.
These credentials work fine interactively (using the SAP GUI) and for BAPI calls from MII on SAP Development instances.
I can interpret this message in two ways:
- My login can not log on using password (though I can interactively)
- The server does not allow logging on using password only. (It might require to pre-authorize the connecting server as well).
I guess my question can be if this error requires adding additional rights to my login for the production environment, or if this is a global SAP setup for this system? Or something else?
In either way, what is required to have this work?

Kindly try the following options.
Try executing the BAPI seperately in se37, using your login credentials.
Check whether RFC is enabled for the BAPI.
Check whether the SAP server is details are furnished correctly in "SAP Server"(available under "Data Services") editor.
We can ensure this by checking the connection status link in xMII.(Link is available under "Data Services").
If connection status is "Running" then SAP server setting configuration is fine. Else it is not configured properly.
Try executing the BAPI in BLS(Business Logic Services) using JCO connector.
I believe if any one of these scenarios fail then "Proxy Error" might thrown.
