Is it possible to automatically refresh a report at 15-minute intervals?

I have a user who doesn't want to have to manually refresh his onhand inventory report throughout the day. He would like, instead, for the report to automatically refresh at 15-minute intervals. I cannot find anything in the Desktop, Plus, and Viewer user guides that allow for this. We're currently using Desktop 10.1.2.48 and are deploying Plus and Viewer 10.1.2.54 CP8 after the first of the year.
I have suggested that the user insert the date/time into his report title so he can have a clue how current the data is and then manually refresh the report if he needs to. However, he would still rather have the report refresh itself.
Is this possible?

Hi,
No you cannot automatically refresh a report. Your best option is to use Viewer. You can run a report by posting a URL to the viewer report from your browser. You then create a web page that automtically refreshes the report.
To be honest though, I wouldn't use Discoverer to do this. You should look at Apex which has automatic refresh as an option for the reports and is very quick and simple to set up (and free to use!).

  • 3.1EA2: Automatic refreshing of report brings SQL Dev to front

    Hallo Forum,
today I stumbled upon some strage behaviour of SQL Developer 3.1.06.44.
I have created a report which is actually just a select count(*) from... with some parameter. When I call the report I'm asked for the parameter and presented the result.
So far so good. But when I now set the auto refresh to 30s, SQL Developer jumps to front every 30s or at least tries to do so indicating that by blinking task bar icon.
I think the application should not push around the input focus while refreshing a report. If it's in the background it should stay there and silently refresh its window.
I use SQL Dev 64bit und Windows 7 64bit with JDK 1.6.0_29 and am connecting to Oracle 11.2.0.2.0 64bit on Windows 2008R2 64bit.

    Thank you, Phil.
This worked for me in my quick test case.
Great help, as DBA group wants to allow NON-privileged users (like Developers and QA) to execute ADDM on demand.
Here is my observation for RAC database with two instances.
    I have followed your instructions:
"Performance / Automatic Database Diagnostic Monitor -> Run ADDM"
    Then
    - Uncheck box "By Creating New Snapshot" (this box was checked by default)
    - Provide new "Task Name" (let's say "vr1")
    - Select "Start Snapshot" (this is where my first confusion is: each screen shot # is shown twice, may be because i have two instances of RAC)
    - Select "End Snapshot" (the same way: each SNAP_ID is shown twice)
    - and finally APPLY button is pressed
    This creates 3 reports:
    vr1
    vr1$1 (for instance_id=1)
    vr1$2 (for instance_id=2_
So, my question is: this expected and normal behavior of the tool?
What if my RAC database has 8 instances? Then I would generate 9 separate ADDM reports?
    Is this correct observation?
    Thank you,
    vr

  • Automatically refresh a report when it loads.

    Hi,
I have a report created against the service request object which is accessed from the SR page using a weblink. However when the report is displayed it does not always show the current data. I have to click the 'refresh' link at the end of report to get it to display the correct data. Ideally I would like to avoid the user having to click 'refresh' so.....
Does anyone know how i could get the report to refresh automatically when it loads so that it always shows the current data?
    Thanks in advance

Contact C/C they will be able to help you with that

  • How to automatically refresh crystal report's viewer content

    Hello,
How can I force a periodic reload of the contents of a report as displayed in crystal reports viewer? (without clicking anywhere)
The idea is simply to update the content of the screen with fresh data, that could be used as a monitoring screen.
The update must not require user intervention (no clicking, no prompting for parameters).
We are using a jsp page CrystalReportsViewer.jsp , CRJ update 2
I assume this is quite standard, and that there is a way using a javascript reload function, but I cannot find any example anywhere.
Does someone know how to do this?
    Thanks in advance!
    Matt

There's no public API on the client-side JavaScript to trigger the refresh button, but I do know some people trap the HTTP traffic (using something like Fiddler or Charles) to figure out what to do, then inject JavaScript.
I personally don't have any sample codes for this.
    Sincerely,
    Ted Ueda

  • Refresh a report every 15 minutes

    Hi All,
Is it possible to have a report opened in InfoView and it automatically updates itself every 15 minutes?
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi Antoine,
yes - you can do this with the sheduler. Below your Report in InfoView you have the Option "shedule". There you can set the "every 15 minutes shedule".
After that you view the report via "View latest instance" also below your Report name.

  • How do you refresh a report after an update?

    Hi all,
I have a Welcome Page that has several Portlets on it. One of the Portlets is a QBE report. From the report a user can click on a column record and be transported to a form, where the user can modify the record. Once the user is satisfied with the changes, the user hits the UPDATE button and is transported back to the Welcome Page. The only problem is that the Report has not been updated. Refresh does not work on the web toolbar and the only way I figured out on how to refresh the report is to go into the 'Customize' page and make some sort of change and hit O.K. After that, I am redirected back to the Welcome Page with the Report refreshed with current data. How can I refresh the report, without going into the 'Customize' Page? What code does the 'Customize' page do, to automatically refresh the report? I am using Portal 9.0.2.2.14.
    TIA,
    Dan

    Hi,
This is due to webcache. You can solve this problem by calling the page url with an extra parameter. That way the page would get invalidated.
    Say the page url is
    http://domain/portal/page_pageid=33,32951&_dad=portaldad&_schema=portalschema
then you should call the page like this
    http://domain/portal/page_pageid=33,32951&_dad=portaldad&_schema=portalschema&1=2
This just adds a dummy parameter at the end and hence invalidates the cache.
    Thanks,
    Sharmila

  • How to prevent an automatic refresh of a dashboard

    Hi,
Currently OBIEE automatically refreshes all reports of a dashboard once it's selected. This often causes a heavy load on our databases. The question is: how can I prevent an automatic refresh? I only want the dashboard to be refreshed once I click on the "Go" button of the dashboard prompt!
    TIA,
    Erik
Edited by: Erik on 25-Mar-2011 12:09

    Hi Eric,
In the dashboard, better create a landing page. In this landing page just add the dashboard object (link or image).
Once this is configured, user have an option to navigate to the report through link.
Even we can configure the common prompts/ global prompts at the front (Landing page) with the note to the user on navigation.
By this way, you can have the control of dashboard refresh.
    Thanks,

  • Automatic Refresh not happening on BAM Report in Active Viewer

    Hi,
I am on SOA 11.1.1.4 and is connecting to an External Datasource (Oracle Database) to create Data objects. But when i am creating a report on it, I am not able to see the report in Active viewer getting refreshed automatically instead I have to Reprompt for the changes. I want the reports to automatically refresh after an interval, any help will be highly appreciated.
    Regards
    Ayush

Is your popup blocker turned off? I can only imaging that the popup blocker may be keeping the Live Data window from appearing and updating the dashboard. Active Studio doesn't do a Live update, but an update on report load.

  • Automatically refresh the OBIEE report

How to refresh a OBIEE report automatically, when the data in the database changes?

    Thanks for the reply.
I have to refresh the report only when the data in the database changes. If I use a variable then I would have to set the variable to some fixed number of seconds and the report would be refreshed every 'n' seconds. That is not what is expected.

  • Refresh Webi reports automatically after BI data loads ?

    Hello,
We are about to install BOE X.1 on top of BI 701.
The idea would be that the users would perform their WebI daily reporting, but obviously only after SAP BI night batch scheduling is finished, and the BI infoproviders filled.
I've read that BOE ofers you the ability to refresh the reports upfront.
We were wondering if there is a way to easily implement this logical dependance : to refresh the Webi Report only after the end of BI data loads.
There is off course, the possibility to use an external scheduler, but we have checked the licencing and it's quite expensive.
Is there another way to do so ?
    Many thanks for your attention.
    Best Regards.
    Raoul

    Hi Alan,
Thank you very much for your quick answer.
I would like to make sure that I understand you since I'm not very familliar with BOE :
First , we create an event in the CMC and connect it to a file location
Then we schedule the document and add the file event : do you mean schedule the webi report  ?
Finally create the file  as part of the Bex query refresh process : how exactly do we do that, in the BI process chains ?
Thank you very in advance for your help.
    Best Regards.

  • Automatic refresh of the tabforms, is that possible?

every time I open an "old" tabform I see the old information and I must refresh it by selecting the refresh button. Is there a setting so that the page will automatic refresh, everey 5 minutes or so, like in the internetbrouser Avant Brouser?

Dear Swarnava, You gave me an answer but... I can't find that answer. Where can I read it?

  • Error while refreshing a report using local csv file

    Hi,
    I'm using BI 4.1 SP02.
While using Rich client, I've created a report with some merged queries, while one of the queries is a local CSV file - saved on AD in some server, and not on the repository inside BO.
While trying to refresh the report with the Rich client, it all went great.
Now, while using BI Launchpad java based app, I can't refresh the report - I get the following error:
"An Internal error occurred while calling 'processDPCommandsEx' API. (Error: ERR_WIS_30270) (WIS 30270)"
Should I be able to refresh a report without the Rich if it contains a local file (which is possible to EDIT only with rich) ?
If so, then did someone ran into this error?
    Thank you,
    Or.

First of all, thanks for both of the replies.
    Second,
my problem is unlikely have to do something with permissions from one reasons -
when the report is using XLS\XLSX on same folder(with same name prefix) - the report is running without any problem.
Only problem is while refreshing without Rich while the source is network CSV file.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

  • Is it possible to schedule a Webi report based on another input, i.e. expose a time in which a process was finished.

These are Webi, user created reports.
Is it possible to schedule a Webi report based on another input, i.e. expose a time in which a process was finished (this can be obtained via a SQL call, service call, etc).
The issue is that if a user schedules a report for 9PM but a process to move data, etc has not completed then that forces the user to keep re-freshing the report hoping that the process has been complete.
Ideally, in the selection UI add to the dropdown for 'when' the option 'Use Process X completion Time' (since it is a daily report).
Then starting around 9PM check to see if that 'time" value is populated then refresh (run) the report. Or it could just be a flag that the process has finished.
User's in the webi environment are asking for this, and moving their reprots to BO is not an option. That's why they have the custom webi enviroment.
    Thank you.

There is no very good way to create a working event based on a file as the file will need to be deleted as soon as the event is triggered. However there are work around which can be done for this. Here is a link which is discussing about the process.. http://scn.sap.com/thread/1677109
Once you have created a file based even in CMC > Events> System Events and made a work around program to delete the file once the event is trigged all you would need to do in webi is in launchpad just schedule > Events > select the file based event from all available system events. Here is a screenshot how to make a report run based on a event..
