Is it possible to create variables automatically?

I am adding this piece of code to a method. I will have no idea how many times this method will be run but each time the method is run it should add my image to the panel at the coordinates passed to the method. The problem I am having is that I need the previous images to be held on the panel, along with the new image, I don't want it to go away when I add another one.
JLabel label = new JLabel();
label.setIcon(newImageIcon(getClass().getResource("/img_package/image.gif")));
label.setBounds(x, y, l, w);
panel.setLayout(null);
panel.add(label);So the only way that I know to solve this is to create many JLabels but there has to be a better way to do this as it would be a massive waste of resources and it would be badly written code.
Does anyone know a way to do this?
I know I am not very clear, please let me know if you need me to clarify anything, thanks.

I agree with what tjacobs01wrote in reply #1: what
you have in your original post looks fine. Thatcode
will create a new label and add it at the
desired coordinates. I don't understand what the
problem is.Yes it will create a new label and place it where I
want it but the next time the method is run it will
put the image at another location and will not hold
the first image, I would like it to hold the first
image as well.Yes, it will create a new label. Yes, it will be added to the panel. Depending on the LayoutManager it may replace the component that was there previously. Either use a different LayoutManager that does what you want or supply different constraints. You can't add 10,000 labels to any area of a BorderLayout for example.

  • Is it possible to create Automatic Scheduled Agreement like Automatic PO

    Could you please explain, is it possible to create an automatic schedule agreement from the PR, PIR (ie.e viz.. as Creation of Automatic Purchase Order)

    Hi
    Why you want to generate the Scheduling agreement automatically?  What is the requirment? Volume is high?
    As Sridhar mentioned you have no option in standard SAP to create automatic scheduling agreement. But you can create delivery schdule via MRP.
    If you have more volume then go for developing the program with ABAP guys.
    if the requirment is for Cut over only then go for LSMW or BDC options.

  • How to create variables for offsets?

    Hi BW Experts.
    I have a tricky one that has been posted before, but I couldn't get my head around a feasible answer just yet.
    My customer wants to be able to display his ageing AR report with different buckets, depending on the month.
    For example, if it's January he wants to see buckets for 1-30 days, 31-60 days, 61-90 days and 91 to 120 days.
    If it's February, he wants to see buckets for 1-28 days, 29-58 days, 59-88 days and 89-118 days.
    If it's March, he wants to see buckets for 1-30 days, 31-58 days, 59-88 days and 89-118 days,
    and so on.
    We have create a structure in the query, filtering the key figure 0DEB_CRE_LC by 0NETDUEDATE. We have a variable for 0NETDUEDATE as a starting date and use different offsets to get the buckets. However, the offsets need to be hard coded, preventing us the flexibility of choosing the days in the buckets.
    Is it possible to create variables for the offsets, so the user can choose the days for the buckets at the report run time?
    Thanks in advance.
    Kind regards,
    Aline Passos.

    Hi Aline,
    as user is entering 0NETDUEDATE & he needs different buket for different months, which are more or less decided well in advance, I believe it cane be handled by User Exit varaibles which will draw value from the variable value you have entered & go backward.
    you will need to write the ABAP code with your logic to drive the correct user exit values.
    hope it helps
    regards

  • Creating variable for attribute

    Hi guys,
    Is it possible to create variable for an attribute. My requirement is that the user wants Serial # as one of the user selection criteria which is an attribute of system code equipment in Dimension material. If not, is there any other possible way to get it in user selection criteria when the report is run.
    Thanks in advance.

    you cant create a variable on attribute of a char.
    other work around is to make Serial # a navigational attribute both in the IO (system code equipment) and in the cube maintenance too. That way in the report the attribute will be available as any other char in the cube.

  • Is possible to create a TO automatically after production order confirmation?

    Hi all
    I have just a question in order to know if we can configurate a procedure to a Production Order, so my question
    is possible to create a TO automatically after production order confirmation in a standard enviroment?
    Thanks in advance for all your comments

    Hi Gurus,
    Thank you for your help in this case.
    Process:
    The customer create a production order in CO01 and then they confirm the order in CO15, after confirmation TR is created ( we can see this in LB10 ) and negative stock is created (  we can see this in LS24 ).
    Requirement:
    They are asking to create the TO automatically after the production order confirmation. Negative stock is afecting the process.
    Workaround:
    They are creating the TO in background in LB10. ( negative is fixed )
    Question:
    Can we create the TO automatically after confirmation in standard configuration?
    if no ,  how can we confirm this TO .using a JOB option?
    TR created after confirmation
        TR header
    LS24 negative units.
    Regards!!

  • Is it possible to create a variable...

    We're working in FM8, is it possible to create a variable (just like you would with a modification date, time) that has the modifier's name or initials? For a specific project, I want to be able to track who's working on which section(s) that way I can hold that person accountable for that particular document.

    ... is it possible to create a variable (just like you would with a  modification date, time) ...
    The examples you give are System Variables, so I'm presuming you want the system to supply this info, and all that it may have is the user's login ID, which may or may not have anything to do with their initials or name. And even this presumes that later versions of Frame can pick this up, which I doubt. I don't see any new constructs for SysVars in FM9 that would be helpful.
    And it would have to be the UID of who opened the file, because who owns the file is often the original file creator, regardless of later updates (and it might even be who created the template file).
    ... that has the modifier's name or initials?
    You can of course create an ordinary User Variable, but then you need to get the writers to set it, or overlay a script that forces it.

  • Creating variables in Report Painter

    Hi ...
    I would like to know ... how do I create variable ? I know it is via T CODE GS11, but when run tht, in the next screen it pops up for variable ? What variable do I need to enter ? is this predelivered Eg : CE-PK, or can we create one ? Please advise
    Also, I would like to I have a requirement for a report whereby the format is like this .....
    SALES       CURR MONTH (06/2006)  LAST YEAR
    - Sales IT
    - Sales 1
    - Sales 2
    COGS
    - cogs 1
    - cogs 2
    - cogs 3
    COS
    - cos 1
    - cos 2
    - cos 3
    GROSS PROFIT
    Whereby, SALES = sales it + sales 1 + sales 2, COGS = cogs 1+cogs 2 + cogs 3, COS = cos 1+ cos 2+ cos 3. also GROSS PROFIT = SALES + COGS + COS
    The abpve report is inclusive of Cost Centre and Profit Centre, how acn I utilize the libraray in Report Pianter to create such report, is this possible in Report Painter whereby including Cost center and Profit Centre in one single report
    Pls assist me
    Nathan

    When you create your variable first enter the variable name. Second enter the reporting "table" to use. Third enter the "field'. Press enter. Next enter a default value for your field. Save you variable. It is now ready to use in your report painter.
    Using the PCA reporting tables gives you the profit center but not the cost center. You can only use one reporting table per report. you will need a cctr report for that.
    First create your own libray from GLPCT. Next create your report using your new library. The report painter can do the calculations that you have shown.
    You create a formula in the row or column to calculate your sub totals.
    pls assign points if helpful as a way to say thanks.

  • Is it possible to create a view where table in the From clause changes name

    is it possible to create a view from a from a table like this
    create view my_view as select id, col1, col2, result from <<my_latest_cacahe_table>>;
    the table in the from clause changes the name .
    I have another table which indicates the the latest name of my cache tables. Always there are two records there. The latest one and previous one.
    select * from cache_table_def
    table_name cache_table_name refresh_date
    my_table cache_table245 1/23/2012
    my_table cache_table235 1/22/2012
    create table cache_table_def (table_name varchar2(25), cache_table_name varchar2(25), refresh_date date);
    insert into cache_table_def values( 'my_table','cache_table245','23-jan-2012');
    insert into cache_table_def values ( 'my_table','cache_table546','22-jan-2012');
    create table cache_table245 (id number, col1 varchar2(50), col2 varchar2(20), result number);
    insert into cache_table245 values(1, 'test123', 'test345',12.12);
    insert into cache_table245 values (2, 'test223', 'test245',112.12);
    create table cache_table235 (id number, col1 varchar2(50), col2 varchar2(20), result number);
    insert into cache_table235 values (1, 'test123', 'test345',92.12);
    insert into cache_table235 values (2, 'test223', 'test245',222.12);
    what I need to do is find the latest cache_table name for my_table and use that in my view defintion
    When user select from the the view it always reurns the data from the latest cache_table
    is it possible to do something like this in oracle 11g?
    I have no control on the cache tables names. that is why I need to use the latest name from the table.
    Any ideas really appreciated.

    I've worked up an example that does what you ask. It uses the SCOTT schema EMP table. Make two copies of the EMP table, EMP1 and EMP2. I deleted dept 20 from emp1 and deleted dept 30 from emp2 so I could see that the result set really came from a different table.
    -- create a context to hold an environment variable - this will be the table name we want the view to query from
    create or replace context VIEW_CTX using SET_VIEW_FLAG;
    -- create the procedure specified for the context
    - we will pass in the name of the table to query from
    create or replace procedure SET_VIEW_FLAG ( p_table_name in varchar2 default 'EMP')
      as
      begin
          dbms_session.set_context( 'VIEW_CTX', 'TABLE_NAME', upper(p_table_name));
      end;
    -- these are the three queries - one for each table - none of them will return data until you set the context variable.
    select * from emp where 'EMP' = sys_context( 'VIEW_CTX', 'TABLE_NAME' );
    select * from emp1 where 'EMP1' = sys_context( 'VIEW_CTX', 'TABLE_NAME' );
    select * from emp2 where 'EMP2' =  sys_context( 'VIEW_CTX', 'TABLE_NAME' )
    -- this is how you set the context variable depending on the table you want the view to query
    exec set_view_flag( p_table_name => 'EMP' );
    exec set_view_flag( p_table_name => 'EMP1' );
    exec set_view_flag( p_table_name => 'EMP2');
    -- this will show you the current value of the context variable
    SELECT sys_context( 'VIEW_CTX', 'TABLE_NAME' ) FROM DUAL
    -- this is the view definition - it does a UNION ALL of the three queries but only one will actually return data
    CREATE VIEW THREE_TABLE_EMP_VIEW AS
    select * from emp where 'EMP' = sys_context( 'VIEW_CTX', 'TABLE_NAME' )
    union all
    select * from emp1 where 'EMP1' = sys_context( 'VIEW_CTX', 'TABLE_NAME' )
    union all
    select * from emp2 where 'EMP2' =  sys_context( 'VIEW_CTX', 'TABLE_NAME' )
    -- first time - no data since context variable hasn't been set yet
    SELECT * FROM THREE_TABLE_EMP_VIEW
    -- get data from the EMP table
    exec set_view_flag( p_table_name => 'EMP' );
    SELECT * FROM THREE_TABLE_EMP_VIEW
    -- get data from the EMP2 table
    exec set_view_flag( p_table_name => 'EMP2');
    SELECT * FROM THREE_TABLE_EMP_VIEW
    For your use case you just have to call the context procedure whenever you want to switch tables. You can union all as many queries as you want and can even put WHERE clause conditions based on other filtering criteria if you want. I have used this approach with report views so that one view can be used to roll up report data different ways or for different regions, report periods (weekly, quarterly, etc). I usually use this in a stored procedure that returns a REF CURSOR to the client. The client requests a weekly report and provides a date, the procedure calculates the START/END date based on the one date provided and sets context variables that the view uses in the WHERE clause for filtering.
    For reporting it works great! • Is it possible to create a generic report that accepts the SQL as a param

    Is it possible to create a generic report that accepts the FULL sql statement as a paramater and returns variable results based on this?
    We have a requirement to have a generic export routine to spit out csv's from clicking on a web page hyperlink, which would need to accept a "new" sql statement for every run, each containing different columsn etc that would be needed in the output.
    I was hoping could have a generic Oracle report, exporting delimited data format (and as such not using a layout) and somehow pass in the "new" sql statement as a parameter at run time - each sql statement would be different with different columns etc.
    Is this possible with oracle reports ?
    thanks

    If you need a simple dump of data you could try writing a report with a simple query such as
    select 'Report title or column headers'
    from dual
    &data_query
    then your &data_query parameter could be
    union select col1||','||col2 from data_table
    If you are outputing a comma separated data dump the you can concatenate together your data into a single text field.
    This would allow you to have a simple heading followed by the actual data. I guess you could extend this so that the 'Report title or column headers' from the first query was also a parameter to output your row headings i.e.
    select :column_headings_text
    from dual
    &data_query
    Give it a go and good luck

  • Is it possible to create a spatial view with paramete?

    Is it possible to create a view with parameter like following:
    SELECT GEOM FROM INTERSTATES WHERE MDSYS.SDO_FILTER(GEOM, MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY(2003, 8307, NULL, MDSYS.SDO_ELEM_INFO_ARRAY(1, 1003, 3), MDSYS.SDO_ORDINATE_ARRAY(?, ?, ?, ?)), 'querytype=WINDOW') = 'TRUE'
    so that I can specify ???? at run time.
    If not, is there a way to create a view that perform variable window query?

    You may want to look at application contexts, that way you may have code something like this:
    create or replace context gis_ctx using gis_params ;
    create or replace package gis_params
    as
    procedure set_bounds( minx in number, miny in number, maxx in number,maxy in number );
    end;
    create or replace package body gis_params
    as
    procedure set_bounds( minx in number, miny in number, maxx in number,maxy in number )
    is
    begin
    dbms_session.set_context( 'gis_ctx', 'minx', minx);
    dbms_session.set_context( 'gis_ctx', 'miny', miny);
    dbms_session.set_context( 'gis_ctx', 'maxx', maxx);
    dbms_session.set_context( 'gis_ctx', 'maxy', maxy);
    end ;
    end ;
    To use this method you´ll have to execute
    gis_params.set_bounds(-3,40,-2.9,40.1) ;
    before doing the select.
    SELECT GEOM
    FROM INTERSTATES
    WHERE MDSYS.SDO_FILTER(GEOM,
    MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY(2003,
    8307,

    I think that I can use APEX_UTIL.CREATE_USER, but the user who log into the current application with APEX authentication does not have admin privilege. I guess that the operation might fail. Correct?
    Or, is it possible to create APEX user without admin privs if it is background?
    Thanks in advance,
    Rui

    Hello,

    Yes, correct. To execute APEX_UTIL.CREATE_USER, the current user must have administrative privileges - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10513_01/doc/appdev.310/e10499/api.htm#BABCFBGG .

    I don’t see the relevance of a background process, in this context. The admin privileges demand is there to prevent un-authorized users to open new users, without any control. It seems to me like a recipe for chaos to allow every user to define new users in the application.
