Is it possible to display external data in SAP B1 Grid?

Hi,
If the data reside in SAP B1 DB, it is normal. But if I have some data outside of SAP B1, for example in our old ERP system which is also a MS SQL db. Can I display it a SAP B1's grid? Reading external data shouldn't be a problem, but can I display it in a standard SAP B1 grid? I checked Grid object all method or properties, seems no way to load an external data source or manually create column and rows. Any idea?

Thanks for your reply. Can you describe more detail about how to map an UDF to other DB? I check the UDF management menu, I didn't see any menu which allows me to link to external DB. The only similar option is you can set a linked table for the UDF, but that only applies to the UDO table inside SAP B1 DB. Also, UDF is just a field and usually my external data is a query which returns me rows with mutiple columns. I tried the UDO table, nothing can be found to allow me connecting to an external DB.

I've tried to use hierarchy node variables, but it seems like you can't specify a attribute of the hierarchy such as level. So with the WBS hierarchy, if you create a hierarchy node variable, you specify the WBS value to select (If I understand this correctly). I wish I could instead specify "give me all the WBS nodes that happen to have the value of the level attribute greater or equal to 3. If I understand Juergens post, he is saying make security access so that only certain WBS levels can be returned in the query. I suppose we can try that, but that would then preclude getting the level 1 and 2 in the future if the authorization is global.

Powerview displaying external data

Can someone please tell me if a Prowerview report hosted in an Office 365 Power BI site can display external data from on-premise SSAS mutidimensional or tabular cubes without importing the data into the data model. The reason for this is that we are not
allow to store data overseas.

Possible to display external web page??

Hi everyone,
is it possible to display an external webpage by, for example, specifying the URL of the page? It would work a bit like frames.
I have a table with a list of reports, each of which links to a "report". all data is obtained from a database.
We need to be able to click a report and have it load it into some sort of panel or layout container based on the URL. I know how to do it using links in the table to open a new page. but i do not want the user to navigate away from the page or have a popup when selecting a link. i'd place the "report placeholder" in a layout panel with scroll css settings.
I wouldn't mind working with frames either.
could anyone suggest a nice mechanism to either load an external page in the same one being viewed or a solution using frames (is it even possible to use frames in JSC2 and JSF??)?
i don't need anyone to give me a whole code, just the idea behind developing something like this.

I did the following to display an external website:
StaticText st = new StaticText();
st.setText("<iframe id='urlFrame' frameborder='0' src='http://www.yahoo.fr' height='100%' width='100%'>test.....</iframe>");
st.setEscape(false);
However, I read that it is also possible by putting a markup component with tag attribute set to "iframe" but I did not have a chance to test it yet.

How to load external data to SAP BW?

Hi All,
I try to load data from external application to SAP ware house using RFC, as i am new to SAP BW, I would like describe my question as below.
1. I have run RFC server in my local machine and resister in the SAP system successfully.
2. In the source system, i click check, connection OK.
3. Create DataSource in the Data Sources.
4. Create InfoSources, it contain two rows. but when i try to create transformation, it always give the message "Source doese not exists".
I am not sure why this happened, could you please give some advices. Besides, where can i get some tutorial document of this operation on SDN?

This is such a vast topic. There are multiple ways to load data into BI. It could be through Flat Files, or through Web Services, from R/3 etc..

There are three ways you can load Master Data in BPC
1) Copy and paste.
Download master data in flat file .Copy the master data and paste in members of dimension after that process the dimension.
2) Using SISS Pakage - load Flat File into BPC-Cube
3) Using SQL Command.

How to display data from a database ?
A developer wants to give me the code that displays data (text and graphics) corresponding to an SQL query. I put a button behind each request.
Example. Display the blue objects, displaying the red objects, etc..

Upto my knowledge, this is not possible. Because, you can display the Infocube data only once the fact table is filled with generated SIDs. And this will not happen untill the database write happened in the current DTP request.
There can be a chance( I am not sure on this, but please check once), if your data load is running with say 10 datapackages and 3 outof them are finished then you may be able to see the data came from those 3 data packages.
If anyone can please confirm, whether it is possible or not?

yes, this is possible. We are doing something similar - we upload .xls files through a functional module WS_UPLOAD in a transparent z table and then we work over the entries . You could do that either through TCD or write directly in the database (not recommended).

I assume that your requiremen is related to smartform.the below is the solution i suggest.
As per my understanding of your requirement ,It's clear that as of now there is some description field which is also getting displayed along with other PO fields.
However you would like to display the description field in a new line since the length of this field is longer than other fields as a result the data is getting scattered .
Therefore one better option could be: since the whole data from PO would be in a loop you can display all other fields in one line type of the table as per the intial requirement and you display the description line alone in a new line type wth the desired length so that data would not be scattered and no data loss would happen.
I assume you are aware of creating of line types for table.

Does you mean that you need ALV without default Function Toolbar...? If this is the case, the easy solution would have been to use Table Element rather. But, if you need to use ALV only without Function Toolbar, you can do away with that as well.
In that case, after calling GET_MODEL, you need to add few more lines of codes to achieve your goal. Those lines are --

Here as you can easily notice that LV_VALUE is instantiated on CL_SALV_WD_CONFIG_TABLE. Now, using this LV_VALUE, you set standard functions as False to dis-allow their display.

Display of data based on priority

Hi All,
I have a requirement of displaying data based on the priority of numbers.
Example: There are 3 Part Numbers- 342, 310, 317.
I want to store this data in Lookup table(Multi).
Is it possible to display the data based on the number like 310, 317 & then 342.
Is there any other option to do this?

Is it priority or is it sorting of records?
If this is sorting then you can do it in data manager, in your lookup flat just click on field name (column name) data manager automatically sort the record or right click on column name>sort>ascending/descending.
If this is priority case then please elaborate more.
Howevere, In multivalued field when you will take say 310 and 317 in main table record and do search on it in both the cases 310 and 317, DM will display same field means this record will be common in 310 and 317.
if your question is concerned to different tings, please explain.

As I understood you attached a file to WBSE and that file
is not showing in the project structure.In standard it doesn't show
in the project structure. With DMS & CAD (2D,3D viewer) integartion it is possible to
display the document in SAP screen.
If my understanding is wrong you can elaborate your post and do revert.

Starting external programms via SAP XI

Hello everybody,
is it possible to start external programms via SAP XI?
I have following scenario:
A user in a webapplication should approve a process. Then a file which is on a fileserver should be encrypted und should be sent via ISDN (external programms are responsible for this doing).
Can SAP XI handle this requirement? Does it make sense? Or should the webapplication starts this programms without SAP XI?

Thanks a lot for the information. It worked.
The portlet data can be accessible using bindings, but parameter name can be different.
Meanwhile I have got one more scenario, where the Portlet and Task Flow placed in different pages of WCP Application. On change of data in the Portlet the application should navigate to another page where the Task Flow placed and displays selected data.
Basically I can not use any button for navigation. The navigation should happen once I do some action in Portlet.
Is this possible? If yes can you please let me know the steps?
