Is it possible to load data at aggregated level directly

Hi All,
My question may sound vague but still would like to clarify this.
Is it possible to load data at some higher level than the leaf level? The reason for asking this question is that we are facing severe performance issues while loading the cube.
We are trying to reduce the number of members which inturn can reduce the loading time. On this attempt to reduce the number of members client said that there are 3 million leaf members(out of 4.3 million total members) for which they do not bother if they appear on report or not but they want to see the total value correct. i.e. the dimension will be only loaded with 1.3 million(4.3 - 3) members but the total can still be correct(including the 3 million leaf members).
Is it possible to have two loads one at leaf level only and other at parents and above levels.
DB - 10.2.0.4
Also I want to know when do we use allocmap? how does this work?

Hi Carey,
Thanks for your response.
I worked on your suggestion and I could able to load data at higher level for a value based hierarchy. But I met with a other problem while doing this.
I am describing this as a level based but while loading we are converting to value based hierarchy.
we have following levels in the customer dimension having two hierarchy
hier1
lvl1
lvl2
lvl3
lvl4
lvl5
prnt
leaf
hier2
level1
level2
level3
level4
prnt
leaf
so prnt and leaf is common levels are common in both the hierarchies but we were facing multipath issues in second hierarchy and we work around it by concatenating the level name.
In attemp to decrease the number of this dimension member(currrently 4.3 million) business suggested that there are some kind of customer for which they dont want to see the data at leaf and prnt level instead the level4 or lvl5 should have the total consisting of those members. So by this way we need not to load those members and they were making up 2.4 million out of 4.3
To implement above I did following.
1. Created six hierarchies.
one to have members from level4 till level1
second to have members from lvl5 till lvl1
third to have all members of hier1
fourth to have all members of hier2
fifth will have leaf and prnt of hier1
sixth will have leaf and prnt of hier2
In fifth and sixth hierarchy leaf is common but prnt is different due to the concatenation.
In the cube I am selecting the aggregation hierarhies as first, second, fifth and sixth. hierarchies third and fourth will be used for viewing the data.
Fact will have data corresponding for leaf level data,level4 and lvl5.
The challenge I am facing is that if there is some fact value for leaf level loaded through relational fact but no value being loaded through fact for lvl5 or level4 I am not seeing the total value as leaf value is aggregating till prnt level and no value at level4 or lvl5 so same is propagated till lvl1 and level1.
I tried to be as clear as possible but still if there is any confussion pls update the thread. I understand that the approach is vague but I am not seeing any other way.
Thanks

  • AWM dimension mapping - is it possible to load data from two input tables ?

    Hello All
I have two tables ProductFamily (parent level) and Products (child level).
I want to load a dimension from these two tables where the parent-child relationships are maintained (I am using AWM).
I created a mapping with these two tables as input, but the data loaded does not maintain the relationships.
So how do I do that? Is it possible to load dimensions where different levels get data from multiple tables?
Is there any type of joiner available in AWM?
    thanks
    Few Notes:
    - I do not want to use OWB here as my data is clean
    - In AWM, When I loaded the data from a single view which contained data from both input tables, it worked fine. But this is my worst case option.

You should use the Snowflake Dimension option in the Dimension mapping screen for the Product Dimension (as opposed to the default dimension mapping style - star schema).
This will modify the mapping inputs to include a separate parent level key for each hierarchy/level i.e. for each hierarchy/level (unless topmost level of hierarchy), you need to specify the parent level key in addition to the current level key, code/name/description/other attributes etc.
You can do the mapping in either .... use icons at the top of the mapping screen.
the drag/drop mode by dragging the relational column onto dimension model - hierarchy/level/attribute
    -or-
the table expression mapping mode which gives the same effect.. dragging a column onto an attribute sets the expression in <schema>.<table>.<column> format.
    HTH
    Shankar
Note1: Complete the mapping in one go.. Switching b/w the mapping modes cause the mappings to be reset.
Note2: Assume your data is correct, foreign key to parent level table: ProductFamily exists in child level table: Products.

  • BPC 7.5 : Is it possible to load data from ECC to BPC

    Hi,
Is it possible to load data from ECC to BPC in BPC 7.5 Netweaver version.
    Thanks
    Prasad Bobburu

    Option 1 -
ECC -> BW -> BPC NW (Standard, or recommended for NW)
    Option 2
ECC -> BW -> Openhub / Flat file -> BPC MS
This is more common for SAP customers, who are using BW, but running MS version
    Option 3
ECC -> ABAP Extractor Program (generated flat file) -> BPC
Again a more common for SAP customers using BPC MS

  • Is it possible to load data from attribute of I.O. to text of the same I.O.

    Hi guys,
is it possible to load data from attribute of InfoObject to text of the same InfoObject.
I have this requierement: the text (description long) of InfoObject should be filled defends on the content of one attribute of this InfoObject.
Is it possible via Update Rule? (we are using BW3.5)
    And how?
    Thanks in adance!
    Regards

    HI,
1st) activate your object as data target and do the assignment in the transfer or update rules.
--- How can I active my InfoObject (Text if the InofoObject)as data target?
Right Click your info area and choose " Insert characteristics as a Datatarget" and give your info object Id.
    2) create a generic datasource on the p-table of your object and assign that datasource as text datasource to your object.
--- How can I create a generic datasource on the p-table of your object ?
For Eg: your info object name is like this
    ZIO_CID
For this P table will be like this
    /BIC/PZIO_CID
In RSO2 tcode Generic datasources create datasource based on this table .
    Hope it helps

  • Can we load data for all levels in ASO?

    Hi All,
    Im creating cube in ASO
can i load data for all levels in ASO
we can load data for all Levels In BSO but in ASO i need confirmation????
    and one more
wat is the consider all levels option in ASO is used for ? wat is the purpose?
Can any one help ,it would be appriciate.
    Thanks

In an ASO cube you can only load to level zero
The consider all levels if used for aggregation hints. It allows you to tell the aggregation optimizer to look at all levels when deciding if aggregation needs to be done on the dimension

  • Can we load data for all levels in ASO cube

    Hi All,
Can we load data for all levels of members in ASO cube in 9.3.1.
    Regards

Yes you can load data for all levels in an ASO cube in any version HOWEVER, none of the upper level data in any cube will be there when you look for it. You will get a warning message in the load because ASO cubes don't store data at upper levels. It is the same as loading data into dynamic calc members in BSO cube. It will do the load without compalints, but there will be no data there (At least you get the warning in ASO)

  • Possible to load data to an account with formula in ASO ?

For example, if we calculate an account for the forecast periods and load data from HFM to the same account for the actual periods, it seems that it’s not feasible?
If you put formula on one account, even if the periods are specified not to calculate for the actual months, it will still not let me load anything to it.
Is there a common way to solve this? Or do I just have to create a different account?

As Glenn said, can't be loaded.
    Your other options are:
    1. Calculate the value outside of Essbase / derive it in ETL / fudge it via load rule (yuk) etc...
    2. Create an extra 'Input' account, tell the formula to pick from the 'Input' account for actuals and derive for forecast
    3. Calculate in Essbase with an ASO procedural calc - trickier to implement if you haven't done it before, but would look cleaner than an extra account - might give better retrieval performance too, depending on what your derivation of forecast does
    4. Similar to the 'extra' account but in the Scenario dimension; add a 'ForecastInput' member and place a formula on the 'Forecast' member. You'd have to make Scenario dynamic but beyond the overhead of the Forecast derivation itself I can't see that this would cause problems with a typical, non-aggregating Scenario dimension
1, 3 and 4 may look cleaner if you end up having to apply the same calculation to lots of different accounts in future, rather than just one.

  • Loading data at parent levels

I have actuals data available at the day level but plan is available only at month level. Month is level 1, and I'm thinking about loading plan to this level. Are there any problems with doing this? What are the things I need to be careful about? I will be doing a nightly level 0 export of the data, clearing the database, reloading the export, then loading new data and calc-ing the cube. Thanks for your help.

Well, there are a few problems to worry about. First, you must ensure that your database is not set to Aggregate Missing Values (database seting) - otherwise your upper level values will be made #Missing if all of the children are #Missing.Second, if you want to write back to level 1 of Time, you cannot make those members Dynamic calc, which takes away a big optimization tool. It is probably easier (from a cube admin perspective) to either create dummy members to load the plan to, or chosing one month in each quarter in which to input the plan. At the upper levels of time, the data will look the same as if you input it at that level.Regards,Jade----------------------------------Jade ColeSenior Business Intelligence ConsultantClarity [email protected]

  • Loaidng data to Parent level using ERPi

    Hi All,
We have a scenario that we have to load data from GL_Balance to Planning and HFM using ERPi at Parent level, is this possible to load data at parent level using ERPi..
    SVK

FDM does not impose any rstrictions on what you can load into HFM it just respects the load constraints of the target system i.e. if you can't do something directly in HFM you won't be able to do it via FDM. In HFM data can only be loaded to base level members not parents, parents are calculated and are not stored i the HFM database. Therefore you will not be able to load to parent level members in HFM. You can sometimes have excptoions to this but only if the HFM developer has written specific rules to allow this.

  • Is it possible to load flat file data residing on a local machine via BODS 4.2 or flat file should reside on BODS server?

    Hi All,
I have a requirement to load data from flatfiles stored on particular location, on a machine on which BODS client istallation is there.
I am able to create a flat file format by browsing the file location and giving file name.I can view the file data also.
But when I execute the job, job failswith the error "Cannot open file <D:/BODS_flatfiles/result.txt>. Check its path and permissions".
Please let me know whether it is possible to load data from flat file on a local machine, which has BODS4.2 client installated on it or the flat file should reside in a path in BODS job server ?

  • To load data from a cube in SCM(APO) system to a cube in BI system.

    Experts,
Please let me know whether it is possible to load data from a cube in SCM(APO) system to a cube in BI system. If so explain the steps to perform.
    Thanks,
    Meera

    Hi,
    Think in this way,
To load the data fro any source we need datasource Ok. You can genare Export data source for Cube in APO,  then use that datasource for BW extraction, try like this. I think it will work, in my case I'm directly loading data from APO to BW using the DataSource sthat are genaraed on Planning Area.
Why you need to take data from APO cube?. Is there any condition for that?. If it is not mandatory, you can use the dame datasource and load the data to BW, if they have any conditions while loading the data from APO to APO cube, they you try check wherther it is possible in BW or not. If possible then you use DataSource and do the same calculation in BW directly.
    Thanks

  • How can I load data with Scripts on *FDM* to a HFM target System????

    Hi all!
I need help because I can´t find a good guide about scripting on FDM. The problem I have is the next one.
I have on mind to load my data with data load file in FDM to a HFM target system, but I would like to load an additional data using an event script, ie after validate. I would need any way to access to HFM system though FDM Scripts, is it possible??
If so, It would be wonderful to get a data from HFM with any Point of View, reachable from FDM Scripts in order to load or getting any data.
I´ve looking for a good guide about scripting in FDM but I couldn´t find any information about accessing data on HFM target system, does it really exist?
    Thanks for help

    Hi,
Take a look at the LOAD Action scripts of your adapter. This might give you an idea.
Theoretically it should be possible to load data in an additional load, but you need to be very careful. You don't want to corrupt any of the log and status information that is being stored during the load process. The audit trail is an important feature in many implementations. In this context it might not be a good idea to improve automation and risk compliance of your system.

  • Load data from file and send to background

Hello, is it possible to load data from a file on the presentation server and then create a batch input to call a transaction with those values but on background NOT using data set?
    Thanks in advance.

U can surely design the process to be executed in various ways..one of them is as below ::
    Upload ABAP.
    1. It reads the file from the presentation server and exports it into INDX database with a specific filename.
    2. Updates a ztable with user/upload date and time/filename/status=U.
    Batch ABAP.
    1. It reads the ztable for all the files with status=U.
    2. Using the filename IMPORTS the data from INDX database.
    3. Creates the batch input to call transaction.
    4. Sets the status as process along with process date and time.
With the above you can have multiple uploading data and batch job picking up each file and doing the needful.
