Is it possible to scale an object with a grain effect?

Is it possible to scale an object with a grain effect?
It seems that checking "scale strokes and effects" doesn't work for grain at all. Scaling up image makes grain much more delicate and smooth. Any ideas?

Jacob,
Thanks! That worked as I wanted to.
Your answer is most appreciated.

How to separate an object with a 3d effect
Hi, I have outlined some text and applied a 3d effect but now I want to separate each letter so I can adjust the colour on the face of the letter with the colour on the extruded part.
I am sure it is probably straight forward but could do with a little help!
    Thanks

I think what the OP wants to do is to keep the extruded part the same color and change the face of the letters to different colors. And he/she did mention that the text is outlined.
If that's the case, I can think of two things to do if you want to keep the 3D effect live (i.e., unexpanded).
    1. You could apply a stroke to the outlined text, in the color you want for the extruded part. Then just change the fills individually (Tip: view in Outline mode and use the Group Selection tool to select each letter).
    2. If you don't like how the stroke looks on the letters, make all the letters the same color — the color you want for the extruded part. Then make a copy of this group of letters. Select the copy, then click in the Appearance panel to to edit the 3D effect. Put the Extruded Depth at Zero. Now chnage the colors to your liking, then align them with the original. Interestingly, you can't just use the Align functions, you have to eyeball it.

  • Scale grouped objects with preserving font size

    Hallo!
I wonder whether this is possible. I would like to have two objects grouped - a square and a text, let's say at the top left corner within the square. Now i would like to "lock" the font size to 12pt. Whenever I scale and move the square, the font size remains at 12pt and is located at the top left corner within the square. Can I do this?
    Thanks,
      Ralph

ALWAYS state WHAT VERSION of Illustrator you are using.
Illustrator still does not provide any kind of dynamic object-connection features (connector lines, callouts, dimensions, etc.) like most decent drawing programs have for many years.
If the rectangle and text were truly all you wanted, you could do that by simply making the text object a so-called AreaType object, and giving its frame path the stroke/fill desired. You could then simply set the AreaType Options to control placement of the text inside its frame path and scale the object at will by its bounding box handles.
But I assume you really want more than that: You want the text object to be contained within any arbitrary multi-object group, and be able to scale the group without also scaling the text, yet retain the text object's alignment relative to a corner of the rest of the group. You could devise an awkward workaround for that, using so-called Isolation Mode. The following assumes a version recent enough to have Isolation Mode:
    1. Assume a Group containing a Rectangle, a triangle, and a text object. The Rectangle's bounds define the Group's bounds at the corner to which you want to maintain relative positioning of the text object when scaling the Group.
    1. DoubleClick the Group to put it in Isolation Mode.
    2. Select All. Deselect the text object.
    3. Group. Send to Back. Now you have a Group nested inside another Group. The outer Group contains the inner Group and the textFrame. The textFrame is not part of the inner Group.
    4. DoubleClick outside the artwork to exit Isolation Mode.
    5. Now assume you want to scale everything other than the text, and you want to maintain the position of the text relative to the upper-left corner.
    6. DoubleClick the Group to put it in Isolation Mode.
    7. Scale the inner Group by dragging (or ShiftDragging) its lower right bounding box handle.
    8. DoubleClick outside the artwork to exit Isolation Mode.
In pre-Isolation Mode versions, the same thing can be done by using the cumbersome Group Selection Tool to "drill up" to the inner group's level.

  • Multiple Objects With Event Trigger Effects Issue

I have a custom container that derives from the Canvas class that has a bunch of child objects in it. Is there a way to treat all of those objects as a single object in regards to triggering events / effects on them?
For example, my custom container has a 48x48 pixel image and a label overlayed on that image. Eventually there will be quite a few more objects in it but I am keeping it simple for now. I assign a fade in and fade out effect to the custom container triggered by mouse over and mouse out events and set the targets of the effect to getChildren( ). This works in the sense that when you mouse over the image, both the image and the label fade in.
The problem is that if I move the mouse over the image and then continue up across the label, the mouse out triggers for the image and the mouse over triggers for the label cause the fade to "flicker" for a brief instant. When the event listeners are set on the custom component this flickering happens a lot and starts before the mouse even gets to the icon since the canvas and other behind the scenes components of the container surround the image.
I do not want to remove the listeners on the label incase the use triggers the mouse over via the image but then moves the mouse out of the label or vice versa.
Is there a better way to handle this? I was going to start going down the path of checking the mouse position at the beginning of an event to see if it is still over another one of the objects and if so, ignore that event. Is that the right idea or am I overlooking an easier way?
    Thanks.

  • Objects with effects applied to them print with a white background around them

I have an object with a dropshadow effect applied to it. When attempting to print my file, the object with the effect prints with a solid white box around it, blocking out a portion of the objects behind it. Why is this, and how do I fix it? I have tried to apply the "flatten transparency" option to the object with no result. The only way I have found to successfully print this is to import the whole file into Photoshop and print it as a raster file. I would like to preserve this file as vector...

I think the problem lies with your ripper/printer not understanding the higher level PostScript - convert raster effects to greyscale if at all possible - might help...

Is it possible to craete an object with argument constructor with component in atg
if it is possible give me an example

With ATG 10.0.3 and later, you can use an $instanceFactory to create objects with constructor objects or create a Nucleus component from factory (either a static class method, or a method of another Nucleus component).
Documentation (and an example) are here: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E36434_01/Platform.10-1-2/ATGPlatformProgGuide/html/s0208parameterconstructorinstancefact01.html

  • Scaling objects without scaling corner effects

When I scaled an object with Command-> and Command-< in CS3 (Mac), the corner effects would not be scaled. If I had 4mm round corners, they would still be 4 mm after scaling the object. In CS4 however, the corner effects are scaled too. Is there a simple way to scale an object WITHOUT the corner effects? I'm sure it's possible, but I can't find the answer...

Thanks, but that only works when you click and drag to scale. I am talking about scaling with key's only: cmd-< and cmd->. I can't see an option or anything to use those keys and NOT scale corner effects. Okay, of course you could say 'Well, why don't you click and drag then!' but there is a specific document I have to work on every week that almost requires me to use the key commands for scaling.

  • My webpage with parallax scroll effects flickers in internet explorer 11. How can I fix this?

My webpage with parallax scroll effects flickers in internet explorer 11, when using the mouse wheel or the arrows in the scroll bar - Parcerias | Agrupamentos de Escolas | EEA | DGE
It works fine in firefox, chrome and safari.
    How can I fix this?
    Thank you

    Hi FilipaG,
Unfortunately there isn't much you can do. This is a performance issue with IE 11, so the only current way to make the site less jittery is to have fewer effects or group objects with the same effect then apply the motion to the group. Sorry for the inconvenience. You can also post in our feature requests section how you'd like to see easing added to Muse, because that would move all of the objects together much more smoothly than they do currently. Chrome and Firefox in particular have great built in easing so these sites usually look better on them.
    Thanks,

  • Scale Object with Panel, but what about inside a Tab control?

The Scale Object with Panel option works very well for simple UI
objects.  I like to use it for VIs that display tables or
multicolumn listboxes, etc.  I am finding a limitation when I use
the Tab control.  If I have a table or listbox in each tab, I
would like them to scale with the panel.  I would also like the
tab to scale.  It should look like an Excel workbook where all
sheets scale with the window even though they are each on their own
tab.  If I could only Group the various tables / lists with the
    Tab itself....
This wouldn't be such an issue if the Bounds property of the
multicolumn listbox was writable.  I can set the number of rows
and columns, but column size can be variable and not uniform across all
columns.  Also, that solution looks and behaves much different
from the Scale Object with Panel approach.... not to mention the extra
    coding required.
I'm guessing that this amounts to a feature request, but if anyone has a present-version workaround, I'd love to hear about it.
    See you at NI Week!

    Hi Kalin T,
Thanks for your prompt reply. I am running version 8.01. My problem is that i cannot select "Scale object with pane" for the controls inside a Tab control if the Tab control "Scale object with pane" is turned on. I want both the Tab control and the controls inside to be scaled, for instance an Waveform graph or an textbox  when i resize my main window.

  • Why doesn't LabView scale my objects properly in the front panel?

In LabView 6.02 (Windows 2000) I have experienced problems when using the "Scale all objects on panel as the window resizes" option under VI properties. Try the following example: Go to the front panel and draw two arrows (from Decorations), one vertical and one horizontal (make sure they are perfectly straight). Now, resize the window, using the bottom right corner several times. You will soon find that the two arrows become increasingly missaligned and are not perpendicular to each other anymore. The problem gets worse the more you play around with the window size and they will never return to their original state. Installing the 6.02 patch did not seem to help at all.

    Dear Gustav,
First of all, some objects do not scale whatsoever in LabVIEW. These include refnum controls and text.
As far as the "scale all objects on the front panel as the window resizes" option goes, you have brought attention to an issue that I will announce to the R&D team. Currently, when you resize the screen, the objects on the front panel are resized at the same fraction of the original size, yet small rounding errors occur. As you move the window around, this small rounding error multiplies accordingly. Once you maximize the window, the small rounding error is translated into a large-scale degree change in the orientation of the (previously) perpendicular arrows.
What action are you trying to perform that caused this issue? If possible,
please post some screen shots of your front panel or give me explicit details as to your programmatic goal.
One thing that you may try in order to prevent this misalignment and orientation shift is to highlight the arrows. Then, click the "Reorder" button on the toolbar and select [lock]. This will lock the objects and prevent them from resizing while the rest of the screen resizes (see attached image).
Again, I'm sorry if the aforementioned phenomenon causes you any inconveniences, and I will be sure to announce this issue so that preventive changes are implemented in future LabVIEW revisions.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you need any further assistance. Have a great day!
    Kind Regards,

  • Is it possible to scale a text box by % but also transform the contents?

Is it possible to scale a text box by % but also transform the contents?
Object > Transform > Scale only transforms the box.
Grabbing and dragging a corner while holding shift/ctrl is not accurate enough.
    Thanks

Object > Transform > Scale only transforms the box.
Object -> Transform -> Scale of 200% when applied to a text frame full of text works here: frame doubles in size, text doubles in font size.  (CS5.5. and CS6 on Win7)  It works on images, too.
In fact, I almost can't reproduce the behavior you report at all. The exception is this: If in CS5.5. I fill a frame with text, and then select the frame with the Direct Select tool (the white arrow) and use Object -> Transform -> Scale, then just the frame changes in size, and the text doesn't change. When you select the frame, which selection tool are you using?

  • Loading Objects with SQL*Loader

When loading a column object with SQL*Loader, is it possible to specify a column specific 'TERMINATED BY' clause in the control file?
I've successfully defined column-level termination characters for regular columns and nested tables, but can't seem to find any way of achieving the same result with column objects.
