Objects with effects applied to them print with a white background around them

I have an object with a dropshadow effect applied to it. When attempting to print my file, the object with the effect prints with a solid white box around it, blocking out a portion of the objects behind it. Why is this, and how do I fix it? I have tried to apply the "flatten transparency" option to the object with no result. The only way I have found to successfully print this is to import the whole file into Photoshop and print it as a raster file. I would like to preserve this file as vector...

I think the problem lies with your ripper/printer not understanding the higher level PostScript - convert raster effects to greyscale if at all possible - might help...

After searching a number of client computers I found that the following error

Hi all
In administering this policy I am a little confused.
We have a policy that distributes proxy settings in the internet explorer maintenance settings section - however when opening this policy up in GPO editor the internet explorer maintenance section is not present.
I plan to apply the settings via User/preferences/control panel settings/ internet settings (or registry settings from article) however I am unable to edit the settings for internet explorer maintenance and these will persist. Ideas????

Full resolution with effect applied

hi guys,
Still in my effect dependent of downsampling factor.
To be able to do a correct result of my effect I need the full resolution input and not downsample input.
I thought about 2 methods.
1) I render the effect Layer using AEGP_GetEffectLayer and AEGP_RenderAndCheckoutFrame with no dwonsample. Then I get the input, but without any effect applied
2)I render the effect comp the same way. The I get a full resolution the input + my effect applied. This mean I have to render my effect at full resolution any ways.
I wonder if there is a way to render the comp with all effects in full resolution UNTIL my effect (so not all the effect applied after...)
example:
Layer
     E1
     E2
     my effect
     E3
1) gives Layer at full resolution
2) gives Layer+ E1,E2, my effect, E3 at full resolution
I want Layer +E1,E2 at full resolution.

the following doesn't fully answer your question, but it might help.
there are two ways of checking out your own layer (without turning the whole universe upside down):
1. PF_CHECKOUT_PARAM
this old method will give you the checked layer WITHOUT effects applied, whether or not it has effects on it.
2. checkout_layer_pixels
this samrtFx method will give you the layer with it's effects.
so you would probably want to use PF_CHECKOUT_PARAM.
to do that without asking the user to point to the original layer,
add an invisible layer param, and on the set it yourself on the first chance you get (we can talk for hours about what IS the first chance).
it pretty simple:
get effect layer -> get layer id -> set layer id in layer param.
and the user need never know.

I am having problem with trying to install the printer with wireless connection.i have windows 7

the blue light on top of the printer blinks very fast and intermitenly. i cannot install the printer with wireless. I tried with the CD that came with the printer but the green install bar just stops and freezes. I have a 4 month old Dell laptop. Printer just purchased from HP is Laser Jet Professional P1102w.

Are there any third party firewalls installed (e.g. Kaspersky, Norton, BitDefender, etc.)? It sounds like something is blocking the software and third party firewalls have been known to block communication with the printer.
How far in the installation process do you get (what options are you able to get to)?
Is the USB cable connected at the start of the installation?
Do you receive any errors at all? If so, what are they?
Have you tried using Smart Install? Smart Install works by connecting the USB cable to the computer. By default, you should get a prompt to run a file. Running this file starts the Smart Install process.

Lightroom 2.5 not printing with main account user but prints with a new use

I have been troubleshooting all day. My new epson r280 is not printing with LR2.5 though it prints in other applications fine. Called epson and we are sure that I have the latest drivers, etc. Called Adobe and they had me create a new user in accounts in system preferences-accounts. When I tried printing from the "test user" LR printed with my epson printer. Adobe said the problem was with my system permissions and I had to reset my system permissions. This doesn't sound right to me. I ran disk utility and repaired my permissions but LR still doesn't print using my original user. Genius Book suggests going to Library-Preferences and to delete the plist. Does this sound right? And do I delete the p-list for LR or for the epson printer? What happens when you delete a p-list? Will I lose my catalog in LR? I would appreciate any help on this problem.

With windows 7, when I print with "draft" the verticle printing is squiggly. Why?

My hp psc 1210 all-in-one is giving me a few problems since I attached it to my new computer whose operating system is Windows 7 64-bit. It prints fine with my accounting program, but when I try to use any desktop publishing program and print with the "draft" or low ink use setting the verical columns print out wavy and my company logo is kind of disjointed. If I print the logo 2" tall, then the second 1/2" isa little to the left of the 1st 1/2" and the 3rd 1/2" is a little to the right of the 2nd 1/2" and so on. Can someone tell me how to fix this?

Draft mode will lower print quality some but not to the degree you mentioned. This article should get you back on track. Give the steps outlined a shot and let us know if it helps.

Select the pics in the viPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export them to a folder on the desktop. Burn that to disk with the Finder's burn command. Result. A disk with a folder of images that any machine can understand.

Print illustrations on white background; eliminate gray square/rectangle behind images

working on desktop publishing project that will be printed in black white only. Have photoshop images that will be used as illustrations. when I put these images into InDesign and print them, a gray square/rectangle appears behind the image. I cannot eliminate the gray background. it is essential to the project that the images print directly on paper without the background gray. have tried several youtube video lessons but none has been completely successful yet.

I don't quite understand..........I'm using iwork pages, I click on shapes (square), I fill square with pink, I click on media (clips are stored there), picture of butterfly is than place within the pink square. However I would like it so that the picture of the butterfly layout only with the pink background. I don't want the white background. Am I missing something, or I'm just not being clear? The download of Mozilla - Firefox did not fully complete. Why is there nothing except words on a white background, no themes, nothing?

I downloaded Mozilla-Foxfire and it looks like an un-finished program. Although there is a place to add themes and "stuff", nothing appears. The toolbar is the only thing of color. I changed themes and still nothing. I discovered the plugin for Windows XP was not installed, so I installed that and tested it and worked as it said, even installed updated Java, Shockwave Flash, and still nothing. Already have Adobe, & Acrobat. Having a terrible time transferring Bookmarked files from iGoogle. Have been through several support pages and still nothing shows up, except colored toolbar. Some pages have things listed with a line drawn through it. I have tried everything I know and still no changes.

Printer errors on white background

I just got an "Out of Memory" error when printing. Aside from the wasted paper, the error message is printed on a 50% grey background.
On A3 paper at max quality, that's a lot of ink wa$ted.
If we must print error messages on the printer, can we please have them on a white background?

How to find max audio peak of combined audio tracks with effects applied?

Hello all,
I am working in PPro CS5.5.
Often when I am working on a timeline I have two audio tracks of the same songs, one from the camera and one from a separate sound recorder, synced on the timeline so they combine into one signal. Applied to these tracks I might have an E.Q. effect or highpass/lowpass filter. Now I know that the max peak of each track or individual clips is easy to find using the 'Audio Gain' menu item, what I am hoping for is the equivalent of that menu item but related to the final output after the two tracks signal has been added together and effects have been all been applied? It is a very laborious task to have to listen through the whole timeline to discover if the output is going over 0db, if there was a way I could locate on the timeline where the max output is, that would definitely solve the problem.
Finding the way to do this would save literally hours per project! It's the one thing that makes me inwardly groan when I have to effect the output volume, which I have to do most of the time.

I have found audio to be more difficult to learn than video. Audio has so much more subtlety, where perceptions don't always equate to what seems obvious. With multiple tracks adding together things get very complex very fast and peak amplitude has very little relationship to volume. When you compress a waveform the volume can be increased! Who'd have thunk it? Then you have S/N ratios and harmonics, soft clipping and hard clipping... Which brings me to the option on the Dynamics Effect called Soft Clip that is a smoother kind of limiter.
It's amazing where a simple one line suggestion can lead you; having worked a bit more with the dynamics 'effect' I am deciding that I like it a lot. The automation is not absolute but it broadens the tolerances I can work within. Very liberating!

I can only access saved photos in PSE, they are on my hard drive but I can't have them printed and can only look at them in PSE! Why can't I do anything with the photos after I worked them up and saved them?

Issue with running Lexmark Prestige Pro805 printer with iMac running 10.3.9

Thought I'd share this with you in case anyone else runs into this problem.
Recently bought a Lexmark Prestige Pro 805 printer to service a home network. Had no issues with the printer using 10.6 on MacBook Pro, 10.5 on Intel iMac and also running on Laptop with Windows XP all running off same network via USB connection into a Time Machine.
However when tried running this off an iMac PPC using 10.3.9 although I could print after initial install subsequent prints after logging off and on hit the problem of "Unable to read CUPS raster data".
Lexmark driver updates and firmware updates failed to fix issue and contacted Lexmark who advised me to do a complete uninstall and re-install but to same effect. They then determined this was a CUPS issue and I should contact Apple. Looked on this forum and found a message posted in Nov 2005 which suggested doing a disk repair off the original install disk in order to repair corrupted CUPS directories (simple to say after 6 years - where exactly did I put those disks?).
Anyway did this and indeed both permissions and disks needed repair and it fixed the issue.
As it took me a while to get to the answer hopefully by posting this if anyone else comes across this issue they can save some time!

HAVING PROBLEMS WITH OS 10.6.8 PRINTING WITH XEROX PHASER. MacPro crashes when printer warms up. Does anyone have a solution? 6360 DN

I've been using Macs since 1984. Have been using Xerox Phaser printers for ten years. But with the last update to OS 10.6.8 last summer, I've had problems with crashing when printing. My MacPro crashes when printing via ethernet prot with Xerox Phaser 6360DN or when the printer warms up. Worked fine with OS 10.6.7. Internet postings suggest this is a common problem for all Mac users with Xerox Phaser printers. Apple put out an update to 10.6.8 to address the problem. I downloaded it but it did not solve the problem. Have tried all the Xerox drivers along with Apple drivers. Can't solve the problem. Xerox says it's an Apple problem. Does anyone KNOW how to solve the problem?
