Is it possible to scan with an Multifunction Printer Epson Stylus 8300 series trough the USB port of the Airport Extreme?
I have an Epson Stylus 8300 series, and plugged in the USB output of my Airport Extreme, with that I can print without problems from any PC connected to my WiFi network, but can not in any way to scan photos and documents over the network , and every time I need to do this activity, I have to connect my printer directly to the computer. Could someone help me with this problem?
Sorry, but Epson and other manufacturers have not provided full featured drivers that would allow advanced features like copy, scan and maintenance to work when their devices are connected to the USB port on the AirPorts.
Only the print function will work when the All-in-One device is connected to the USB port on the AirPorts.
If you can connect the All-in-One using wireless only or Ethernet, most manufacturers have provided full functionality with these types of network connections.

Can a USB Keyboard/Barcode reader be used with the USB port on the CRio
Is it possible to use a USB Keyboard or Barcode reader with the USB port on the CRio, I know you can use this port with a USB memory device, but what about other devices?

The standard CompactRIO range's USB host ports are not suitable for standard USB devices like keyboards or barcode readers - they are intended only for use of mass storage devices. From your description, it seems your project's requirements would be best met by the newer models, cRIO-9081 or cRIO-9082. These two units have Windows Embedded Standard 7 (WES7) and allow the direct connection of a monitor and standard USB devices. We now also have similar stand-alone CompactDAQ models running WES7 - cDAQ 9139.

I have an optical mouse that came with my Mac Pro, the only thing plugged into the USB port on the keyboard. After a year of working normally, the trackball all of a sudden stopped scrolling down. It scrolls up just fine, but not down. Any thoughts?

I tried all of the suggestions, sort of. I did not have alcohol wipes, but I did take alcohol and pour some ona white paper towel and then rolled the mouse touch ball aroound and that finally cleared up the problem. Just inverting it on paper did not do the reick, it needed some help with the alcohol. Of course the probelm is the debris that gets inside and it really needs to come out.
This is a huge problem for RIM devices users too. -

I just got my AirPort Extreme Base, but I can't use my HP Deskjet F4580 wireless printer with it.
The printer is not connected to the AirPort Extreme's USB port. It is placed in another room, and I'd like to use it (the printer) wirelessly (not connected to the USB port os the AirPort Extreme), as I used to. There is no place for the printer close the AirPort Extreme. It worked just fine with my previous wireless router (Linksys WRT54G). I'm very disappointed with the AirPort Extreme Base Station because of that!...

Shut down the MacBook Pro.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.

Press the power button to turn on the computer.
PRAM:
Shut down the MacBook Pro.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.

I need assistance getting my windows computers to see my external harddrive attached to the airport extreme. It is a my passport. The disk shows on the airport utilitiy but neither of my pcs can see it. If i connect a simple thumb dirve they see it just fine.
What do i need to do to get this to work. There is no password on the external hard drive at the moment. I tried removing it to see if that would work.There are a number of posts related to access issues between Windows Vista / 7 and AirPort Disks. Two potential solutions being forwarded are: 1) Changing the LAN Manager authentication level, and/or 2) Disabling the Windows Search feature.
To change the LAN Manager authentication level:
From the Windows Vista / 7 desktop, click Start
Search for: security
Click 'Local Security Policy'
Goto Local Policies > Security Options
Under Policy, double-click 'Network security: LAN Manager authentication level'
Change level to: Send LM & NTLM responses
Under Policy, double-click 'Network security: Minimum session security for NTLM SSP based (including RPC) clients'
De-select 'Require 128-bit encryption'
Click OK
To disable Windows Search:
Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs & Features
On the right-hand side, click "Turn Windows features on/off"
Scroll down, and de-select "Windows Search".
Press OK, close all windows and restart.
A third "solution," that has worked for me, is verify that both the AirPort base station and the Win7 PC are using the exact same Workgroup Name. In my case, I use "WORKGROUP" (without the quote marks) for this name. From the AirPort Utility, you would enter this value on the Disks > File Sharing tab. Incompatibility Issues with connecting USB Hard Drive to Airport Extreme
Over the last few days i have been fiddling around with my new Airport Extreme Base Station N router. I can connect a printer and use the internet through it seamlessly. I can even share two of my hard drives through a USB hub, however, my Maxtor 500 gb One Touch 4 HDD will not connect with my macbook through AEBS. It is only this drive that is not working with AEBS and it is the one i need to be connected and sharing. If i plug my 500gb Maxtor directly into my macbook it works fine, i can read all the files. This drive is formated as Mac OS Extended (journaled).
I am about to give up on this because i have tried everything:
1. Reformatted HDD
2. Downgraded Firmware
3. Searched Forums for advice
4. Reconfigured AEBS in, i think, every way possible
So, these are most of the things ive tried and so far there is no solution in sight. I have one hypothesis: my particular HDD (Maxtor 500gb One Touch 4) is incompatible with AEBS at this time, but it is possible that a future firmware update could fix this.
Does anyone have any advice? I'm lost and disappointed. Please help, thanks.
Message was edited by: benjaminwoodaChances are pretty good that the power draw of your external drive is just at the "tipping point" for what the USB port on the Extreme can deliver. Powered USB hubs are inexpensive and should help in this situation.

Unfortunately no, because the USB port on the AirPort Express will only work with a printer and a Keyapan remote control. Hard drives are not supported.
You would need an AirPort Extreme for that type of functionality. -

Apple does not provide a compatibility list for USB connected devices, so no one can tell you whether things will work until you try it out yourself.
If both the Iomega drive and HP printer work when you connect them individually to the AirPort Extreme, then your chances using a powered hub are quite good....assuming that the USB hub is functioning correctly.
In other words, make sure that both devices are working when you try them individually connected to the USB port on the AirPort Extreme. If they don't work that way, they won't work with a powered hub either. -
Is it possible for an external device to burn out the USB port?
I think the available current of the USB port is 500 mA. If a USB device can work with a current of 500mA ~ 600mA, is it possible for it to burn out the USB port with 600mA current (larger than the safe 500mA) when connected? Or the port can never provide a current larger than 500mA?

P.S. The USB device I worry about is a pair of USB warm slipper (to be worn on feet in cold winter). Its label reads "5V / 2.5W", which should be safe. But I once connected it and a mouse to a USB hub, then to a single MBP USB port, and the mouse stopped working in a few seconds, and came back normal only after I switched it to another port. Now the slipper is connected to a port by itself, but I am just afraid that the USB slipper can go malfunctioning all of a sudden and drain a lot of current to burn the USB port....But I once connected it and a mouse to a USB hub, then to a single MBP USB port, and the mouse stopped working in a few seconds, and came back normal only after I switched it to another port....
Likely the hub is only barely able to handle the 500mA requirement. Many powered USB hubs have "cheap" power adapters and can't handle any high surge situations. Many devices like heating elements and motors have "surge currents" where the initial powering on of the device has a much larger current flow than during normal usage. Think of it like riding a bicycle. You have to push hard on the pedals to start off, but it's easier to pedal after the bike is moving.
...Now the slipper is connected to a port by itself...
If you mean the device is plugged into the Mac's USB port, then you should know that all Macs for the past few years provide more than the 500mA minimum for USB. Some other computers also provide higher power. But most USB hubs I've seen were limited to 500mA.
If you are plugged into the hub, not the Mac, then the power adapter for your hub may be barely adequate or possibly even defective.

IMHO, I would stop using the heater with any computer USB port. There is always the possibility that eventually something could short out in the heating element and cause a catestrophic surge through the USB port. The electronics in computers are quite delicate and I'd be paranoid about the device damaging my computer. (BTW, I have an electrical engineering background so I'm paranoid about power issues all the time anyway. ) Even if the heater is plugged into a hub, the surge current could damage the other devices plugged into the hub. While not as catastrophic as a dead computer, I'd still be irked to have to replace my mouse, digital camera, printer, webcam, etc.
Instead, I recommend plugging the heater into it's own "power adapter." One of those that give a USB port to charge a cellphone or whatever. Plug the power adapter into a power strip. Place the power strip in the floor next to the slippers. That way you can conviniently turn the strip on and off with your toes as you're putting on your slippers. -
Can't synchronize my IPod with the USB-Port of my 27 Inch Cinema Display
I use a 27" Cinema Display with my Windows PC.
It is connected via USB and Display Port.
Synchronizing my IPod at the USB Port of the PC works fine.
Synchronizing my IPod at each of the three USB Ports of the Cinema Display doesn't work.

I'm building a test Lync deployment on Azure; yes, I know this is not supported, hence "test".
Lync Front-End servers expose two set of web services, one for internal users and one for external ones; they listen on different ports (443 and 4443) on the same servers; when external services are published, you need a reverse proxy or a port forwarding
in order to map port 443 of a public IP address to port 4443 of the Front-End server(s). When you have multiple Front-End servers in a pool, you also need to load-balance them.
So, a typical Lync deployment looks like this:
