Is it possible to start an add-in from a macro?

I'm working with Visual Studio 2010 for a research purpose. I'm looking for the possibility where an add-in could be started by a macro.
A macro could be started by an add-in simply. But the problem is vice-versa. Please share your ideas, and especially sample codes.
I found that it is possible in Microsoft Excel. The VBA macro code 'Call
myAddinName could help on that. But the requirement is with Visual Studio IDE

Thank you. Firefox was not found on this redhat linux, I am guessing it was not installed. I did a find / -name firefox but not finding it. I don't think the SA installed GUI on this box. Is there a browser I can use even though GUI was not installed? That is why I am attempting to use xterm hoping to be able to access a brower in xterm. I am using Xming for xterm. Is there something in Xming I can use so I can access the Oracle Database Control Console? I can use firefox from my desktop but the port is block at the firewall and the SA would not open the port due to security reasons. Thank you.

I would want to know if it is possible to start a domain that makes reference to a remote server (from the IDE). On this way I could start and stop the server without loading so much the machine that I use to develop my portal applications. If it is possible how I can do it?

Yes and no. If your script is scheduled to run by some other process (which it should be, because it very likely has to be run as some account and not the web app account), you should set the script to look for a setting in a sharepoint list,
if that setting tells the script to run, then it does. This means that, yes, you can start a batch script from sharepoint.

Possible to start a rac database from another standard oracle kernel ?

With oracle RAC 10g R2 :
If all nodes of a ORACLE RAC platform go down, is it possible to restart the database (with existing datafiles) from another oracle standard kernel 10g R2 ?

That is an interesting question.. it should be possible.. you will definitely need a copy of your init.ora file. As long as the database files (control files, archive logs and redo logs) are on shared storage you should be able to start the database. Off course you will not have all the clustering features. I think it would be safe to disable the cluster database mode by setting the parameter CLUSTER_DATABASE = 'FALSE'.
hmmmm... what if you are using ASM? It could be bit more tricky in this case. Depending on the O/S and other ASM components for example ASMLib used. I think it should be possible.. never tried one though.
You may need to turn off the CLUSTER_DATABASE parameter on ASM as well.
You will need to create an ASM instance! and get the diskgroups mounted manually. if you plan to try.. do post your findings for the benefit of other readers..

Starting a service automatically from a validation script

Is it possible to start off a service from a javascript running on the page or as part of form validation ?
When the user is filling out a form, based on the form field validation script I want to be able to invoke a new service. The javascript could also be a page validation script, and so I could do the same validation based on DOM. Bottom line is that I am seeking a way to launch a service and have the service form presented to the browser where this javascript is running.

The approach might depend a bit on your use case but one way is to submit a request through the Requisition API (RAPI) through a JavaScript XHR HTTP POST, I believe a similar technique is used in some of the IAC portlets to submit services such as Power Up and Power Down without launching an order form.
The Requisition API is documented in the IntegrationGuide but you can access the WSDL under the following url: http://<ServerName>/RequestCenter/webservices/wsdl/RequisitionService.wsdl
Alternatively, if you just want to show a new order form in a popup, you can make use of the GreyBox library that is loaded using the GB_showFullScreen function to launch a service in a popup window, to achieve this though you would need to know the service ID to enter in the URL.

Hello all, I recently added presence to my environment, and we would like to abandon the soft phones in favor of CUPC because of the presence as well as video chat. My problem is that some of us need to be able to initiate a meetme conference (normally done with the softkeys on the hard phones and softphones).
Can any point me in the right direction? Is is possible to start a meetme conference from personal communicator?

As far as I'm aware it's not possible. CUPC doesn't have the 'softkey' to do this.
Now Jabber is out it seems less likely to appear in CUPC... and whether it will appear in Jabber?.. well... how would that sell Webex or MeetingPlace?

Yes, you can, but with some notes. Braby sent some data, I add some other.
Target Mode has two basic roles:
1. to turn a mac into an external drive and/or external optical drive (if it has one, until Air era, all had); you may use this way if your internal optical drive is damaged and you wish to use the optical unit of the other mac; or use it as a simple external disk for backup purposes or else.
2. to boot from a such-booted mac.
#1 is usable with any two macs disregarding whether they are both PPC, both intel, or combination PPC-intel, as the behavior is like any external disk drive or external optical drive.
#2 is impossible if you want to boot the other mac, they must be both intel or PPC, as you cannot use an intel-based mac as a boot mac for the other ppc-mac, and vice-versa.
So said and clarified, you may use, but not if you intend to boot the other one if you wish to use it for various purposes implying boot.

What I have attempted:
- Attempted to connect to Shared Services, Workspace url's - YES
- Checked openLDAP & my Database is running - YES
- Added following to Configuration File :

- Changed essbase.bak to essbase.sec YES but same error
- netstat -an to check for 1423. Port 1423 is not listening, although ALL TCP Ports have been enabled. So YES but same error.
- Read Knowledgebase article # 954322.1 - the suggested things in there don't seem to apply to my case, unless I am missing something.
At this point does anybody have any suggestions ?

An update: Just for kicks, I tried restarting Essbase using Start->Programs-EPMSystem->Essbase->EssbaseServer->Essbase.bat and apparently now Essbase is started.
EAS, Studio and Planning however are down.

DJ1970, Unfortunately no. iTunes does not have the key in the database.
People who want to know the key of a song can use (unless they already have perfect pitch!) key detection software such as Mixmeister.
Once you know the key, iTunes does not even have a field to store it, although you could stick it into Comments or some other unused text field such as Grouping. These fields are indeed viewable in iTunes.

You can put two 2gb RAM sticks in your model 2,1 but it can only use 3,3gb. This is a hardware limitation and cannot be changed.

Hi,
We have a client in SAP 2005 PL 44.
I built the add-on for them using simple installer wizard ( I tried advanced set-up also).
When starting the add-on, I get the message 'Connection Timed Out'.
Add-on status is failed.
But the add-on is actually connected. i.e, The functionality associated with the add-on is working fine.
I had SAP 2007 before and un/reinstalled SAP 2005 in order to connect with this client.
I had built the same add-on in a similar way for the same client for lot many times in the past, but I never got this issue.
I tried the following:
1) Delete SM_OBS_DLL and un/reinstall DI API
2) un/reinstall B1DE
Always I'm getting this error.
Please let me know your inputs.
