Is it possible to write to an open DOS windows - command line

HI,
I am able to open applications from LabVIEW, But except for the first command I am unable to write to the same application again and the LabVIEW will always open a new application. Is there a way to communicate with a DOS window application without re opening it each time? Is there a possibility to have a Dialogue with a DOS window?
Thanks

Hi,
The command "Tasklist" will return the applications running in the system (as viewed in the task manager).  Parse the list and if the application you are trying to launch is already running do not launch else launch the application following the same procedure.
With regards,

  • Is it possible to forward an already open X11 window?

    Hello all,
    I have a terminal open using my account on a Fedora 7 machine that is SSH'd into another Linux machine using another account. Is it possible to forward this already open X11 window to my Mac? (So that I can continue to work through this other account, but from my Mac. Much nicer working environment... )

    the question is more about the ability to forward an already open X11 window
    I guess this is not possible.
    The easiest solution is, of course, either ask the admin of linux2 to create your account, or ask user2 to share the password. If this is not possible, then you can try the "screen" command in the following way:
    On linux1:
    linux1$ screen
    linux1$ ssh user2@linux2
    (ask user2 to enter his password)
    linux2$ (type ctrl-a ctrl-d)
    linux1$
    (you can logout from linux1)
    On your Mac:
    mac$ ssh linux1
    linux1$ screen -r
    linux2$
    (now you can work on linux2 as user2)
    linux2$ (type ctrl-a ctrl-d)
    linux1$ exit
    mac$
    You may shutdown/sleep the Mac. screen daemon is still running on linux1 and keeps the connection to linux2. Later you can connect to linux2 from your Mac (through linux1) again by the same procedure as above.
    See "man screen" for more info. Ask again here if you need more help; I'm not a everyday user of "screen", but I hope someone more familiar with "screen" will help you.

  • Is it possible to check out whole repository from dtr command line tool?

    Hi
    I wonder is it possible to check out whole repository from dtr command line tool.
    Normally, in NWDS i have to log into SLD, select a component, then select components i want to check out into workspace.
    I would like to do some static analysis (PMD, etc) but checkiing out everything manually is really painfull.
    Are there any guides how to check out everyhing from the command line (so i would nothave to specify any paths except top level components)?

    Hi,
    I don't know of a feature which would allow to check out "everything" from the "root".
    checkout Checks the given resource out.
    Syntax checkout/co \[-exclusive| -x] resource \[activity]
    Options exclusive|x If specified the resource is exclusively checkout-out.
    Arguments resource The resource that should be checked out.
    activity The path or name of the open activity that should be used for the checkout, if no activity is specified one is implicitly created.
    Output Variables
    $wr[] Working resources
    $act[] Activities
    Description Checks a resource out.
    Examples
    Checkout a file within a given activity
    Checks out the file "/ws/wspdir/wsp/dir/a.txt" in the activity "/act/myActivity".
    checkout /ws/wspdir/wsp/dir/a.txt /act/myActivity
    Checkout a file
    Checks out the file "/ws/wspdir/wsp/dir/a.txt" in an activity that is implicitly created and returned in the output variable "$act".
    checkout /ws/wspdir/wsp/dir/a.txt
    Checkout a file exclusively
    Checks out the file "/ws/wspdir/wsp/dir/a.txt" exclusively in an activity that is implicitly created and returned in the output variable "$act".
    checkout -x /ws/wspdir/wsp/dir/a.txt
    Can you please also tell us what kind of statistics you intend to create? Sorry I don't know what PMD abbreviates.
    You can always generate yourself an up-to-date documentation of the DTR Console by exporting the help (for details type help help): help -x c:/DTRConsole.doc

  • Open application via. command line with parameters - Multiple times

    I'm using ANT to compile a program, then launch in FireFox ... I've looked all over for a solution to this, but have yet to find one.
    I need the command to open a specified URL in FireFox... easy enough, right?
    Solution #1 was to use the "open -a" command, with the URL- so "open -a FireFox.app/ http://someURL.com" ... the problem with this is that it opens a new window or tab every time- its a minor annoyance, but when you do 100 or more compiles during the day, its quite annoying.
    Solution #2 is to actually launch the program executable (FireFox.app/Content/MacOS/firefox) using the argument -url and that makes it so FireFox opens the URL in the current & front-most window. This worked great the first time, second time I get an error saying "A copy of Firefox is already open. Only one copy of Firefox can be open at a time."
    Anybody know how to make it so I don't have to close a window every time I compile? Your help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

  • Adobe Reader 11 (XI) won't open file via command line

    Hello,
    I have posted this question to probably inapropriate topic earlier today, so I am repeating it again.
    I installed newest Adobe Reader XI today and when I tried to open certain pdf file via command line, it reported a syntax error. Now, this syntax worked so far on versions 9 and 10  (I checked today with them and it is working), so my question is - where can I find new syntax, if there is any? Googling didn't help. Or what else could wrong?
    In previous versions I was able to open pdf file (on page 5) like this (all was taken from Help file "Open parameters")
    "CompletePathToAdobeReader"/A"page=5""CompletePathToPDF",
    ie
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe"/A"page=5""d:\V2\DataSheet.pdf"
    but now - not that it doesn't open specific page, but it doesn't want to open file at all.
    edit:
    Operating systems running: Windows 7, Windows XP
    Thank you.

    Yes, it reported correctly becuase there is a syntax error in your command. Try spaces between the /A switch and open parameter. Try this:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe" /A "page=5" "d:\V2\DataSheet.pdf"
    Hope this helps.

    If it's showing the 'open' button then it is already downloaded and is on one of your homescreens somewhere. You've checked all your homescreens and app folders for it, and can you find it via the spotlight search screen (swipe your first home screen to the right) ? There is a limit of 11 homescreens which you can access by swiping through them.
    If you can't find it then have you tried a reset to see if you can find it after the iPhone has restarted ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the equivalent of a reboot.

  • Is there any command line option, so that when I open firefox from command line it uses the already opened firefox, instead of creating a new firefox window.

    for example: this option is available with jedit editor.
    jedit
    above cmd always opens a new jedit instance.
    jedit -reuseview
    above cmd checks if there is a existing jedit instance if yes brings it to focus else opens up a new one.

    Start your '''Computer''' in safe mode with networking. Then start Firefox.
    After a bit, close it. Then open it a few minutes later.

    Me too. Same kind of problem with Dired also: the menus are empty. I've even gone so far as to reinstall a fresh Archlinux, although not just for this purpose (I just had to try the Beta Fedora 12, but it crashed all over the place. It lasted about an hour on my machine). I know that if I had any business using Emacs I should know how to fix this, but I don't have a clue. It's been happening for a couple weeks now. And just to reiterate, this is a clean install, I haven't messed with it at all, I don't even have a custom .emacs to show. I haven't looked to see if this empty menu thing happens anywhere else or not--these are just the two things I use emacs for.
    I don't see a bug report for this, but I don't feel I have the qualifications to submit a good bug report, so I'm hoping someone qualified will hear our crys for help. Forgive my ignorance, this is my first time posting on here.

  • 2.3.10 -- Problem openning environment from command-line

    I am just starting to learn DB XML. I have downloaded and apparently successfully installed DB XML 2.3.10 (on a Ubuntu 6.06 Linux system). I am reading Danny Brian's book "The Definitive Guide to Bekeley DB XML". In Chapter 5, a command is shown to open/create an environment:
    <pre>
    $ dbxml -c -h myenv/
    dbxml> quit
    </pre>
    According to the book, I should expect to see 2 files in myenv/ --> __db.001 & __db.002
    I have created the directory myenv/ and set my defaullt to its parent. When I try this command, I get the error messages shown below:
    <pre>
    dbxml -c -h myenv/unable to initialize mutex: Function not implemented
    PANIC: Function not implemented
    unable to join the environment
    dbxml: error at lowest level: DbEnv::open: DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database recovery
    </pre>
    Adding a couple -vv's to the commands produced no more output! Have I successfully installed 2.3.10? Is there anything I'm doing wrong??
    Thanks,
    Denny

    I downloaded the 2.3.10 kit from the Oracle DBXML website a weekago. I unpacked the kit into /usr/local then ran sh buildall.sh!! (2.2.13 is also installed/build in /usr/local)
    I just now started another rebuild with the following commands (all while logged on as root:
    1. cd /usr/local
    2. rm -r dbxml-2.3.10
    3. tar -xvf <kit location>
    4. chown -R root:root dbxml-2.3.10 (was owned by cupsys:users??!!)
    5. sh buildall.sh
    This time, as all the checking messages came by, I noticed that selected mutex = x86/gcc-assembly
    There is one big difference between what I had been doing and this latest attempt: Previously, I unpacked the kit inot my home directory, then did:
    sudo mv <home copy of dbxml> /usr/local
    sudo chown -R root:root ......
    sudo sh buildall.sh
    Could using sudo been the cause of my problem??!!
    I just checked the db-4.5.20 config.log and saw
    db_cv_mutex=x86/gcc-assembly
    Earlier this week (as reported in an earlier response to this post), db_cv_mutex was set to POSIX-something!!??!!
    I am hopeful!!

  • Runtime.exec() opening dos window.

    I heard that in newer version of java (>java 1.2 ) if Runtime.exec() is used to execute some native program, a black dos promt is popped up automatically and closed when the execution of the native program is completed.
    Will this happen every time I use Runtime.eceX()? is there a way to avoid this opening of dos prompt.

    It will vary by os version. Read up on the use of the command or cmd statements from the os help information, and on the os's start command (may not exist in all os's)
    Experiment fron the commandline to see what happens.

  • How to open an online pdf from command-line

    Hi,
    I'm trying to get my application to open a pdf file from an url like http://xxxx.dk/xxx.aspx?CID=xxx
    it work from inside adobe reader so the pdf file is a functionel file, but when i try to open it from command line like: AcroRd32.exe /n /A "pagemode=none" "http://xxxx.dk/xxx.aspx?CID=xxx" i keep getting an error telling me "There was an error opening this document. The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect"
    does anyone have an idea of what i need to do? i could also make a public test if someone needs to see the issue "live"

    it works with the browser, so no problems there.. i just wanted the pdf file to open in adobe reader instead of browser window, as it opens from a windows application.. but perhaps i need to look more into merging a embedded pdf viewer in the application instead..

  • Option to open new window or new tab via right click on taskbar icon in WinXP, Firefox 10 is not available

    When I right click on the Firefox tab/icon in the taskbar, there is no option for me to open a new window or new tab. I am only offered the ability to Move, Size, Minimize, Maximize or Close Firefox.

    That is the Windows System menu and is maintained by Windows XP.
    You need to open Firefox to open a new tab or create a shortcut with the -new-tab or -new-window command line switch if you want to do that via the desktop.
