Is it safe to truncate wb_rt_warehouse_objects?

Hi all,
We're experiencing some performance problems using OWB 10gR2 10.2.0.3
In particular, starting the control center takes a long time (typically around 5 minutes).
When we do this I see a particular query being executed which includes several full-table scans on wb_rt_warehouse_objects.
Searching for this object on Google and here seems to indicate that this is a temporary table storing scripts used to create objects.
So my question is if we'll be able to solve our problems by emptying this table?
Thanks for any tips.
Cheers,
Colin

You are right, there is no guarantee that a particular thread will be used by a particular ejb or servlet. So threadlocals should not be used. Even if container picks up the same thread to run the ejb, in a highly available/clustered environment, request may land up in different JVMs, so process wide synchronisation won't suffice.
Refer to section #25.1.2 of EJB 2.1 spec where some programming restrictions for EJB are mentioned. You may also refer to In J2EE platform spec where security permissions for different containers are mentioned.

  • DBMS scheduler 3

    Hi all,
    I create a sample dbms jobs and schedule using this tutorial > http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/obe/db/sqldev/r30/DBMSScheduler/DBMSScheduler.htm
    But my tables are not populated. Where can I find the logs in which to trace where did my process stuck?
    Or how do you trace the error why the scheduled job did not run?
    But if I run it manually it can populate the tables.
    Thanks a lot,

    Hi all,
    Its hard to monitor the dba logs tables as there are lots of rows and I dont know the jobs logging it :(
    How do I delete all the log tables? Are there other log tables like tha auditing tables that I need to periodically cleanup?
    It might cause space problem later.

  • VJO in not defined & image corrupt or truncated,only in FF & also safe mode but ok in private browsing

    VJO not defined & image corrupt or truncated
    I am getting this error when the computer renders some websites. It happens with ebay & on youtube. It shows the text but no pictures or background. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit and Firefox 4.0.1 it also happens in the newest version of FF & in safe mode , I have installed the latest Java runtime with no change ,but interstingly if I turn on "in private browsing" FF runs OK.
    I have run Firefox in safe mode, I have uninstalled completely using the APPS own uninstaller & then cleaned up all the files left behind with a 3rd party uninstaller I have updated Firefox to the newest release & rolled back to v4.0.1,I have disabled all addons & AV & malware apps (just for a minute)I have even tried a system restore. Also the "VJO not defined" only happens with FireFox & not with IE.interestingly FireFox runs fine if I enable "in private browsing"

  • I am unable to delete zombie bookmarks (no link) in Normal or Safe Mode Firefox 3.6.13 Mac 10.4.11, bookmarks disappear at random

    Firefox 3.6.13 (Mac Mini, OS 10.4.11) has repeatedly been losing my bookmarks in random fashion. For example, all bookmarks in a single folder have disappeared. Randomly, my bookmarks toolbar is truncated to just 6 items, although all toolbar bookmarks remain visible in the Library. The Library will randomly lose the http location for two to four bookmarks and then those "zombie" bookmarks cannot be accessed, deleted, moved, or edited. I've tried Safe Mode, same problem. I've disabled all add-ons in Normal Mode, same problem. I've reverted to bookmark backups and everything is okay for a short time (minutes sometimes, hours others), then the problems reappear on different bookmarks. Totally frustrating and maddening.

    This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

  • Rather than go to the home page I have specified in the General tab of Options in the Tools menu, Firefox keeps going to a truncated version of this url.

    I have used the following URL as my firefox home page for quite some time:
    https://www.google.com/search?num=100&safe=off&hl=en&complete=0&q=Rochester-NY+CDC.gov+|+NIH.gov&btnG=Search
    Several months ago, malware of some sort replaced this url with one of their own. I got rid of the malware and put back my original home page, but I'm continuing have a problem: Every time firefox goes to my home page, rather than using the whole url that I've specified, firefox truncates this url to just the first 87 characters, and goes to this truncated url instead:
    https://www.google.com/search?num=100&safe=off&hl=en&complete=0&q=Rochester-NY+CDC.gov+
    Not only is this not the url that I have specified in the General tab under Options in the Tools menu, I always get an error message in an additional tab whenever Firefox goes to this truncated version of my home page. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to get firefox to use the entire url I have specified as my home page in the General Tab under Options?
    I do not know if this is relevant or not, but I noticed that prefs.js includes two other user prefs related to the home page in addition to the one that identifies the url I chose:
    user_pref("browser.startup.homepage", "https://www.google.com/search?num=100&safe=off&hl=en&complete=0&q=Rochester-NY+CDC.gov+|+NIH.gov&btnG=Search");
    user_pref("browser.startup.homepage_override.buildID", "20130617145905");
    user_pref("browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone", "22.0");

    You need to escape the pipe character as %7c if you want to include it in the URL

  • Can't boot into safe mode or prompt login window, need help.

    Hello all,
    This is cross-posted from the installations and set-up list.
    Can anyone suggest a remedy for what's ailing this powerbook. its a g4 powerbook, i don't have much more info other than that. all indications are that it is running 10.2.6, although i was told that it had been updated to 10.2.8, its possible that it was updated only to 10.2.6. following the update, you get to the apple and spinning pinwheel screen and it will not proceed. literally, the pinwheel will spin for 24 hours+.
    it looks like it gets to the point of the startup(login) items and hangs indefinitely. ie it will
    if i start in verbose mode it will, give some clues:
    truncated or malformed library: /System/Libray/Frameworks/Security.frameworks/Versions/A/Security
    Some starup items failed to launch due to conflicts
    /usr/libexec/crashreporterd: crashdump terminated by signal 5
    init: getty repeating too quickly on port /dev/console, sleeping
    /usr/libexec/crashreporterd: crashdump terminated by signal 5
    last message repeated 10 times
    /usr/libexec/crashreporterd: crashdump terminated by signal 5
    init: getty repeating too quickly on port /dev/console, sleeping
    /usr/libexec/crashreporterd: crashdump terminated by signal 5
    last message repeated 5 times
    this will continue to be repeated and i assume a new core.## file is sent to the /cores folder, until the hard drive is maxed out.
    I can boot in single user mode and everything is fine but i cannot boot into safe mode.
    fsck says the disk is fine, as does disk first aid, i have also corrected permissions, and followed many of the things that have been previously posted.
    It looks like ther are conflicts with some startup items, what can i move from the starup folder and is best not to be touched?
    what about the truncated library message?
    also can i update to 10.2.8 from the single user mode, if i cannot get into safe mode?
    any suggestions?
    thanks in advance-
    todd

    I have solved this problem. I mounted the laptop in target mode and replaced this file:
    /System/Library/Frameworks/Security.framework/Versions/A/Security
    with the equivalent file from a machine running 10.2.8.
    It booted all the way through then i upgraded to 10.2.8.

  • Truncating last character in a string

    I am making a dialpad. It is just for display so I am using a
    string for the numbers selected. I am trying to make a back button
    that would clear the last number added. I tried mystring.length-1
    but that doesn't seem to be doing the trick. Is there a simple way
    to truncate the last character in a string, of variable
    length??

    Here's an example
    var someStr="asdfasdf saf asdf sadfas dfs fsa asf";
    while (someStr.length) {
    someStr = someStr.substring(0,someStr.length-1)
    trace(someStr);
    }

  • Itunes truncates my wma songs

    I imported some songs in wma format to iTunes and iTunes truncated them.
    For example for one songs Musicmatch plays (and shows) the full 3:32 wheras iTunes only plays (and shows) 3:17.
    When the song is played on my iPod or burned to a CD it remains truncated.
    Is this a bug in iTunes' wma conversion or do you know another reason for this strange behaviour?
    Windows XP Pro Itunes 6.0.4.2

    It's 'cause .wma ***** =p
    I recommend using Blaze Media Pro (www.blazemp.com) to convert the files to mp3, see if that works.
    Everything can be on default settings, but I'd recommend using 192 bitrate. 128 to 192 is safe but if it's music where it gets loud or you'll be playing it on a high quality stereo you'll notice the difference between 128 and 192.
    Post back with your results =)

  • Truncate or Shrink the SBO-COMMON Database in B1.

    Hello everybody!!
    I need to know if it's safe to either truncate or shrink the SBO-COMMON database.  I kow all recovery trail will be lost, but that doesn't matter much, since I'm planning to switch from "full recovery" to "simple" recovery model.  The database is backed up on a daily basis, so only the last back up of the databse is relevant.
    In notes 625546, 783183 and 548772 SAP clearly states that truncating or shrinking a production database is a safe procedure, but what about the SBO-COMMON?  I guess one can follow the same rationale as in the production databases, but I'm not sure.
    Thanks for any valuable help.
    Emilio Méndez.

    Ross:
    Thanks a lot for the advice.  I'm still triyng to get official word from SAP through a message in the Market Place.  Anyhow, I'm going to take your adivce as a "best practice" for a reasonable maintenace plan to the databases used by B1.
    I'm only waiting for some other comments before I mark the thread as "answered".
    Thanks a lot for the help,
    Emilio Mendez.

  • Can grant truncate table permission to a user?

    Whether can grant  truncate table permission to a user separately.
    I know that the role db_ddladmin can do,but the create,alter and drop permissions will be granted the same time(These permissions are not what we want to
    grant to user).
    Is there any solution?
    Best regards!!
    If you haven't all the things you want,be grateful for the things you don't have that you didn't want.

    You can't grant truncate because for whatever reason, that permission doesn't exist.  What you can do is use a stored procedure and use EXECUTE AS OWNER to get around it.
    create database foo
    go
    create login foobar with password = 'alkdsfji9eorngv';
    go
    use foo
    go
    create user foobar from login foobar;
    go
    create table test(rowid int identity)
    go
    insert into test default values;
    go
    select * from test
    go
    create procedure dbo.truncate_test
    with execute as owner
    as
    truncate table test
    go
    grant execute on dbo.truncate_test to foobar
    go
    execute as login='foobar'
    execute dbo.truncate_test
    revert
    go
    select * from test
    go
    use master
    go
    drop database foo
    drop login foobar
    This keeps your database safe and allows you to grant execute on the truncate procedure to allow them to truncate the table.Jonathan Kehayias

  • Headings and labels in iTunes screens truncate...

    Hopefully these screen shots show the problem...headings and on-screen descriptions of features are truncated, with sentences or keywords being cut off followed by "..."
    In the above example, observe the itune DJ screen, and the words "Always in con..." next to one icon, then "Make a requ..." in the other.
    Below when my iPad is attached, in this instance the Music Tab screen shows truncated labels again, "Sync Mu..." and "Include music vi..."
    I'd love to know what they want to include...but I can't read it!
    Changing screen resolution doesn't help either.
    Using iTunes 10.5.3.3 on Windows 7 SP1, Dell XPS with 20" Dell ST2420L analog monitor, NVidia GeForce GT530 graphics card.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If it is set to anything larger, iTunes 10 handles this in a clumsy manner of just truncating the text labels and other application GUI anomalies.
    If not, try starting iTunes in Safe mode (Hold Shift and Control when launching iTunes) and testing in a new user account.

  • Movie truncated

    I created a dvd full of images and movie on iDVD. When i play my DVD on my dvd player (Bose Lifestyle 38) to my Sony Widescreen LCD TV, 2 fat vertical black bands on either sides of the screen truncating the menu and the movie. However, images seem to show up properly (within the bands).
    I tried creating the movie on both 4:3 and 16:9 format but still have the same problem. Any takers?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. If you added the movie directly to the menu screen then it will be affected by TV overscan which is most prominent on CRT TV sets. It's the nature of the beast. However, you can add the movie to an iDVD slideshow as seen below, and setiDVD's slideshow preferences to Scale to TV Safe area like SDIllini suggested and the movie will be scaled to the TV Safe Area.

  • Is it safe to compress Listener logs while system is running ???

    Hi there,
    I am new to RAC and am working on 24*7 databases in a RAC CLuster.
    There is a very large listener_scan2.log in the /u01/11.2.0/grid/log/diag/tnslsnr/<server name>/listener_scan2/trace folder, the file is about 2.8 G.
    I have done some research and have seen that compress -f has been recommended via crontab, this has the advantage of being something that can be automated and run monthly
    e.g.
    ## listener log aging
    17 0 * * 0 /usr/bin/compress -f /u01/app/grid/diag/tnslsnr/node1/listener/trace/listener.log
    17 0 * * 0 /usr/bin/compress -f /u01/app/11.2.0/grid/log/diag/tnslsnr/node1/listener_scan1/trace/*log
    17 0 * * 0 /usr/bin/compress -f /u01/app/11.2.0/grid/log/diag/tnslsnr/node1/listener_scan2/trace/*log
    17 0 * * 0 /usr/bin/compress -f /u01/app/11.2.0/grid/log/diag/tnslsnr/node1/listener_scan3/trace/*log
    Is this safe to run these while the system and listener are up and running, will the listener create a new listener.log file if the old one is compressed even if listener is not restarted.
    Other blogs suggest using lsnrctl and changing the listener log location and then renaming/compress/delete the old log file and then set the listener log location back again ...
    Has anyone used this in a Production system ?
    I welcome your feedback.
    many thanks,
    Rob

    Unfortunately, we can't tell much from that pstack output because it doesn't include symbols:pstack: warning: librtld_db failed to initialize; symbols from shared libraries will not be availableI don't know pstack couldn't initialize librtld_db. How big is the core file? Is it possible that it was truncated due to a lack of disk space or ulimit? Did you run pstack on the same system that generated the core file?
    While I don't remember seeing a bug like this before, have you tried applying the latest service pack? For Web Server 6.1, that's 6.1SP7. Service packs contain important bug fixes.

  • Truncate all tables in schema

    Hi,
    I want to truncate all tables (300 tables) in a schema. There are some enabled constraints in this schema. I want to keep all tables attached objects (like indexes, constraints, etc). I’d like to create a procedure to do this job. What's the safe and right way for this?
    I am thinking as follows:
    1- Retrieve all user constraints name using user_constrants view and then disable them.
    2- Retrieve all user tables name using user_tables view and then Truncate them.
    3- Enable all constraints that were disabled in step 1.
    Is this a safe and right way?
    Let me know your thought please. Thanks.

    The table was probably created using double qoutes.
    declare
    v_new_tab_name varchar2(35);
    for c1 in (select table_name from user_tables) loop
       begin
           execute immediate ( 'truncate table '||C1.Table_Name );
       exception
          when others then
              v_new_tab_name := '"' || C1.Table_Name|| '"' ;
              execute immediate (' truncate table '||v_new_tab_name) ;
       end ;
    end loop;
    end;
