Is it secure to use NSData or NSString for storing confidential information?

Hi,
I am developing an iPhone App where i need to store confidential information such as "Certificate", "User name and Password", "Secret key", etc.
Can i use NSData or NSString to store these data in order to use them in some exexpression in my code ?
Thanks,

Hi,
Thanks for your reply,
Actually i learnt from Java that 'String' type data doesn't get cleared/erased when it is released. So in Java 'byte array' is more secure way to save confidential information.
I thought similar problem might have with NSString as well?
please comment!
Thanks,

  • Using edit text control for storing and displaying text of 1000 characters

    Hi all,
    I have a requirement to provide a field for remark in one of dialog screens, for saving remarks of up to 1000 characters. I made container and edit control and add a field LCHR in database table with preceding INT4 field. Then I use this code to save/read data in/from database table:
    CALL METHOD editor->get_textstream
         EXPORTING
           only_when_modified = 0
         IMPORTING
           text               = mytext
         EXCEPTIONS
           OTHERS             = 1.
    in user command and:
    CALL METHOD editor->set_textstream
         EXPORTING
           text = mytext.
    in status.
    Then in read I tried to select single LCHR field from that row and put it in mytext TYPE string. In save I save mytext as LCHR field in database table. There is no error anywhere but it doesn't work. Is it even possible to save STRING text in LCHR field of database table?
    What is alternative? Text objects from SE75?

    Having a string in a database table is absolutely independent on having some trouble in the program. If you got an error saying you need only flat structure, that means you can't use a deep structure in the context.
    I suppose you are using the structure on the screen or ALV. You can only use a flat structure there (no strings, no sub-tables...) as you would not be able to render a deep-structured data on the screen. Of course, ABAP could handle that e.g. by ignoring those deep fields, but we would want too much.

  • How to use NI CAN feature for extracting DBC information without a CAN Interface?

    Hi,
    I'm looking for some tricks in order to extract DBC Information using the NI CAN without a CAN interface...
    Basically I have some DBC files and I would to analyze them to get hierarchy Messages and Channels (and their related information, offset, scale, etc.).
    http://www.ni.com/white-paper/4294/en/
    The function CAN Get Names is usefull and allow me depending on the mode to get a list of the Channels and Messages described in the DBC file. However, I'm encountering one major issue and none of the least, I cannot use the function the CAN Get Property... As it required a connector based on Task that I cannot provide since I dont have any real and physical CAN interface, for now. Therefore I cannot have any information about the channels neither about the messages...
    Does anybody can give me a hand to fix that matter?

    And by the way is there any way then to get the Byte Array / Bit Array corresponding to a certain message (and how to set the signal values required to get the message)?
    Your code isn't that bad, relativly easy to follow.  In any case the problem had nothing to do with the CAN port being used.  If you would probe the error wires around you would see that coming out of the CAN Init Start stated that the channel name didn't exist.  Looking at how you had it wired you took the messages (or frames) and put them into the channels terminal, when I assume you wanted the channels.  Then looking at your tree you were again trying to get the ID of a channel, but giving it the message name.  I also added reading the Start Bit, Number of Bits, and Byte Order for all the channels read.
    If you were to do this with XNET there would be completelly different functions, but the same operations can be done.

  • How can i use adobe drive/cs4 for storing images and interact this with adobe cq5.4 DAM...

    Hi,
    Can anybody suggest me i want use adobe drive to store images and i want to access the images for my cq5.4 instance..
    I want to integrate drive to the cq5.4 dam for ignoring the dam burden on cq5 instane repository..
    Is it possible to use this drive? or is there any other way i can achieve my task?
    Thanks,
    Sony C.

    Adobe Drive software doesn't store images; it enables integration of a DAM system with Creative Suite and now Creative Cloud desktop apps.
    Adobe Drive 3 is the first version of the software to support integration with Adobe's DAM. This version was designed to work with CS5 and CS5.5 apps.
    We do not have a version of Drive that supports integration with CQ 5.4 DAM and CS4 apps.

  • I have changed cache location but FF4 continues to use appdata/local/temp for storing actual files

    I use FF 4.0.1
    I changed the location of the disk cache by going to
    about:cache
    and changing browser.disk.cache.parent_directory
    to a new location
    yet FF4 still stores files at the old location

    Thanks! Actually firefox DOES create a folder called Cache and fill it with lots of other folders. The problem is that when it comes to actual files, they land at the original appdata/local folder :(

  • Security of storing sensitive information in an encrypted sparse image.

    Is it a good idea to put sensitive information, passwords and bank account details etc, in a sparse image?
    I know there will always be a risk with keeping information in a digital form, but I'm beginning to wonder if I'm being more careless than I first thought.
    My password is pretty good, using 256 AES encryption.
    Inside the sparse image I have several text documents (*.rtf), in which my information is stored. Maybe information in these files is somehow cached to a non-encrypted part of the hard drive. Maybe sparse-images and the implementation of AES encryption that Apple use is not suitable for such sensitive information...
    I would appreciate your thoughts on the matter, and of course any advice as to how better to store passwords digitally
    Phil.

    Hi Phil;
    I suggest you get 1Password. It will allow you to keep all of your sensitive data in an encrypted database. If also has some very nice features to sync which other devices.

    How to configure Oracle 10g Advanced Security to use SSL concurrently with database User names and passwords
    In Oracle Advanced Security Documentation it is mentioned that i can use SSL concurrently with DB user names and passwords. But when i configure the client certificate on the client my DB connection is getting authenticated using the certificate, which out passing user id or password.

    That's the code that you need to execute but you should
    probably encapsulate that code in Custom Action.

    If you've been unsuccessful resetting your security questions by signing into your account at appleid.apple.com (manage my apple I'd) and the going to password and security, and have also tried contacting iTunes support and have not heard back then:
    Call 1-800-APL-CARE and have the following info ready:
