Is LabView able to read digital inputs from maxon motors controller, EPOS2?

Hello,
I would like to ask that if LabView is able to read any digital inputs directly from a maxon motor controller, EPOS2. As i have tried making a new VI from the maxon example VI, but the difference is that i've added a input control. But the program doesn't seems to work.
That's why i would like to ask if LabView can read a direct digital input from the maxon motor controller.
Thank You & Regards,
ParkyPak

Hello Parky,
I understand now. I check on the motion controller and it is connected through USB to your computer. In term of controlling the motion controller, you are using some LabVIEW library from maxon. The photosensor is connected to the motion controller may be as a switch or as a limit switch.
In order to read the value of the Digital input port, you may need to take a look of the libraries to check on what function call and the supported command to check the digital input port. If this is not successful, then question or referring to examples from Maxon motors would be the best.
I hope that this helps.

  • Reading variables/parameters from stpper motor controller

I have three Pacific Scientific stepper motors and controllers. The controllers are programmable via a proprietary version of the basic programming language, called stepperbasic. I can control the motors using labview by performing a serial write function, and outputting an ASCII string to the controllers, for example 'GO.VEL', starts the motor moving. However i am unsure how i can read parameters from the controllers. For example there is a variable 'MOVING', this is logic 0 if the motor is not moving and 1 if the motor is moving. How can i get labview to read this variable and others like it?

Thank for contacting National Instruments. From the sounds of your system, this post may be better aimed at our GPIB/Serial group rather than the Motion team. If the only communication you have with these controllers is through serial communication, then most likely you will need to use a serial read (or possibly the I/O Assistant if you are using LabVIEW 7.x) in order to pull in that information. I am not the expert here on serial, but for this you will need to know what commands to send to get this information out and then what type of data you are expecting.
Another option that you can look into is if Pacific Scientific included a C/C++ library, then you may be able to call that dll or code from within LabVIEW to control the controllers/motors also. If you hav
e not done so already, I would take a look at the documentation for your hardware and see what software came with it. If they provided anything that could be used to write a basic C/C++ program to control the motor, then you should be able to do the same from within LabVIEW.
I hope this helps out some and let us know if you have any more specific questions.

A couple of things not necessarily addressing your problem, but still..
Avoid too much Java code in the JSP. Use existing tags or write new custom tags to do the task.
Avoid database access form the JSP itself, if possible.
    <% rs = stmt.executeQuery("select
    PRIORITYNAME,PRIORITYDESC from TBL_PRIORITY ");
    <td>Priority</td>
    <% while(rs.next())
    %>
    <input name="priority" type="radio"><%
    out.println(rs.getString(1)); %><%
    out.println(rs.getString(2)); %><br>
    <%
    %>
I'm not quite sure what are you trying to do with the above. You want the labels of the radio buttons to be obtained from the database as well as their values, is it?
Does PRIORITYNAME correspond to the value of the radio button and PRIORITYDESC correspond to the label of the radio button?
If that's the case, I think you need to do it as follows:
Radio button is declared as follows in HTML
    <input name="priority" type="radio" value="<%rs.getString(1)"%>><%rs.getString(2)%></input>

Hi there, I need to be able to read raw files from an Olympus Stylus 1 via CS5 and Lightroom 4.  I have downloaded Raw file plug-in v 6.7.1 but still can't read the files?

    Read this table http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
The Olympus Stylus 1 was first supported in Camera Raw 8.3 which is only compatible with CS6 and CC.
It is not compatible with CS5 or older and never will be.
If you do not want to upgrade to CS6 or CC then you can dwonload the free Adobe DNG converter, convert all Stylus 1 Raw files to DNGs then edit the DNGs in CS5.

Ok. That explains 8.3. I know some want to stay with 10.6 because they have software or hardware that won't work on anything later.

  • When will we be able to read NEF files from a NIKON 5200?

Just got a Nikon D5200. Photoshop and Bridge cannot read NEF files from this camera. It worked fine with my D3100 camera. When will we be able to read NEF files from a NIKON 5200?

    Welcome to the forum!
As often, we cannot give a simple answer without more informations: what version of Photoshop and Bridge are you talking about?
The rule of thumb is to update Camera Raw to the latests version compatible with Photoshop, and if it does not work, to download the last version of the DNG converter and use it on the files to convert them to DNG that can be opened in the older versions of Camera Raw and other raw converters.
Normally, to update go to Help>Updates...
According to http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.htmlhe first version of Camera Raw that can open the NEF from the 5200 is Camera Raw 7.3, that works with Photoshop CS6. If you version of Photoshop is older, you'll need to use the DNG converter 7.4:
(but, since you don't state what operating system you are using, here are the links for both versions:

  • Problem using Interpolated Position Mode on EPOS2 from maxon motor

    Dear Mr../ Mrs..
I have DC-motor with Encoder (4000 inc. pr. turn) and EPOS2 motor controller from Maxon Motor. I want to use the EPOS2 Interpolated Position Mode (IPT Mode), but can't find any examples anywhere. I have read read much of the documentation for the EPOS2 and also browsed the examples (there isn't any specific for the IPT mode). Furthermore I can get the Position Profile and Velocity Profile modes works - so there is hope ;-) The labview program is executed on my PC, communicates with the EPOS2 on a CANopen network, through a USB-CAN converter from IXXAT.
I have attached my program - this is only a test program where I buffer 2-4 values manually written values and starts the trajectory. I can initialise and send values to the buffer, but when I start the IPT trajectory the axis turns into Fault state and the motor does not move. If I clear Fault state afterwards it turns over to disabled state. I gues I have to specify some more parameters? But I don't know which ones. Furthermore I might think, that I should place the functions in the move case structure in a while loop or change the mechanical action in order to execute the whole trajectory?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
Have you found any examples yet?
I think your errors are a result of your target position being initially too far away from your starting-actual position.  If there is too much of a discrepancy, then you'll get an error (common with other operating modes also).
I'm currently working on the same problem, maybe we can help each other out.

  • Ni 6008 acquiring digital inputs from an absolute encoder.

Hi, i'm a student working on my master thesis.
I'm trying to acquire 9 digital channels from a 9bit absolute encoder on the NI-USB 6008 but i'm encountering the following problem.
I'm powering the encoder trough the 0V (GND) and +5V ports on the NI-USB 6008, and if i read the digital outputs directly from the pins
of the encoder with a tester, without connecting them to the NI-USB 6008, i see +5V or 0V with respect to GND.
If then i wire the outputs of the encoder to the NI-USB 6008 digital ports, the readings of the tester,  are 5V or 3.6V with respect to GND, so basically
when i try to acquire the signals with Labview, they never switch to logic low.
I'm a doing something wrong or is it a problem with the NI-USB 6008?
    Thank you for the help.

    Hi,
It seems that NI-USB 6008 works well and that the encoder is not able to force low the digital output signal.
I think that this problem could have different explanations:
    - the encoder needs a pull down resistor in order to work properly
    - the encoder try to force low the digital port while the 6008 is forcing high the same port
    - the encoder is damaged
Try to take a look at the encoder manual in order to see if the encoder needs some additional circuitry to work properly.

  • Read digital input

To read the data sent via a 'printf' use VISA Read, Did I want to know that I could use in LabView function to see if a digital input is active on a microcontroller?
            Thank you

Hello, since this question is LabVIEW-related it should better be posted in the appropriate board.
In any case, LabVIEW has a complete set of functions to operate on the RS232 channel and is equippend with all fucntions that are normally used to decode messages coming from external device. Nevertheless, keep in mind that when speaking about two independent device, the interaction between them depends on how both behave. That is, if the microcontrolles sends informations about its I/O then yes, LabVIEW is capable of reading these informations. In order to have some more concrete help you will need to supply some more informations about the messages your device sends on the serial cable.
Proud to use LW/CVI from 3.1 on.

    Hello,
The best to way drive digital outputs while acquiring analog inputs is to create two steps in Signal Express. Each step will execute relatively at the same time but there is no way to correlate or synchronize DIO with AI on a 6008 because DIO on that device is software timed while AI is hardware timed. Below is the 'Getting Started with Signal Express' manual which can aid in creating an AI and DIO step. Also, if you need additional examples later, they are located in the Help->Open Examples.

  • Reading Digital Pulses from a Flowmeter

I have a flowmeter that puts out 0 to 5 VDC pulses and has a calibration factor of 50.99 pulses per CC. I do not have a counter card, but have a digital input card and an Analog Input card.
What will be accurate method to read these pulses from the flowmeter?

The Detect All Triggers.vi is not included, so I cannot tell what it is doing.
Several things may affect your results.
    1. It appears that you have the DAQ assistant set to sample at 250,000 samples per second and to acquire 100,000 samples. It creates the task, configures the timing, acquires data, stops and clears the task on every iteration of the loop. The only part which needs to be inside the loop is the acquire data part. All the rest should be outside the loop. You can open up the DAQ Assistant and pull the parts out to do this.
    2. The samples you acquire take about 0.4 seconds but you have a 1 second elapsed time test in the loop. It appears that you are only looking at about 40% of the data available because you do not accumulate the data while waiting for the elapsed time.
    3. The Detect All Triggers boolean output which connects to the case structure where Counter is updated only allows Counter to increment once pper iteration of the while loop, maximum, regardless of the number of pulses detected in the dataset. Unless you never get more than one pulse in 400 ms Counter cannot accurately represent the number of pulses produced by the flowmeter.
    4. Get rid of the local variables. The are not needed and often contribute to race conditions.
    5. Learn about dataflow. The "initialization" of the chart history and local variables at the left of the diagram could occur after the while loop has started or even completed. The sequence structure in the True case is probably not needed either. Shift registers are your friend

  • Reading user input from a form within a workflow and perform actions in workflow based on the input

    Sharepoint 2013
Need to get input from a user based on some condition within a workflow and based on the input received continue with the workflow. It can be a form with a text box and button to which i can redirect and when user enters a value and clicks on the button
,I should come back to the workflow and perform other processing. I should also be able to manually start this workflow from VS.
Tried different approaches like initiation forms ,user input action of SP2010 etc all of these approaches either add some tasks to task list or force me to click on the workflow link to get input from a user.
    Any suggestions on this?

Thanks for the code, but I don't need an array of beans. By the way this code make a bean and an arraylist everytime it's called?
I was looking for something like this:
    <form action="myjsp.jsp" method="post">
...so after submitting the result will go to the myjsp.jsp file and in the myjsp.jsp file
    <jsp:useBean id="value" class"myBean">
<jsp:setpropertiy name"value" ....>so everytime I click the add button the values will go the mysjp.jsp file and that will set them in the javabean file. this method uses two files but I was looking for doing this in the same jsp file and not sending it to another file.

  • Reading in input from a user

I am waiting to read in few different user actions. One of them is if they hit the "enter key" and nothing else. How can you check if the enter key has been pressed?
In java and I am reading the input in through a BufferedReader

Will it? Maybe you are right. I was justguessing.
It does when I read an empty line from a text file...
so why not from System.in? :)I was thinking it would buffer the input. It would return until it hit whatever triggers it to return. So it would return an empty line but perhaps not right away. I guess I could just try it, huh?
