Accessing digital inputs from signal express (TEK MSO2024)

Hi,
i'm trying to access the digital inputs of an TEK MSO2024 from signal express, but no luck.
I'm using SignalExpress2011, tkpdo2 ivi driver.
Seems like this driver doesn't support digital input, anyone got a solution or another driver?

Hello,
The best to way drive digital outputs while acquiring analog inputs is to create two steps in Signal Express. Each step will execute relatively at the same time but there is no way to correlate or synchronize DIO with AI on a 6008 because DIO on that device is software timed while AI is hardware timed. Below is the 'Getting Started with Signal Express' manual which can aid in creating an AI and DIO step. Also, if you need additional examples later, they are located in the Help->Open Examples.

  • Can I save data in a snapshot from signal express 2013 LE?

    Can I save data (in txt or excel format) from a snapshot from signal express 2013 LE?  My data buffer is too larege to export to excel.  When I try to take a snapshot, I do not see any data.  Are snapshots supported in the LE mode?  This is the free version that comes with the USB 6009 ADC.

    Yes, the snapshot function is available for SignalExpress 2013 LE. Does the snapshot function as intended when you try other projects?

  • Is LabView able to read digital inputs from maxon motors controller, EPOS2?

    Hello,
    I would like to ask that if LabView is able to read any digital inputs directly from a maxon motor controller, EPOS2. As i have tried making a new VI from the maxon example VI, but the difference is that i've added a input control. But the program doesn't seems to work.
    That's why i would like to ask if LabView can read a direct digital input from the maxon motor controller.
    Thank You & Regards,

    Hello Parky,
    I understand now. I check on the motion controller and it is connected through USB to your computer. In term of controlling the motion controller, you are using some LabVIEW library from maxon. The photosensor is connected to the motion controller may be as a switch or as a limit switch.
    In order to read the value of the Digital input port, you may need to take a look of the libraries to check on what function call and the supported command to check the digital input port. If this is not successful, then question or referring to examples from Maxon motors would be the best.
    I hope that this helps.

  • Ni 6008 acquiring digital inputs from an absolute encoder.

    Hi, i'm a student working on my master thesis.
    I'm trying to acquire 9 digital channels from a 9bit absolute encoder on the NI-USB 6008 but i'm encountering the following problem.
    I'm powering the encoder trough the 0V (GND) and +5V ports on the NI-USB 6008, and if i read the digital outputs directly from the pins
    of the encoder with a tester, without connecting them to the NI-USB 6008, i see +5V or 0V with respect to GND.
    If then i wire the outputs of the encoder to the NI-USB 6008 digital ports, the readings of the tester,  are 5V or 3.6V with respect to GND, so basically
    when i try to acquire the signals with Labview, they never switch to logic low.
    I'm a doing something wrong or is it a problem with the NI-USB 6008?
    Thank you for the help.

    Hi,
    It seems that NI-USB 6008 works well and that the encoder is not able to force low the digital output signal.
    I think that this problem could have different explanations:
    - the encoder needs a pull down resistor in order to work properly
    - the encoder try to force low the digital port while the 6008 is forcing high the same port
    - the encoder is damaged
    Try to take a look at the encoder manual in order to see if the encoder needs some additional circuitry to work properly.

  • Multiple channels from Signal Express

    I have 3 channels from a NI9219 from which I read a Voltage, Thermocouple and RTD at 1000 samples/s for 1000 samples then calculate the DC level for them, display and log.
    Unfortunately when I export to Excel, each channel appears in a separate worksheet, even if they were on one dataview during playback. How do I set the recording so that each channel appears in a separate column in one worksheet ?

    Hi JPP,
    What you should do is to log the data to
    an ASCII file as you currently are, then open the file in Excel. It will open
    as one worksheet.
    It is expected behavior for channel data
    to appear in a separate worksheet when exporting data directly from
    SignalExpress to Excel. It can be seen that the “Export to Microsoft Excel” option
    appears the same whether done from the DAQmx Acquire step or the Save to
    ASCII/LVM step, and is independent of the file options in the Save to ASCII/LVM
    step (such as one X column for time, or one for each data channel).
    If you would like to see different
    behavior, I would encourage you to visit ni.com/contact and submit a product
    suggestion in the lower left. Thank you.

  • Accessing AppModuleImpl methods from Groovy expressions?

    From a VO View Criteria bind variable I'm attempting to call an accessor (aka. getValue) in it's parent AppModuleImpl, via a Groovy expression. I thought I could do something like:
    ((model.AppModuleImpl)object.getApplicationModule()).getValue()
    ...but at runtime I'm getting an error that Groovy doesn't know model.AppModuleImpl.
    I must be missing something here. Does anybody have the Groovy syntax for calling methods in the parent AppModuleImpl please? I've searched Grant Ronald's ADF Groovy whitepaper with no success, and I haven't found an example on these forums either.
    With thanks,
    CM.

    one more thing i did lately you can try if it works
    I created Method in AppModuleImpl class and called it in VOImpl class with AM object and then assigned it as expression to the attribute value in VO it should work for Bind variable value as well
    //Method in AM
      public String sayHello(){
        return "Hello World";
    //Method in VOImpl
      public String getHelloFromAM(){
        AppModuleImpl am = new AppModuleImpl();
        return am.sayHello();

    チャンネル間の時間軸のずれに関する原因知るために下記の項目を確認していただければと思います。
    ・同一信号源と同じ長さのケーブルが使用されているか
    ・SIGNAL EXPRESSのData ViewとDPO4000の画面上両方でずれがあるか
    ・信号周波数に対する具体的なずれの時間
    また、トリガの”タイプ”と”ソース”の設定を変更すると、時間ずれに変化が生じるかも確認していただければと思います。

  • Urgent-how to access custom tag from jsp tag

    I have a problem accessing a custom tag from a jsp expression.
    Details: I have a custom tag that returns a string variable. I need to access that variable from jsp expression <%%>.
    Can any body help me?

    Tags don't "return" values as in the normal sense.
    They can only support TEI (Tag Extra Information) that just stuffs a declared variable into the page's state.
    For example, if the tag class had a public method called getValue(), you could do the following:
    <xmp:mytag id="foo"/>
    <%
    out.println("value is " + foo.getValue());
    %>

  • SCXI 1600 and digital inputs

    Does anyone know whether the SCXI 1600 card can sample digital inputs from say an SCXI digital input card like the SCXI-1162? The manual and specs say so but I can't see how it is done. The user manual is clear on analog inputs - up to 352 for the 200kS/s max rate but it doesn't say anything specific about digital inputs. An article on DEVZone has a brief response to a similar question to mine that says the specified max channel count does not include digital inputs. I can't work out from the specs at what sample rate one could sample digital inputs with the SCXI-1600 card.

    Hello Andrew,
    As it says in the user manual, the SCXI-1600 is built similar to E Series DAQ devices and can control digital I/O SCXI modules. You are probably looking for dynamic characteristics on the digital side of things kind of like sampling rate. The reason it is not specified is that it is static digital I/O meaning that it is software controlled.
    So a reading is taken when called by software. But rest assured that the SCXI-1600 can support your digital module.

  • Anlysing saved data in labview signal express

    I need to collect data and later analysed them in labview signal express. I could do as i get thee data but saving the project and doing the analysis later is not working using the add step function.
    What should I do ?
    Secondly how do you convert to ascii and export to excel or word when using signal express ?
    Regards
    Matthew

    Hi mathade,
    I am not sure what exactly are you trying to do. Are you taking some signals from signal express and then saving them and later reading the saved values for analysis? If this is what you want to do, you can simple write your values into a spreadsheet and later on read it from there using the File I/O functions for doing the further analysis. If you want to do it in the same execution run, you can also hold the values in some shift registers and get the analysis done after the acquisition.
    I can give you more information if you can post your vi so that I can take a look at your progress so far.

  • Change digital input to frequency

    Has anyone figured out an easy/slick way to convert a digital input into a frequency/Rate?
    I've got this prox switch out on the plant floor that monitors whenever a part goes by. A part goes by at regular intervals, except that once in a while a part may not be there (removed from product stream for QA reasons). Ok, so I want to know (on average, say in the last 2 minutes) what is the rate in parts per hour.
    I guess I kind of want an Derivative Object that will accept a digital input (logical) instead of numeric.
    I am currently using a POT as the input to a Derivative Object (updating in 2 minutes, and a time unit of 1 hour), and Incrementing the Pot with the Digital Input from the PLC. However this only works until the POT max's out, then I automaticly reset the pot to zero, and start incrementing again.
    I just figure it should be "cleaner" than this solution. Any ideas?

    Hi,
    Instead of using a Pot that is updated by the Digital input, you could use a counter. On that one you don't need to specify a max and you can make it have a reset programmatically.
    That should be easier and better to use.

  • Can I use Signal Express for multiple customers for only the one time $699?

    How do I go about distributing Signal Expresss applications to multiple customers?

    Hi Nutter,
    Unlike LabVIEW, Signal Express doesn’t have any file distribution capabilities.  If your application uses only basic features, you could install the free LE version of Signal Express on as many computers as necessary.  If you need the full capabilities of Signal Express, however, you would need to purchase a license for each customer.
    An alternative to paying for Signal Express for each customer deployment would be to generate LabVIEW code from the Signal Express project and create an executable.  This process is described in the Knowledge Base articles Generate LabVIEW VIs from Signal Express and Deploying VIs generated in Signal Express.  Note that this method requires that you have LabVIEW installed on your development computer with Application Builder capabilities.

  • HT4682 Does anybody know if Final Cut Pro X is compatible with, or equipped to receive input from MovieBox DV?

    I borrowed a MovieBox DV (by Pinnacle Systems) to try to digitize analog video from my Super 8 video camera cassettes onto my new iMac. I followed the MovieBox instructions to connect the analog video camera to the MovieBox DV and then onto my iMac. I opened first Final Cut Pro X and tried to import the digitized video, but my iMac does not seem to be recognizing or receiving the digitized input from the MovieBox DV.
    Does anybody have any suggestion on how to make this digitization work?
    Thanks,
    Novice1965

    FCP X needs a source with timecode, which means that you probably need some other tool to ingest your footage.
    Quicktime Player can probably do it (File->New Movie Recording).

  • 1820M digital inputs don't work with cable box, receiver digital outputs?

    I just installed an 1820M on an XP-Pro machine (AMD 3800+ X2). Downloaded the optical and coax loopback tests and they work fine. But I can't get it to take digital input from either my Comcast HD-DVR or my Denon AVR-1907 receiver. I know the Comcast DVR digital outputs work - they worked with my receiver and with my old Logitech 5300s.
    I've tried everything I can think of:
    - take external sync from S/PDIF
    - set the optical to ADAT so it doesn't mess up the coax s/pdif input
    This seems like such an obvious application. Has anyone gotten it to work?
    Thanks

    This is my point - the currently active channel does not produce sound through its multiple outputs unless Logic is playing.
    So, for example, if I am auditioning different drum grooves from RMX through the multiple outputs (for the purpose of putting effects/processors on the outputs in Logic) this only works when Logic is playing.
    Or if, in BFD, I have the direct Snare coming out of one output into an aux, and then a direct Kick coming out and output into another aux, I cannot hear them unless Logic is playing - I can only hear the ambient mic's as these are mapped to Outputs 1-2 which are the initial track you set the multiple output AU up on.
    If none of this is something you tend to do, I guess it's hard to understand!
    Thanks,
    Alex.

  • Dolby Digital input on the Audigy 2 Platinum P

    I'm purchasing a component VGA converter so that I can play my video games on my monitor's screen, but I was wondering, does the sound blaster audigy 2 platinum pro support Dolby Digital input from these types of devices? And in order to do so, what devices, cables, and such would I have to purchase?

    If it is a ps2 I think they have a opiocal out which you could plug into your optical in.
