Is $ notation of a variable supported in BPEL 10.1.3.3?

Hi All,
What version of BPEL (1.1, 2.0) is supported in Oracle SOA version 10.1.3.3 and JDev version 10.1.3.3.0? Specifically, can I use the $ notation of a variable to get its value ($var_name) instead of using the xpath function - bpws:getVariableData('var_name'). I was wondering if it is officially supported or not.
Thanks,
A.T

You have to use the full xpath expression. BPEL 2.0 is going to be introduced in 11g.
cheers

  • Soft for a device mass configuration with variables support

    Hello everyone.
    Does anyone know a soft for mass configuration of Cisco network devices with variables support? I have a lot of network devices with the typical configuration. But some of parametres at this devises can be different (IP octets, IPs at ACLs, names with numbers, etc). So is there some soft where I can give it some script with variables for all devices and it puts values for each device from some DB or file? Right now I have found only one soft with name "DeviceExpert" but is there more?

  • Accessing Simple Type Variable Defined in BPEL Flow, in Transformation

    Hi,
    I am using Transform Process Activity. In transform mapping, i would like to map one target element with a value defined in a 'simple type variable' which is defined in calling BPEL Flow, however I am not able to do it.
    for example:
    I have a BPEL process A where there is a variable NOTIFICATION_EVENT_ID of simple type integer. when I am trying to access it through the function bpws.getVaraibleData(NOTIFICATION_EVENT_ID, "") then it is failing, while giving a hard-coded value makes it run

    Hey Eric,
    Thanks for the reply and indeed that was a direct pointer for the problem I was facing.
    HOWEVER :) it dint work on the version of BPEL PM or BPEL Engine I am working on. it seems that either I have configured wrongly or version on which I am working doesn't support this.
    Version I am working on: 10.1.3.2.0
    I am not getting any compile time error however on runtime it is failing saying:
    ORABPEL-09503 Invalid xpath expression. Error while parsing xpath expression "ora:processXSLT('Map_Notification.xsl', bpws:getVariableData('Invoke_CreateMarketAndRelatedEntities_process_OutputVariable','payload'), bpws:getVariableData('Properties'))", the reason is Error in expression: 'ora:processXSLT('Map_Notification.xsl', bpws:getVariableData('Invoke_CreateMarketAndRelatedEntities_process_OutputVariable','payload'), bpws:getVariableData('Properties'))'.. Please verify the xpath query "ora:processXSLT('Map_Notification.xsl', bpws:getVariableData('Invoke_CreateMarketAndRelatedEntities_process_OutputVariable','payload'), bpws:getVariableData('Properties'))" which is defined in BPEL process.
    I will upload BPEL process created snip of my complex Bigger BPEL process but till the time suggest me if this hints you anything.
    Is I am missing something?
    Thanks.

  • Error in Passing BPEL variable Contents to BPEL Transform (XSLT)

    Hi,
    Problem Statement:
    ·     I want to Transform data, from schema1 to schema2.
    ·     Schema1 is basically a collection lets say collection of A. in XML terms, it has multiple same type of child elements under the root element.
    ·     Schema2 associated with each child element of Schema1.
    ·     In the Loop, I want to iterate through the schema1 data and iteration count would be as much as number of child elements in it.
    ·     Pick one child element (using index in XPATH) and use it to associate with Schema2 elements.
    ·     In this process I wanted to pass 2 parameters to BPEL Transform activity using properties datatype. (ref: http://blogs.oracle.com/rammenon/2007/05/07)
    ·     However it is not realizing the parameters passed to it.
    Please also suggest me a location to upload the related code for any verification.
    Please suggest the flaw in this and suggestions to rectify.
    Thanks
    Regards
    Joy

    Example counting nodes.
    ora:countNodes('Invoke_FileSyncRead_SynchronousRead_OutputVariable','Root-Element','/ns1:Root-Element/ns1:SiteInfo')
    Set that to Integer variable $count.
    Then set new variable type integer $interator = 1.
    That will give you a proper loop counter for your payload.
    AS far as mapping only certain elements, I would just transform 1st, then pick out what you need with an explicit assign activity to whatever you want to pass that to.
    Hope that helps.

  • How to set List of String as variable value in BPEL

    I am using java embedding to invoke a method which returns a list of strings. I need to set these values in a variable in BPEL to be used later. I am getting following error while setting the value.

    Following is the java code

    I have defined a xml element in the wsdl defintion:

    </xsd:element>
    </xsd:schema>
    providerList variable is of type "providerList".
    What else do I need to do to convert the List to the xml elements ?

    Well I believe this is not officially mentioned anywhere, but this is the limitations for the java embedding activity. You can assign value to a single variable or to the single part element of variable only. I suggest you go with a java web service. you can check more details on java embedding activity @ http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/integration.1111/e10224/bp_java.htm

  • Local transaction support when BPEL invokes JCA adapter

    Hi all,
    I've implemented a BPEL process consisting of multiple invoke activities to my (custom) JCA Resource Adapter which connects to an EIS.

    Declare the transaction support at deployment time (ra.xml)

    2. WebLogic Server 10.3.4
    Thank you for your time,

    Hi Vlad, thank you again for your immediate response.
    With regards to your first comment. I already have been using logs, so I confirm that neither javax.resource.spi.LocalTransaction#begin() nor javax.resource.spi.LocalTransaction#commit()
    is called in the 2nd run.
    I think it might be helpful for our discussion if I give you the call trace for a successful (the first one) run.
    After I deploy my custom JCA Resource Adapter, I create a javax.resource.cci.ConnectionFactory through Oracle EM web application and the following methods are called:
    -- MyManagedConnectionFactory()
    (Constructor of the implementer class of the javax.resource.spi.ManagedConnectionFactory interface)
    -- javax.resource.spi.ManagedConnectionFactory#createManagedConnection(javax.security.auth.Subject, javax.resource.spi.ConnectionRequestInfo)
    -- MyManagedConnection()
    (Constructor of the implementer class of the javax.resource.spi.ManagedConnection interface)
    -- javax.resource.spi.ManagedConnection#addConnectionEventListener(javax.resource.spi.ConnectionEventListener)
    -- javax.resource.spi.ManagedConnection#getLocalTransaction()
    -- MySpiLocalTransaction(MyManagedConnection)
    (Constructor of the implementer class of the javax.resource.spi.LocalTransaction interface)
    -- javax.resource.spi.ManagedConnectionFactory#createConnectionFactory(javax.resource.spi.ConnectionManager)
    -- MyConnectionFactory(javax.resource.spi.ManagedConnectionFactory, javax.resource.spi.ConnectionManager)
    (Constructor of the implementer class of the javax.resource.cci.ConnectionFactory interface)BPEL process consists of multiple invoke activities to my (custom) JCA Resource Adapter which connects to an EIS. Client tester invokes BPEL process, and execution starts.
    Here is the method call trace for the last invoke (after which, commit is executed). The logs for all the rest invocations are identical:
    -- javax.resource.cci.ConnectionFactory#getConnection()
    -- javax.resource.spi.ManagedConnection#getConnection(javax.security.auth.Subject, javax.resource.spi.ConnectionRequestInfo)
    -- MyConnection(MyManagedConnection)
    (Constructor of the implementer class of the javax.resource.cci.Connection interface)
    -- javax.resource.cci.Connection#close()
    (I don't understand why close() is called here, any idea ?)
    -- javax.resource.cci.ConnectionFactory#getConnection()
    -- javax.resource.spi.ManagedConnection#getConnection(javax.security.auth.Subject, javax.resource.spi.ConnectionRequestInfo)
    -- MyConnection(MyManagedConnection)
    (Constructor of the implementer class of the javax.resource.cci.Connection interface)
    -- javax.resource.cci.Connection#createInteraction()
    -- MyInteraction(javax.resource.cci.Connection)
    (Constructor of the implementer class of the javax.resource.cci.Interaction interface)
    -- javax.resource.cci.Interaction#execute(javax.resource.cci.InteractionSpec, javax.resource.cci.Record, javax.resource.cci.Record)
    -- javax.resource.spi.LocalTransaction#commit()I would expect that after the last commit() - meaning that BPEL process is done, and its state is "Completed" - Weblogic server would call the following:
    javax.resource.cci.Connection#close()However it doesn't. Do I miss something ?

  • How to define new variable types in BPEL?

    Is there a way to define a new variable type directly in BPEL, without modifying any of the WSDL files used by Partnerlinks?
    Or to import an XSD with variable definitions?

    It depends on what you want to use the variable for. You may not need to do it yourself. Let's assume you have a main wsdl for your service that you can't change but it has the inputs and outputs already defined.
    In the middle you want to grab the input and shove it into a database table. You can create a new partner link. Rright click in the swim lanes on the BPEL page and pick the little database icon. Go through the steps to link to the db via an insert or package. You will need a db connection to do this.
    jdeveloper will create the partner link wsdl and schema for you to match the table or the ins/outs of the package/procedure automatically.
    Then drag an invoke onto the page and pull the arrow to your new partner link. Use the magic wand on the invoke screen to create the input/output variables.
    Then you can use a transformation or assign/copy to pull the data from the input message variable of the main wsdl into the input variable of your database wsdl.
    Or your situation may not be that complicated...if you click the little (X) on the edge of the box on the BPEL screen you can go through a picking process.

  • Transactionality support in BPEL

    Hi Team,
    Wanted to know if BPEL supports transactional behaviour across web service invocations.
    ex:
    if a process invokes webservices 1, 2 and 3 all of which are operations (like invoking a PL/SQL procedure or a table insert operation etc.) on to Oracle Apps using Oracle Apps adapter.
    Now does BPEL provide a way to create transaction before invoking the first webservice such that trasaction id would be returned and consequently used in the invocations of webservice 1 , 2 and 3 .
    In this scenario transaction would be cmmitted after operation 3 or if any error occurs in 1/2/3 transaction would be rolled back.
    Would love to hear back on this.I was just curious to know how BPEL would handle transactional situations
    Thanks
    Sandeep

    Clemens,
    Yes, I have known about the compensation feature.... but for my requirement ...where I would end up doing a combination of PL/SQL invocations and table operations...this would mean that the compensation activity would be highly complex ....as much as the actual process itself.
    It may not be feasible also since I would have to find an anit-dote kind of API within Oracle Apps or would end up writing large custom code.
    Muruga,
    Thanks for educating me on JTA support.
    Could you please tell us more about how to perform/achieve ws-transaction implementation.
    Thanks Clemens and Muruga. That was indeed helpful, your replies have put me in good stead on this important issue.
    One point that I would want to make here is that some of the existing middlewares like TIBCO (and probably WebMethods too) already provide transactionality across DB operations in the same way as I put it in my first message.

    Sandeep

  • MTOM support in BPEL is a problem

    I have created a simple BPEL process which accepts a string and base64string. I enable oracle/wsmtom_policy in the composite xml and enabled MTOM encoding to true.
    This enables MTOM for the BPEL process. I upload the composite into WebLogic. Now I create a web client proxy and it generates perfect.
    I open a JPEG file and convert it into a Base64 byte steam in the client and send across the wire however I get an error from the BPEL process
    javax.xml.ws.soap.SOAPFaultException: Non-MTOM message has been received when MTOM message was expected.
    which is kind of weird as I made all the settings correctly. Any inputs would be appreciated.

    I think its bit old post, but I got the same error message. Any clue for this issue?

  • Store/cache variable values in BPEL

    Hi All,
    I have a scenario where I need to get the password by calling a web service A (Which dynamically generates passwords) from a BPEL process and and pass it to other web service B. This password is valid for a few hours and it is not predicted how long it would be valid.
    But till it is valid, I need to use it to call web service B. Web service B is called from some other BPEL processes also so I want to store the password somewhere so that it can be used by other BPEL processes.
    I can invoke the Web service A to get password from other BPEL processes also but don't want to do that because of performance issues.
    One place I can think of storing the password is to populate XREF table on the invocation of web service A and then retrieve from it wherever needed in other BPEL processes.
    If it is expired then again invoke web service A, update the XREF table and use it.
    Please give your inputs if there is any other way of doing this.

  • Adobe Illustrator CS5 HTML5 SVG variable support in Edge

    Hello,
    I have probably a feature request. I've been playing with Edge Preview 4 and HTML5 pack for Illustrator CS5. I have no trouble opening the auto generated object code in Edge. I would love to take my SVG button with variables set for stroke and fill, and be able to animate these properties in Edge from code or UI. Have I missed something possibly?

    Hi,
    Try the following:
    1) Create a new  admin user and try to launch in it.
    If that doesn't help than try  this:
    1) Uninstall with the option to remove preferences
    2)  Delete Adobe Illustrator CS5 folder under /Applications if left behind.
    3)  Install AI again.

  • Can we define 'Static Variables' in BPEL process ?

    Is the idea of 'STATIC VARIABLES' supported in Oracle BPEL?
    What I mean by that is, I need all my in-flight BPEL process INSTANCES to read a common variable and then decide the next course of action.
    Is this possible?
    Thanks in advance,
    Mahendra

    Hi Hans,
    In Cocoa and Objective-C a static variable needs to be declared in the implementation file and not the header as you would normally do. Standard C variables can be set at the same time as the declaration but Cocoa objects need an extra step.
    For example:
    #import "TestObject.h"
    // declare your static variable here
    static NSArray *count;
    @implementation TestObject
    - (id) init {
    self = [super init];
    if (self != nil) {
    // set the variable here
    // the 'if' statement ensures it is only set once
    if (!count) {
    count = [[NSArray arrayWithObjects:@"One",@"Two",@"Three",Nil] retain];
    return self;
    @end
    Hope this helps,
    Martin.

    Hello to All WebI Gurus,
    We are on BO 4.0
    We are building WebI report on top of Bex query using the BICS connection from IDT.
    Our BW query is having some Text Variable with processing type "Replacement Path".
    Also its having fiscal year period in filter with user input variable.
    the text variables references Fiscal year period and are used in Key figure description,
    hence whatever value the input variable will capture the description of Key figure changes accordingly/dynamically.
    But when I try to use it in BO it throws me an error msg saying :
    Unknown error occured in SL Services
    I am Aware that text variable in this fashion were not supported in BO XI3.1
    Used of Sap text variable with replacement path in Bo designer
    So are Text variable Supported in BO 4.0 in this fashion.
    Any response will be highly appreciable.

    Hi,
    Here's a great SDN article, which includes several slides covering u201CWhich BEx features are supported using BICS connectivityu201D : http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/d056e1bc-2794-2e10-959e-8779c5623cc5
    Pages 8 -> 12 cover these topics.
    If your design choices are compliant (supported) then i'd avise opening a support case if this issue persist after checking again on Patch2.11 (release recently)
