Is quicktime 7.5 messing up logic studio??
After upgrading to Quicktime 7.5 logic studio(logic 8) has redefined all rewire setup from aux tracks til midi tracks and my rewire component (reason) won´t play together with logic. Also I can´t make new rewire tracks
anyone?
soebx
If it were me I'd close out every program running on the computer, firewall etc.
Then see if you have any luck running QT. If not. What was the last change to the computer before this problem surfaced?
All problems I've expierenced in the past four and a half years, that I have been using a windows computer have been hardware related. Either not installed correctly or a failure of slots or video cards.
You might want to take a look in Device Manager or go to Start>Run>type in>dxdiag and click OK, to get some info, and also check out the video card driver! That's about all I can offer you.

Logic Studio comes with quicktime 7 Pro. where is it?
as the box indicates in the "contents" section beside the requirements section in the top side of the box, it gives the list of all the softwares that come with logic studio (e.i. logic pro, soundtrack pro2, waveburner, compressor... blah blah blah all that... but it says close to the end: quicktime PRO 2, which i guess is a "better" version, or it has more features... i dont know. the thing is i dont quite see that i actually have it installed on my mac. when i open quicktime and check on the "about quicktime.." it says its only quicktime.. but doesnt say anything about being PRO 2. its also the 7.5.5 version...
Since i installed everything from logic studio.. and still cant seem to find a way to see that QT pro 2 has been installed on my mac, can anyone explain to me what could be happening?
thanks. This has had a lot of people confused. Logic doesn't actually come with any software for Quicktime Pro, because you already have it imbedded into the regular version of Quicktime. When you buy QTP, or buy something like Logic that includes it, it simply 'unlocks' your regular version of Quicktime, which allows you access to a bunch of features that regular Quicktime didn't have.
Open System Preferences->Quicktime, and it should say: 'Registered To: Apple Pro Apps User' and 'Registration Code: Automatic.' You'll also notice that the 'Q' graphic on that window has a little 'PRO' tag on it too.
If you were still running the regular Quicktime, when you went to the QT Player, and dropped down any of the menus from the menubar, most of the options would be grayed out and say 'Pro Only,' or something like that. Now all of the options in those menus will be available.
And yes, it should be version 7.5.5. -
How to install quicktime 7 pro from logic studio
hello people.
I have installed Logic express 9 and then upgraded it to Logic Studio. Logic site do state that quicktime 7 pro is included in the Logic studio package. I have installed everything from the dvds, but i don't see quicktime 7 pro appearing anywhere. Anyone know about this?I have installed Logic express 9 and then upgraded it to Logic Studio. Logic Studio may only "key" the QT 7 player for "Pro" use. I.e., Apple is very touchy about others distributing their software. In any case, I suspect Logic Studio may expect QT 7 v7.6.6 to already be installed on you your system in its default "Applications > Utilities" folder location. If it is not there, then you will have to download it manually at http://support.apple.com/kb/DL923 and run the installer since QT X v10.2 (included with Mountain Lion) cannot be upgraded for "Pro" use. -
I am buying a new macbookpro which comes with Lion. Lion has Quicktime X. Logic Studio comes with Quicktime Pro 7. Do I have to download Quicktime 7, or will Logic Studio work fine with the Quicktime X player? Will there be a Quicktime Pro X soon?
your new lion-machine should have quicktime 7, too. if it doesn't, and if it doesn't show up after you migrated your stuff from you old machine you can always reinstall it from the logic dvd's, it's part of logic. my recommendation is to always use quicktime 7, since it's got many features that are absent in quicktime x. quicktime x is nothing but a polished video player. in quicktime 7 (pro, comes with logic) you can even do edits and paste your music onto video files. i use it all the time, especially since logic 64bit doesn't export to video anymore.

Need to make space in my Hard drive to install Logic Studio Upgrade
ok. Here's my problem:
I have a 1st generation Mac Book Pro. That means 100Gb of storage.
I've been using it for professional audio recording since then with Logic Pro (6 or 7 I think) and I made necessary upgrades when they were available in both Mac book and Logic. So, now my Mac has 2.16 GHz processor, 2GB memory RAM and is running Mac OS X 10.6.3
When it comes to Logic, I am in Logic 8, trying to make the last upgrade of Logic Studio but looks like there's no more space available on my laptop. At this point, I moved any other data that I don't need. My Hard drive is almost full of a data that most of it supposedly needs to be replaced or skipped. I'm talking about additional content of audio coming on Jam Pack, etc... The installation program allow me to put some of the data in other hard drives (about 22.68 GB) but still is not enough.
Is there any way to solve this? May be uninstalling programs and data that later will be installed again with my upgrade? I don't want to make a mess before asking.
Probably is time to get a new computer. If this is the only option please somebody tell me! but if is not, I refuse to spend the money. My laptop is working fine...
Thank you
FranWell, first i would decide what you need the computer for. If you use iPhoto and iTunes, maybe moving the libraries to external HD may free up a significant amount of HD space.
Also, look for apps you don't need anymore, look for ancient data that can be zipped&archived away. That's a lot of work, but is worth the time, because you get to know what really is on your HD. I have so many small apps&tools lying around on my HD clogging space, but in fact i only used them once or twice in a lifetime, so better delete them.
BTW: Make sure you have enough space on your HD not only to install Logic studio but have some extra GB's for the OS to shuffle data around. No OS likes a full HD.
My strong suggestion would to give your Macbook to a trustworthy Mac store where they install a bigger HD and copy everything over to the new one.

Doing clean install but logic studio does not work. Getting Error message
I have my box Logic Studio 9 upgrade but it will not install on my SSD. Final cut and all other reinstalls worked. Cannot install LP 7 because it is a PPC
written program. Im trying to do a clean install of the lion OS but cannot get my most inportant program to install. I dont want to buy the program again at the app store. What do think my options are? I've had Logic since 6.0Hi
First, get rid of your designer, the page design/code is a mess.
There are a number of problems with the page, not least being the disabling of the back button in all browsers I tested it in, (visitors may visit once with this, but are unlikely to do so a 2nd time).
The menu system is a fixed size so that when the browser is resized it overflows the browser window.
The use of tables for layout is not recommended as it is inaccessible to users using assistive devices.
To put this more politely, if you paid for this, ask for your money back. If you did not pay, then start again and use one of the dreamweaver layouts for your page, for more info, see - http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/introducing_new_css_layouts.html.

Major Logic Studio 9 Upgrade install issues
I tried to install Logic Studio 9 upgrade today and there are a lot of problems. For one, Compressor 3.5 did not install, leaving me with 3.0.5. Quartermaster also did not update, leaving me with 3.0.5 of that as well. Soundtrack is at version 3.0.1.
The Logic Studio 9 Installer just keeps Soundtrack and Compressor grayed out, so I can't do anything about that. I followed the instructions on the Knowledge Base article about the iLife 11 conflict, but that didn't make any difference.
I also cannot log into the updates page on Apple's web site here (http://www.apple.com/logicstudio/download/). I have tried my Logic Studio 8 serial number and the serial number from my Logic Studio 9 Upgrade, and it just keeps telling me that they are invalid numbers. I have tried them with and without the dashes. The LS9 Upgrade installer accepted my serial numbers no problem, and I sent the registration to Apple. I'm totally baffled as to why the web page is denying me access.
I have spent HOURS on just trying to get this software installed properly, and I have never seen such a mess. I wish I could just uninstall everything and start over but they don't even include an uninstaller. So at this point I have no clue how to get access to the support page since it's denying my serial numbers and it's not letting me update Compressor or Quartermaster (but everything else seems to have updated). It also keeps EX24 synth grayed out.
I know this is a mess of a post but I've been trying to get this going for hours and hours and am exhausted and frustrated. Thanks for any advice.Ok, for some reason the Apple Support site is accepting my serial number okay, but it seems what's available as far as downloads is out of date compared to the software update tab.
It seems my biggest problem remaining is just that I have Qmaster 3.0.5 and Compressor 3.0.5 which did not get updated to 3.5 (and then upped to 3.5.3 each with the ProApp Update 2010-02).
I have never had Final Cut, any version, installed so it can't be that, and the iLife 11 "forget pkg" solution from the Knowledge Base didn't work. So what gives? How can I get Compressor and Quartermaster installed? -
Logic studio 9 crashes at start
Hi,
I've recently run into the issue, that my Logic Studio 9 crashes immediatly after startup -
It scans the AUs, open the project window, sometimes a white kind of flash lightens the screen (?) and than it's gone.
I've already reinstalled, tried to run with no external audio HW (NI Audio Kontrol 1) - no improvment.
BTW - Garageband & Ableton Live just run fine...
I'm on Logic 9.1.7, OSC 10.7.3
any ideas?

I had the same problem and I notice it happened after I changed the way files inside Finder folders are ordered (changed from order by Name to order by Kind). I did this while Logic was opening.
After going back to the original ordering system (by Name) Logic started working again.
I know it may sound odd but.....it worked. -
hellow...
I have installed the logic studio install disk 1 and disided i dont need it.
I erazed the apps but stuck with 7 gb contant of this disk and i have no idea how to get rid of it whitout erazing an importent system files...
I sarched the net and found a very complicated ways of deleting and whitout geranty it w'ont ****** up my other apps.
Does anyone have an idea what to do???
And how it can be, that a super company like apple didnt thougt to put an uninstaller in her on software?!?!
This is one of the things that puts her os behind (i still love it).
I'm an engeniring software student and one of the most importent things we learned is to clean our on garbge.
thanks...
**Sorry for my bad english i'm from Israel (and apple d'ont realy care of a little contry like mine to open a sopport in hebrew). You need to delete the application, delete the Application Support/Logic folder, delete the installed jam pack loops and instrument content (which get installed to your GB libary AppSupport/Garageband), then you also need to check the AppSupport/Audio folders for things like impulses and preset settings.
Check both system and user app support trees - by default, Logic will install preset content into the system areas.
This will get rid of the core stuff - if you really want a full list, you need to go into your package receipts, as there are a lot of other support frameworks and packages that also get installed by default (Applications like Soundtrack Pro, Mainstage, support apps like the loop utility, Compressor, and all kinds of video frameworks, Quicktime and other stuff).
There isn't a quick "uninstall" option.
So I really don't recommend a "clean" uninstall at all, just remove the content.
What version of Windows do you recommend, if you want to use Windows
apps on your mac ? (XP ? Vista ?)
Why are you asking me? I can't stand Windows, and have no idea of what windows applications you want to run. -
Yamaha Clavinova to Logic Studio... can it be pure n simple?
I play a Yamaha Clavinova CV409 - which is great for spontaneously writing tunes.
I am running a MBP with Logic Studio (pre-latest), but I am not so familiar with this app yet.
Yes, I can hook them up via USB and get them crudely talking to each other. So what's my beef?
Well.... after writing a tune on the Clav, it would be nice to be able to import this with full integrity into Logic Studio, edit in the same channel format etc. and play it back seamlessly on the Clav, with no messing around.
The important bit is to change something on Logic and then export it back to the Clav and get it to play faithfully as though it had never left the Clav....
Has anyone out there had a similar challenge trying to keep life simple? Can't be too hard I presume...
As always, a few tips can save hours of time and frustration. So thanks in advance!Hey Pete - Have you made any progress yet?
I've done some more experimenting.. And it's getting better..
I can now record Tyros performance into Logic - and then play the song from Logic back to Tyros, with out using Tyros sequencer. I recorded Tyros song (created there first) into synced Logic. Make sure the instrument track you are recording into does not echo back to your Yamaha. I just recorded it into a muted EVP electric piano.
Next create your 16 external midi instruments. Then use Spit/de-mix command by channel (under region). This will give you 16 midi tracks. Some may not have any information in them other than an 'initiate' command consisting of setting release and sustain time.
You may end up with MIDI channel one containing note data and sys-ex commands. The sys-ex commands in my event list are notated as going to channel 67. I believe sys-ex is meant to go to the device so the channel it is on, is not really relevent. I seperated this from midi channel 1 (which had part of my right hand playing). And I put it on a Tyros midi channel ALL.
Normally when you play an arranger keyboard, you are constantly changing registrations, pushing buttons, changing volumes, etc. Individual midi channels are receiving new program patches, you switch between variations, so that the individual parts alter, to create more interest etc.
Then I experimented with playing, along with all 16 midi tracks and muting it. The sys-ex track spits out quite a bit of data. When the sysex data is muted, song still plays pretty well. When I muted sys-ex track. Song still played except Intro/Variation/Ending sections didn't change.
So I deduce that all this sys-ex data is mainly driving the song section of Tyros. When you change from Intro/Var/Ending. Tyros then puts out program changes, volume, filter, controller data. But that is output to the desired MIDI channel and recorded into that particular midi track.. From then on it is on individual MIDI channel, and it doesn't matter that song sections change.
Normally when you play an arranger keyboard, the instrument itself scans the left hand keyboard and figures out what chords you wish to use.. The Tyros (and clavinola I suspect too) has seven different fingering systems. I am currently playing with "AI Fingering". This is a type of shorthand so you don't have to use full conventional chords as a normal keyboard player does. This frees your left hand up for hitting various registrations, and buttons on keyboard while playing.
So in short muting the sys-ex channel, really didn't make much difference in playback other than Tyros front panel changing lit buttons.
There are several issues of individual tracks, not selecting designated program changes, whether or not sys-ex track is playing.. The Tyros has what's called 'Multi Pad Control'. These are four buttons that you can assigning a instrument and a small performance. These might be some percussion parts, harp arpeggios, acoustic guitar finger picking etc. Most of these will derive their notes, from the left hand chords you play.
While you are working on Tyros sequencer these are refered to as 'multi pad' track. It is one track with 4 different pads. Once song is recorded into Tyros sequencer, they come up as MIDI channels 5 - 8. Likewise when recording in Tyros, you have a "style" part which consists of two drum rhythm tracks, a bass part, two chord tracks (either guitarlike, or keyboard), a pad track (strings, choir) and two phrase tracks (horn riffs, guitar riffs). This style is what gives the arranger KBD it's power. These tracks are generated according to what your left hand is holding down. When these are generated they end up being recorded on MIDI tracks 9- 16.
Once they are in the Tyros sequencer they are now longer a style, but part of the song. In the Tyros
you start with 16 channels, 9 - 16 I described above. 1 - 8 are song, style, mpad, mic, left hand, and Right 1,2,3. Once you record a song these parts are then output MIDI channels 1 - 16 like a tradional DAW. I am not sure if Clavinola works in same manner - I would suspect it does.
Once I recorded Tyros performance into Logic and split by midi channel, I could display it in the score. This gives you a great overview into what the Keyboard is really doing. I could look at event list make subtle changes, fix some bum notes I hit. You can edit these in Tyros event list, but it is cumbersome to say the least. I could adjust volumes, filter brightness, etc.. You can see everything Tyros is doing from the event.. Quite impressive.
Program changes are still puzzling me. Tyros uses MSB/LSB and Program change to call up voices. I need to find a data list of Yamaha's MSB/LSB to figure out the exact program in each bank. On the Logic event list program 80 will be a 'square wave' but once you are in a different bank, of course it ISN'T, but it is still described as that.
There is a online data list PDF manual, that lists the banks, with programs, but I don't see a relationship between the MSB/LSB bank number that Yamaha uses and the MSB/LSB numbers in Logic's event list for a particular instrument. They don't co-incide. There is also an issue, that some data gets sent on same clock count.
event time 1.1.1. MSB, PRG
event time 1.1.2 LSB
It is my understanding that MSB and LSB must be sent BEFORE PRG, otherwise you get wrong voice. I'm not sure why, (PPQ differences between Tyros and Logic seq) but you need to go manually in, and move the PRG event to be AFTER the LSB event.
So once we figure out the scheme that Yamaha uses for MSB/LSB banks, we should be able to duplicate Logic's performance to sound the exact same as the Tyros. This aspect is over my head, I haven't been able to figure it out.
(HINT - Erick any one else with more tech experience - perhaps you could glance at this and make sense of Yamaha's MSB/LSB and Logic's MSB/LSB. This is the link to Tyros data list. Mike you'll have to find Clavinola's data list, but I'm sure interpretation would be the same for both instruments even if banks of data are different (I'm sure they would be too)
http://www2.yamaha.co.jp/manual/pdf/emi/english/port/tyros3en_dlv10c.pdf
Another issue I noticed is. Some of the performances in Tyros sound great. When you export the individual tracks to Logic and play from there it is not the same.. Tyros has filters and effects on individual tracks. and an overall compressor. EQ. Of course pulling each track individually alters how the compressor is going to react. So Tyros playing up too 16 tracks live sounds better than when you export each one individually.
Much as I love being a control freak, I'm tempted to record the Tyros "live two track" because most of the time is sounds so good. Getting the individual tracks into Logic and tweaking them, (little less filter here for one section, more volume there etc) would be the best of both worlds. And if there was a need to remix the song later. You could call up the file and quickly make a change. -
Logic Studio Won't Install...
Apple says:
• Mac computer with a 1.25GHz or faster PowerPC G4 processor (PowerPC G5, Intel Core Duo, or Intel Xeon processor highly recommended)
(I have a G4 AGB at 1.5GHz)
• 1GB of RAM (2GB or more highly recommended)
(I have 1GB)
• Display with 1024-by-768 resolution (1280-by-800 or higher recommended)
(Yup)
• Mac OS X v10.4.9 or later
(10.4.10)
• QuickTime 7.2 or later
(Yup)
• DVD drive for installation
(Yup)
• PCI Express, ExpressCard/34, USB, or FireWire based audio interface recommended
(ProTools HD|2 Accel on PCI)
Available Disk Space
• 7GB to install all applications and required content
• Additional 39GB to install all optional content (large content packages can be installed on separate disk):
– 10GB for Jam P
(Yup)
When I open the installer it tells me Alert:
My Video card is recommended to have more VRAM than I have.
My Video card is not recommended Open GL, doesn't do recommended Quartz.
I don't have recommended 2 GB of RAM
So when I press close on the alert, the installer quits.
I can't install any portion of Logic Studio (all I want to install is Logic 8 Pro).
These requirements aren't listed on the Logic Studio minimum requirements page or on the box or in the literature...So what gives? Can I or can't I run Logic 8 on my AGP Graphics G4 1.5 Ghz machine with 1 GB RAM?

Aargh! Just upgraded to Logic Studio and can't run Mainstage!
I just upgraded to Tiger and to Logic Studio. I know that my pitiful machine needs to go to someone else who doesn't use these apps, but I'm a working joe! I read the minimum requirements for LP8 and just met them. I guess I should'nt have assumed that mainstage couldn't require more assets than LP8! Anyhow it says that Mainstage needs: 1280 x 800 resolution, Open GL?, & 64MB VRAM. Does anyone know any hacks to get around these requirements, and would it crash the system? Also what is OpenGL anyhow?
-ThanksYou didn't mention what machine you have, but the requirements for MainStage are:
- Mac OS 10.4.9 with QuickTime 7.1.5 or later
- at least 900MB RAM
- 1024x768 screen resolution
- and a reasonably new graphics card
There is no way to hack around these, because they are requirements. However 1280x800 is not required, but highly recommended (hence the warning at launch time), but if the graphics card is not compatible (too old), there is nothing you can do about it! All machines that are described on the box are compatible with MainStage. The machine is probably also too slow for MainStage anyway. -

Logic Express 8 and Logic Studio Comparison chart
Does anyone know if Apple have released a comparison chart for Logic pro 8 and express 8? I know the main differences but I would like to see them on a chart.
Any ideas?*Ur Query*
The Compression you are inquiring about is an app called Compressor which used to be bundled with DVD Pro. This app which is now happily nesting within the Logic Studio app is used to compress your audio files via using different codex from Quicktime. In so doing it makes your audio & Visuals ready for a large selection of pro delivery formats I.e for the web and for DVD etc.
*Apples direction*
What Apple in its infinite wisdom did with Logic studio, was to look at it current Pro App Audio visual suite, FinalCut Pro, Soundtrack Pro, DVD Pro & Logic and started to stream line them. So everything pertaining to Audio in these other apps was transferred over to the Logic app which makes sense if you look at the bigger picture. This left Final Cut Pro and DvD Pro which have been brought together under the guise of FinalCut Studio here everything is housed pertaining to the Visual side of things.
Summery
So what you now have is a greatly slim-lined Pro App product line. The future is to have these as a clear brand which will provide the professional Multimedia business with a one stop solution to their audio visual needs. -
Tiger or Leopard for Logic Studio on my G4?
(This is a repost from a reply in another topic) According to Apple's system requirements I need to upgrade to either Tiger or Leopard to get Logic Studio to run on my G4. Does anyone with a simlilar machine have advice of whether 10.4 or 10.5 will be my best bet? Also how do I do a "clean install" and will it make a difference. -Thanks
Before doing a clean install please make sure you've back-up all your Songs,
then test to see if they work,
after they have work then you could then select the Hard-Drive from where you install L.P. 8 by double clicking onto it and use Spotlight which is at the Upper-Right of the H.D. you've just enter,
and type Logic-Pro 8 in seconds the installed Files will appear highlight all the Files you want that comes up saying Logic-Pro 8
Right-Click onto them then select Trash or Manually Drag them to the Trash.
As to whether you want to use Leo or Tiger its up to you,
I would love to use Leo however at this time it isn't fully supported by Digi Design Pro-Tools LE oo2R, so i'll have to wait before i jump in,
therefore if you don't have wait the choose is yours, Logic -Pro 8 requires OSX 10.4.9. straight to Leo + Quicktime 7.3
Good-Luck and a happy new-Year.
