Is stepper output from 7344 board truly a sinking output?

It appears as though the stepper output needs to be referenced to ground (sourcing) as opposed to being referenced to +5Volts (sinking). The manual doesn't include a schematic for the stepper output circuit. Does anyone know where I can obtain a copy of the schematic for the 7344 board, or at least a simplified diagram of the output circuit? I am trying to interface the 7344 through a UMI to a Compumotor A series stepper motor driver. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance, Rob.

Thanks both for answering! I think I understand now what the problem must be. I connected the oscilloscope to the 7344 output, and the signal goes to the 5V as it should, yet it's not quite square (I'm attaching a picture).
So I suppose it must be the load connected to the output.
The output signal as it comes out of the 7344 travels through an 8-meter-long cable until it reaches a buffer (74HC541) that then squares the signal and then to the stepper driver. Maybe the loss through the cable is too much for the open collector + 3.3kohm pull up. (?)
So I'll try as it's recommended at this other post http://forums.ni.com/t5/Motion-Control-and-Motor-Drives/how-to-generate-CW-CWW-signal-using-NI-7340-...
thanks again!

  • CPU-Usage during control of a DC Motor with the PCI-7344 board?

    Hello!
I want do control a DC-motor (no stepper motor). Now i´m using the PCI-6527 board and simulating the delay between "high" and "low" on the Simulate-signal-vi. This works fine while no other process on the PC is running. The CPU-usage rises up to 100%. Is it possible to use the PCI-7344 board for controlling my DC-motor and having enough CPU resources to do other things like capturing pictures with a cam at the same time? The CPU is a Pentium 3 1Ghz.

The PCI-7344 is a perfect solution for your problem. This board is designed for motion control applications and it's running everything on its own DSP and CPU:
Trajectory Generation, PID control, limit switch monitoring and so on.
Thus the PC's CPU is free for other tasks. Please note that you need a position feedback signal from a quadrature encoder.

  • Help! data manipulation for high speed streaming to disk from multiple boards and multiple channels

I am using Labview 7.1 and have been trying to capture data from 12 channels simutaneously sampled at 2MS/s each and streaming to disk for up to a minute or more.  The hardware I am using is 2 x PXI 6133 S series boards with a MXI4 link to a Pentium D 2.8 Ghz machine with 2Gb ram.   I have 2 sata drives set up in a raid 0 configuration which should give me hard disk write speed faster or equal to the MXI-4 transfer speed.
I have first started off by using the example code "multi device sync - analog input- cont acquisition" which has enabled me to sync the two boards and sample at the required speed.
To stream the data to disk, I have first merged the data from each board  together to save it to one file.  I have tried using the storage vi's but I end up with a Daqmx read error (trying to read data that is no longer available).  I have played around with the read data size to the point that I either get a insufficient memory error, or I get the "trying to read data that is no longer available"  error.  I have also tried using the file IO blocks with some success and have found that I have been able to stream to disk only if I configure the daqmx read block to output the data in "raw 1D I16" format and plugging it into the file-write block.  In doing this, I have noticed that using  multiple channels on one daqmx read task, I will get all the channels in one 1D array rather than a 2D array organized by channels.  This makes it messy to read at the end of this, and I also don't want to write another vi to separate the channels, due to the high chance of getting the data mixed or messed up if I happen to change the number of channels on a board
Is there a cleaner way of streaming this data to disk and keeping the channel data separated from each other?, and/or is there a better way to capture and handle the data I need?
I have attached the vi which I have got to consistantly work streaming to disk using the raw 1D I16 format.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

    Hi,
    i can suggest following
Refer to an example VI called as "High speed data logger.VI"  in conjunction with "High Speed data logger reader.vi" in Labview examples. Alhrough the logger might be in Tradiditional Daq format, it can be quite easily converted to Daq Mx format to store data in Binary (I32 format) . I have used this for many of my applications and i have found that the data retrieved does not have any "messups".
Why not keep a seperate file for each card? This way, you do not have to load your application with extra process. You only have to acquire and save. After saving in Binbary format, you can retrive it offline, convert it to ascii format and merge the data files of various cards to get one consolidated ascii data file.
    hope this helps
    Regards

  • Re: Did you know: Playing radio streams from bulletin board

    a) Make a textfile with the url.
    b) Rename the file ending to .asx.
    c) Draw the file from the explorer to the bulletin board

Yes! More or less! I am very happy!
I'm using 9 desktops with "dextop". I've installed the multi-touch pack from microsoft with its "flicks". Panning is enabled in my firefox browser. It's a very good system.
(I've disabled automatic rotation. There were to much bugs with explorer.)
Sometimes the screen stops to react. The solution is the following: I hold down the hardware-key for ctrl-alt-del until the screen with the task manager appears. Then I touch cancel and everything works again.
Bulletin Board is very cool with 9 desktops: All the windows of every screen appear in the list of open windows. So applications can easily be moved from one desktop to another one. And with bulletin board you can start applications on the desktop you want and play multimedia files.
But in the last time I've sometimes a problem: When I restart the computer from standby and I touch the lower screen the cursor appears in the higher screen. I think that the problem is linked to the bulletin board. I've no good solution for the problem. I close the computer and restart it from standby and everything is fine again.
The w100 is a very good computer. The dual screen is very useful. I can always switch the keyboard to the screen where it doesn't hide important informations.
I can read big articles on two screens.
For programming it is very useful too. With the panning I can go through the program text in Delphi very fast. I can insert the text exactly at the place were is belongs without mouse movements. I can move parts of text very fast. ...and I can work in my bed! With the visual C++ express editor the panning doesn't work very well. But the scroll bars are very reactif if I double click them.
I like very much the bulletin board, but there are some bugs. It has much potential and could be a very rich platform for multimedia and social services. I can start directly my delphi projects from bulletin board with double click and open my browser from bulletin board directly at the right page.
I take pictures of the digital edition of my news paper on the bulletin board.
I'm waiting for the next upgrade of the bulletin board.

  • How to read from two boards at the same time

I have two NI DAQ Boards, a PCI 6034E and a PCI 6025E I want to make one a master and one a slave and read from both at the same time. Do they need jumpers between them
from one board to the other or does the motherboard bus take care of that? I can find software to handle this but I can't find anything on the way the hardware should be configured, is there a cable I need between them?

  • Unplugged battery from logic board now it won't recognise there's a battery plugged in

So over the last week I've been having issues with my power cable, often it wouldn't work, sometimes it would but it wouldn't hold for long. After a week or so it started flashing green but sort of more dull green. No orange. After some extensive research I found a temporary fix was to unplug the battery from the board plug it back in and voila. Supposedly. So when that didn't work, and after spotting the tiny teeth marks right beneath the MagSafe bit from a very naughty kitten, I bit the bullet and paid the £60 (expensive when you're a jobless student, hey, times are tough) for a replacement charger, and the new cable worked a charm. BUT, now my MacBook says it's got no battery available and I'm thinking maybe I've been a bit of an idiot unplugging it. I'm on an early 2011 MBP running a version of snow leopard. I've done all the smc resets etc and the stuff for kernals? (I'm not mac proficient yet) and now I'm thinking maybe I need a new battery but I can't afford one or the diagnostic + replacement charges at the Genius Bar. So I pose this dilemma to you, the community, in the hopes that someone can help me. I can provide any extra info necessary so don't hesitate to ask. Many thanks for responses.
A confused, lost and terrified man.

Try the SMC again.  Make certain that you use the correct instructions.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964
If no success, make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar.  The diagnosis will be FREE.  Any repairs will not be free but you will know exactly what you are dealing with.
Since you MBP does not even recognize the battery suggests that there is a connection break.  I'm wondering if damage was done when you disconnected and then reconnected the battery (to the battery connection).
    Ciao.

  • No audio output from either board

I have two machines running MSI boards. The one I am on now is a 7640 ver. 3.1 with Win8, the other is 7597 ver 1.1 with Win7. Both worked properly for a long time. This one stopped outputting audio last week. There are no yellow flags in device manager on anything, the control panel shows the Realtek audio is working fine, but no sound comes out. It was obviously the speakers, right? Wrong. I took the speakers from my daughter's computer that were working fine, put them on mine and nothing. I put the speakers back on her machine and they are still fine. A week later, her Windows crashed. I reinstalled Win7 and now there is no audio output on that machine! Everything says it's fine from device manager to control panel, but there is only silence.
What can I be missing? Help would be appreciated.

Well, as you have problems with two machines add both machine's details following >>Posting Guide<< as already said.
Reinstall in any case realtek audio: http://www.msi.com/service/download/driver-2584.html

  • Whether it is possible to drive a stepper motor from speedy 3's output

actually i am trying to design an voice controlled wheel chair for my application wat i have did is tat i have writern two programs using labview one is just storing my voice for four commands(namely front ,frontright ,frontleft, stop) ,tat  it stores some value in an array, in my second vi i am speaking one of the four commands, and tat comands amplitude is stroed in an array and i am just comparing it with the values from the first array which i have stored it for all the four commands if any of the array value matches just approximately the i have to make the stepper motor to drive in tat direction i have done it with PIC microcontroller can u give some directions to implement using speedy33

    Hi,
The SPEEDY-33 Robotics Daugher Module is an add-on device that mounts onto the SPEEDY-33 to provide more functionality. It includes:
    DC Motor Drive Outputs (4)
    Auxiliary Servo Motor Outputs (4)
    Analog Inputs (4)
    External Power Supply Connection
Details of the daughter module, you cn find at the link below:
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/832F1F4B12ECE1BE862572D100765898?OpenDocument
This daughter module is NOT an NI product.
For connecting a stepper motor, since speedy 33 has digital outputs, it is possible to work a stepper motor. However, you will have to connect a stepper motor drive inorder to amplify the signals to the current specifications that the stepper motor demands. Find out the specs of your motor and choose an appropriate drive.

  • MOVED: Media Live Diva - No audio from on board RCA audio outputs

This topic has been moved to AMD64 ATI/SiS/VIA boards.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=136129.0

I have been able to get output from the RCA on my board, make sure you're plugging into the Line-Out ones. I found that I have to play with the settings in windows to get them to work (connecting to a surround sound amp). I cannot remember off the top of my head but theres options in windows for playback devices: HDMI Audio, D2 Audio, Speakers, Headphones. Try each of these in turn, you can right click each one and hit Test and it will play a chirpy little tune in each speaker L+R.
Not that this only outputs stereo and may be quiet on some systems as it is a line level output i.e. it needs to be amplified.
    Hope that helps.

I am using the Media Live Diva (MS-7411).  I am unable to route the audio to the RCA audio outputs built into the system board.  I do not see an option to select these outputs in the setup.   Any help would be appreciated as the MSI support seems to know very little about this board.
    thanks,

  • Input and output reading from quanser board

My department recently gave my senior design group a Quanser board to use for a project. We are having trouble reading data from the motor sensors in Labview. We are using Labview 2010. Can anyone tell me what channels I should be looking at and what kind of inputs they would read? Thanks.

OK, can you post a .png format screen shot of your code (block diagram) so we can see the broken wires. And what the error message is? Quanser is located in Quebec, Canada so they probably have gone home for the day.

  • A minor helpful tip - Convertion of TV Tuner audio output from on-board sc to SB Live! 24 bit

    Hi guys,
Many of you might had known about it but I just would like to share my tiny knowledge here with those who might has the same problem when they upgrade their on-board sc to SB Li've! 24 bit sc.
If you have a on-borad sound card, and if you decided to but a new SB Li've! 24 bit sc and then you might find that all audio are OK after installing the SB Li've! 24 bit sc except sound/audio from your TV tuner !!! . . the TV sound is MUTED!
Firstly, there is this tiny Audio Cable connected from your TV tuner card to a 4-pin input-jumper somewhere on the motherborad (since it's a on-borad sc, you might not find it on the on-board sc or next to it). Please note that my on-board sc is refering to my On-board Realtek AC97 Audio sc as for my case. You might have a different on-borad sc, but generally the setup is more or less the same.
After installing your SB Li've! 24 bit sc, make sure you re-direct this tiny Audio Cable from TV tuner card to the 4-pin Audio input jumper of you SB Li've! 24 bit sc.
Then, go to your WindowsXp Sound control property, UN-MUTE the Auxiliary.
Then, go to your TV software program to configure the AUDIO SOURCE to Auxiliary.
Tada . . you got the sound/audio from TV. Now. . you can surf the net or do your work while enjoy your TV program at the top of the screen!!
    I hope this help!

    Latest....
After reinserting the ATI card, I was not able to test before driver installation due to low resolution video.
I tested after installing the latest ATI driver and still had zero SCP issues.
I then uninstalled the original driver from the SB Li've CD and reinstalled the latest driver from filename SB24_WEB64_LB__04_0055
    SCP is BACK!
This DOES seem to indicate a major change in the Creative drivers from original issue to current issue that are not in spec.
    My SB Li've model # is SB040.
The information from the p7.inf file on my CD is as follows.....
