They have a trial version you can test before you purchase. It limits you to 10 minutes of streaming before it starts inserting noise into the stream.
But you may not need it. I've read a bit further, and it appears that you may be able to stream any system audio to an Airport Express without needing AirFoil since you have Mountain Lion. I though it would work only with an Apple TV, but I've seen mention that it works with the AE as well (I don't have one to try). When you get your Airport Express set up, go to the Sound (speaker) icon in the menu bar, hold down the Option key, and click the icon. You may see the AE listed there as a selectable output device; if so, select it and all your system audio should be sent to the AE, including Spotify.

  • How to solve the monitor shuffle?  G4, G5, Cinema Display and 2 ViewSonics

Here's a monitor puzzle I'm hoping to get some help with.
    I have two computers- a G4 and a G5.
    COMPUTERS
G4- 1 VGA port, 1 ADC port - video card is ATI rage 128 pro.
    http://everymac.com/systems/apple/powermacg4/stats/powermac_g4450.html
    G5- 2 DVI ports
    http://everymac.com/systems/apple/powermacg5/stats/powermac_g5_2.7dp.html
    MONITORS- 1 20" Cinema Display
    - Two 17" LCD Viewsonic VG720 displays. Both monitors have a VGA and DVI output.
*What we need to do is have the Cinema Display on one computer, and the ViewSonics on the other in a 2-monitor setup.* It doesn't matter which monitors go where, as long as they work.
The ViewSonics can't do a simple 2-monitor setup on the G4. One of them can hook up to the VGA port. But the other one can't hook up to the ADC.
But since the ViewSonics are both DVI-compatible, they work great with the G5, with no problems.
This leaves the Cinema Display to be hooked up to the G4. The Cinema display is a DVI, but the G4 is only VGA and ADC. I bought a DVI to VGA adapter and hooked it up to the G4, but no response from the monitor. No luck.
Question 1: Would this work if I bought a DVI to ADC adapter?
    I've seen this: http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore?productLearnMore=T27 74G/A
... But I don't want to buy it if it won't work either.
    Other scenario:
I hook the Cinema Display up to the G5 (flawless) and try to put the 2 ViewSonics on the G4. One will hook up to the VGA just fine, but then I'm left trying to convert either a DVI or a VGA to the G4's ADC.
Question 2: If I buy an adapter for this purpose, could I do a 2-monitor hookup with a VGA and an ADC on the G4?
    Thanks for helping!
    Owen

    Thanks for your response--
    I looked at this adapter:
    http://www.mycableshop.com/sku/ADCHD1506.htm
    However, it says this:
"The adapter cable allows any VGA monitors to be connected to the new dual-display G4 system with ADC video interface. The VGA monitor can be used as the primary display, or as a second display on G4 that supports dual-monitor support. Compatible with GeForce 4 MX, GeForce 4 Ti, Radeon 7500, and Radeon 9000 Pro."
My graphics card is a ATI Rage 128 Pro. Will it not work, then?
What is the possibility of adapting the Cinema Display from DVI to ADC?
    Thanks!

  • How do I replace the frame from the monitor on my GX740?

Problem: When I move the hinges on my laptop, sometimes the screen goes black until I move it into a different position, like the light disconnects (in fact, I'm pretty sure that's exactly what happens, as I can still see some stuff on the screen; it's just not lit). Having had LCD problems in the past with other machines, I figured "hey, probably just a loose connector, it happens; I should be able to just lock that strip back in place quite easily" (why they don't just make those connectors less prone to falling out - especially ones located in or near hinges - eludes me).
Sure. If I can just get inside the monitor frame. Which it seems I can't. I removed the screws, but when I tried to pull off the plastic frame, it cracked. The plastic frame around my monitor now has visible cracks in it.
So now I need to know not only how to remove this frame, but if possible, also where I can get a replacement for just that one part. I'll gladly take just an answer to the first part and live with the cracked frame as long as I can do something about the loose connector, but if there's an answer to the second part as well, that'd be really neat.
So...how do I remove the frame? Where can I get a new one now that I've ruined this one? Are there spares? Are they expensive?
I'd greatly appreciate a quick answer to the frame removal question, as I intend to bring this computer on a trip overseas and would like the LCD light to not have disconnected completely by the time I arrive, so I'd like to properly attach it before it's time to leave.
I've never had a machine that's so hard to open. This strikes me as quite user-unfriendly design, especially given how little it takes for an LCD connector disconnect, especially one located in the hinge area of a laptop.

    Thanks for the follow up.
Missing in this equation were the version of Premiere Elements that you were using and the computer operating system on which it was running. But...
The deed is done. But.....Until now and after you went ahead and moved to version 12, we now learn what version of Premiere Elements you were using. We still do not know the computer operating system involved.
You just said Premiere Elements 10. Premiere Elements 10 is hit by a serious known display issue if the computer uses a NVIDIA GeForce video card/graphics card. In this issue, the only remedy is to roll back the driver version to about May 2013. The description of the problem and how to do the roll back are described in one of the Announcements at the top of this forum. What video card/graphics card does your computer use?
On another front, Adobe will be releasing a new version of Premiere Elements any day now. No one but Adobe knows the feature set for the new version. That type of information is announced at the moment of release of the new version.
So the remedy to the problem that you presented in this thread could have been...
    1. Rolling back the NVIDIA GeForce driver version to about May 2013 if possible (Windows 8 or 8.1 64 bit, may not be possible)
    2. Move to another version of Premiere Elements (which you did)
I offer the above for consideration so that you can review your decisions. We are pleased to learn that Premiere Elements 12/12.1 works for you.
Please do not hesitate to ask questions and ask for clarifications, but remember that the answers are in the details.

  • Questions regarding using the .monitor command to retur a animated image and we would like feedback to a designed webpage that is monitoring a 5kW windturbine:)

I'm embedding a front panel image in an existing HTML dokument. I would like to use the command .monitor in the URL together with the refresh command so the VI automatic will reload every 20 secund. This actual work, but simultaneous I want to have the possibility to refresh manually so I don't have to wait 20 sec before new values is shown in the display. Is this possible to do?
Another question: Since the real time display updates 1-2 times a secund the command .monitor is used to get a animated picture of the Real Time Display.
There are several ways to add animation on to web pages. The techniques used h
ere are the server push and client pullwhich makes the browser repeatedly reloads a changing inline image to provide crude animated sequences. This is not the most efficient way as this results in an image being re-transmitted for each frame of the animation. The command .monitor with the attribute refresh and lifespan in the URL trigger this server push and client pull techniques.
I use this automatic refresh uploading of the display so that it each time shows different values, is this called crude animation? Then I'm wondering what I'm suppose to use the command lifespan to?I can't see the use of it in my display.....?
link to the webpage so you can have a look at the display:
    http://134.7.139.176/.monitor?Real%20Time%20Performance.vi&refresh=20
This is a project that I'm working together with another Norwegian friend. WE are very happy for feedback on our web page and displays go to: http://www.ece.curtin.edu.au/~peersena/ if you would like to view itThanks

    Annis,
One of the other things to keep in mind is that the generation of an image does take some computing power so having the generation and the acquistion on the same machine is not always ideal. If you're using the machine that is publishing the front panel just to collect data it's not so much of an issue.
If you really want to monitor in "Real-Time" using Remote Panels (requies LabVIEW 6.1) is your best option. This posting has more information on using Remote Panels and links to some live examples:
    http://exchange.ni.com/servlet/ProcessRequest?RHIVEID=101&RPAGEID=135&HOID=506500000008000000C0660000&UCATEGORY_0=_49_%24_6_&UCATEGORY_S=0&USEARCHCONTEXT_TIER_0=0&USEARCHCONTEXT_TIER_S=0&USEARCHCONTEXT_QUESTION_0=web+control&USEARCHCONTEXT_QUESTION_S=0
Remote panels makes it possible to control the application remotely as well.
With .monitor the only way I've been able to manually refresh is to "Shift+Refresh" on the browser.

  • No Preview in the Monitor panel

    Hello all,
when I start playing the images, there is no preview available in the Monitor panel (white screen). Only stopped sequenzes were shown and the sound is playing. This problem occurs independently from the used files. When starting Pre there is a failure shown:Problems with the Intel Graphics. But the driver is updated to the latest version. Furthermore it is not possible to change the setting from the Graphic Card as described in  the Pre Help.
Select Edit > Preferences > General.
Deselect Enable GPU Playback and in the Playback Preferences dialog, click OK to confirm.
    This menu is not available!
Thanks in advance for your help and best regards,

What model of camcorder is your video coming from and what format it is?
When you started your project, which project settings did you select? If you selected the right project settings for your video, you will NOT see red lines above your clips when you add them to your timeline. Is this the case in your project?
Have you ensured you have the latest version of Quicktime, per the program's requirements? Have you gone to the nVidia or ATI site and ensured you have the latest drivers for your graphics card?

  • When mirroring - can I turn off the monitor on my Mac...?

I just set up my MacBook Pro with my AppleTV and everything is working nicely. However, It would be even better if I could get my computer monitor to turn off while I'm viewing on my TV.
    Is this possible?

    Actually, the answer is YES!
Thought it best to post here again because I discovered that while Mirroring, turning off the monitor on my MacBook Pro is possible (despite a few replies here that it cannot be done). Its super easy to do, just dim the monitor until it goes completely dark, and continue to use your computer as it is displayed on the TV. The trick is not to close the monitor down, that will put the computer to sleep.
While I was hoping I could also achieve the same result while my MacBook is connected to my Cinema display, it seems the dimming capability on the Cinema display is limited to getting very dim, but not turning off completely.
I'll keep researching this some more and if I have any more updates I will post back to share -- hopefully there are other users who will find this info helpful.
For now, I will be using my TV as my primary display while my MacBook Pro's monitor is turned off.

  • HT3988 how to connect external keyboard to the garage band if its possible

how to connect external keyboard to the garage band if its possible,
is any body tried ? I have roland e66 keyboard and im trying to
connect with grage band but i dont know thats is possible??

You can definitely just connect a mouse and keyboard and then an external monitor and it will work. In the power options in the Windows control panel you will have a choice as to what happens when the lid is closed. Set it to "do nothing" and then you can shut the lid of the laptop and use only the external monitor.

  • VBA API: How to get the monitor number?

    Hello,
    I have written
    an Excel application which
    controls an external application
    (making inputs,
    reads out the window,
    etc.).
I use a lot of API functions, e.g. as in the code from thisarticle:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/194578?wa=wsignin1.0
    A basic
    function of my application is
    to distinguish between windows
    that have the same title
    but are on different monitors.
In my windows (and NVIDIA) settings the left monitor is 1 and the right monitor is 2.
In the past I have this routine to "identify" the monitor number from a window handle:
Function GetWindowMonitor(ByVal hWnd As Long) As Integer
Dim hMonitor As Long, MI As MONITORINFO, hM
    hMonitor = MonitorFromWindow(hWnd, MONITOR_DEFAULTTONEAREST)
    MI.cbSize = Len(MI)
    GetMonitorInfo hMonitor, MI
    Set mMonitor = New Collection
EnumDisplayMonitors ByVal 0&, ByVal 0&, AddressOf MonitorEnumProc, ByVal 0&
    For Each hM In mMonitor
    GetWindowMonitor = GetWindowMonitor + 1
If hM = hMonitor Then Exit Function
    Next
    GetWindowMonitor = 0
    End Function
But last week I got a new graphic card and now this obvious stupid function fails, because EnumDisplayMonitors delivers the 2nd monitor first and then the 1st
    monitor.
Long talk, short question: Is there any way to get the real monitor numbers as they are shown inside the windows settings?
    Andreas.

When you need to identify monitors, call CreateDC with "DISPLAY" as the driver name and pass monitor name as the device name. Then you can draw a number on the result HDC.
I can not draw that number and I can not set an identifier. As I said in my last post:
I share this tool with my colleagues at work.
Okay... CreateDC is an idea... as I've read at MSDN I can call EnumDisplayMonitors with a DC to get informations about the monitor, so I tried the code below, but it doesn't work.
EnumDisplayMonitors does not call my MonitorEnumProc when I call it with a DC.
Do I something wrong? Do I misunderstood the MSDN article? Is that not possible? Can you confirm that?
    Andreas.

    Hello,
Is it possible to switch off the monitor and the keyboard lights of a MacBook Air while I'm using it at home with an external monitor and keyboard?

You can turn off the keyboard lights by unchecking System Preferences > Keyboard > keyboard tab > Automatically illuminate keyboard in low light.   Then use F5 to lower the keyboard to off.
The Monitor can't be switched off but can be reduced to almost off using the F1 key.
