Is there a Color-coding Convention for ICONs in LabView?
Some times I am puzzled with 16Million color to code my subvi's ICONs. I wonder if there is a Color-coding convention that I could use to specify the right color for my subvi's. If someone has figured out a way to do that please let me know.
Somewhere along the line I ran across a standards document that did suggest different colors for different type of functions. I found this to suitable for very basic applications but in more complicated applications the color coding does not quite cut it. An example would be a system where you are integrating a half dozen type of devices. Using the same background color for all of the I/O icons will quickly render your hiarchy window rather useless!
The next issue with the color schem to represent functionality you run into is the higher level VI that do a little of this and a little of that. The standard then suggests using border colors to represent functionality. This becomes a problem in one of two ways. On large screens (like those typically used by LV developers) the adjacent colors of a border are percieved as a mixute of the two border colors. The fix to this would be to use wider borders. This inevitably lead to all of the high level VI all looking like they were dveloped by someone on LSD who was into the time tunnel effect!
I will generally encourage developers to take the time to put together a meaningful icon. LV will let you drop cut and pated BMP's into the icon editor. IF there is an logo or a picture of an instrument avaliable somewhere, I grab it and use it fot the icon. This approach makes it possilbe for other developers to take a quick look at teh hiarchy and be able to narrow things down quick to the sub-VI associated with that image.
I also encorage tehm to get used to composing their own icons. The icon editor may not be slickest tool in the world but the icons on the diagram end up being small enough that you do not need to be an artist to get the idea across. Durring my last project I wanted to use a scroll icon for all log related functions. I was curious if I could put one together fast. Start to finish to took less than three minutes. Three minutes of effort is well worth it when your are looking at a hiarchy with 500+ VI's!
Too illustrate let me relate an experience. My wife (a non-wireworker) looked at a icon I just dropped on my diagram that had a crude cartoon face with the word "NEW" above it. She said "New User?". I flet I had accomplished my task.

I try to customize my firefox as much as possible and with that being said I am stuck trying to figure out if there is a way to take a new folder in the bookmark menu and take off the icon of the folder to the left of the folder and then on the right there is a little sideways triangle that basically opens up to another folder or link within.
Curious if I can take that out as I already know there is folders/links in there it would just look better.
If there is a way to take out the sideways triangle will it still work the same way just without the arrow? I have subfolders in there just do not see the point in having a triangle there to tell me.
Enclosing a picture if do not understand what I mean.
Not the toolbar, When you go to file, edit, view, history, bookmarks then drop that down all your folders are within that. Trying to remove the icon and right sideways arrow when you make new folders. The icon on left of a pic of a folder and then to the right the >.

Photoshop keeps changing color code
When I open the color picker in photoshop CS4 I enter the color code fd02c5. For some reason it won't let me use that exact color and keeps automatically changing it to d54599. It has done this before with other colors.
How can I get it to use that exact color and stop changing it?Your doc is CMYK and fd02c5 is outside the gamut (available colors) of your CMYK color space. Try working in sRGB or pick a color within the CMYK gamut.

I will look at keywords. My issue is speed. Right now I am culling and editing an event shoot that spanned a week with 35 separate events and more than 5000 images. So I use the fastest most convenient method I can and it still takes a long time to have a completed and final shoot. On this shoot I will end up with a final set of around 1500 images. Right now I am finishing processing a show that will hang in the Deutsches Amerikanish Zentrum in Stuttgart.
As I am sure you are aware by now, having seen enough of my inane questions that over the last two years or since Lightroom version 1.xx if I could not figure out how to do something I skipped it. So many things in Lightroom are buried and unless you have a mind like a steel trap (and think that some of you guys in the forum do) locating how to do something is not obvious.
For example, I only learned (in the last hour) that I could assign colors as a group of selections by using Shift + number. I found this in a side head in Martin Evenings Lightroom book. I still do not know how to find a way to display the color filter "selection" set in Library mode. Is there a way?
To top it off, Stuttgart Media University asked me if I would add a Lightroom module to my schedule this year. Now I have a compelling reason to learn all those missing pieces that I have created workarounds for. Hence the number of posts you have been seeing from me over the past few of weeks.
I tell my class that there are no such things as stupid questions, only questions. Now I am practicing what I have been preaching for the last gazillion years. Guys like you have been great.
My workflow is
1. I first separate all images by event. I do that at the time of import.
2. I do a fast pass rejecting all the obviously bad images
3. I do a second pass grouping the images by sub-group (speeches, people talking, performances, etc.) This is where I run out of selection methods and your key-wording could work but it would probably take too much time to establish a keyword set for a single event. Where I have more than five subgroups I set up different collection sets with one collection for each sub group. However I would like to keep a single event in one collection.
4. I then select the images to be used by color code.
5. Next I process the final images (crop develop etc) by collection.
6. Last I output the set according to client requirement.
If you have a better workflow, I am all ears.
By the way, what is your photo specialty and where are you located?

I had a look into the naming conventions enforced by 'DEFAULT' variant of code inspector (SCI).
the relevant categories are: "Naming Conventions", and "Extended Naming conventions for Programs" under "Programing conventions".
in the "Extended Naming conventions for Programs" category, for functions, (applicable while calling the functions) it says,
importing parameter : I[:type:]_
exporting parameter : E[:type:]_
changing parameter : C[:type:]_
tables parameter : T[:type:]_
but in the "naming conventions" category, for functions (applicable while defining the functions), it says,
importing parameter : P_*
exporting parameter : P_*
changing parameter : P_*
tables parameter : P_*
I felt, while defining the function too, its better to have beginning with I_, E_, C_ or T_ instead of P_
is the 'DEFAULT' variant of code inspector is provided and recommended by SAP?
for easier maintenance and clearer understanding, which naming convention is more suitable, or is there any official guidelines released by SAP for ABAP developers.

I would like my developers to have an easy way to name them and also find them via intellisense.
So I was thinking in naming them the following way :

VL_EmployeesToDepartments
Application Module :

However the use of "_" is not so "Java naming oriented".
So other alternatives would be:
1. take the "_" :
1.1 EOEmployee (I don't like the fact of having 3 capital letters together).
1.2 EoEmployee (I don't like the fact of having Entity Object with a lowercase "o").
2. Use the prefix at the end, but this way I loose the intellisense feature I want:
ex: EmployeeEO

It is true that you cannot add more than 250 plots to a 2d-axis graph in the REPORT. One work around is to have the graphs stacked on top of each other and plot 250 to one graph and 250 more to another graph. I am including a TDR (you have to unzip it) file that has 12 2d-axis stacked on top of each other. Most of the properties have been made invisible through the graph properties. You can still see the legends however. One caveat to this is that you will have issues accessing the different graphs. You have to do it from a VBScript. The following line of code worked for me:
Call GraphObjOpen("2DAxis" + Str(NewAxis))
Where NewAxis is a variable that defines which graph I want to look at. You would of course have to loop through the graphs as you add data.

1. Validate the company code (BUKRS ) & Purchasing document type (BSTYP = F) from EKKO table for the Purchase order number (EBELN).
2. Check the entries for the Purchase order and the item number in the Purchase order history table ( EKBE) and also Validate if there is any down payment document exists (VGABE = 4)
3. If we find down payment doc in EKBE table then display the warning or error message as POP - UP by using functional module POPUP_TO_CONFIRM.
Step 1: Validate Company code and Purchasing Document type from EKKO table
Step 2: Check the Purchasing document history from EKBE table
Step 3: Check whether any down payment exists.
Step 4: Display popup message to user:
Use the function module u201CPOPUP_TO_CONFIRMu201D to display the below message u201CPo cannot be changed, Down payment already exists for this PO item u201D.

For those who wish to upload and use a picture in your ALV abap reports.
Steps for uploading Logo :-:
1. Goto the transaction OAER
2. Enter the class name as 'PICTURES'
3. Enter the class type as 'OT'
4. Enter the object key as the name of the logo you wish to give
5. Execute
6. Then in the new screen select Standard doc. types in bottom window
Click on the Screen icon
Now, it will ask for the file path where you have to upload the logo
7. Now you can use this logo in REUSE_ALV_COMMENTARY_WRITE

Import Logo and Background Picture for Reporting
In this step, you can import a customer-specific logo and a background picture into the R/3 System. These will be displayed in the header area of reports in HR Funds and Position Management.
From the SPRO:
HR Funds and Position Management --> Dialog Control --> Customize Reporting Interface --> Import Logo and Background Picture for Reporting.
Activities
1. Enter the Name of your logo/background picture as an object key in the initial screen.
2. Make sure that the class name is PICTURES, and the class type is OT.
3. Choose Execute.
4. Double-click the document type Picture on the Create tab page. A dialog box will appear in which you can enter the path in which the logo/background picture can be found.
5. Enter the path and choose Open. The logo will be uploaded into the current R/3 System. If the logo/background picture is to be transported into other systems as well, choose Transport.
6. Return to the initial screen and repeat the procedure after having entered the Name of your background picture as an object key.
Please note that the logo/background picture can only be displayed in ALV-based reports with an HTML header. Manually programmed reports such as business distribution plans are not based on the ALV.
If you have selected several initial objects, ALV-based reports in HR Funds and Position Management will automatically use a hiearchical-sequential display. A logo is not displayed here either. Note also that the logo cannot be printed (see print preview in program).
Make sure that the logo does not exceed a height of 100 pixels because it would mean that the header of the report will be scrollable. -
I am trying to do a migration transfer from an older Mac Pro, running Leopard, to a newer Mac Pro, running Lion. There is a step that asks for a "passcode" to proceed. I have no idea what that passcode is. It seems to want a numeric code. Has anyone had this experience?
