Is there a delay due to holidays?

I forwarded my mac.com published site to a personal domain name I purchased (through go daddy) and was given the usual "it takes 48 hours to process", but that was on 12/24. It is now 12/27. Does the Christmas holiday affect the 48 hours? I have done this before with a different personal domain name a couple weeks ago, and it only took the 48 hours as stated.

Most likely, yes. Almost every business that I know of closes on Christmas, and most on Christmas Eve. This is a hard one, because the process is pretty much automated though. I would give it until today, and then contact someone about it tomorrow if it still isn't up. Best of luck to you and your site!

A Background job in one of the step delays due to awaiting for Gateway

Hi,
We have the month-end jobs executing in our Production systems every last week of month
It was observed that, one BGD job took 30-45 mins delay to finish.
- In one of the steps, there is Parallel processing with 56 DIA work processes across 4 Application servers out of 6.
- It was observed that all these 56 processes were showing status ON HOLD (Reason RFC) when we checked.
- I went to the BGD job process (sm51) to see if the job is executing
- I saw the message - further awaiting for Gateway XXXX (Prod server)
- I checked in SM59 and all RFCs were OK
- Even in SMGW everything was OK
Please help me to find what exactly is the reason for the delays due to Gateways

Hi Ashish,
The BGD job running on one of the work process indicated - "Waiting for Gateway XXXX (Prod system)"
Here when I checked the 56 DIA work processes, it indicated - ON HOLD & Status - RFC.
I need to know more on the Gateway mechanisim in this. Hope the problem was in the gateway connection for a temporary proceess
Else the system was OK. No improper functioning was observed.
Need to explore more on this.

In Version 7.1.1. Why is there a delay playing songs in iTunes?

I am an older working musician. This is my 1st iPad (Ver.7.1.1) which I bought specifically to play MP3 drum tracks in my trio. I purchased NextSong and Go Button and am trying to use an AirTurn bluetooth foot pedal to trigger some of the songs. NextSong, a great little app, is basically a controller for iTunes which contains all of my MP3s (originally produced on Alesis SR16/18 machines and recorded). I also loaded all of my MP3 drum tracks separately into Go Button which is a theatrical music/cue controller. I have two issues with playback (in either program) even without using the AirTurn pedal:
1) When the track is played there is a ramp up in volume at the beginning. It is probably around 250 milliseconds. May not sound like big problem but it is. Most of my tracks start with four drum stick clicks (imitating a live drummer) and when you can't hear the first drum click we don't start together.
2) There is delay from the moment I hit start and when the track actually starts playing (this is even evident in iTunes itself). It isn't a consistent amount of time even on the same track played, let's say, 3 times in a row. Sometimes it's 100 milliseconds but sometimes longer even on the same track. This is critical if I'm trying to start a drum track in the middle of the song (and the reason I bought the AirTurn pedal). I had a lot of correspondence with the programmer of NextSong and it seems to him that it was a problem with this latest iPad/iTunes version.
I've been all over Settings but can't find anything that may correct the problem. Any suggestions?

I think there is a problem. I dont get the noises on each song even though that happened to me on a previous update but rather than being a sporadic click it was a very loud hiss over every single track...
The latest problem with my copy is that the songs are only playing out of one speaker and its not even the centre speakers, its the left speaker.
The last time itunes didnt work properly it took apple around a week or so to correct so im not worried at the moment but i have to use windows media player in the mean time which I dont like to use.

Click on this link: https://p13-calendars.icloud.com/holiday/US_en.ics and it will download a file named US_en.ics to your downloads folder.
Double-click on the file and you will be offered the opportunity to add a calendar to iCal. Just be sure to create a "New Calendar." Don't import into an existing calendar.

I believe there is zero difference between declaring the variables individually and declaring them in one statement. The compiler should be smart enough to produce the same compiled code regardless.
IF there is any difference it would be so small as to be insignificant. I think someone with more experience could confirm if the compiled code is identical or not.
Declaring variables in a single line is less readable and manageable. I never do it. If you do want to do it I'd suggest only combining variables that are directly related into the same line, e.g.
bool positionX, positionY;
int counter, counterTwo, counterThree;

Background job delay due to 'ARFC' jobs running continously

Dear all,
As we are facing problem that,there is job starting with the 'ARFC'(example: ARFC:AC1F0C0D386B463CA88E8D10) which runs with all the users in the system.Thus the other background jobs even the sys monitoring jobs also goes for the delay for the longer time.This is happening from past 10 days.I m unable to trace what has got change in the system due to which ,I m facing this issue.I had checked in the job logs also, in which i didnt got any help.In that it is only mentioned owner of the job.Pls check this at the high priority as it is affecting my normal background jobs.

jobs which are stuck at ARFC mode needs to trigger other event controlled jobs. since they are updating the Database, unless those jobs trigger this job cannot run forward so try to find what kind of jobs from the user who scheduled the job and then take the action if the jobs are related to support packages and releasing of change request then try to schedule RDD* jobs under user DDIC in 000 client
this is not due to instance consistency

80meg Upgrade Delayed due to insufficient bandwidt...

Does anybody know what it means to be told that your 80meg upgrade has been delayed for a week because there isn't enough bandwidth for the line?
Does it mean there isn't enough bandwidth to the cabinet or the exchange? Is it really likely that such a problem can be resolved in a week?

Delivery is delayed due to schedule line logic

Hi Experts,
I have encounter an issue with schedule line/ availability check logic.
We have a sale order# 17111730
Line item# 10
Material# C540H1MG (ordered quantity: 1)
Order was created on 06/24/2014 and on that very date C540H1MG is available on that plant 1001 (more than 1000 quantity were available) but we have seen that delivery was created on next day although there is delivery creation batch job running every 10 mints interval and no problem found in that batch job.
As per our observation, it is found that :
There 3 schedule line were created for the same . For first schedule line delivery date is 06/25/2014 and for second one 06/27/2014 and third one 06/30/2014
But when we select the individual schedule line and go to shipping tab, it has been seen that schedule line# got switched.
Schedule line# 2 has the MAD date as 06/25/2014 and delivery created on that date (but usually schedule line # should be 3 as it was created latest of all and deliver date was 06/30/2014)
Schedule line# 3 has the MAD date as 06/24/2014 (but usually line # should be 2 as it was created earlier than schedule line# 3 and deliver date was 06/27/2014)
Now my question is that once schedule line# 2 was confirmed then why another schedule line was generated through rescheduling batch job with a new MAD date and delayed the delivery and next question is why that schedule line# is getting switched?
FYI:
1.Changes done in schedule line was done by rescheduling batch job
2. Recently a config change was done in availability check (T.CODE OVZJ) we make availability check rule as "E"

I don't think it is with the receiving server because almost 20% of our outbound email is experiencing this issue, and none of the recipients are seeing issues on their end from other senders.
I had already reviewed those two articles but wasn't able to resolve the issue.
One thing that worked on some of the domains was enabling "Use the External DNS Lookup settings on the transport server". It resolved some of the queued emails but they are being delayed again
today.
There is no gateway server. Can you elaborate on what you mean by "mail routing configured" - is there a specific setting you want to know about?

Hi Subash,
Firstly your question sis vrey generic. It depends that it is taking time in creating Index on DSO or InfoCube.
InfoCubes are more prone to Index creation issue than DSO, due to high number of uncompressed requests. However this also depnds on the database due to archicture:
ORACLE:
With Oracle database, If you have a cube with 1000 uncompressed requests and 10 dimensions (every dimension brings with it a local bitmap index) you have 1000 partitions for the table itself and 10 x 1000 index partitions which makes a total of 11.000 database objects. This amount of objects hurts most when updating statistics or dropping/recreating secondary indexes. In situations with a high load frequency you will most certainly run into problems in this area sooner or later.
If you do a statistics update, all these 11.000 objects will receive new statistics which will take some time and may raise locking problems during execution or at least a serialization when changing the statistics fields in the database catalog tables.
If you drop/recreate secondary indexes, all these objects must be removed or created in the database catalog which also is a serial operation and may again rise locking situations and/or long runtimes. Additionally there is lots of DB cost for returning the allocated disk space.
You will not experience trouble from this direction in the beginning, when the number of partitions is low. But you will run into problems randomly at first, when the number of partitions increase, and permanently, after the number of partitions have exceeded some (not specifiable, system and context dependent) threshold.
SQL Server:
With SQL Server 2005 onwards, there is limitation of 1000 partitions for a table. And each loaded uncompressed request in InfoCube is a partition in SQL Server. In BW System, each uncompressed requests are loaded in one partition and once 1000 partition limit has been reached in a SQL Server database, it will continue writing each new request to the 1000th partition and will write an error to the system log (SQL Error 7719). This is done only to avoid a hard failure when loading data, it is not the recommended business process that one should keep loading requests to the last partition. Continuing to load to the 1000th partition could cause a performance problem later when trying to delete requests and creating indexes and updating statistics of the InfoCube.
How to check number of partitions on the SQL server database:
Execute report RSDD_MSSQL_CUBEANALYZE
- Menu Settings => Expert mode
- Press the Details button
- Choose the number of minimum partitions (choose let say 500)
- Press the button Start Checks
This will display all the tables with more than 500 partitions in the database.
So, to avoid this index creation issue for InfoCubes, it is suggested that one should keep the less number of uncomressed requests in the InfoCube. Compress the InfoCube with the latest request whereever possible.

transfer of photos from computer to ipad will have a delay depending on the size of the files involved. most digital cameras take a picture, these days, sizing at about 5 to 6 meg at full res.....if your going to copy alot of pictures at once or sync alot then transferring them will cause a slight pause as the systems involved figure out how much data to move and where to move it to.
the faster your pc then the quicker this process will be and less of a pause you will notice.
