For the update to run Aperture must be installed in the system Application folder and named simply Aperture, not Aperture3.2.2 or anything else.
I don't know if this would also affect photo stream but if your Aperture is misnamed or installed in an incorrect location fixing that to see if it clears up the problem would be a good first step.

  • Is there a maximum size for a Preference created via scripting?

    Hello
I've developed a script that saves some information to Preferences file when closing AE. A user had this error:
"Unable to execute script at line 1. After Effects error: Preference [Settings_colorLibrary] 'saved_library' is 2732 bytes, max allowed is 1999 bytes."
Some testing has confirmed this error, as info written to Preferences gets bigger. My question is: Is there a limit to the information I can write to Preferences file? Error message said 2 KB, which is quite low. I had the same problem using bith Mac and Win.
    Thanks.

Well I guess the error message is pretty self-explanatory: I think I remember that during the CS7 beta they said they had changed the way preferences work which makes sense given the fact that CC can now import preferences for another account.
Given this post I guess the issue is in CC only: http://aescripts.com/forums/discussion/comment/2120#Comment_2120
So I guess you'll have to maybe simply split the data into several preferences items: you could save the swatches by batches of 20 and loop through the preferences items to load them all.

  • B9180 Win 8 Print Prefs - no "Custom" paper size option

After moving to Windows 8, and loading the current driver, When I go to Print Preferences > Paper size options the dropdown box does not show "Custom".  Current paper suzesare listed, with "More" below the line.  Under XP, "Custom" was below the line and "More" was above the line.  So the way it sits, there is now way to add a custom paper size.  Am I missing soething?

  • Is it possible to Default "Choose page source by PDF page size" option in the "Print" dialog box?

I have an SSRS report that is rendered as a PDF file; the report has many columns and utilizes 11inx17in (Landscape) paper. However, once the report is rendered and users try to print the report they have to manually select the 'Choose Paper source by PDF page size' option in order to get the report to print on the correct paper (otherwise it defaults to standard letter size - landscape orientation).
I'm aware of 'Print Presets' functionality; however, I don't believe they apply to this scenario. Is there a config file/registry setting/anything that can be specified to automatically set the 'Choose paper source by PDF page size' print setting = On/True/Checked?
Any help would be greatly appreciated...

  • How to allow domain users to customize  Adobe PDF  printer page size in Printer Preferences

    Hi
I am able to customize  Adobe PDF  printer page size in Printer Preferences in admin login but not able to customize  Adobe PDF  printer page size in domian users login...
can I have a solution to customize  Adobe PDF  printer page size in domin user login

WOW! I was amazed to see that within minutes of posting my initial thread, I tried something that works.
Apparently, the only way is will actually convert is if you select the regular Print option in the File tab. Then, change the Printer to Adobe PDF & the Paper Size to 11x17. It also worked for 36"x48" becuase I created a custom size named "Poster", so I changed the paper size to Poster & it worked!
I hope this helps someone. I searched for an existing forum on this issue off & on for MONTHS before creating this thread. If anyone has any suggestions why the Adobe PDF tab /PDF Maker wouldn't work, I'd like to know.

  • There is no "performance" tab in Preferences

I just watched the new YT video about "hidden gems in lightroom CC" I am keen to try these new features, so I updated to v5.7.1 and I can't see these improvements. There is no "auto" in Catalog Settings\Standard preview size and there is no "performance" tab in Preferences. I'm in Australia, are we getting a different version? Can anyone help?

Hmm - I have this problem too.
    I'm confused.
I have Photoshop/Lightroom - what I thought was CC - I pay monthly - my understanding is that I get the latest Lightroom and upgrades when they are available. The about in Lightroom has only ever describe it as Lightroom 5.x... Never Lightroom CC. Photoshop is described as Photoshop CC.
Today I was offered an upgrade - Pano/HDR/Performance improvements etc. So I upgraded. It upgraded but is showing Lightroom 5.7 - not 6 not CC. Pano/HDR etc are all there.
So what am I missing? What do I have to do to get version CC/6? I have tried to find where to upgrade to CC/6 on the Adobe web site - but I can't find it.
What is it that I'm not understanding?
I'm running Windows 7 64bit, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 with latest drive from Nvidia site.

  • My issue started as ACR grayed out in Bridge using PS CC. No option in preference to open in Camera Raw.

My issue started as ACR grayed out in Bridge using PS CC. No option in preferences to open in Camera Raw. After browsing this forum I downloaded the most recent ACR and installed. Now Bridge stalls on the "building crieria" screen. There is a message to purge the cache but that screen stalls as well. I have force quite multiple times and re-started. Any suggestions?

As far as i know, photoshop cs2 and adobe bridge 1 (cs2) could not open jpegs or tiffs into camera raw, only camera raw files.
I believe photoshop cs3 was the first version to allow jpegs to be opened in camera raw.
Are you sure you had photoshop cs2 before?
If on the other hand, you can't open camera raw files that you used to be able to open, then you probably just need to update the camera raw plugin to version 3.7
    windows
Adobe - Photoshop : For Windows : Camera Raw 3.7 update

  • Is there a file size limitation to using this service?

I am working on a large PDF file (26 mb) and I need to re-size the original and mess with the margins. I don't beleive there is an easy way to do this in Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Pro. It sounds like I have to convert the file back to a Word document, do the adjustments there and then produce a new PDF. I have two questions:
Is there a file size limitation to using this service?
Will a PDF to Word doc. conversion mantain the format of the orginal PDF?
    Thanks
    Tim

    Good day Tim,
There is a 100MB file size limitation for submitting files to the ExportPDF service.  As for the quality of the conversion, from our FAQ entitled Will Adobe ExportPDF convert both text and formatting information?:
Adobe ExportPDF is capable of exporting high quality information, but the quality of your Word or Excel document depends on the quality of the PDF file you start with. For instance, if your PDF file was originally authored in Microsoft Word or Excel and converted to PDF using the PDFMaker functionality of Adobe Acrobat®, your PDF file contains a rich set of information that can be captured by Adobe ExportPDF. This includes relative positioning of tables, images, and even multi-column text, as well as page, paragraph, and font attributes.
If your PDF file was originally authored using simpler PDF generation methods, such as “print to PDF” or “scan to PDF” options, Adobe ExportPDF will convert any recognizable text and then use sophisticated conversion intelligence to preserve as much of the page layout as possible.
Please let us know if you have any other questions!
    Kind regards,
    David

  • Is there a maximum size for Keynote files

I want to make sure my Keynote files are functioning well.  Is there a maximum size, under which they function best?  (either a number of slides, or MB/memory).
I've created the Keynote files on my iPad2, then uploaded them to my iMac desktop, used the "Reduce File Size" option on desktop Keynote, saved, then downloaded onto my iPhone4, and I'm "projecting" the files onto an Apple TV 2.
    Thanks!

There's a mathematical limit due to the architecture of PDF object references but it's way beyond anything you could create in practice. Because the Acrobat Family are 32-bit applications you'll find there are performance issues if the file count gets too high - exactly when that becomes a problem depends on both the files and the hardware opening them, but given an XLSX file isn't displayed within the Portfolio (other than as an icon) it'll be less of an issue then if the files were PDFs, videos, etc.

  • Is there a maximum size to the Glossary?

Under the gun here. My customer loves the Glossary
and wants to put a Data Dictionary there (htm file size of abotu
400 kb). Does anyone know if RH blows up with a large Glossary? Or,
    are there size limits?

    Kate,
The overall volume of the Glossary should not present a
problem. Depending on how you generate WebHelp (optimized for Web,
or for a network), RH breaks definitions into a few or several
files to load on the fly. For the user, a long Glossary seems to
load just as fast as a small one.
Here's some more advice, FWIW, since you didn't ask for it.
    The Glossary has two parts:
--The master list displays in the navigation pane for
browsing and searching. The definition for a highlighted term
    appears at the bottom.
-- RH lets you run topics against the master list and insert
a definition as expanding text. The text for the definition is
repeated in the topic, so the browser doesn't have to go look it up
somewhere else. (A downside: revising the Glossary doesn't
    automatically update definitions in topics.)
If your definitions run more than a sentence, I'd recommend
against using the RH Glossary. Rather, put all of it in one A-to-Z
Glossary topic (or break it into two or more topics). Among the
    options:
--Include all terms and definitions in the Glossary topic to
allow scrolling and reading without links.
--List terms only and link each to its definition in
expanding text or dropdown text. Scanning the list is faster, but
the user has to click to see the definition.
    --Put definitions into text-only popups.
--Put a multi-paragraph definition into a separate topic and
link the term to an auto-sizing popup. (You can link to these
    popups from other topics, too.)
Again, a long defiinition shouldn't be in a dropdown or
expanding text (in my opinion, anyway. How much is too long is a
    judgment call.)
If everything is one place, you could insert bookmarks and
provide links from one definition to another, in case the user
needs the extra background to understand it. And updating is easier
if you haven't inserted Glossary definitions in other topics.
Another factor is how much time you want to put into it.
Obviously, expanding text, dropdowns and popups take more time to
    do than a term-definition, term-definition format.
So if you don't intend to put Glossary text links in topics,
or you expect not much revision in later releases, and the
individual definitions aren't long, the RH Glossary is an excellent
way to present a lot of material. And RH automatically sorts it
    alphabetically.

  • HT204150 will merging contacts from a macbook air with iCloud duplicate my contacts?  There is no sync option given, only 'merge'!

will merging contacts from a macbook air with iCloud duplicate my contacts?  There is no sync option given when I select contacts in my iCloud preferences screen, only 'merge'!  Before I do it I'd like to know if I'll create a ton of duplicates.  If yes, then how do you link contacts from your macbook with icloud?  Thanks

If the same contacts exist in iCloud and on your MBA then there will clearly be duplicates. Export the contacts from the MBA, (On My Mac account) and then delete the content of the On My Mac account, then join iCloud on the MBA.

  • Snow Leopard, iPhoto, Mail - loss of image size option when mailing photos

I just installed Snow Leopard on both my laptop and my desktop. Now I have lost one of the size options when I email images directly from iPhoto. This is a big problem for me, as I have the need to send photos out to colleagues for their review several times per week. Before the new OS, I could choose (from within iPhoto or from within Mail) from these options: small, medium, large, and full-size. "Large" was the choice that almost always worked best for me. Now an image is medium-sized no matter whether you choose medium or large. Small and full-size still work.
If I add images to a mail using the photo browser in Mail (which is less convenient for me anyway), then I lose the titles and descriptions I have added to those images in iPhoto. Not good.
Is there a setting I can change, or is this a bug, or what?
    Help.
    Marion

    Ernie,
It's not the the image size buttons are not available. They are. It's that they don't work correctly. From within iPhoto: choosing "small" gives me a small image; choosing "medium" gives me a medium image; choosing "large" also gives me a medium image; choosing "full" gives me a full-size image. So, there are four buttons, but only three sizes. I need large, and it's the one that's not working.
I am currently experimenting with your export-attach suggestion, and the results are very messy indeed as well as inconsistent. If I export an image as .jpeg and as full-size, and then attach them to a mail, the first problem is that I lose all the titles and descriptions, even though I have chosen to export them. In the past, all the images lined up neatly in the body of the message with titles underneath each one; now the images are all "stuck together" and you must mouse over to get the title info. Thus you can see this info for only one image at a time - inconvenient for my colleagues.
The second problem is that, the size option buttons work for some images and not for others. I tried attaching three files of different sizes: 2.7MB, 5.2MB, and 6.2MB. All four size buttons work for the two larger files, but, once again "medium" and "large" choices both result in the same size image, "medium."
Even if the export-attach option worked correctly, it would involve many more steps and much more time than my former method of sending direct from iPhoto.
I have not upgraded to iLife9. Perhaps the problem has been corrected in it. I was holding out for iLife10, but might go ahead with 9 if I could be assured it would work. This is really a huge problem for me.
    Thanks,
    Marion
