Not that many!
But many of us here are in the UK, so fire away with your problem!
However, to answer your question, there is one UK forum for Mac users which can be very helpful, although it does have anough members to provide the breadth of experience you will find on the Apple Support Forums:

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You can install the new hard disk yourself if you want to. You just need a 2'5" SATA II hard drive, which is compatible with your MacBook Pro. You can buy one at OWC > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/hard-drives/2.5-Notebook/ You can filter hard drives by computer, so press a "Click to view all...", choose your computer in the sidebar and it will give you the compatible hard drives.
There are different brands for the MacBook Pro. The most recommended are HGST and Seagate, which have good reputation. A 7200 rpm hard drive will give you extra performance

  • TS1398 Unable to connect to my home Wi-Fi with my iPad. I have tried just about everything I could find in the Apple Support Community. Perhaps this is a new known problem??

I have tried all the recommend solutions I could find in the Apple Support Community.  I noticed a couple of weeks ago the iPad was acting funny about connecting to the internet via the Wi-Fi.  The past two days, it wasn't able to connect to the wireless router at all.  It recognizes that the wireless router network exists, it just can't join.  I tried the re-boot method. I have re-set the network setting on the iPad back to factory.  I even thought my old wireless router may have issues and bought a new one yesterday, and the iPad actually worked for about 24 hours and now I am back to the iPad not being able to connect to the wireless router.  I have re-entered the wireless router from scratch thinking that there may have been a bug in the setup.  I have removed the security settings from the wireless router to see if that may have prevented the iPad from connecting but got the same message "Unable to Join". I have cleared the cookies and data, as that was also a recommended fix, but that didn't work.  I also connected the iPad to the computer so that I could check for the latest update.  iPad has the latest version, so that solution didn't work.  Does anyone out there got any other ideas, or are you experiencing the same problem?  Is there some known issue that I am not aware of???

Look at iOS Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections  http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
iPad: Issues connecting to Wi-Fi networks  http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3304
iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4199
    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • Does anyone know how to delete an Apple Support Community account/profile?

    Hey Guys,
Thanks for taking the time to take a look at this post!
I need to delete my apple support community account because I have responded to some questions and asked a few myself in the past and now even though I have fully removed myself from those posts and changed my e-mail preferences so that those preferences are set to not receiving any more emails, I am still receiving emails!!!!
So i just want to delete my account now..
    Many thanks in advance!!

There is no way for you to delete the account. I suppose in dire circumstances a host could do it but it doesn't happen often.
If the only reason you want to delete the account is because of the email you are getting from here, it can be stopped. SeeHighly annoyed here. for the way to stop them.

  • Safari version does not support community tool bar

Each time I open Safari 5.1.7 I get message "your browser version does not support community tool bar" does this mean I need to update safari?

That toolbar/ct plugin seems to cause problems for all who install it!
If you are running Tiger or Leopard:
Close Safari, then locate and delete the following files and it should be gone:
    /Library/Application Support/Conduit
    /Library/InputManagers/CTLoader
    /Library/Receipts/ctloader.pkg
    /Library/Receipts/<Toolbar name>.pkg
    /Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins/CT2285220.bundle
    /Users/<User name>/Library/Application Support/Conduit
where / is the root library on your Hard Disk.
If you are running Snow Leopard you should also look here:
    Library/launchAgents/com.conduit.loader.agent.plist
    Library/Application support/conduit plugins
    Also, as mentioned by Gilli2000:
Library/Receipts - If you read it, it has information in it at the bottom referring extensively to "CT" and "community toolbar".
Maybe it is harmless, but trash those items anyway!
    If you are running Lion:
From the Finder Menu bar, select Go ▹ Go to Folder, and in the box that opens write:
    ~/Library/Application Support/Conduit
Delete the second item if it is there.
Now select Go to Folder again and enter  /Library
From the folder that opens, delete the following items if they are there (you may need your login password):
    Application Support/Conduit
    InputManagers/CTLoader
    LaunchAgents/com.conduit.loader.agent.plist
    ScriptingAdditions/ct_scripting.osax
then close the folder. Now select Go to Folder again and write: /Applications/Toolbars
Delete that item and close the Finder windows you opened. Log out then log back in, and you should be rid of it.
Note: Safari does not support any third-party toolbars except those supplied as an extension to Safari via the Extension Gallery.

  • I can't access to the Support Community

Hi there, when I try to enter to the Support Community from my iDevices or in a different Computer I can't (I only have access from my MacBook Pro), when I use my Apple ID the Support Community request me a user name ... But I have one !!!
What I can do to solve that ?

    HI,
I have several Apple IDs (mostly @Mac.com names created to test iChat)
In Lion, In System Preferences > Mail, Contacts and Calendars these tend to get listed as MobileMe accounts even when they are not.
They can also appear this way in the Keychain (See KeyChain Access in Applications/Utilities)
My Browser has my Apple ID stored so when I sign in it is pre-filled.
I would guess that on your MacBook Pro you have the same.
From there I would ask what name does the sign in page show you is the name of your Apple ID and is this what you are using elsewhere ?
The most likely is s small typo or something similar to the suggestion I posed above where you might think a name end @me.com when in fact it is @mac.com

  • WHY IS THERE NO DIRECT SUPPORT FROM APPLE

It is so hard to know if the support from the Apple support community is legit when one is not tech savvy we have members calling each other names, lingo that I don't undertsand and the last time I tried some advice I buggered up my whole system!!
My issues with search for emails on me.com or it simply cant be done ... I don't see why its so hard. I joined mobile me as internet had issues in China for gmail.
Now its a nightmare and Apple is doing nothing about it. I don't even know who to ask about getting out of icloud mail or reroute all me emails back to gmail now that I have a VPN.
I looked at the related forums and there is never a clear cut answer helllllpppp!!

If you want support from Apple you need to contact them by phone or visit a store.
If you are still under warranty, that would be the best thing to do anyway.
There are no Apple techs here on these forums. Apart from the hosts who manage the site, all the people posting here are volunteers; users, the same as you.
The quality of the advice varies, and considering it costs nothing, I'd argue it is good value, but one should be prudent and not believe everything that is said, though you could also apply the same to life in general.
This site is more extensive than many realize and finding the right place to post your problem can help enormously, as people tend to hang in the forums that they know most about.
Here is a link to the site map to explore.

Remember you can always contact an Apple store for professional help.

How do I change my Apple Support Community email

Thank you again for your time, But I run an applet with that if it does not have Java how it is possible to run?
although I will test those links tomorrow, I wish JWS works after that.
    I have one more question:
I installed Java 7 on OS x 10.7.3 and 10.7.5 at first, then I tried to run my JWS applications (which use JOGL1 ) but they showed only blank white pages then I did the steps of the link:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5559?viewlocale=sv_SE
after that they warned that there is no JRE , I installed Java7 again and they work, But I did not get the reason?why it did not work at first?!?!?

  • Improve support community

Is there a way to reach Apples programmers in any way with suggestions. Seems to me Apple Support Community is a playground for customers to exchange.
Just wondering why they don't implement a few indicator buttons for extra feedback to them which topic effacts more user.
There are two possible ways they perhaps doing this. One would be of a form of ranking. Which post been comment how often. --> This seems to educate a "me having this problem too" community posting behaviour. Instead of driving the community members to get in a short form to the point. Describe the trouble they have in a more general way to make it possible for other members to join with a "yes, been looking for this and it effects me in the same way" button instead of posting long comments and loosing focus on the first problem. But perhaps i'm wrong here and it's more a discussion about the sense of making this a forum. Perhaps someone have any better suggestions where i could post this to reach people who are aware of what i having in sense.
Please don't understand me wrong. Don't won't only critizise and run away. Instead i believe in a cooperative form of finding solutions and this was my current thought. About exchanging knowledge we have and troubles other face to. Thanks.
The second possibility is they receive enough crash log reports from users and get out of that a good enough feeling where are the most trouble with the new configurations. Does anybody have perhaps an idea how it works in Cupertino and how are the numbers relating of people let them see their crash reports.
Must say i'm trust Apple till now very much but my crashlogs are not set on by default.

First, these forums are user to user; Apple generally does not monitor or get involved except for the hosts who make sure that everything runs smoothly. Second, the software used is not Apple's - they use a commercial software and are therefore limited in what they can do. Third, have you read the ToU which you agreed to when you established an account? Here is a small excerpt:
    Submissions
Stay on topic. Apple Support Communities is here to help people use Apple products and technologies more effectively. Unless otherwise noted, do not add Submissions about nontechnical topics, including:
Speculations or rumors about unannounced products.
Discussions of Apple policies or procedures or speculation on Apple decisions.
Be polite. Everyone should feel comfortable reading Submissions and participating in discussions. Apple will not tolerate flames or other inappropriate statements, material, or links. Most often, a "flame" is simply a statement that is taunting and thus arbitrarily inflammatory. However, this also includes those which are libelous, defamatory, indecent, harmful, harassing, intimidating, threatening, hateful, objectionable, discriminatory, abusive, vulgar, obscene, pornographic, sexually explicit, or offensive in a sexual, racial, cultural, or ethnic context.
Post constructive comments and questions. Unless otherwise noted, your Submission should either be a technical support question or a technical support answer. Constructive feedback about product features is welcome as well. If your Submission contains the phrase "I'm sorry for the rant, but…" you are likely in violation of this policy.
Do not post polls or petitions or links to same.
Test your answer. When possible, make sure your Submission works on your own computer before you post it.
Here is the link to the complete ToU:
    https://discussions.apple.com/static/apple/tutorial/tou.html
It boils down to this: you have a problem and ask for help. While others are trying to help, people post with "I have the same problem" and the cause of theirs may or may not be unrelated, so, in effect, they are threadjacking: the thread becomes confusing and you may not get the attention you deserve. Therefore, it is encouraged that everyone starts their own topic with their own problem.
And, if you want Apple to see a crash report, Apple won't see it if you post it here. You can register and file a bug report here:
    https://developer.apple.com/programs/register/
or, for more general ideas, provide feedback here:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/

  • This entire Apple Support Community feedback is not user friendly or meant for us oldies.

    Hi
Thanks for the 2 replies from different people.  It's taken me 2 hours to try and find a way to respond to my 2 emailers...to NO avail.  I've tried so much that I can't even remember what I've done or where I've been to repeat the action.  Apple Support Community is too complicated for this old man to find/use or answer back on.  I'll be leaving Apple/itunes for good, and if I loose my purchased and/or personal library of 9,000 songs so be it.  Time to go android.  Perhaps it's easier to navigate than this mess.  This isn't user friendly at all, and doesn't answer very much because I can't answer back with parts of my dilemma I just do NOT understand.  I've tried in my 2nd message to the community to be concise and exact on my issue to no real avail.  It's NOT only my desire to go back to version 9...but the icloud debacle, and the genius issue as well.  AAARGH!!!
But a huge thank you to my responders.  I'm afraid to use that last bit of help because I have questions upon questions.  That sounds like a band-aid rather than a true fix.  And personally I do NOT find version 11 the same as previous versions.  I really don't want it.  I want what I was comfortable and familiar with for the last 5-6 years...not this mess.
Best wishes everyone and audios and a huge THANK YOU.

and find a way to respond to my 2 emailers...to NO avail
You don't respond to emailers because no one is emailing you. (looks like I am one of them).
Apple Support Community (ASC) is emailing you because you subscribed to your topic post.
When someone rersponds to your post in ASC, ASC will send you an email informing you there was a response to the topic you posted here.
You then go to that post and review it and respond if you wish.
To turn off emails from ASC, see this -> https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3661
I'll be leaving Apple/itunes for good,
Really? Just because you got an email?
This isn't user friendly at all, and doesn't answer very much because I can't answer back with parts of my dilemma I just do NOT understand.
You seem to be doing fine here -> https://discussions.apple.com/message/24556207#24556207
then you abandoned your first topic and posted again here -> https://discussions.apple.com/message/24557775#24557775

  • I get an error message when trying to sign into the support community with another Apple id. On the pick a username screen I get "an account utilizing this address already exists...." despite trying a few usernames. Anyone know how I can resolve this?

I get an error message when trying to sign into the support community with another Apple id. On the <pick a username> screen I get "an account utilizing this address already exists.Only one account per email address is allowed on the Apple Support Communities" despite trying a few usernames. Anyone know how I can resolve this?

This problem has been driving me demented. The instructions that Ivan gives have partially worked for me. By following his link
"How to find out if you have multiple Apple IDs" I was able to identify that yes I did have two apple accounts using the same e mail address. One was very old that I used to use for the forum boards and one is my much more recent ID that I use for everything these days. So I changed the e mail address for the old account which is associated with these discussion boards and that's the account that I am now posting this from. However even though the two accounts now have different e mail addresses when I try to log onto the boards with my more recent main apple ID I still get all the same errors as described at the start of this thread by rodgers_j. And of course that's the one I want to use so that I only have one itunes account for everything.
So if anyone has any more hints I'd be very grateful.

  • Bootcamp - Seems there is no Support for Windows 8.1 once it is loaded. Just got off the Microsoft Help line and they refused to help me because I was running Win 8.1 in Bootcamp. Where do I go for help?

Bootcamp - Seems there is no Support from Microsoft  for Windows 8.1, once it is loaded.
I Just got off the Microsoft Technical Help line (Australia ph132058) and they refused to help me because I am running Win 8.1 in Bootcamp.
I have the latest Mac Book Pro Retina with a 1TB Solid State Hard drive running Win 8.1, beautiful machine, but its slower than my old MBP running windows 7 on a standard Drive.
The niggiling problem is that it seems to hang up for seven or 8 seconds on menial tasks........ like generating a new Folder or Note etc. Otherwise it runs reasonably well but not blindingly fast....
I wasn't aware Microsoft refused to help win 8.1 users on the Mac Platform........ shouldn't this Information be made more public...! Seems they are keen to drive potential Windows users away!!
Any suggestions on where I should go for help on this (Windows/Bootcamp in General) would be much appreciated ? ........ don't mind paying a reasonable price if the service is good......
I guess the wheel has turned and Microsoft are having a go at Apple again...?
    Many thanks ....... Martin V

    Thanks Turbostar.
I was thinking along the same lines. I installed Win 8.0 Pro and upgraded to 8.1 ........ probably a bad move.
I have bought a new 8.1 Licence but cant risk doing a complete reinstall until I have a back up machine ready. (My old MBP is getting a new hard drive) ......... so will give that a go in about a weeks time when the back up is in place. Cant risk having nothing!
When you say "Clean Install" ..... do you mean everything ..... as in Reformat the Bootcamp sector and start from scratch.?
I have a 2 TB LaCie Thunderbolt drive with my back up data on ..... is there a way to make the Reinstall process and large amount of Data transfer easy?
The reinstall is something I need to read up on. I was hoping the solution might be some kind of Tune up on the SSHD.
Good to hear you have a number of MBP's that are flying, I would be disappointed if the final quality wasnt a bit better.
..... do you have any tips on screen Res on the Retina ..... I am running Windows at 125% Zoom, but the Bluetooth, power, wireless, Date Icons etc are all still tiny ...... could really do with an alternative to the old "Advanced Appearance Settings"
    cheers ..... Martin V

  • There is a problem communicating with the printer.

I have a Lexmark Interpret S405. I am using a MBP laptop with WiFi, running 10.5.8. I have a cabled (non-wifi) Linsys router. I am using an Airport Express.
I was finally able to get the WiFi light on the Lexmark to be static green after reinstalling the Lexmark WiFi setup and reconfiguring my Airport settings so that both the computer and printer see each other.
In fact, I even updated the driver from Lexmark's Web site last night and I watched the WiFi light on the printer blink green indicating that the installation of the driver update was being communicated to the printer.
However, when I print, it opens the print window and says first "Looking for S300-S400", then it says "Printer is now online". Then after about 10 seconds, I get this error: "There is a problem communicating with the printer. Make sure the printer is powered on and connected to the computer. Delete or hold the job and try again."
I've exhausted Lexmark's technical databases and couldn't find the answer here.
I've read that one possible solution was to delete all the printers from the "Print & Fax" system preferences window and re-add. That didn't work.
Lexmark says for: The printer communicating on a network; however, the printer is not responsive. Possible causes could be:
    1. Your printer is associated with a network, router, or access point, but it is not your network.
    2. A software process is blocked by a system security firewall preventing network communication.
    3. You are logged into Virtual Private Network (VPN).
    4. You are connected to a network but have decided to switch to a USB connection.
I don't have a VPN and have removed the USB cable, then restarted both printer and computer, and deleted printers in Sys Prefs, restarted, and still no solution.
I can print directly via USB cable, but want to print wirelessly.
Lexmark also says to enter my PIN (which I have pulled out from the print menu screen on the printer) in the System. That tells me a lot...
Network settings on the print window on the printer also tell me Signal strength is 5 (excellent) and that I am on the network my airport is on.
    Message was edited by: Macman17

I bet this is too late but...
Are you trying to print through the airport express wirelessly or the built in wireless of the lexmark? If you want to use the airport express, there is no need to mess with the wireless printing on the lexmark at all. The airport express will be easy to set up, all the wireless setups through the printers are a pain.

  • How do I delete my old support community discussions?

Kind of a silly/dumb question, but how do I delete some of the old Apple Support Community questions/discussions I no longer want in my support community profile?
    Thanks!

Go into my discussion about deleting Apple discussions, I have had a few good replys from people who know alot more about this than me XD Atleast you are getting rid of your discussions for a valid reason, however for me I wanted to delete mine because I rant alot and I feel like a complete idiot posting some of my questions up. You can see why if you look at my discussions :P
