Is there a way to restrict access to who can change the TVARVC table?

Hi experts,
We have a requirement where we need to restrict access to who can maintain the variables in tvarv table.
How do we go about it?

Hi,
We had kind of a same scenario. We have table where we enter the Average Item values week wise. We wanted to restrict change and delete access to users for the entries which has already been saved. For this purpose we had created an ABAP program in the "Table Maintenace Generator".  The basic idea about this program is when you create an entry in the table or delete it, a specific event generates. We check the event id whether its "delete" or "change" on the click of save button. If it is Delete or Change, then an error message will be generated saying "You dont have authorization for deleteing or changing the data".
You can try this approach.

  • Office 2013 - Is there a way to when installing that you can change the default save location without having to configure it within the client?

So, What I am trying to do is deploy Office 2013 throughout our company, and I do not want the users to save their business or personal files created within Office 2013 on the C: drive or Sky Drive. We have what is called the U: drive and I'd like to know
if there's a quick registry tweak that I can use to not only change the default location upon setting up a computer, but to deploy through Group Policy?
One other question perhaps; Is there a way to change not only the file location to default to only the one place, but also is there a way to also set a specific size limit to folders and prevent certain files from being saved (videos and personal pictures).
I have our network pretty tight as to what or who can go where, and what not, I am just really for an answer or some help to the default location...anything you have GREATLY APPRECIATED!

You can use the OCT and/or domain Group Policy, to customise the Office experience and settings for your users:

I need to restrict access to Settings on an iPad so settings like VoiceOver cannot be activated while letting them access multiple apps on the device. Is their any way to restrict access to settings without locking the device with a PIN?
This is so our guests cannot tamper or disable the device. We are already using Apple Configurator but their does not seem to be a way to lock down settings without a PIN.

There's a lot of restrictions information in Chapter 19 of the 4.2 User Guide.

By the way, a more extensive version of the User Manual is available at no charge through iBooks.

  • Is there a way to restrict access to medical content ?

    Hi
I am planning to buy an iPad with cellular connectivity to my grandma to to allow her to discover the Internet with an easy to use tool.
My problem is, she has health anxiety and I don't want her to visit medical websites or forums (which could lead to catastrophic situations).
What is the best way to restrain access to such websites with the iPad ? Do anyone has this kind of experience with iPads ?
Thank you in advance for your help.

I don't believe that there is a solution directly on the ipad, but you may choose a route similar to what companies do when wishing to restrict content, and thatv is to put a firewall in place and set webiste filtering to restrict sites that use certain keywords, normally this is done for pornographic or adult sites, but could be modified for your purpose, You would need to enlist the services of an IT support person who is knowledgeable about website filtering.

  • Is there a way of restricting access to columns in a BI BEANS report?

    Hi,
I was wondering if there is a way to retrict access to a column in a BI BEANS crosstab report. The scenario is, if a particular user has the priviledges to see the profit column in a crosstab, but another user doesn't is there any way to stop the less restricted user from seeing this column using the same BI BEANS report?
This is really the alternative to having 2 reports, 1 with the profit column and 1 without, and depending on what user is logged in, it will show one or the other.
    Regards,
    Scott.

    Hi Scott,
    This is an interesting question.
If I presume you are talking about an OLAP data source where data does not reside in an Analytic Workspace, then the following is true :-
The BI Beans respects database security and therefore the user has access to a particular schema(s) and table(s) in the database.
When talking about cubes, you must remember a cube is mapped to a particular Fact table and dimensions.
Because a Measure is a constituent sub-component of a cube, unless the measures are sourced from different fact tables with different user privileges, then it would be difficult to discriminate against users and hide columns or measures.
Basically, what I am saying is:
A cube is the finest granularity at which users can be differentiated.
A cube maps to a fact table, hence this is the level at which the DB grants are applied.
Unless measures belonged to different cubes, and hence different fact tables, then it would be impossible to discriminate against users and access to different columns/measures.
What you could do however, at the BI Beans application level is :-
Before displaying a presentation object, you could filter the Query programmatically and remove components which you did not want to display i.e. measures etc.
This would require more leg work with the presentation object and filtering the embedded query, but would achieve the same effect. You would have to work out a method of validating users too and what they had access to.
I hope this answers your Question.
Should you require more information, please let us know.
    Many Thanks

  • Best way to restrict access to documents (outside of the group or library level)

Hi, we're thinking of implementing SharePoint Server 2013 Standard Edition for our organization. Many of our employees are research scientists working on proprietary information. From the (admittedly little) I understand about SharePoint, if a user wants
to restrict access to a particular document to the 2 or 3 people with whom they're collaborating (and also have it not appear in the search results), they will have to email their power user to request that a new document library be created in which they can
store their documents. Is that correct? In this case, what is the best way to handle item-level permissions? Users absolutely want to have the freedom to restrict access to their documents themselves rather than being forced to go to their power user. Thanks.

    Hi,
Per my knowledge, if you want to restrict access to the documents to some users, then you need to have Manage Permissions permission to modify other users’ permission on the documents.
If you do not have the Manage Permissions permission, I recommend to ask the site administrator to create a workflow as below to remove the corresponding users’ permission on the documents which you uploaded. You can start the workflow on the document you
upload and then the permission of the users set on the workflow will be removed from the document.
    Best regards.
    Thanks

  • Is there a way to remap Command-B so it changes the character style to my Emphasis style?

I'm building a custom template where Helvetica Neue Light is the primary body text font, but going from Helvetica Neue Light to Helvetica Neue Bold is far too large a contrast for my tastes. So in this template, I set the Emphasis character style to Helvetica Neue Medium.
I've already mapped that style to F7, but it's a pain in the butt having to hit Fn-F7 whenever I want to make text bold, rather than just using Command-B as I've been used to doing for 20+ years now. I'd like to be able to press Command-B and have my Helvetica Neue Light text turn into Helvetica Neue Medium.
Is there a way to remap Command-B so that it changes the character style on my text to Emphasis, rather than using the Bold option on the font itself? (I wasn't able to set Command-B to change character styles through the Keyboard options in OS X Preferences, since individual character styles aren't in Pages' dropdown menus.)
Or, alternatively, is there a way to change the preferences for that specific font—either in that specific template, in Pages, or systemwide—so that when Helvetica Neue Light is in use, making the text boldface uses the medium-weight version of the font rather than the heavier bold version?

No, Cmd + B is for Bold. Doen't that work for you? It doesn give the same result on my computer.

  • Is there a way to restrict who can connect/find a HP MFP attached to a router.

We have  a HP MFP connected to a local network router.  I'd like to restrict access to who can print to it.  The printer is connected via ethernet.  Anyone who has access to our network (wired or wirless) can find/connect to the printer.  We only want certain people to have access to it.  Is there a way to set up the printer to do this?

    Hi rross3,
Depending on which printer you have, this may be possible through the printer's EWS (embedded web server). To access the EWS, open a browser on your computer and type the IP address of the printer into the address field. If you can access the EWS, then check for Settings tab>Firewall Rules. If this exists, you can create a new rule to allow only certain IP's the ability to print to the printer. It would probably be best to assign static IPs to the computers you want to be able to print.
Alternately, if you have access to the network's router, it may have a similar function. You would also want to assign a static IP to the printer (as well as the computers), then allow access to only the computers you want to be able to print (following the same instructions above).

  • I am brand new to the Ipad.  I can't use ICloud unless I upgrade my 10.5 Leopard.  Is there a way to sync documents created in Pages to the IPad without using ICloud?

Hello.  I am a newbie to the Ipad.  I am currently working with an OS 10.5 Leopard MAC.  I understand that in order to use ICloud I would need to purchase OSX Snow Leopard and OSX Lion.  I am attempting to avoid the expense and to the extent possible sync my IPad with my MAC.  I have created documents on my MAC in pages.  Is there a way to have access to those documents on the IPad without using ICloud.
A second question concerns web browsing, sometimes you'll open up a page or image and not know how to go back to the previous page. So do I just close and reopen safari altogether or is there another way to get to the previous page.
Thanks for any guidance you can provide.

Actually you can use iCloud with the Mac running OS X 10.5.8. You don't sync the documents - you upload to or download them from iCloud.
You can open a browser on your Mac - Safari is preferred - log into icloud.com, enter your username and password, click on the iWorks icon, click on the Pages section at the top - and then you can drag documents into the browser window to upload files - and you can select a file in the cloud to download to the Mac. I do this on my iMac at work running Tiger 10.4.11. It's kind of slow - and you will get a warning that you may be using a supported browser - but it works.
In any event, you can use iOS file sharing to send the Pages docs to your iPad. you have to connect to the Mac and do this via iTunes.
iWork for iOS: About iTunes File Sharing
Just tap the arrows in the toolbar in Safari to go back and forth. You can open multiple pages using tabs. tap on the + sign to add another tab in Safari.

  • HT201304 Is there a way to restrict user access to find my ipad with out restricting the mail app?

I am working on setting up multiple Ipad 2 tablets with iOS 5.1.1 and I need to restrict access to turn off find my ipad. The only way I see to do this is to turn on restrictions and dont allow changes on accounts. The issue I have then is it also restricts the Mail app setup. Is there a way to restrict one and not the other? We use microsoft exchange mail and I would be willing to use another mail app if anyone can suggest one that works as an alternative?
    Thank you.

I don't know of any reliable tracking app, but perhaps someone else here can suggest one I'm not aware of. Any could be defeated by just restoring the iPad, though, so about all you could hope to do would be make things a bit more difficult to turn off. For a third-party app, you'd have to restrict the user's ability to uninstall apps, something which might be equally problematic for you.
    Regards.

  • What is the best way to restrict access to the page

    Hello Everyone,
We are trying to restrict access to the web page that is being accessed by the applet. Currently it is public so anybody can view it just by entering URL in the address window. We tried to restrict its access to only certain IP Addresses but then we need to enter every client's address out there since applets execute on the client and not on the server.
Is there any good way of restricting access to the web page from an applet?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Y.M.

Most web servers allow protection of web resources.
In particular, apache allows .htaccess (or other, if changed in the root configuration) files to change the access to various resources, and IIS allows you to set up protection domains to restrict access to folders.

  • Is there a way to control access by IP Address?

I'd like to follow up on this question using WLS 6.0/6.1.
What I need to do is block access to a set of directories to public IP
addresses. My usual approach would be to tweak the webserver
configuration to deny the requests, but I can't seem to find
documentation on how to accomplish this.
So, if approach this with a ConnectionFilter, I can look at the
ConnectionEvent's getRemoteAddress() method to determine whether the
requestor is public or trusted, but can I get enough information from
getProtocol() method to determine which directory they're requesting?
    Thanks,

The example you mentioned only applys to the whole WLS.

  • Is there a way of remote accessing 'Games and More' on a mobile?

I am new to the forum, please excuse me if I am in the wrong space!
Is there a way of remotely accessing/executing Java applications that are residing in the 'Games and More.' folder on a mobile device?
e.g. Java application is downloaded into 'Games and More' and there is a requirement to execute the program from an ODP (On-Device-Portal). The ODP is external to the 'Games and More' folder but within the same mobile device.
