Is there any way to power up the MacBook without opening the lid?

Does anybody know if there are key combinations (external keyboard) or a way to enable the Apple Remote to power up a MacBook?
I have an external display, keyboard, and mouse connected and would like to be able to startup the MacBook without opening the lid...
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Macs have not been able to startup from a USB keyboard for nearly eight years. The very first iMacs had a USB keyboard with a power button, but since this is not a standard USB function, Apple removed this ability shortly after.
As the others have mentioned, if you have an external display, keyboard and mouse, then you can wake the MacBook from sleep. Is there a reason you're shutting down at all? I haven't restarted my MacBook twice since I've had it for the last three weeks. I just close it and it sleeps when I go to work or at night.

You can remove the assembly tree by doing a roundtrip in 3D Toolkit, here's how:
- start Acrobat 3D
- drag & drop a CAD file
- click on 3D Annot to activate
- right-click on 3D
- select 'Edit in 3D Toolkit'
- 3D Toolkit launches
- click in 'Scene Tree' panel
- right-click on top assembly name
- select 'Tools->Collapse Hierarchy'
- select 'File->Save'
- select 'File->Exit'

Assistive Touch, tap Settings App > General > Accessibiltiy > Assistive Touch > ON > tap new white screen button > Device > Lock Screen. If you touch and hold Lock Screen you will get the "slide to power off". This will turn OFF iphone. To turn iPhone ON, connect with USB cable to power, charger or USB of computer.

Is there any way to delete calendars by years without deleting the entire calendar?

I have too many years in my iCal application. Is there any way I can have it just show the past 5 years? Or can I delete years before 2008, for example? I have made a backup of my iCal file so I'm ready for that great solution from the community!
I see other posts in the community about deleting data but they are from 2005 and 2007 and don't apply to Lion OS and this newest version of iCal - or at least I can't find the features they're referring to to help delete old data.

In iCal's calendar list make sure only the calendars you want to delete from are checked.
In iCal's search field put a single quote ('). The search result showing all events will appear.
Make sure the search results are sorted by date.
Click the first event you want deleted.
Scroll down and Shift-Click the last one.
Press the delete button.
I don't know whty the single quote is needed oin the search.

My ipod has been stolen at my high school for over six months. Long story short, i retrieved it and it turns out that my ipod is being disabled for 22,135,578 more minutes. I checked the apple forums and i saw how you could reactivate you passcode but unfortunately my ipod power button is broken. also im not even sure what ios is running on and well imma get my screen fixed because its cracked

at home, i dont remember the ios, but im certain its ios 5.0.1, im using my mac computer
also the file for Recboot v1.3 say that it has been removed and the Recbook v2.2 the webpage isnt found, i think Recbook only works on ios 4 devices only.

If you have a unibody model, it's probably possible, but it would be costly to replace the keyboard.
There are flexible LED lights you can get that plug into the USB port. They don't take much power and shine on your keys.

The serial number will do nothing to help you find it.
If you failed to set up find my ipod, then there is no way to track it.

Any machine that has a ethernet port can go wireless. It may be cheap to buy another computer.

If the backup is corrupt, there is nothing that can be done.
For what reason did you choose to not copy the pictures off the device to a computer prior to attemping an update or whatever caused the need to restore? iPhones are not intended as sole storage of any media.

if you are not on ios 6, then all you can do is wait. if you have deleted the address from your contact list, then it will live on for a while in your 'recently used' addresses. as you use new addresses, those older ones fall down the list, and eventually fall off altogether (unless you use them again). Have patience, it will go away.

If you've emptied the trash, ehtn no. However if you have a backup, like Time Machine, or a recent backup copy of your photo library you could recover the photos from the trash.
The answer to getting a snapshot form iMovie depends on what version you have.
I should add it technically may be possible to recover the emptied trash, but if you really want to do that you would need to download a utility software that can attempt to recover deleted files. Do it soon before you start writing more data to that disk. At the moment I don't have a recommendation for such a program. Maybe someone else out there will offer suggestion.

Is there any way I can use bi beans without the patches

I am a Chinese student,I am doing some research on OLAP.
I'm in the initial stages of evaluating BI Beans for my research. We have previously not used Oracle in house.
In attempting to use BI Beans, the first thing you must do is install the latest patches against the Oracle database. Unfortunately, the patches are only available for people with a suport contract.
Is there any way I can get these patches without a support contract, or is there any way I can use bi beans without the patches?

Is there any way to delete duplicate files en mas within the new itunes program?

I've just installed the new itunes program on my laptop. I used the scan for media option to find music. Problem is almost every entry and there's several hundred of them is duplicated and in some cases triplicated within the itunes media library.
Question ... Is there any way to delete duplicated files en mas withing the itunes library folder?
Please don't tell me that I'm going to have to do it individually as that may take days.

Apple's official advice on duplicates is here... HT2905: How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls such as lost ratings and playlist membership.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created. If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background, this post for detailed instructions, and please take note of the warning
to backup your library before deduping.
(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed.)
The most recent version of the script can tidy dead links as long as there is at least one live duplicate to merge stats and playlist membership to and should cope sensibly when the same file has been added via multiple paths.
