Is this a Flash 8 bug? - Variable Freakout

Ok, this doesn't make sense at all - here is my set up:
in a root MC, I have 4 layers - all 1 frame each.
The 1st layer is an actions layer which defines 3 very simple
variables:

button-esque actionscript - a rollover, rollout, etc.
for example - here is the actionscript on one of my MC

As you can see, on rollover it defines a color for the text
and on press it defines the same color again (to make it stick) -
while also assigning a value to the a varaible "presscheck1".
I did this because on the rollout, I wanted to have the color
display differently before and after the button is clicked. This
explains the if/ else statement on the rollout.
With just this single button- everything works great, however
when I modify his code to stick on another MC (in one of the other
layers) as shown here:

The variables do not seem to enable/ disable the rollout
functions as defined in the press functions.
Basically all that happens is that after rolling in and out a
few times - the color never resets back to 0x546054.
This doesnt make sense, as even a trace will show that the
variables are being assigned on each press.
Im not sure what is happening, but this code seems extremely
logical - does anyone have any ideas on whats going wrong?

It almost reads like you are trying to manually code a symbol
to operate like a button (with the text color changes). If so, why
not allow the button states control your rollover/rollout changes?
- you must have some other code you aren't showing because I don't
see how anything would be changing color with this code).
Without being able to test your flash file, I can only advise
you to put a trace statement on each event (whether it's an "if"
and/or "else" and in that trace statement, have it trace logically
what you should be seeing such as " presscheck_n = and header
should turn green" and on rollouts, trace something like
"presscheck_n = header shoud reset back to some color". This way
you can find out where your code is not working. I can bet it's a
matter of what the value of pressCheck_N is.

    When I try to get a list of declared variables in a method, using variables() from class Method, I sometimes get two variables with the same name, although there is one declared. Is this a known bug?

    I'm guessing this is probably not a bug. The method variables() will return multiple instances of the same variable if it is declared in multiple scopes within the function. I'm not sure exactly why 'mx' is counted in two scopes in the given code, but I assume it has to do with how java compiles the if-statement.
    From the java documentation:
    List<LocalVariable> variables() throws AbsentInformationException
        Returns a list containing each LocalVariable declared in this method.
    The list includes any variable declared in any scope within the method.
    It may contain multiple variables of the same name declared within
    disjoint scopes. Arguments are considered local variables and will be
    present in the returned list.

    It is works only that samplerate is 44Mhz
    Other case has occured complete event even they do not

    the only supported samplerate's in flash are:
    "5 kHz", "11 kHz", "22 kHz", and "44 kHz".

  • Hi, all.  Obvious flash bug?

    Hi, all.  I appreciate all the help being offered here but I've observed what appears a denial that this last update has caused a large amount of headaches all around.
    I'm on Win 7 Sp1 x64 and Firefox 3.6.15.  Just to test Flash I turned off all addons, themes, and extentions except the Firefox defaults. I shut down FF and used the Flash uninstaller, used Advanced System Cleaner and the os disk cleaner to flush all cashes, clean the registry, and clean the drive in general.  I rebooted my machine, stopped all extraneous background programs and services, restarted a clean FF, and went to play a video on MaxPc that hasn't been working,  The page indicated I neede Flash so I installed it and turned off hardware acceleration.
    Needless to say the video played no longer than 57 secs and stopped.  Nothing I did, refresh, etc., would cause it to go further.
    Flash has a bug!  No amount of denial is going to change this.  We all depend on it.  It needs to be fixed.
    Please, if I've missed any steps in my experiment let me know.

    I know what the problem is and it's the new version of Flash Player 10.2...  Here is a link to the archive of older versions of Flash Player that worked:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html  I removed the new Flash Player version from my system following the instructions to a T and the videos would start to play for only a second or two, then a black screen or even a white screen (this was on Youtube).  It was only after I searched through other threads on this Adobe Flash Forum that I found the link to the older archived versions.  Go through the steps of removing the new Flash Player again, then go to the archive link.  I selected v 10.1 and it worked like a charm.  You will have to unzip the folder and manually install all three (3) files that have the red "Flash" logo on them.  After you do this you should be good to go.  Good luck!  I know this is a very frustrating problem and I want to help as many people as I can on this forum because, let's face it, we completely depend on "video" to enjoy our computers.  I hope you will let me know if this helps and if it doesn't, I'll try to find some other info for you or maybe I can clarify my instructions.

  • Is it flash bug? Tween Class

    I've been working on a bit big project. I've some components on the stage. There are basically 4 frames. Each frame has some components. What I've done is, I've used tween class. Workflow is something like this:
    Frame 1:
    --used Tween class to get fade effect for List component.
    --used Tween.MOTION_FINISH event to fire an event when it is finished.
    --when it is finished, applied eventListener
    --on Change event, remove eventListeners and use Tween class again to get reverse fade effect.
    --again used Tween.MOTION_FINISH event to fire an event when finished.
    --in that evenHandler, gotoAndStop(2);
    Frame 2:
    //similar
    Frame 3:
    //similar
    and so on.. now, what happens, is, if i play with my scene, sometimes tween class failed to work. sometimes it does not display List component, sometimes it displays List component with alpha 0.2. sometimes it happens with movieClip also. Is it flash bug or problem with my code?

    probably a coding problem.  the most common error that seems like a flash bug would be to define a tween within a function body allowing flash to gc that tween, possibly before it starts and/or completes.

    This is driving me nuts because these two lines shouldn't
    have any effect since right below them there is
    pnt=new Point(...);
    which supposedly "cancels" the 2 previous instructions.
    Right?
    Could anyone, please, show me the obvious that I can't see?

    it's not necessarily a flash bug. there are situations where
    assigning your pnt's x and y properties may trigger some other code
    to execute and re-assigning those properties immediately afterwards
    does not stop the other code from executing.
    you need to isolate the minimum code needed to display the
    issue before anyone will check it. you're nowhere close to that
    now:

  • Calendar adds an extra day when creating an event in ios 8.1.3. Is this a known bug?

    When i add an event using the calendar app in ios 8.1.3, it adds an extra day to the event when using a range of dates. I am able to recreate the problem. when entering the event i select a range of dates and confirm that it is what i want. after submitting, i verify and it has added an extra day at the end. Is this a known bug or am i on my own? Help please. this is annoying having to check each event after entering it.

    Ive reset, restored and this is the second phone. Thought it maybe a wonky screen that would shift it while setting dates. THe only thing I can think of is that I am syncing with google calendar, but it only happens when setting events in ios not if i do it from google website on desktop PC.

    According to your description that when you view the report it is extremely slow in SSRS 2008 R2 but it is very fast when execute the query in dataset designer, right?
    I have tested on my local environment and can‘t reproduce the issue. Obviously, it is the performance issue, rendering performance can be affected by a combination of factors that include hardware, number of concurrent users accessing reports, the amount
    of data in a report, design of the report, and output format. If you have parameters in your report which contains many values in the list, the bad performance as you mentioned is an known issue on 2008 R2 and already have the hotfix:

    Any issue after applying the update, I recommend you that submit a feedback at https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/ 
    If you don’t have, you can do some action to improve the performance when designing the report. Because how you create and update reports affects how fast the report renders.
    Actually, the Report Server ExecutionLog2  view contains reports performance data. You could make use of below query to see where the report processing time is being spent:

    I'm not sure I follow your words Fuzzynormal. You've helped by offering the insight that my issue in Logic Pro 9 is not a bug but a feature. But fell short of enlightenment by being a judge of character and of how one should interact in this forum. You insinuate that I haven't tried to solve the issue on my own when in fact I have. These forums are always my last resort. You further suggest that I am complaining. This is not a complaint. It is a genuine issue that I cannot figure out. Then you think that Brazeca is holding my hand and being a nice guy. Brazeca is helping people like me who might not be as adept at using Logic Pro as probably you are.This community forum was established to raise questions, answers and dicussion to help Apple's customers better undertand their operating systems and related issues.     Maybe I was to quick to report this as a bug... I was unable to find anything related to it at my normal sources of information. Does someone has exeperience with it?

    When a library (.lvlib) that contains a file with a run-time-menu (.rtm) file is removed from the project, but there is still a file that uses this .rtm file, both the .lvlib and all of it's vis and the .rtm file are displayed in the project Dependencies.
    For the Vi's the callers can be found by 'Find->calllers'. For the .rtm file this always results in 'No items found' but the .rtm file remains in the Dependencies (as it should since it is still used).
    Finding the .rtm file can be hard since it is only loaded at run-time and not at edit time(?). If someone encounters this issue, a working method:
    - rename the rtm file (so it cannot be found)
    - open the vis that you suspect are using this file AND try to edit the run-time menu. When this vi uses the run-time menu a warning will appear (cannot load rtm file, using default menu instead)

    thank you for your reply. It seems that a while back this problem has been reported to our R&D group. The request (CAR) has ID; 41579. There is the following statement in this CAR: the caller vi is in memory or not. When a caller vi is in memory, rtm files will currently never report the vi as a caller. This confirms the behavior you are seeing.
    I'm sorry to say I don't have a solution at this moment, at this moment they are busy fixing this problem. You can look this up in future release notes by searching on the CAR ID I mentioned.

  • Is this a JOGL bug with GLJPanel, a driver problem, or what?

    I've been trying to eliminate a problem I've been experiencing with my WorldWind Java (WWJ) application and I think I've finally taken a step torward finding the root cause, but I'm not sure whose problem it is yet or who to report it to, so I thought I'd start here and work my way up; if it can't get solved here, maybe it's a driver issue.
    The issue goes something like this:
    (Note: this only occurs when the -Dsun.java2d.opengl=true flag is set.)
    I have a GLJPanel on my primary display that works beautifully. I drag that panel onto my secondary display (slowly) and it disappears. Poof. If I position the panel halfway between screens, I can get about half of the panel to render on the secondary display, but any further than that and it disappears. I tried this on a Frame and with a GLCanvas as well and got different results: in a Frame, if I dragged the Panel over and then dragged it back into the primary display, it would disappear on the secondary display, but reappear on the primary display once it was dragged back. With the GLCanvas, I didn't have any issues.
    It's fairly simple to recreate this on my computer by using a WorldWind example that extends ApplicationTemplate and just adjusting ApplicationTemplate to use WWGLJPanels.
    However, I went so far as to reproduce the problem with a plain old GLJPanel:

    This is a bug that I'm seeing in Apple's new MobileMe service and I believe they are making use of the System Messaging Server product. (Sun Java(tm) System Messaging Server 6.3-6.03)
    Specifically I have an email that's MIME HTML and what I observe is that lines >999 chars are being truncated so in my case the nested table doesn't render correctly because a whole chunk of the HTML itself on this line has been truncated.
    The message fails to render correctly in their Web Client but also in Mail.app when it's accessed over IMAP4

    This flashes a few times then usually stops but not always.
    It happens every time I try to open a new page.
    I fixed this problem by uninstalling Adobe Flash Player 11 and installing Adobe Flash Player 10.3. However, now my IE browser wants me to install Adobe Flash Player 11 again. Although I don't use my IE browser frequently, I DO have to use it sometimes. Will there be an update to Firefox 15.0 to correct this issue?
