Is this a memeory leak or what?
My Environment: Windows 2000 Advaced Server. 256MB ram, ample disk space(6GB free); CPU is Pentium III 450 Mhertz; I have the j2sdk1.4.0_01 installed, and I've downloaded and installed Tomcat (jakarta-tomcat-4.0.3)
Tomcat runs and port is 8080; Installed Forte 3.0. I have no problems running either JSP or Java standalone application for a while.
The major problem is: whenever I start Forte to compile my Java programs and leave it on my work station for couple of hours, gradually the performance degrades
and within a day, the degradation is so bad that I cannot edit any java programs in Forte or compile or do anything in Forte. At which time I have to reboot my workstation and start all over again. I loose considerable time everyday doing this nonsense. I donot have any problem on this W/S with any other applications. Oracle 8i is also installed on this WS and it works fine. So also all other MS products & the internet. Performance degradation is somehow restricted with only Forte. All other applications runs for weeks if left on the WS.
My hard disk was brand new when I installed all the software.

I'm not a Forte user, but from the standpoint of IDEs, there could be issues with the way it is being used. For example, JBuilder has a "run" or "debug" button that can be used to run the application. When one of these buttons is clicked, it opens a new pane at the bottom of the screen to display the rsults of the run process. The problem is, it will open a new pane every time you click the run button at the top of the screen. The solution is to close the pane after each run or use the "rerun" icon that is displayed on the pane itself to run the program using the same pane for display.
My point is, you should check to see if something like this is happening with Forte. Perhaps it is keeping files open even after you are finised editing it and you have to explicitly close those files, perhaps it's consuming resources some other way that can be controlled by you. Check the documentation carefully.

Aperture is doing crazy things while editing like leaving spots on faces when using skin smoothing tool among other things. Closing and reopening fixes it but how annoying. I've read that it is caused from memory leaks. What do I do to fix this?
What is your Aperture version?
And your MacOS X version?
With Aperture 3 make sure you have the latest versions, Aperture 3.5.1 and OS 10.9.3.
The memory leaks you are referring to occurred with MacOS 10.9.1 and onscreen proofing enabled.
If yor versions are current, check your plug-ins for compatibility. -
I use Time Machine to back up my entire computer with my external hard drive. I am getting a brand new iMac this month and was wondering what is the process of using this back up to restore my new computer exactly how my old computer was? I want to make sure I will still have various important files on my new computer, like my songs in iTunes, my photos in iPhoto, etc, etc. Thanks so much in advance!

When you turn on the new iMac for the first time, Setup Assistant will ask you to restore a backup, so connect the external disk and follow steps to restore all your files to your new iMac. Your new Mac will have the same settings and programs as your old computer.
In other cases, I would recommend to restore the whole backup without using Migration Assistant or Setup Assistant, but a Late 2012 iMac uses a special OS X build, so the OS X version that you're using on your old Mac won't work on the new one. When attempting to login to a GlasPac (auto glass) website, it requires an F5 Plugin to be installed. This has been working in the past using Firefox 3.x.x and now since I upgraded to Firefox 4.0.1 it says the plugin in not compatibable with Firefox 4 and will not load it so I am dead in the water !!!!!!! The FF 4.0 upgrade has caused this serious situation ... what needs to be done to rectify it ???

I am trying to open iTunes on my mac. But a box pops up saying "The folder iTunes is on a locked disk or you do not have write permissions for this folder". Anyone know what that means? I've had my computer 2 years and its never had a problem opening it
I've already right-clicked on the application, clicked "get info", and changed it so all people listed in the "Sharing & Permissions" section have the "read & write" privilage.
The error message is referring to your iTunes library, not your iTunes application.
You need to check and fix the permissions of the iTunes folder in your iTunes library. This is by default located in your "Music" folder.
Select the folder Music > iTunes in the Finder, right click on it or Ctrl Click and click "Get Info". At the bottom of the contextual window thatwill pop up, disclose the Sharing and Permissions brick, change your status from Read only to Read & Write. You may need to click the padlock icon to make changes. -
my mail app on I phone 4s crashes every time when i try to open, and i can see it thru the setting>general. also phone is overheating and spending battery fast. does any one has some answer on this or same issue? what to do did any has same issue? if i do an complete phone restore what will hapend ?
You can call Verizon to replace it or go to an applestore to replace it since it won't even power on with multiple chargers.

In settings it has a spot to add an e mail address to icloud . What does adding one do ? I haven't finished it by verifying through e mail but my phone keeps saying I am using it for icloudin this phone. Ugh now what ?
if it's a message coming from your yahoo account, it means that your account has been compromised, not your phone itself. i would suggest changing the password for your email account

It's like it booted to a state it was in several months ago. My CS 5 apps are not in the dock or applications folder. Has this ever happened before and what can I do?
The files on my desktop are not the ones that were there when I shut down. It's like it's gone back in time.
My display's power supply got fried (I think) in a power outage so I bought a new one. However, every time I restart the display usually stays black. I have found I need to keep rebooting until it kicks in and starts working. I unplug everything, wait a while (a few minutes to overnight) and try booting again.
This last time the display finally came on but I'm faced with this problem. I used to use time machine, but I deleted everything and disabled it a couple months ago or more so I'm at aloss as to why the mac is booting into the state it was in sevearl months ago.
What could I have done to cause this? Has this ever happened to anyone else and is there a solution?
Note: I did a search for a file I knew was created today. I found it and it showed that it was a file I had saved on the desktop this morning--even though that file's icon is not appearing on the desktop now.
I did a search for photoshop and saw my CS5 version listed.
However, I did a couple more searches and these files no longer appear in the search. I don't know if they're there or not. This is bizarre!
I'm on a Mac Pro, 10.6.2.Thanks for the obvious question. I mean it. The very same thought came to me this morning and, sure enough, I had booted into another drive--my old one that, of course, had the old desktop, etc.
It didn't dawn on me that this was the case since I hadn't set it as a boot drive but I guess in the course of all the restarts I did, it got switched.

I've got to agree with Allan. It sounds like the hard drive is corrupt at least. It's possible it might be physically failing. Without backups, it's possible your data is already gone. You need a professional to help you.
If you do not have an Apple Store near you or simply don't have the time to spare, there are some things you can try, but you must understand that it's possible these things could make the chances of recovering your data worse than they already are. Perform the instructions to follow at your own risk!
First, you can try repairing your hard drive with Disk Utility. If that works, see if you can start up the machine. If you can, the very first thing you need to do is back up any data you don't want to lose. You may still need to take other steps, as your system may be damaged as well, but getting the data is the important part.
If Disk Utility cannot repair the problems, you can try DiskWarrior. It can repair problems that Disk Utility cannot. However, it also increases the risk of destroying your data if it fails. If it works and you can start up the machine, do the same as I advised for following success with Disk Utility.
If repairs (with either) were successful, but the machine still won't start up, you can try reinstalling the system. Hold down command-R at startup and then just install right on top of the existing system. If all goes well, you'll be able to start up afterwards and can get your data backed up. If all goes badly, it'll further decrease the chances of getting your data back.
If neither can repair the damage, you're in bad shape. You will need a professional to help you, unless you are willing to lose all your data. -
Have been advised by my email provider (recently blocked account requiring password reset) that they will only reset the password after a proven anti virus and malware scan has been done on ipad and iphone. Is this necessary and if so what do i use
As KP has pointed out, there actually aren't any anti-virus programs in the App Store. There are a few that allow you to scan e-mail or stuff like that, and a few that provide you with information about malware and new threats for other systems. But none are available that can scan your iOS device for malware, because the security restrictions in iOS do not permit any apps to have that kind of access to anything. Which means that you also cannot be infected with a virus (unless you have jailbroken your device).
If your account got compromised, that had nothing whatsoever to do with your iPad. Someone simply hacked it remotely. Happens all the time. It's really amazing that, in this day and age, e-mail providers are so ignorant of technology and how their own systems get compromised that they would try to require you to run software that does not exist! -
I had a 'dead' iMac repaired and it needed a new HDD and graphics card, the repairer installed OSX 10.6.8 and i now need to install other software but I am being asked for 'User' password so I may do this, I have no idea what this will be. can anybody help please?

Lightroom 5 file edited in photoshop cc 2014 does not appear back next to original after save. Is anyone else having this issue? If so what is the fix. The edited image appears back in lightroom in a new folder.
I'm performing a normal "Save", not "Save As". Work flow I'm using is as follows: Select photo in Lightroom 5.7 >" Edit In" Photoshop CC 2014 > (after working on photo is PS) > Save > close PS. Photo returns to Lightroom 5.7 in a new folder rather than next to the original. Prior to purchasing the monthly plan and upgrading to PS CC 2014, I performed this same work flow using Lightroom 5.6 and Photoshop CS6 without any issues.
Just for fun... I attempted to move the edited file back into the original folder. I received a prompt that said the file already existed in the original folder, however I can't see it except the new folder that LR created. I tried several different sort orders, etc without any success.
*** Follow up: Was unable to resolve the issue using Photoshop CC 2014. Uninstalled PS CC 2014 and went back to using Photoshop CS6. Return trips from LR 5.7 to Photoshop is now performing as it should: returning edited photo back to the original folder in LR 5 and placing next to the original image.
Should anyone have a suggestion on getting Photoshop CC 2014 to do the same, I would love to be educated.

I'm buying a new Macbook Pro this week and am wondering what is the best way to copy over the software I have from my existing Macbook Pro to the new one? eg. Photoshop and Office etc. I no longer have the CDs.
Ya know what I'm on a brand new MBP just about 24 hours old and you know whats been working amazingly for me. I have a 27inch iMac as well and i've just connected it to my network and been dragging files and apps across the network onto my new MBP. Its really working fast and its flawless. You could always do that option, Just go into sharing options and turn them on for both Macs. Then just click and drag. Of course they have to both be on the same network for this to be possible.
Look at my network.
Shared is what your looking at. I click on there see all my computers files and then drag the ones i want form its folder to my MBP folders. Hope that helps if your looking for a very simple way on a wireless network. -
When I turn my Ipad3 on I get a message that states IPad is disabled.. connect to ITunes. I have done this and nothing happens. What else might I try?
Force iPad into Recovery Mode
1. Turn off iPad
2. Connect USB cable to computer; leave the other end alone
3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
5. Release the Home button
6. Open iTune
7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"
8. Use iTune to restore iPad
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times. -
trying to add Itunes match, and am almost at the end of installation when an error message pops up. it says error 4010 cannot connect to ittunes store at this time try again later. what is the problem?
