  • Now let me understand this battery issue !

Most everyone is complaining about poor battery life ,,, correct ?
My HTC TP2 could go strong w/12hrs b4 needing a charge, Iphone would last 10hrs. with heavy use until a charge needed.
Verizon/Htc put up commercials that had a lightening/heavy electric cables etc. THAT should of clued us in that we would be required to use something other than the battery to last a full day !!  They sold (promised) us a phone under the pretense of 4G lte speeds, but probably 25%-35% do not get that speed,, oh well, but didn't expect such a POOR battery in otherwise a fine phone, sure you can get the FAT battery but WHO 1 expected to have to spend $50 more just to last all day on moderate use?
So as I understand their tech. support, the answer is to..GIVE UP your 4G (that you basically paid for) also turn OFF a lot of your apps. (that you use w/android), you end up paying $250 for a standard $99 smartphone. It's like buying a Corvette only to have a 4 cylinder motor in it because there is not enough room for the V8 !  I live in the dark red map area for 4G coverage only I only get it 25% of the time so I'm locked in by my choice to the 3G, If things on Verizon's side don't get much better soon I will turn my beloved (sometimes) Thunderbolt in & get the Iphone. I realize that this IS NEW TECHNOLOGY but "V" has let it's customers down by ether NOT field testing TB or they just had too much invested & too late to back out ? We as consumers will never know.
We will be locked in to our contract soon, with little or no chance to improve our cell service & products,, so we are STUCK !!
The ball is now in Verizon's court so lets see how this game will be played out, They know there is a big problem, so lets see how it is handled.

I've had my tbolt for almost 2 wks. Until today I have been getting 24 hrs on a charge and actually use the phone (phone calls while on 4g internet, playing with the mobile hot spot <mhs is a battery hog>). Yesterday I downloaded qik and played with bitbop (pretty cool tv app) and maybe a few other apps.
This morning the phone was dead. I completely charged the battery and took the phone to church @ 8:40a. By 11:30a the charge level was down to 15%.
I charged the battery again after church (again making sure the it was fully charged) removed the phone from the charger @ 3:45p. By 8:30p, the remaining charge was < 15% and I hadn't used the phone (left it on my desk while doing other stuff). Must be some runaway process draining the battery?
BTW: I live in Vegas and have been really happy with the 4g speed. A friend has an evo and we were in a restaurant in Henderson. We d/l a speed test app and each ran the test. His speed was less than 1 Mb (we verified his phn was in 4g mode), mine was greater than 10. I have been running the test all over Vegas (inside the 215 loop entirely so far... that may make some sense to locals) and the lowest speed I have posted is greater than 9Mb. For me the speeds have been on the high end of the 5-12Mb range VZW promises.

  • This battery issue is ridiculous.

I'm completely convinced that this problem stems from the recent update. I've had my laptop for nearly 3 years now, without a single battery problem - let alone any other type of serious problem. And last week, I installed the update I was given, like I do every Wednesday. I try to stay on top of these things - but this is an occasion when I wish I wouldn't have. I'm experiencing the exact same problems. I'll take my computer off the adapter, go downstairs...what have you. And after about a half hour or so - bam! Computer completely dies. No low batter warning, no nothing. I hook it back up to the power adapter, and it begins to start up again. This is completely ridiculous. Why on earth would an suggested update have this effect? I've never had a negative thing to say about my Mac and I'd like to keep it that way! Apple, someone, fix this!

  • Anyone guess what is wrong with this battery issue?

A couple of weeks ago I noticed something unusual... it showed "not charging" in the indicator instead of a percentage... I just never seen it show up like that but it was shown that way at 93%...so I wasn't too worried. I was told to calibrated my battery. Before I calibrated my battery I let it drop down to 85% and it wouldn't recharge at all until after a while and it did start to charge, although slowly and not consistently (went from green to orange). Then I let it drain all the way and it recharged up fine and showed the steady orange. I noticed when I would use it since then it'd never show it recharging back up like it used to ("trickle")... but when I put my computer to sleep and woke it up I noticed it had recharged and whatnot. Maybe I didn't calibrate it right? I don't think I let it sleep for 5 hours. But I'm not sure if that will even fix the problem. I cleaned the magsafe adapter and the connector just in case but I don't think a dirty adapter is the problem. Something makes me think something's wrong with the logic board or battery? Am I jumping to conclusions? I didn't touch the computer after last Sunday and when I woke the computer up on Wednesday it showed "Not Charging" at 82%...I let it drop to 75% and it still says not charging with a green light. Great. I don't know what to do...I think mine is a built in battery MBP so I don't even know how to check it. I've only had this computer for 17 months. Should I trust local repairs to look at my computer? I don't really have a lot to spend... I have never been mobile with it so it's fine as a desktop but it's not ideal, especially if you were to lose it if you were working on it. I've already tried the SMC and it did nothing...unless I didn't do it right... anyone else know what I could do to try to fix the problem on my own? I'm worried about recalibrating it and it not charging back up, probably won't happen but it's in the back of my mind of constant worry.

Ok here are my recommendations for your consideration:
Goto the “apple “on your top menu bar. Click 1stoption (About this Mac) a small screen will appear
andclick on “More Info...which will take to a large another smallscreen with Mac Book Pro in huge
    letterslike this: MacBookPro.
Nextgo the “Systems Report” button: press.
NextUnder “Hardware” on the left you'll see “Power” click that.Volia the battery info
Nowlets do an analysis of the info: here's mine a 2 mo. Old 17” MBP:

OK under“Charge Information” you see my MBP currently at 7806mAh (mstands Milli
which is 10 tothe -3 power) which translates to 7.806 Amp hours in non-techiespeak. As you see on mine Full Charge Capacity is 8.488 Amp hours.
Ok under healthyou see my cycle count is 17. Your very low cycle count 31 reflects that you are not “conditioning” your battery by runningit on battery till 5 minute warning or going to sleep and then fullyrecharging it! You've had it ~18 mo. And your dooming your battery to a short life.
Condition your battery for a long life.
Please notethis is a super battery 2.131 Amps @ 12.534Volts which Apple sayswill last 7 hours. Real world experience is significantly less withLion OS installed.

  • Semi-Scientific Test on iPhone 4S Battery Issue w/two iPhone 4Ss

    All,
My wife and I ordered identical 16 GB iPhone 4Ss. They were set up the same way. From the very start, I could tell that her battery was outperforming mine.
After a day of turning off and on various settings, from Location Services, to Siri, to iTunes settings, etc. I still noticed a huge gap in stand-by performance. I was losing 1% per 10 minutes, her phone was not.
Today, we had similiar usage with similar network characteristics (WiFi, decent 3G coverage) starting from a full charge (100%). After 8 hours, her phone still had 52% remaining. Mine died on the way home from work.
So tonight, I performed a test. I plugged both phones up and allowed them to fully charge to 100%. While plugged up, I ensured each setting on the phone were identical, including the number of Exchange accounts, brightness level, etc. At 9pm CDT, I unplugged them. My phone took a long time to get from 99% to 100%, her phone didn't. Mine also went to 99% upon unplug, her's didn't.
Neither phone was used at all, stayed completely in stand-by mode. At 10:15pm CDT, ...her phone remains at 100%. Mine is now at 92%. That's roughly 1% every 10 minutes on my phone, same thing I saw earlier in the day.
I think this, for me at least, confirms the diverse results folks are seeing. Some folks are seeing major battery issues, some are seeing better battery life over other iOS devices. It just so happens in our house, we have one of each. Why would two identical phones behave so differently? I've exahusted all possible options on my phone, including the recently posted attempt at deleting e-mail accounts and resetting network settings.
Does Apple recommend that I do a restore on my phone? I am trying to do so, but I am having issues re-downloading iOS 5. If I still see the same battery drain, I believe I will take this into the Genius bar.
I do believe it's time that Apple address this battery issue. I for one, based on experience, believe it's real, and could be a manufacturing defect. I don't know how else to explain two identical phones having vastly different stand-by results if my restore fails to fix the issue.

After spending 2 days troubleshooting I have found my battery drain culprit. When I turn my wifi on it coninuously disconnects and reconnects to my network. This was draining my battery about 1% every 4 minutes. I went through all the turn this stuff off, reset network settings, setup phone as new, helped some but still had the issue. This morning I set mine and my wife's up the same, she went to work and was playing music on the way in. Still had 100% after 40 minutes. I was at home with wifi on and dropped to 90%.
I charged my battery back up, turned wifi off and now after an hour still have 100%. This is with siri on, icloud on, notifications on, etc.
Can anyone else confirn this is an issue for them. I am trying to determine if it is hardware or software related.
    Thanks

  • I PHONE 5 BATTERY ISSUE AND PHONE SHUTS OFF

MY I PHONE 5 SHUTS OFF REPEATLY AND BATTERY PERCENTAGE IS SHOWING DIFFERENT NUMBERS

I'd just like to say that ahs70's post on Dec 1, 2013 at 1:17am on Pg. 9 worked for me as well: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5338609?start=120&tstart=0
If your iPhone's battery is acting up you need to determine if it's a software issue or a hardware/battery issue.  To do that, after syncing your iPhone, erase/hard reset all data and settings from your iPhone to what it was from the factory as new.  This can be found in Settings/General/Reset/Erase All Content and Settings.  Then test it out for a day or two.  If it's still acting up then it's likely a hardware issue and you will need to get your battery replaced.  If your warranty is done than check out this link to get a battery kit to replace your iPhone battery yourself:  http://www.ifixit.com/Store/iPhone/iPhone-5-Replacement-Battery/IF118-001#produc tDescription
If your iPhone is now working properly after hard resetting it than it's most likely a software issue.  This battery issue only started after upgrading to the new iOs7, so it is obviously related to the update not properly installing itself.  What has worked for me and many others is to manually update to iOS 7.0.4 using the full downloaded version of the update which is about 1.32 Gigs.
But first you need to find out what model of iPhone you have, click here to determine if it's GSM or CDMA: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3939?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
Then go here and scroll down to download the iOS 7.0.4 complete update for your device:  http://www.downloadios7.org/download-ios-7-0-4-ipsw-file.html
Then scroll up on the download page and follow the instructions of updating your iPhone manually following the instructions below:  "IPSW with iTunes"
    And your done.
    Problem solved.
I only posted this because it was a very frustrating problem that no one really seemed to figure out a solution for.
    I hope this helps.

  • 80GB classic restore battery issue

Twice in the past month, when my iPod battery reaches empty, I find the screen message saying "connect to power." When I connect to my computer, the iPod will be declared to be in recovery mode and thus force me to re-load all my files and music to my iPod. I'm not sure if there's a hardware problem in the iPod where it's rapidly failing, or if there's just some really obnoxious software error. I'm running 64 bit iTunes 9.0.2.25 on windows 7 64 bit. Has this battery issue become known? It's rather irritating.

Just to note, I've recently had the issue where upon clicking "restore" when connected, the iPod goes to restore, but then immediately is re-detected in recovery mode again. It's obviously a pretty big problem if I want to charge my iPod at my computer, rather than a dock or other basic power supply. Any info on this?

  • Battery issue (6-cells) with my X220

    Hi,
For few weeks now, I have been experiencing a very frustrating battery issue with my X220.
Usually I put my laptop in hibernation while there is still a good battery capacity (70-80%) at night (or before going to work).
On the next day, when restarting the laptop, both Power manager and the windows gauge are indicating close to the same percentage as just before it was stopped the night before.
Then after a random time, ranging from few minutes to a hour or so, windows will notify me that the battery is at a critical level of charge (6%) while just before both Power manager and windows indicator were showing something like 60% remaining.
At that point windows shows 6% while power manager still shows the previous level of charge (let say 60%). After few minutes, Power manager indicator goes all to 6% and then the PC hibernates.
I think that my issue appeared after I updated Power manager, I reinstalled it including its driver with no luck...
I am now performing a battery reset to see if it helps.
I read several other posts regarding similar issues on the lenovo forums, it was suggested that some battery cells might been faulty and that a battery swap might solve the problem. However, as far as I read, it seems that people who performed a battery swap were still experiencing the issue.
I wanted to know if there were any know fix for this battery issue or at least what steps I should be taking to investigate/debug this issue?
Thanks in advance for your help
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

To get the obvious out of the way, when your battery life suddenly drops off, are you watching YouTube or surfing Flash-heavy web sites?
Yeah, a sudden drop-off in indicated battery life sounds like a driver issue, so I dunno...maybe you could try rolling back the battery driver or Power Manager. (There's a way to roll back the driver via Windows Device Manager, right? Just make sure you don't uninstall the driver through Windows; there should be a button to click for "roll back driver.") I suggest making regular full-system-image backups of your X220 while you're working on the drivers. With my old x100e, I got myself into trouble after uninstalling AMD Catalyst Controller, and it just refused to reinstall.
Do you think like...a battery calibration would work? Go into Power Manager, Advanced, then Global Settings. Go to the battery low/critical section and click the box that says "do nothing" for when low and critical are reached. Power Manager will force the computer to run, even though the battery will broadcast a 0% level remaining. (And just to be safe, run the calibration with everything closed, use Power Manager to set the CPU to "low," and set a video looping in WMP or something like that, at brightness 11 of 15.)  It's not too healthy for the battery (to deep discharge), but if you get 3-6 hours in that test, it'll be safe to say the problem's in the software, either something hogging CPU power or a driver issue.
I've done it a bunch of times, but in my experience it doesn't change much. I've only ever gotten 7-10 minutes of runtime while the battery says it's at 0%. The laptop will just wink out when it's done, no hibernation.
Try it if you haven't yet.

My iPod works properly only if connected to the USB port on my PC, unplugged it goes blank and stops working.  Is this an old battery issue?

Yes.  It sounds like the iPod's battery is on its last leg.  If you want to keep using your iPod you'll want to have the battery replaced either by Apple, a third party company, or you can even buy the replacement part and swap it out yourself.

  • Possible cure for battery issues

    hi
first of all i dont own the device yet
    i am user of 5530,5800,n8,c7,701
i was looking farword to bring in my hands the first nokia wp7 but due to features missing and (in my opinion) little overpriced at the moment(as sim free) i will wait for the next nokia wp7
but being for a while in nokia forums i deside to write this atricle with my opinion about the battery issue (IF IT IS) with the 800
after reading many users facing problem with battery  in different revious and forums about my N9 last longer or my N8 etc i deside to do a test with my current in use 701(1300milliamber battery and the brightness screen that nokia offers right now)
i left all day the phone connected to 3g and gprs data with about 5 min calls couple of textsand little browsing fmobi, little use the default browser, little use apps which connects to internet ...all these  for about 1,5 - 2 hrs
it did last about 12 hrs same as some users with the lumia
Now if you dont belive me TRY THE SAME TEST BY YOUR SELFS
what i have understand (as i dont own the device) is that perhaps by default or out of the box (and especially the branded phones from the providers) is that featurs like wifi or data, nokia account, market place bing etc must be ON
if was the same issue with my 701 it will not go too far of course
what nokia possible can do is to do a frimware update which in start up or rebooting the phone....dark them, wifi, data, bluetooth, internet connection should be off by default like in symbian
i am sure the upcoming new customers will not have future complains
but i belive this is important as some poeple dont have the knowlege to do all these to turn off manual, especially in a new UI that they are using first time (wp7) and of course having a new phone most of them especially the non experts can think the battery drains so easy if all are ON
******* or at least nokia should make it like symbian to turn off automatic after closing apps, face, twitter, email etc
    thanks for your time reading
for me after my Xmas bonus(if any lol)  i will go for a windows phone(sim unlocked)either if nokia or other brand
of course i can wait for the next nokia model not because of the battery issue but i prefer in windows phone 7 bigger screen
    thanks again

I must agree with your thinking...
When I first got my C7, battery wasn't lasting a day...
And the reasons was the ones you said...
e-mail was keeping data on, WiFi was always looking for a connexion
I won't say that the Lumia 800 can't have any battery issues, but first of all, it's our use that kill off the bettery...
Setting e-mil to work only once per hour, setting WiFi off when not used...
Only those 2 option give a bette life to the battery...

  • Is the battery issue with the 4s resolve or is it still a problem

I'm thinking of uupgrading to the 4S but don't want to if they are having battery issues.

  • Genius Bar Feedback on Battery Issues

Ok..so I know there are hundreds of posts regarding various battery issues. I thought it might be helpful to post feedback on my genius bar visit today regarding my battery.
The issue with my battery is that the meter seems to be stuck at about 80% full, regardless of how much I use the iPhone or how long I charge it. I have no accurate way of knowing how much battery life I have left. I have even played 6+ hours of straight video to drain the batter and the meter never moves.
Fortunately, my lightning bolt icon (upper right corner) does eventually change to an a/c plug which tells me that the battery is fully charged even though the big green battery is always at 80%.
So the guy at the genius bar tried and inquired about all the usual tricks already discussed in this forum (restore, plug AC adapter to wall instead of USB, turn off wifi, bluetooth, etc). and concluded that it's most likely a software issue.
He did say however that the the usage statistics frequently mentioned here are controlled by AT&T and that it's functionality depends on AT&T sending some sort of over-the-air signal. Don't know if I buy that.
So, in a nutshell, they did not offer to replace the phone (not that they had any in stock anyway), but instead made a notation of the problem using my serial number and told me to wait for an Apple software update, which will most likely correct the problem. If it doesn't, then they can assume a hardware conflict and issue an replacement.
I know this is getting long, but I would like to add that my battery life itself seems fine. I just never know what I have left by looking at any of the two meters.
    G5 Duo-Core   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

My original iPhone had poor battery performance and would not reset the usage stats. There is no Apple Store near me, so Apple support sent a service phone and I sent mine in. The service phone has good battery performance and correctly reset the stats. I was notified that the original phone could not be repaired and a new replacement was sent to me. The new iPhone has great battery performance, but no matter what I try, the usage stats won't reset. Today I was told by Apple support that they believe this is a software issue and a revision would be developed to address the problem. There is no forecast availability date. It doesn't make any sense that a signal from AT&T would have anything to do with the battery stats. The service phone charged and reset the stats before I swapped my SIM into it.

  • Battery issue and warranty question

I bought my macbook pro in Dec 2007 and really love it. Fancy interface, easy usage. And after almost a year in Nov 2008, my battery went bad. Only last for 45 minutes, I check my serial and it said I'm still under warranty so I went to the nearest apple store which is in Glendale Galleria and got a free replacement battery without any problem.
Things went well until now, my macbook pro appeared to be shutdown automatically within 10 minutes of usage eventhough I still have like 90% left. I tried everything but still.
My question is, will I get a free replacement battery again ? I know that my warranty is over, but this battery I got from last Nov, so it is not even a year old. Will it work out or I have to buy a new battery ?

Unfortunately there's no one here that can answer that question. This is a user-to-user discussion forum. As all service issues are handled on a case-by-case basis by Apple there are two people that can assist you further:
1.) The agent that picks up the phone when you call (800) APL-CARE
2.) The Genius at the Apple Retail Store that sees you for your appointment
That's the next step at this point, we can speculate here till we're blue in the face.
