Is Verizon going to offer the 32GB and/or 64GB models of the Galaxy S 4?

I have been waiting for months for information about this phone.  It has come out incrementally in very small bites and, slowest and most grudgingly of all, from Verizon.  Now, finally, Verizon has offered pre-order of the 16GB model.  I don't want the 16GB model.  I want, at least, the 32GB.  If that had been offered, I'd have pre-ordered today.  Now, I don't know what to do.
The "sales associate" I spoke with said she had no information concerning the 32GB model other than it is not offered now.  Will it ever be offered?  She has no information about that.
This is to be my first smartphone.  So, it is my first experience with the whole smartphone buying experience.  I am totally disgusted with the entire experience.  I'm tired of Googling every day for any scrap of information.  I'm tired of the stupid game the provider companies play with their customers.  Do they think they gin up interest and therefore increase sales by withholding information and leaving everyone interested to speculate amongst themselves about simple questions like which carriers are going to offer a phone, when each carrier might offer it, and when and if the different available models will be offered?
I am not among the demographic groups that find it important to be the first to own a new device, I have only been anxious because I have finally decided it's past time to join the smartphone revolution and this seems like the best one to get.  However, you can only keep someone on the edge of anticipation so long before that anticipation deflates and I guess that's what has happened to me.  Today I reached the "screw it" point.  I have a perfectly good old LG that has served me well as a basic phone and I have an iPod Touch that does everything else I need, for now, with unlimited free data, so what's my hurry anyway?
Plus, in the course of searching for information on these forums, today, I discovered that there appears to be a long-term problem with Verizon and Samsung phones in the basic reception department.  While I love the idea of a pocket computer, I still primarily care about having a functional phone.
I realize that nowadays, with these super giant companies, individual customers are invisible and 100% powerless.  Verizon doesn't care what even large blocks of customers think.  Oh, the arrogance...
Thanks for nothing Verizon.  Keep your **** secrets.  I'm moving on to other interests.
(Apologies to forum members--I know Verizon doesn't read here or care, but I can't get through to them and I had to vent somewhere.  Also, if someone could answer my question, I'd be really grateful.  Unfortunately I doubt that anyone can.)

As I understand it, the 64GB S4 is exclusive to AT&T - at least, for now. Sprint and T-Mobile don't have that either.
Sprint's pre-ordering for the S4 is closed until tomorrow. ("Sorry, we're out of stock. PRE-ORDER CLOSED - CHECK BACK ON 4/27") I don't know if that means they haven't started yet or ran out of the first pre-order stock. Sprint is only offering the 16GB model on the web site. On their web store, AT&T is only offering the 16GB model. They've already announced the 32 and 64GB models, but they aren't available via pre-order. T-Mobile isn't giving out any details about their S4 yet. They are just taking names.
This may just be a manufacturing choice. It may be that Samsung's S3 sales were overwhelmingly skewed to the low-end model, so they are making mostly the same on the first runs of the S4. As the production of the 32GB model ramps up, we may see it offered as well. I also wouldn't be surprised if the higher capacity models are only available in stores in a ploy to get customers in front of a representative so they can be upsold/crosssold accessories, insurance, etc. It makes sense in that if you are willing to pay $50 more to get a part that costs $2 more to manufacture, you probably have money for other things.
As far as the expansion slot, I'm somewhat afraid of it. I originally heard this on a podcast and have been able to partially confirm it. The NAND (aka flash) memory used in devices like this is binned according to how many write cycles it can perform before failing. (Reading doesn't wear it out.) The highest quality is being used in solid state disk drives (SSD drives) since a lot of writing is expected. Within those, NAND is binned for enterprise, pro and consumer models. The next quality bin is used for devices like phones, cameras (internal memory), and tablets, where a lot of write cycles are expected, but not quite the level of those used for SSDs. For both of the previous uses, the memory is not user replaceable if it fails so reliability is important. After that is a bin used for USB drives. It fails often by comparison, but is simple to replace - buy a new one. At the very bottom, is the bin used for SD, mini-SD, micro-SD card, Compact Flash and the like. Basically, those can be expected to fail. They are also easy to replace - with new ones. The recommendation was to either use them as semi-permanent storage by writing to them very sparingly (e.g, once) or never put anything on them you don't have a copy of somewhere else.

  • When is Verizon going to offer the iPhone 4 8GB for free with 2 year contract extention?

Just wondering when this was going to happen.  My wife is due for an upgrade and I'd like t wait and get the iPhone 4 for free rather than paying 100 bucks right now and extend the contract for two more years.

Also....whats the deal with there not being an option to chat with someone from Verizon about simple questions like this.....geez.....this is really aggravating.
Well, it's a simple question and I can tell you the answer you would get. "We have no information"
In general, businesses don't tell you "Don't buy now.  Wait X weeks and it will be cheaper".

  • I currently have the 2 gig data plan for $50, plus a free 1 gig promotional attachment but Verizon is currently offering the 3 gig data plan for $50, but if I upgrade will I lose the free 1 gig promotion I currently have attached to my account?

I currently have the 2 gig data plan for $50, plus a free 1 gig promotional attachment but Verizon is currently offering the 3 gig data plan for $50, but if I upgrade will I lose the free 1 gig promotion I currently have attached to my account?
I understand I will still be getting 3 gigs of data for the $50, I would just like to continue to have the free 1 gig promotion I was already getting, if you Verizon was willing to do it before then why can't they continue to do it now?

Like Ann154 said, changing plans often results in the loss of any promos you may have.  In your case, it makes no difference to the price you will pay - you'll have 3 GB for $50.  Whether you have 1GB free, or a better price on the 3GB plan is a wash.  I'd leave things alone....

  • Is Verizon going to acknowlege the problems with FIOS and Windows Vista

For months now, I have been reading the numerous problems Fios internet customers are having with Fios internet/Actiontech Router and Windows Vista and there has been no acknowledgement by Verizon of this current major issue.
I have also experienced the exact same issue for months now since I switched to Verizon FIOS internet. Previously I had Comcast HSI using my Windows Vista laptop.  I had their service for over a year and I NEVER has a problem with the Windows Vista globe icon disappearing and loosing internet connection. The Globe always stayed on and never went away and I never lost connection when I had Comcast
I had Verizon FIOS installed last September with my Windows Vista computer and my wireless internet connection started to drop from day 1 and it has been a daily occurrence for over 5 months now.  It has gotten so bad, I have had to hardwire my laptop to to be able to use the internet uninterrupted.
This is what daily scenario is:
When I turn on my laptop(with Windows Vista, I can initially get full internet access(with the globe on and it says "Local and internet). After about 10 minutes or less, the globe switches to "local only" and I can still get  internet access.  After another 5 or so minutes, a large X covers the globe and I lose internet connection entirely. The actiontech router wireless signal is no longer listed as one of the wireless networks.  The only way for me to regain internet access is either to restart my laptop or reboot the actiontech router.
Numeorus posts here, over by DSL forums(Broadband Reports),Microsoft's website and a few othere websites detail this issue.
I am extremely shocked and surprised that Verizon has not tried to fix this issue by working with both the makers of the Actiontech Router as well as Microsoft to find out what the problem is and how to fix it.
I would just like to reiterate I strongly believe this is primarily a FIOS internet issue since I previously had Comcast HSI for over a year with the same Windows Vista laptop and I NEVER had that problem. Also,  I can connect to my neighbors wireless connection(she uses Comcast HSI) and when I do, the globe stay on all the time on my computer and the internet does not lose connection.
I know that there are a couple of Verizon employees here. Please tell the higher ups who handle FIOS internet that this is a major issue that needs to be resolved as soon as possible.
P.S: Please don't tell me to go by my own router because then, I will have to deal with the issues of setting it up to work with Fios TV and the related VOD, widgets, remote DVR compatability issues to deal with. I don't think I can deal with the additional headaches.

FIOS is short for fiber optics.  fiber optics is different technology than DSL.
With that said, if you search the Microsoft databases for vista issues with fiber optics, (CURRENTLY THERE IS ONLY ONE PROVIDER OF FIBER TO THE HOUSE, that being Verizon, so yes you can also search Vista issues with verizon and\or fios) and you will find that Microsoft already acknowledges this issue with their software.  AND they offer you a fix.

  • Does Verizon even really offer the advertised "Local Digital" plan for $12.99 a month?

In the first image, look at the rightmost column, and in the 2nd image, it is advertised for $12.99 a month.
This is what I want to downgrade our TV service to.
Yet, I am getting ALL SORTS of conflicting information from Verizon reps on phone. Some say they do not offer it, some say I cannot subscribe to FIOS Internet if I go with this plan (which I think is absurd).
What will it take to truly switch to this TV plan, while keeping my FIOS Internet? Obviously the Verizon reps on the phone cannot seem to come to the same consesus as to whether or not they truly offer this plan...
    Thanks in advance.

It's possible that you are coming out of a remote terminal or remote DSLAM, rather than a full blown central office. Verizon seems to have an unspoken rule or habit of only provisioning 3Mbps and below to customers on the remotes. To augment that, it's been seen in some cases that they are running Fiber to the remotes, but only supply the equivalent of several T1 circuits rather than OC-3 Fiber or better.
To find out why the speeds are being limited, we would need to know what kind of DSLAM is in use, and how far you are from the nearest Verizon CO. The attenuation you have suggests you're one mile of wire length away from the source of DSL, which is either an RT or a CO. From that point, we would also need to find out what kind of connectiivty Verizon has running to your DSLAM.
If you're coming out of a CO instead, it's also been seen that Verizon has a habit of selling only 3Mbps out of congested COs or those with lesser connectivity running to the CO.
The thing you can do, is pressure Verizon into giving you at least 7Mbps. With those stats you should have no problems at all. It's going to take weeks of pushing to get the job done, but it is possible. I'd start off by calling Techincal Support, who would be able to assist with this. Emphasize to ignore the availability database - this is just a bunch of records controlled by what Verizon wants to input in.

  • When is Verizon going to fix the note 3 issue

My phone is useless. I am very upset.  This is my 2nd phone, i have changed the sim card, factory reset, they tested my battery.  There is something wrong with the phone
Please fix this ASAP or send me a new phone.  I am a long time customer and very upset I may lose my job for missing the calls i missed this week

        Frustrated_liz,
Hearing about all of the issues going on is upsetting to me, and so I can only imagine how you're feeling. I'm sorry you have to go through this experience. How hot is the phone getting? Hearing about it overheating is a huge safety concern and I'm worried. Have these service issues been going on since you got the phone?

  • Is Verizon going to get the Blackberry Storm 3 (9570)?

I am currently an Alltel customer that was bought out by at&t.  We are set to change over in December or January.  I may or may not stay with at&t as I have heard bad things about their service.  I am interested in a complete touch screen Blackberry and am wondering if Verizon is set to get the Blackberry Storm 3?  I heard they were and then heard it was cancelled?!  Anyone know? Thanks!

  • Questions about the Galaxy Tab on Verizon

    Hello
Samsung is saying that the Galaxy Tab is comming to Verizonwireless soon. Rumors are sometime in November. I'm really excited about this product but I'm a little in the dark on some of the features and capabilties Verizonwireless will have for the Tablet when it is introduced.
Q1. Will I be able to use my Verizon cell phone number with the tablet to make and receive phone calls? If Verizon configures it for cell phone serivce, this device will be an iPad killer. Rumor has it that it is being offered in the UK with cell phoine service.
Q2. Will it be introduced on Verizons 4G network? May as well start off on the right foot. Again, this will be hugely popular with Verizon customers if it is.
Q3. When? My contract is up in December and I am looking for a device like this. When does Verizon plan to release the Galaxy Tab?
    Thanks

  • Can the Galaxy SIII have a white on black Settings/Setup Screen?

I was at the Verizon store yesterday comparing the Galaxy SIII to the new  iPHone5. I need a white on black theme, like my iPhone4 has. The Galaxy had a white on black theme, except the Settings page. Could someone please verify that this is correct? I couldn't find a way to make the Settings or Setup page white on black.
I would appreciate anyone's input, the Galaxy would be my choice because of it's larger screen and feature's, but it's not having a white on black Settings page is a show-stopper for me.....

Thank you for replying! I guess I missed it when spending time with it, at the VZW Store. The bigger screen makes it my preference over the iphone5. Apple's only lengthening the new iphone by a half inch, just doesn't cut it.

  • What's with the 3Mbps limitation on DSL, and why does Verizon refuse to offer higher?

Verizon's High-speed Internet website states they have two services offered above my 3Mbps plan. I've spoken to a few people at Verizon's customer service center (including a supervisor), and all are adamant on their stance that they cannot offer a higher service for my area (southwestern PA).
It was stated that the max speed is determined based on the distance from the central office. The thing is, the central office is located in my town, and I'm just under a mile away from it.
According to ADSL2+ specifications, the highest download speed advertised is 24Mbps. The modem I have currently claims it can reach an attainable rate of 17Mbps. All ADSL standards (aside from two oldest ones that are irrelevant since my current 3Mbps is higher than them and Verizon isn't using them) go above 3Mbps. The supervisor I spoke to had no idea what a ADSL2+ standard was, and was unable to tell me what standard Verizon is actually offering; but I could probably find out from the modem diagnostics page or something.
So with all that in-mind, Verizon offers DSL packages that are higher than my current tier (the highest being 7.1 to 15 Mbps), the max ADSL2+ speed being 24Mbps, and the max attainable rate for my modem is 17Mbps with me being less than a mile away from the central office. And even after all that, Verizon is intent on stating they don't offer higher speeds than 3Mbps, and are adamant in stating they cannot provide higher speeds than that.
I'm also on Verizon's Double-play bundle with DirecTV. The speed restriction is even more insulting considering you can't even use DirecTV's On-demand service without the internet speed crawling to a halt. And if the internet is being used prior-to using On-demand; On-demand becomes unusable.
So.. does anyone know what is up with this? I'm paying for "High Speed Internet Enhanced", and I'm getting speeds not even respectable of that (compared to today's standard), paying $44/month for it, and even though all technical aspects say they can bump the speeds up higher; they refuse to.
I can use public WiFi that offers faster speeds for free. I can connect to any xfinitywifi hotspot and get pretty close to double the speeds I'm paying for. Can even tether to my slow cell phone with barely-supported-in-my-area 3G and get better speeds. There's zero reason why a paid landline connection can't go faster than those...
I find the situation pretty ridiculous, and have even filed a FCC complaint about it.

  • Verizon doesnt offer the upgrade after 1 year and 8 months anymore?!

I've been with Verizon for a really long time and one of the best things about their upgrades was that they used to allow you to do it a little early.  And since you dont really keep up with plan changes until a new phone comes out or you are closer to your upgrade eligibility date, I didnt realize that they changed this.  My phone is on its last leg.  2 years is a long time for a device that you use every day, 50 times a day.  My upgrade date is a month away and I'm considering moving to a different service and letting them pay for my ETF.  I have called Verizon asking if there was anything they could do to allow me to upgrade early and they said no.  When did this start happening?  They tried to sell me the "Edge" but thats the same as paying 700 dollars.
Has anyone thought of doing the same?

Read the article you linked. The first line states "In the last year, AT&T did away with early upgrades for customers,"
Of course you can get an early upgrade if you sign up for their Next plan, but that would be the same as singing up for Verizon's Edge plan which you said you wouldn't do because you "refuse to pay out the BUTT to do it". Possibly you just don't mind "paying out the BUTT" at AT&T???
I fail to see where you will be getting an early upgrade with AT&T by signing a new 2yr contract.

  • My iPhone 6 order was canceled without my permission and without reason or explanation. I have had a verizon cell phone for 13 years and have gotten your cable/internet/phone when i moved out on my own because i had been so happy with the experience i had

I have had a verizon cell phone for 13 years and have gotten your cable/internet/phone when i moved out on my own because i had been so happy with the experience i had with the cell phone service. i ordered my new iPhone 6 on October 6th along with my husband. i was told by the sales associate at the vierzon store where i placed the order that it would ship a week before halloween. instead of a shipping confirmation, i received an email a week before halloween letting me know that my order had been placed on 10/24/14. i thought this was weird, but figured i could weight another week or two, no big deal. my husband got his phone in the mail yesterday. still no sign of mine. then this morning i got an email letting me know that my order was cancelled and if id like to place another order for a phone, then i can go back to the store and do so. why would i want to go through another month of this??? verzon lost my order. i never canceled it and i am beyond annoyed. i am looking to switch my entire house to another provider. this is ridiculous.

i did not get any reasons or explanations. the email just stated that my order was canceled and that it won't be posted to my credit card (i have more than enough to cover the cost, so that is not the issue). also my husbands phone was paid for from the same card moments before me. my balance is always paid automatically and on time. so that couldn't be the reason either. that's what so frustrating is because they didn't explain what happened. this is what the email read exactly:
"This email is to confirm that your order has been cancelled; you have not been billed for this merchandise.
If you would like to place a new order, you may do so by visiting your local retail store or going online to www.verizonwireless.com.
Business customers should refer back to their local Verizon Wireless Sales Representative if you have any questions or would like to place a new order.
Thank you, and we look forward to your business in the future.
    Verizon Wireless"
it almost feels like its saying that i canceled it and that this was to confirm that i did. but i didn't cancel anything.

  • Verizon mades changes in the coding and now Windows Phone 7 is having data issues!!!

Starting about 3 weeks ago, I stopped receiving text messages and even worse stopped receiving calls yet alone my voicemails.  I have changed not one thing to my phone, everything is exactly the way it was before the issues arised.  Now I have to trick my phone to receive my data by dialing into my voicemail...  And then what do you know, 30 text mesages, 12 voicemails!!!
The voicemails wont even tell you the date or time stamp (the time the voicemail was received).  After numerous *228 and talking with level 2 over the holidays, I see a huge article on multiple news sites stating Verizon is having data issues...  Dropped calls, loss of data, no signal while all our phone keep showing full bars and 3g.  Verizon stated its only happening on there 4gLTE system and not 3G but thats a load of crap.
All one has to do is a google search of loss of text messages or voicemails on Verizon and you will see 100's up to 1000's of users like you and me all experiencing the same issues.  And not just with Windows Phone 7, but with there baby Driod and iPhone as well.
What really ****** me off is that Verizon loves to play the blame game or pass the buck game.  Hard Reset your phone and that will solve the problem...  Yeah Right.  If this was our OS and we updated a driver that changed the OS in the background I can see that being the solution.  But for the 100's or 1000's of users that go to work daily, check there emails and text daily, and haven't changed one thing on the phone... THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!!
Now I read an articile for someone extermely close to Microsoft stating that Verizon turned down Nokia's new 4GLTE phone because they have no faith in the operating system and I have to think that maybe behind the scenes Verizon is trying to force us off Windows Phone 7 platform with data issue behind the scene and try to get us all into the Droid Platform which they make 50% of the cash off the phone just like the iPhone...
This is a joke, and I am really starting to think about going to ATT and getting the HTC Titan or the new Nokia 900.  I have already research a 3 party app that will allow you to backup and restore your phone.  And just read that Microsoft just put out an ad for backup, restore and cloud backup programmers for this latest feature.
Verizon the games need to stop, Verizon you need to stand behind this Platform, Verizon you need to provide better service for all us 3G users!!!

Hello guys I have a question,or rather a problem. how can I detach yourself iPhone operator Verizon USA? I mean as to call and what to say? I live in Ukraine, and the opportunity came up for to buy cheap 4S 16GB. but on Verizon. when I insert the original SIM card Verizon and I try to activate, says: (error occurred activation, if this problem happen again please call at +1................). this is the hour to use it through the R-SIM 9 pro. everything works нормальнои calls and Internet and SMS, but I want to officially unlock. beforehand thank you

Well, you managed to find this support forum didn't you and you have an internet connection don't you?  Then if you have all these things, go and find the number by going to the Verizon website and it should not be hard to find the number.
As for speaking English, this is not really our problem and it is surely something that you should have thought about before buying the phone in the first place.
You also need to know that Verizon in the US is a cdma operator and if you purchased an iPhone 4s, then it should not be locked.  The Verizon 4s comes with a sim card tray that should be unlocked out of the box for use internatinoally on gsm networks, so all you should need to do is open the sim card tray and insert a sim card and you should pick up the local gsm network.
A cdma phone does not actually use a sim card, so there would be no original sim card with the phone because when it is used in the US it will pick up the Verizon cdma network without a sim card.  The sim card is only for use on a gsm network which will not work in the US, but is designed to work outside the US.  Open the sim card tray and insert your own local sim card and the phone should work and should not be locked.
Other than this, if you purchased the phone in the first place, it is the responsibility of the previous owner to cancel the Verizon contract.  This is nothing to do with you, so contact the seller and ask them.
Other wise, go to the Verizon website and look up the number and call them.  As they are the phone company, ultimately, they are the only ones who can help you.
