ISDN dial-up hangs when I play a CD (Win XP Pro)

I experience a constant problem where:
- once I've "dialed up" and connected to my ISP, using my internal PCI ISDN (WB6692)
- I try to play a music CD from my CD ROM drive (BCD 48SB),
then my internet connection hangs after a few seconds and I can't make any connections of any sort.  I have to shutdown my machine in order to disconnect or stop the hung application (which I can't ID in the process list), and even then my machine doesn't shutdown properly (The "connections tray" doesn't seem to respond to a shutdown, and I have to manually reboot my machine.
I have all the latest drivers (from LiveUpdate 2).
My machine setup: AMD XP 2100+,  KT3- Ultra-2R (MS-6380E), KT333 running on Windows XP Pro SP1.
I'd appreciate any advice anyone could give me.

  • Problem with program hanging randomly on certain commands from win 7 pro client to SB Server

Having a problem with program hanging randomly on certain commands from Win-7 Pro Client to SB Server Both 64-Bit
Five other slower XP-Pro 32 Bit systems though they are older and slower systems do not seem to hang as readily if at all.
It has been very frustrating as the Client-System, SB-Server and Program should work w/o any hitches, but this seems to work fine @ times and then hang randomly.
Would appreciate any and all suggestions in assisting.... JimBAgde-MSS

You can try this, as I have had similar problems with another MS Access .MDB file and slow access before. This fixed my problem for me. On the slow computer, make sure the program is set to see the .mdb file via UNC path, not a mapped drive letter. ex.
    USE:  \\yourserver\shared\dental\file.mdb
    DO NOT: S:\\shared\dental\file.mdb
    hope this helps

  • Unable to play games on win xp pro

im using win xp pro and i successfully installed midtown madness 2 but when i click play, it say the cd-rom is not detected. what could be the problem? I'm using TDK 1616DLN dvd writer with msi k8n neo2 platinum

The original Midtown madness had this problem with some CD drives. (never worked on my samsung)
They made a patch for it, and I see they do for Midtown Madness 2.
It doesn't say it will fix the no CD error (yes this is an error with the legit copy) but it might be worth a try.
MS know the problem exists (I had a long chat with them on the phone years ago) but don't seem to want to fix it.
I seem to recall them pointing me towards a patch for Encarta, that also has this error with some drives. (same security / same fix?)
Updating your CD / DVD firmware might also help.
There are other ways over this, but they are best not posted on a public forum.
    Also have a look here.
Please insert the correct CD-ROM" error message or the game stops responding on the "Loading" screen
    Note
Your CD-ROM drive is not compatible with the program.

  • Acrobat 8.1.2 hangs when printing from IE 7  under XP Pro x64

    Hey Community,
my Acrobat Standard 8.1.2 and my Internet Explorer 7.05.... hang up when printing. Im running XP Pro x64 recent version.
The other features printing from word or scanning do work well.
Has somebody an idea how to fix that bug ?
    Thanks Frederik
Funny thing - I just tested it out to describe the situation better:
    First test:
I used the embedded printing icon in the toolbar and printing worked fine with www.FTD.de. Adobe did print eather already started or by automatic start on print icon. It worked several times in a row. But often Homepages are not scaled, so only part of the page was on the paper, because there is no option use the properties. Once Adobe opened I saw a new feature that I have downloaded some Multimedia features with the document and if I would like to listen to them.
    Second Test:
I did the same job with using the File/Print command, set adobe as printer
and the job hang up in this version. But to say, it is the internet explorer which hangs up. I couldn't minimize the window, IE was just freezed. After terminating IE via task manager the Adobe window of defining the files name showed up, but the process does not finish (X IE)
After opening IE I tried to run Test1 with the still running Acobat but I got en error message from Adobe. After closing and starting Acrobat again the Test1 process worked fine without problem and without prior restart of the machine.
I also tested this with Kapersky deactivated to make sure that the Multiimedia Content does not cause the trouble, but no changes I.E. just
    hangs up.
    Has somebody an idea?
    Frederik

Problem solved. Does only happen with the Internet Explorer 32bit.
With Internet Explorer 64bit it doesn't happen.

  • "formatting Document" hangs when opening page in GLCS using XP Pro

I've just installed GoLive CS on a new computer running XP Pro, (4 gigs memory (really 3.5), Core2 Quad processor). My old computer's OS was W2K and it ran GLCS wthout any issues. With the new system, when opening a page from the site folder an "Open Document" window pops up with a message saying "formatting document." This window hangs, it won't close and the progress bar remains empty. It seems to be stuck.  The pop-up doesn't go away until GoLive is closed. This never happened when running under W2K on the old computer, it has only showed up since using XP Pro on the new computer.
Does anyone have a suggestion on where to start troubleshooting this issue. Obviously, I cannot work on my site until this litte quirk goes away. Your help is most appreciated.
    Carol

This is additional information I've discovered since posting the original message. It appears that the pop-up is a status window that shows the current task when working on a page. As mentioned in my original message, I never saw this when using the W2K OS, so I'm thinking it must be an XP related thing. How can I turn this off? I've been thru preferences and all the view settings, but have not found the key to getting rid of the status window, short of closing GoLive.
The attached image shows the pop-up window.
And thanks to Kate (if I remember correctly), I've signed up for the GoLive disucssion at Lasso and will post this question there once I figure out how to post queries.

  • When I play Minecraft on my Macbook Pro the whole computer freezes

After a bit of Minecraft on my Macbook Pro (the amount of time before the freeze is always different.  I can go hours without it freezing up but sometimes it freezes after ten minutes), the screen will get distorted and my computer becomes completely unresponsive.  The only thing I can o is force it to shut off and turn it back on.
This happened before, and then my hard drive was found to be bad, so I got a new one... now it is happening again, and I would love it if I didn't have to replace the hard drive again...
One of my Engineering friends thinks it might be my graphics card or the computer itself, another said he'd never, ever seen something like the problem I am having.  I'd like to know if there's something I can do to fix this problem.
My computer has a 2.8GHz Intel i7 duo-core processor and NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 512MB graphics card, if that is of any use to anyone who can help me.
On a side, slightly less annoying note, when I plug in my headphones, the volume stays constant no matter how many times I adjust the volume using the buttons on the keyboard or the icon on the top of the screen.  I have to go into the system preferences to change the volume.  Sometimes, when I unplug the headphones, the problem persists with the computer speakers.  Any ideas why this is happening or what I can do to fix it?

No one has any helpful tips?

  • Anyone else experiencing static "pops", "snaps" or "clicks" when clicking play or stop in Logic Pro X ?

I'm running a brand new 27 inch 3.4 GHz Intel core i7 iMac with 8 GB's RAM and Logic Pro X. A real irritating electrical "Snap" occurs every time I click the play or stop buttons or whenever I activate these buttons using the space bar. Is anyone else experiencing this? Is this a unique case or is this a concern to others as well. Botton line, how can I fix it? I never experienced this using Logic Pro 9.

Hah... thanks Pancenter! Sorry I left out some details about my situation. I've just migrated all my Logic 9 files/projects et cetera, from my old iMac to my new one. All I'm doing at this stage is monitoring my old work on my new iMac to continue my work using the build-in audio iMac speakers and/or head phone outputs. I'll emphasis that I'm only monitoring my previously recorded projects.
However, I'm just discovering that it is only the tracks where I have added a Channel EQ with the a strong gain asym turned up turned on. These tracks appear to be the culprits. In the case of aother tracks with no or normal EQ there is no "Clicking" or "Popping".
    Thanks for your input!

  • SOLUTION (Potential) iTunes Hangs when Connecting iPhone or iPad - Win 7 64 bit

Ever since upgrading to Windows 7 64 bit, I have had an issue with iTuneshanging EVERY TIME when I connect my iPhone 4 or iPad 2 (iTunes Version on myPC is 10.2.2.12) - it will not respond until I disconnect the device theniTunes works again, until a plug in a device..... very frustrating as I can'tsync my devices.
I may have found a solution online and present it here in hopes that ithelps others with this issue (And based on a Google search, there are MANY,MANY others having the same issue).
"Run iTunes "As Administrator" every time you openit. - To do this, right click on the iTunes icon on the desktop and choose"Run As Administrator" - you should only need to do this once and itwill remember the setting."
I did this and now when I launch iTunes from the Desktop Icon Windows givesa pop-up saying "Are you sure you want to run this program asAdministrator" - I just say yes and iTunes opens, it recognizes my devicesand syncs without any issues, I have been running like this for 6 days nowsyncing both devices multiple times without issue.
    Hope this helps.

    Thanks, it certainly does.
My iTunes has this exact problem with my 3GS, which only started since the last itunes / iOS upgrade.
Initially I got it working by changing the sync cable's usb port, but this isn't very reliable.
    Your solution however works perfectly.

  • When I play minecraft my computer gets loud and hot.

When I play minecraft on my macbook pro, my computer's fan turns on which is very loud, and also my computer gets hot.  Normally this wouldn't be a problem but I make Minecraft Youtube videos and it sounds bad in the video.

Sometimes this happens when the computer has to do a lot of work.... What I mean by that is if you have other applications open or applications that are running it has to work minecraft which you are in and the other apps that are running.... To prevent this from happening is when you are playing Minecraft only have like 1 or 2 apps open in the background at a time and none running then the fans don't have to kick in and make the computer get hot. This has happened to me and I did exactly this and it stopped after the first try of doing it.
    Hope this helps,

  • 60fps Go Pro Footage playing at 30fps on Premier Pro?

When I start a new sequence to match my footage I get:
For editing clips recorded in AVC-Intra 100 codec.
16:9 progressive 720p HD video at 59.94 frames per second.
    48kHz audio.
    General
    Editing mode: AVC-Intra 100 720p 60Hz
    Timebase: 59.94fps
Right now, when I play the clip in premier pro, the video plays at 30fps. The audio is unaffected and plays normally so it finishes before the clip ends.
Is this correct? Or how can I get the playback to be 60fps? I read in the book Final Cut Pro Workflows: The Independent Studio Handbook that "when discussing hi-def formats, 60 can refer to 60 frames per second or 60 fields per second," where 60
fields per second = 30 frames per second interlaced (is that right?). But, my footage is progressive so why do I see playback at 30 frames per second?
Any help breaking this down for me would be much appreciated. I'm new to video editing.
    -Justin

I did both just now and they both produced the same result. I get the same result even if I don't adjust the sequence settings by choosing "Keep Existing Settings."
The only way I have found to fix it is to "unlink" the audio and video and then increase the clip speed / duration to 200%. But, I just feel like I shouldn't have to do any of that at all...

  • When shutting down Win XP Pro I get a message

When trying to shut down Win XP Pro I get the message having to do with BdDevMgrDeviceListener, and will not end program without manual delete or click on End Program, how do I fix that?

I have the same problem. XP Pro user. I only see the device detector activate when I use desktop manager. After I'm through with the Desktop Manager, the device detector is still running. I usually go into task manager and delete the process.
    Hope this helps!

  • XP hangs when I try to play a .mov file

Windows XP consistently hangs when I try to play a .mov file using QuickTime 7.4.1. There is no way to regain control of the system without powering off the computer. I've seen a number of postings indicating that people who have RAID disk systems are having similar problems, but I have an ordinary EIDE drive. Also, my .mov files are typically small (less than 40 MB). Device manager shows that all devices are working, and I've made sure that I have the latest graphics and sound drivers installed. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

    Dear Mr. NovJoe,
    Thank you for your replay.
Around 4.5 Hours, I left my PC do the test and I go to finish some business outside my home.
Is it true that the cards that have nVidia chipset only work with games certified from nVidia? And is it true that the cards that have ATi chipset only work with games certified from ATi?
And I'm sorry to ask these questions - I know that are silly questions, but when I took my PC to the maintenance they told that I only can play with any game that ATi certified.
Again thank you for your effort.
No, that's not true. Games can be run by any ATI or nVidia cards. Don't be taken by those silly remarks.

I did the first part by replace my GPU with another on my system and it worked smoothly, but I did not test my GPU on another system because I didn't found anyone can handle my GPU card. So, I took my system and my GPU card to the maintenance to fix my problem.
I think the GPU is problematic, test it in another system to double confirm. If the GPU is confirmed to be faulty, RMA the GPU for a replacement. Let us know when the replacement is back .
