Welcome to Discussions, john cristobal
For any iSight problems, first try restarting the Mac. If the problems persist, try all relevant suggestions from:
  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090
If your iSight problem still occurs in more than one app and more than one user account, the reset suggested there often restores proper function of inbuilt iSight.
However, if your built-in iSight still does not work after carefully following all the suggestions in the "How to Troubleshoot iSight" article, and if iSight does not show as a USB hardware device in your Mac's System Profiler utility, yours is most likely a hardware problem. In that case, contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service.

I can't see any camera in my Mac preferences …

There are no iSight "settings" per say on the Mac.  The preferences/settings are in the video app(s) you are using when in use.
If you are having problems while using Skype, you need to post in their forums and read their support articles and FAQs.

My isight built in camera is only turning on for few second on my MacBook Pro (13-inch, Late 2011 with osx Yosemite) when I use any camera needed app. Please help me. Its getting a little annoying.

If restarting Mac or reinstalling OS X does not correct this symptom, you likely have a hardware problem.  Contact Apple Support or an Apple Authorized Service Provider for service.

  • Controlling Access to Build In Camera & Microphone

Is there a way to control which application has access to the build in camera and microphone?
    Thanks in advance
    Jim

Thanks for your reply, Leopard Pagan, but my question goes into another direction: What if an application does make use of the build in camera without telling my so as to spy on me, for example?
I know there is a small light that is supposed to warn me that the camera is on. But it might be overlooked or nobody is sitting in front of the computer or maybe it can be turned off while the camera is still on.
So, what I am looking for basically is a way to control which application can make use of the camera/microphone, and I have'nt found one yet. Maybe there is none at the time, but then hopefully someone finds one soon.
    Regards
    Jim

  • ISight Built in Camera on iMovie09 and speed problem. Please Help

    Hello,
I recently installed imovie09 after using imovie06 for quite sometime. I am getting two problems for now. First, when my videos from iPhoto got imported to iMovie, the audio is working fine but the actual clip is skipping. Is this normal? For me to able to fix it, I have to go to clip adjustment and do convert clip all the time. This is really annoying specially My video will consist at least 7 clips. Is there any other way? Second, I tried to use the isight built in camera so it can be only one clip. I noticed that when I was filming, my audio and my actual video is not on the right timing and when its time for me to save it and play it back, it was skipping also! I recorded 1 minute video and it will only play for 12 seconds! To top it off, it's not the first 12sec of the video but it's actually skipping through out the one minute clip I did.
Can anyone please help me with this situation. I will very much appreciate it. I don't want to end up regretting that I upgraded to imovie09 only to find out things will be much complicated
    Thanks,
    Ashtoush

    Hello Ashtoush
As you now know, iMovie '09 work differently than our iMovie HD 6.
Although your iMovie '09 offers many improvements over the previous iMovie '08 version, the older version imports the same way your iMovie version does, i.e., differently from iMovie HD 6.
User Jon Walker gives a complete explanation of your problem and offers workable solutions in this iMovie '08 forum thread:
      http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1134921
It seems you will have to convert your existing clips using one of the methods detailed there.
For future video clips, you may want to choose a different video capture device that is more compatible with your new iMovie so you will not need to do separate conversion.
For Apple Help on importing into your new iMovie, take a look at the suggestions here:

    And Welcome to Apple Discussions!
I'm not sure what your problem is.
Does the iSight built in camera work at all? Or just not in PhotoBooth? Can you give us some detail on how it "Earlier it worked after re-installation..."?
Also, in order to help you better, please post some more information on your computer connection to the internet and if you have routers, cable-modem or DSL, speed of your connection.

  • ISight vs Digital Camera

Hi All The Apple user !
I'm looking for a way to use a digital camera instead of the build in iSight.
Or, find the way to transfer my camera live screen to my iMac.
And my digital camera is Nikon CoolPIX S500
Does anyone know Is there any line or software can figure it out ?
Thanks in advance for your answer !
    BenNovello

    Not Directly.
My Kodak DC4800 of some vintage now outputs a PAL or NTSC TV signal and this can go through my DV converter over Firewire and iChat can see it.
It actually cuts the feed to the Cameras Screen som I am not worried about burn out of the screen.
(On mine there is no Audio feed)
The Cable I have has a very small 2.5mm jack at one end and RCA connector for the Converter's end.
I have done similar in the past with an Analogue Camcorder.
My DV Converter has though, given up the ghost.
New ones seem to be USB 2.0 and I have not tried one.
Essentially it is about whether the camera you have has any sort of Video output rather than tapping into the Feed to the Screen.
And the Cost of a Converter

  • I think i deleted my Isight and my camera isn't working.  How do I fix it?

I deleted my isight i think and now i cant get my camera to work at all.  Can i fix it myself or do i have to bring it into the apple store?

I assume you mean Photo Booth.  If so check with Spotlight to see if it still exists.  If not you'll have to dust off your OS installation disks.  Go to FINDER>HELP and enter reinstall in the upper right hand corner.  Look at the Help Topics and select the applicable one and follow the instructions.  You do not have to do a complete install.  Good luck.
    Ciao.

  • How to permantly change from iSight to USB Cam

    Hi,
I have recently bought a new Creative HD Webcam, I can easily change this to become my default camera on iChat and Photobooth - no problem.
My problem arises on sites like Chatreoulette and Omegle, where it requires acceptance of Adobe Flash which is fine - but does not allow me the option to change the camera and automatically defaults to iSight which is very frustrating.
    Can anyone assist?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
That sounds like a USB 2.0  Camera (which would be UVC Compliant) connected via a Keyboad with only USB 1.1 version ports.

If resetting your SMC ( http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1411 ) does not help, try the following in the order below:
    (1) If you "deleted" by dragging things to trash on your own, the first thing I suggest you try is to see if customer support or the documentation for the non-Apple Software you installed has an actual uninstaller or specific uninstall instructions. If it does, you may need to reinstall the software in order to allow the uninstaller to work properly. After you have carefully followed the uninstall instructions, restart your Mac, use Disk Utilities to repair permissions, and test to see if your problem is solved.
    (2) If not, or if you can find NO help on how to properly uninstall the software that caused your problem, restore your Mac's hard disk from the backup that you made immediately before installing "hellokitty digi cam."
    (3) If you do not already have such a backup, backup all your MacBook's (MB's) important info now, erase your MB's hard disk, and reinstall its OS and applications software. Then, restore your data from your backup.
The last option will be a lot of work, but it should get rid of your MB's cat allergy.
Please let us know how it goes and what works. We will watch for your status update.

  • ISight Built-in camera on MacBook stopped working

    Hello,
It seems that my iSight camera stopped working after the system update two days ago. I checked several solutions (like reset of SMC, creating other test account...) however this does not solve the issue. I also checked the system profiler and there is simply no iSight mentioned there (in the USB group). I don't have green screen when I launch the Photo Booth, it just shows the black frame with a white sign of no camera available. Same with Skype. I think the system (Leopard) just lost or does not recognize the camera anymore. Could someone come with an idea of fixing it please?
    Thanks a lot in advance,

    Welcome to Apple Discussions, Yashper
If you have not done so recently, repair permissions (not "verify") and try using your iSight again.
If your problem persists, be sure you have tried all the suggestions relevant to your system from How to Troubleshoot iSight.
If your iSight is still not working or visible in System Profiler as a USB device when you have selected the items shown in this picture,
download and reapply the Mac OS X 10.5.1 Update. Repair permissions before you run the updater and again immediately following the restart that finishes the update.
If none of these things fix your problem, (and if you have not made any other software or hardware changes that might be causing the problem), contact your retailer, Apple, or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service.
