Isn't it time Firefox blocked Pop Unders as they hi-jack the actual browser

Pop Unders, NOT Pop Ups, hi-jack the Firefox browser when they load up. When I close the window with the pop Under, the whole Firefox browser closes. I would have thought that Firefox would be annoyed at this as the Pop Under advert has taken over control of the browser.

What is the web address? What is on the pop?
It could be the work of one of your add-ons, or even add / mal-ware.
Look thru your add-ons list and make sure you know what each one is
and what it does. Also, check the programs that are on your computer
'''Windows:''' Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs.
'''Mac:''' Open the "Applications" folder
'''Linux:'''
* [http://www.freesoftwaremagazine.com/articles/see_all_your_installed_applications_ubuntu_unity Ubuntu Unity]''' {web link}
* Xfce: Applications Menu category sections
* options depends on the package manager and the desktop environment
Go thru the list. If you find something that you don't
know what it is, use a web search.

  • Why won't Firefox block pop-ups even though configured to do so?

    I have the browser set up to block pop-ups. It blocks the pop-ups from my bank even though I have repeatedly made that page "allowed" but allows subscription pop-ups on dozens of pages. Nearly all of these sub pop-ups force me to close them to see the page it hides. How can I actually block those annoying actions?

    Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
    You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

  • Safari not blocking 'pop unders'

    I have the pop-up blocker on in Safari, but when I go to shut down Safari I get a message that there are (at least) two windows open and do I really want to quit. More often than not, the extra windows that are open are a NetFlix pop under, or one for screensavers. What gives-shouldn't the pop up blocker take care of this?

  • Automatically cr. block Sales Order once they reach within the Cr. Horizon

    How to automatically credit block Sales order made outside the Cr. Horizon, once they reach into the Cr. horizon.
    I have tried testing the same through Program RVKRED08, but it works for some orders if the Cr. horizon is maintained for 60days.
    But does not block if the Cr. horizon is maintained for 30days.
    Thanks in Advance

    if you specify horizon date, the system consider al the values
    which falls under this date. the system will not take into account if the values fall after the horizon date.
    EX: if you specify horizon date 2 months. Then system consider the open values which falls with in two months. if
    the value fall after the two months, the system ill not take into account.
    If your horizion date is 30 days and shcedule line date is in 30 days, system will check credit managemnt and blocks or unblocks.

  • Make firefox handle URLs from other applications, when not the default browser

    I know there is a preference for this SOME WHERE because I saw it. Now I want to change it.
    I want to toggle whether clicking on a URL in some other app (like my email) will be handled by the Macintosh Default Browser (Safari) or by Firefox

    Only the default browser can handle links automatically.<br />
    That is handled by the OS and can't be affected otherwise.
    If you do not want to change to default browser to Firefox then you need to drag the link in a Firefox window or otherwise open the link in the preferred browser.

  • When Firefox blocks an automatic redirect, can I see the address the site wants to redirect to?

    I have the "Warn me when websites try to redirect ir reload the page" box checked under the general tab in Advanced Options. Frequently I get the pop-up bar that informs me "Firefox prevented this page from automatically redirecting to another page." If I don't allow the redirect in most cases the site works fine although sometimes the site will no open unless I click allow. I want to see where the site is trying to send me, is there a way to do this?

    Maybe an add on can do this, however there are also third party tools that do this: [http://www.internetmarketingninjas.com/blog/seo-tools/trace-control-redirect-paths/]

  • Firefox keeps popping up when i'm working on another browser .!

    ''locking - duplicate - https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/862562''
    Keep on having this issue, it goes ok for a while and then every now and then when I go to minimize the browser it keeps popping back up and keep minimizing and keeps happening again and again. I have stopped the process using task manager and then reopened browser and still happens, gets quite annoying

    I noticed this after I had installed the Bosskey add-in. Then I deactivated it, the problem still persisted.
    There are two setting in about:config that refer to bosskey, I just reset those two and the problem went away.
    If you have not used Bosskey then it is another cause.

  • Firefox 'opens' but doesn't/won't open an actual browser window?

    Firefox Beta 4 has crashed out on me several times, but since the most recent crash Firefox will 'open,' but doesn't actually open a new browser window. Even if I go to the menu and manually select "new window" it doesn't do so. Nor can I submit comments under the "Firefox Makes Me Happy/Sad because..." tabs. It's simply not opening new windows. When I go to the force-quit window, it doesn't show up as hanging, however. Two close outs of Firefox, and two restarts of the computer have not resolved the issue.
    Most recent attempt to generate a new browser window generated the following error codes:

    Try running Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If it functions properly in that configuration, one of your add-ons is the culprit.

  • Firefox Developer's edition lunches as a background proccess and doesn't lunch the actual browser

    Hello,
    I've been using firefox developer's edition for a few months now (1~2) and one day I tried to open the browser i just didn't open. The interaction is as follows :
    Double-click the ff dev's icon
    a very short change in the cursor to a loading state
    ff dev's is added in the task manager as a background task
    the browser never opens
    I have tried unistalling it and istalling it again clearing all temp files etc no change
    I run on a i7 @ 3.4 GHz - 12 GB Ram system with win 8.1 so probably memory issues are crossed out
    As a backgroung task ff dev's takes up to 200MB of Ram and after a few seconds stabilises at 190MB
    The exact same problem apeared the same time to my laptop too. It's a Dell Latitude E6510 (i5 - 4GB)

    Ok. I have narrowed down the problem. It's one of the add-ons. When I deactevated all the add-ons (with ccleaner) and THEN deleted the parnet.lock file(s) both Firefox standard and dev edition astarted up normally. I will look in to the exact add-on in a few days (a week maybe). A list with the add-ons I turned off :
    * Adblock Plus (Wladimir Palant)
    * ChatZilla (The ChatZilla Team)
    * Logitec SetPoint (Logitec Inc.)
    * MEGA (Mega Limited)
    * Sitebar client for Firefox 4.0.x (Bas Burger and the SiteBar Team)
    * Google Update (Google Inc.)
    '''EDIT :'''
    And just as I hit post I start trying to narrow it down to the problematic add-on and I get it with the first hit :P
    The problem was cause by :
    Sitebar client for Firefox 4.0.x (Bas Burger and the SiteBar Team)

  • Just upgraded to firefox 3.6.12 and i am sorry. the new browser version keeps crashing! seems to especially dislike Netzero, but crashes on other sites also. Gmail seems to be stable.

    just upgraded computer to '''windows xp''' - figured i'd upgrade firefox to newest version - that's when the trouble started
    again, Netzero is especially volatile - keeps crashing in the middle of viewing files, sending files, accessing pages, etc. etc. - and
    and once again, gmail seems ot be stable
    not sure what other details to include
    was never queried to send information to Mozilla - i did send an error report to microsoft

  • I cannot get Firefox to save my "iPlayer favourites" selections. The IE browser works fine, I suspect its a setting but I cannot discover it!!

    Using the BBC iPlayer, I try to select radio programmes to my "iPlayer Radio Favourites" section of the iPlayer. It doesn not save them, it is always empty. However the IE8 and 9 browsers do it quite happily.

    A change in version 7 of Firefox which has been made to improve the security of the browser and is related to cross domain scripting vulnerabilities has had the unfortunate side-effect of breaking the favourites functionality in iPlayer. The iPlayer development team are currently working on a way to rectify the situation and can only apologise for the inconvenience caused.
