Issue in Conversion of String to XML (xsd) elements.

Hi All,
Please help in resolving the below issue.Please help me ASAP
I am getting a strng value from Db adapter String= Mike,3453,USA
I need to convert the data into xml by using below xsd.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding='UTF-8' ?>
<schema xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
targetNamespace="http://www.uss.com/htr/IHCM204/MainRec"
xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
elementFormDefault="qualified"
xmlns:nxsd="http://xmlns.oracle.com/pcbpel/nxsd"
xmlns:tns="http://www.uss.com/htr/IHCM204/MainRec"
attributeFormDefault="unqualified" nxsd:version="NXSD"
nxsd:stream="chars" nxsd:encoding="US-ASCII">
<element name="MainOutput">
<complexType>
<sequence>
<element name="Target" maxOccurs="unbounded">
<complexType>
<sequence>
<element name="name" type="string" nxsd:style="terminated" nxsd:terminatedBy="," />
<element name="sal" type="string" nxsd:style="terminated" nxsd:terminatedBy="," />
<element name="add" type="string" nxsd:style="terminated" nxsd:terminatedBy="," />
</sequence>
</complexType>
</element>
</sequence>
</complexType>
</element>
</schema>
Regards,
Ana

Say, for Example
If you are getting response from db adapter as abc,def,ghi then use an transform activity to split the string.
<xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" xmlns:oraext="http://www.oracle.com/XSL/Transform/java/oracle.tip.pc.services.functions.ExtFunc">
<xsl:template match="/">
<ns:StringParsing>
<ns:Name>
<xsl:value-of select='substring(/ns:simpleelement/ns:dbString,1.0, oraext:last-index-within-string(/ns:simpleelement/ns:dbString,",") + 0.0)'/>
</ns:Name>
<ns:Address>
<xsl:value-of select='substring(/ns:simpleelement/ns:dbString,oraext:last-index-within-string(/ns:simpleelement/ns:dbString,",") + 2.0)'/>
</ns:Address>
</ns:StringParsing>
</xsl:template>
</xsl:stylesheet>
Let me know if it helps you.

  • Conversion of string into XML object

    Hi
    I am having some problems with conversion of string (containing XML data) into Flex XML object and binding it later to UI elements to output/maintain this data.
    Binding of XML structure to UI elements works perfectly fine if I will do following:
    1)      Hardcode XML object within Flex file
    2)      Read xml file from repository (xml file inside the Flex project)
    3)      Use HTTP request to retrieve XML data
    Unfortunately none of the above scenarios suits my solution.
    I am developing a prototype application for processing Flex forms inside SAP system. I have decided to make data bindings using XML structure stored in Data Base. When rendering form inside web browser based application I am retrieving corresponding XML schema (empty for new forms and populated for saved forms) and pass it to Flex form as a string type import parameter. Data is being passed correctly (I can display it on TextArea control for instance) but after conversion to XML and binding to DataGrid I am not getting any results.
    I am converting string (containing XML) to XML object in following way:
    Private var xml_obj:XML = new XML(string_xml );
    I am catching any potential errors but conversion is going well. After conversion I am not getting any results after binding it to DataGrid control and I am not able to access any of the nodes using AS code either. At the same time variable xml_obj is not empty (not null).
    Any help would be much appreciated.

    David
    First of all sorry for not stating it clearly but I am using Flex 3 for this development (at the moment it is the only choice when embedding Flex objects inside SAP applications).
    You must have missed the bit where I am describing how this XML data finds its way inside Flex. I am passing it to Flex as String type parameter during rendering (directly from DB where it is stored).
    Now, following code works perfect (XML is embedded inside Flex project):
                    <mx:XML id="form_data" source="../assets/example_xml_data.xml"/>
                    <mx:Script>
                                    <![CDATA[
                                                    import mx.collections.XMLListCollection;
                                                    import mx.controls.Alert;
                                                    [Bindable]
                                                    public var XML_list:XMLListCollection;
                                                    private function setParameters():void
                                                                   XML_list = new XMLListCollection(form_data.*);
                                    ]]>
                    </mx:Script>
                    <mx:DataGrid id="myDataGrid" dataProvider="{XML_list}">
                                    <mx:columns>
                                                    <mx:DataGridColumn dataField="COMMON" headerText="Popular name"/>
                                                    <mx:DataGridColumn dataField="BOTANICAL" headerText="Botanical name"/>
                                                    <mx:DataGridColumn dataField="ZONE" headerText="Zone"/>
                                                    <mx:DataGridColumn dataField="LIGHT" headerText="Light"/>
                                                    <mx:DataGridColumn dataField="PRICE" headerText="Price"/>
                                                    <mx:DataGridColumn dataField="AVAILABILITY" headerText="Availability"/>
                                    </mx:columns>
                    </mx:DataGrid>
    But following code does not work (XML passed to Flex form as String input parameter):
    import sap.FlashIsland;
    import mx.controls.Alert;
    import mx.collections.XMLListCollection;
    [Bindable]
    public var xml_data:String;
    private var form_data:XML;
    [Bindable]
    private var XML_list:XMLListCollection;
    private function initApp():void
                    FlashIsland.register(this);
    private function setParameters():void
                    try
                                    form_data=new XML(xml_data);
                    catch (error:Error)
                                    Alert.show(error.toString());
                      XML_list = new XMLListCollection(form_data.*);
    XML string does find its way inside Flex form. I can display content of variable xml_data in TextArea and all looks fine. Conversion to XML (variable form_data) goes well (no error)
    Please helpJ

    Thanks in Advance

    Hello. You can't cast a string to an element, you need to create that element.
    Maybe this can help up: http://www.genedavis.com/library/xml/java_dom_xml_creation.jsp

  • Coversion of String to XML

    Hi,
    Is there any function or expression in BPEL/XSLT to achieve the conversion of string to xml?

    Use :   oraext:parseEscapedXML(contentString)

  • XSU error oracle.xml.sql.OracleXMLSQLException: Conversion to String failed

    Appication Server: 10g, Database: Oracle 9i and Oracle 10g
    I have a table 'sw_icd2' in the database that has one column of XMLType.
    The code below, attempts to query this table as 'select * from sw_icd2' and display the result. I was able to execute this query in sqlplus.
    But when I run a program using XSU in JDeveloper:
    OracleXMLQuery qry = new OracleXMLQuery(conn, "select * from sw_icd2");
    XMLDocument domDoc = (XMLDocument)qry.getXMLDOM();
    domDoc.print(System.out);
    StringWriter s = new StringWriter(10000);
    domDoc.print(new PrintWriter(s));
    System.out.println(s.toString());
    qry.close();
    I get the following Error:
    "oracle.xml.sql.OracleXMLSQLException: Conversion to String failed"
    Any ideas on how I can resolve this issue? Your help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Okay, it looks like the problem has something to do with the TIMESTAMP data type in tables.
    oracle.xml.sql.query.OracleXMLQuery can't seem to handle tables with the TIMESTAMP data type.
    this code ran fine on my machine :
    import oracle.jdbc.driver.*;
    import oracle.xml.sql.query.OracleXMLQuery;
    import java.lang.*;
    import java.sql.*;
    public class testXMLSQL {
         public static void main(String[] args) {
    try {
    // Create the connection
    System.out.println("before getConnection ");
    Connection conn = getConnection("scott","tiger");
    System.out.println("after getConnection ");
    // Create the query class
    OracleXMLQuery qry = new OracleXMLQuery(conn, "SELECT * FROM EMP");
    System.out.println("after OracleXMLQuery object created ");
    // Get the XML string
    String str = qry.getXMLString();
    // Print the XML output
    System.out.println("The XML output is:\n"+str);
    // Always close the query to get rid of any resources..
    qry.close();
    } catch(SQLException e) {
    System.out.println(e.toString());
    // Get the connection given the user name and password.!
    private static Connection getConnection(String username,
    String password)
    throws SQLException
    // register the JDBC driver..
    DriverManager.registerDriver(new
    oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
    // Create the connection using the OCI8 driver
    Connection conn =
    DriverManager.getConnection(
    "jdbc:oracle:thin:@<server_name>:1521:<sid>",
    username,password);
    return conn;
    Then I created another table :
    create table emp_test as select * from emp;
    added a timestamp to it :
    alter table emp_test add (time timestamp(6));
    and filled it with timestamp information :
    update emp_test set time = timestamp'2005-09-22 09:26:50.124';
    ran the same code but changed the SQL to :
    "SELECT * FROM EMP_TEST"
    and got the error message :
    The XML output is:
    <?xml version = '1.0'?>
    <ERROR>oracle.xml.sql.OracleXMLSQLException: Conversion to String failed</ERROR>
    looks like bug in OracleXMLQuery object??

  • String to XML conversion without fatal error?

    Can one of you tell me how to convert the folowing string to XML without fatal error?
    String s1 = "<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-6.0"?> <Main> <sub> 12345 </sub> </Main>".

    First, you can't have double quotes (") in a string like that, you need to do (\") instead. If you wrote the below line and saved the file as a file_name.xml It should work fine.
    import java.io.*;
    public class yourclass{
         public static void writeXML(){
              try{
                   File xmlOut = new File("file_name.xml");
                   BufferedWriter xmlWriter = new BufferedWriter(new FileWriter(xmlOut));
                   String s1 = "<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-6.0\"?> <Main> <sub> 12345 </sub> </Main>";
                   // you can concatenate the strings using a +
                   // the \n will create a new line in the file
                   String s2 = "<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-6.0\"?>" + "\n" +  "<Main> <sub> 12345 </sub> </Main>";
                   xmlWriter.write(s1);
                   xmlWriter.close();
              }catch(Exception ex){
                   ex.printStackTrace();
    }There are a few other ways to do this, the one above is sloppy. One is XStream to convert xml to Java objects and back again. http://xstream.codehaus.org/tutorial.html

  • Conversion of xml string to xml file

    To convert xml string to xml file in java i used
    Document XMLDoc=DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance().newDocumentBuilder().parse(new InputSource(new StringReader("<root><main>Title</main></root&g t;")));
    But it is showing an error as InputSource cannot be resolved
    How to rectify this

    I assume you mean there is a compiler error? (It helps if you explain your problem instead of just giving a vague description of it.) It sounds like you have to import InputSource. You do know about the import statements that go at the beginning of a Java class, don't you?

  • Converting Delimited string to XML message

    Hi,
    We are trying to convert pipe delimited string into a xml schema using a XSD and BPEL funtion. Consider a scenario in which message has 5 fields with last as 2 optional fields. So the incoming string message can be like "1|2|3" or "1|2|3|4|5". In this case how the XSD should look like, since for each field we have to give "terminatedby" option in the XSD. So the issue is coming for element 3 where the delimiter can be "|" or "eol" (end of line). How to specify that ? Is there any option to use like "optionally terminated by?"
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Hi Ramesh,
    You can use below XSD for input file of kind

  • Issue with Date format - ABAP to XML

    Dear Users,
    We are currently facing an issue with the date formats in XML.
    We have a system (.Net), which has a webservice that we are calling for information from SAP. We created a Proxy class in SAP from the WSDL file and have attempted to use the method that gets us required information based on the Timestamp passed from SAP. However, the timestamp that the INPUT structure uses has a data element XSDDATETIME_Z.
    All we can send from SAP is a simple TIMESTAMP, but the .Net system doesn't accept it since it wants the timestamp in XML format i.e. <dd-mm-yyyy>T<hh:mm:ss>Z. SAP documentation says that the field should automatically do conversion from ABAP to XML format, but that doesn't happen. We don't want to build a string from Timestamp in the XML format and send it out since we might surely miss out on the different cases involved.
    Can anyone please suggest a way for us to send the date out in the required XML format?
    Many thanks!

    Hi Vijay,
    Look at the below sample code and it works fine, i guess there is something wrong in your code or conversion, post the actual code if you are still not able figure it out with the below example.
    DATA: l_xml_string TYPE string,
          l_dat_time TYPE xsddatetime_z.
    CALL FUNCTION 'CACS_DATE_GET_TIMESTAMP'

    IF sy-subrc <> 0.
    * MESSAGE ID SY-MSGID TYPE SY-MSGTY NUMBER SY-MSGNO
    *         WITH SY-MSGV1 SY-MSGV2 SY-MSGV3 SY-MSGV4.
    ENDIF.
    CALL TRANSFORMATION id
      SOURCE root = l_dat_time
      RESULT XML l_xml_string.
    IF sy-subrc EQ 0.
    write: l_xml_string.

  • SAP Soamanager WSDL generates n0:string instead of xsd:string in 7.3

    I´m using the Soamanager to create a Service for a Enterprise Service
    Provider. The web service is generated based on a custom function
    module. My intention is to consume a soap webservice via .net
    application. Actually this works fine with the legacy BW 7.0 system.
    But after we migrate the web service to the new BW 7.3 system, the web service interface is changed.
    I have taken a look at the generated WSDL-file from Soamanager, the soamanager
    generates the different type for string parameters. The
    Import/Export parameter should be of type xsd:string, but it is
    actually n0:string. but i need xsd:string for soap.
    I´ve tried several datatypes in function module, e.g string,
    char,....but always the same...n0:string instead of xsd:string.
    Can you help on how to change the sting type in wsdl?
    Thanks,

    How about a slight change to the xsd? Try with the following, it seems to work fine:
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <xsd:schema xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
       <xsd:element name="Orders" type="Orders"/>
       <xsd:complexType name="Orders">

    =IIF(Fields!EmpHireDate.Value = "00000000","00000000",Format(CDATE(MID(Fields!EmpHireDate.Value,1,4) + "/" + MID(Fields!EmpHireDate.Value,5,2) + "/" + MID(Fields!EmpHireDate.Value,7,2)),"dd/MM/yyyy"))
    Also tried this:
    =IIF(Fields!EmpHireDate.Value = "00000000","2000/10/21",Format(CDATE(MID(Fields!EmpHireDate.Value,1,4) + "/" + MID(Fields!EmpHireDate.Value,5,2) + "/" + MID(Fields!EmpHireDate.Value,7,2)),"dd/MM/yyyy"))
    Please Suggest.
    Thanks ,

  • XML string to XML parsing in JCD

    I have stored an XML file as a CLOB in the Oracle DB. While fetching this data into JCD using Oracle OTD, I am getting this CLOB field as a string containing the XML. Now I want to parse this XML string to XML, as I need to map the individual fields to an XSD OTD, which will be my output.
    Kindly suggest a way to achieve this.

    An XSD OTD has an unmarshalFromString() method:
    inputFormat.unmarshalFromString( strData );
    When putting the XML into the CLOB it could be a good idea to wrap an outputstream into a Writer object in order to make certain that the encoding is correct, depending how the data is represented. When retrieving CLOB data using getCharacterStream() you will get a Reader object where the encoding is already given.

  • String to XML in ESB

    Hi,
    i need to convert a string which of XML format to XML..Can it be done in ESB without java embedding.Any inbuilt parsers available?
    -venkat

    Hi,
    I am facing similar problem in using parseEscapedXML in ESB. I have an source "tns:InRequest" which is of String type but internally it contains an XML message compliant to an XSD complex Type element.
    <xsd:element name="OutRequest" type="OutRequestType"/>
    <xsd:complexType name="OutRequestType">
    <xsd:sequence>
    <xsd:element name="name" type="xsd:string"/>
    <xsd:element name="value" type="xsd:string" />
    </xsd:sequence>
    </xsd:complexType>
    So I am trying to use parseEscapedXML api to get the DOM object and assign it to OutRequest element of the target.
    Can you please help or guide me how to get this working?
    Thx..
