Issue in Regional Settings in creating Multilingual sites

Hi,
I am using SharePoint 2013 Standard edition(June CU update) and facing an issue with multi-lingual sites.
I have custom web templates with which sites are created. The current template which I am using in inheriting from Team site template.
However, when I create a site with a different locale I am encountering java-script errors which is manifesting as different errors. A few errors I can list are
Not able to delete a web-part on the home page
The task list is not editable
The js error is specifically coming in sp.ui.timeline.js (_spRegionalSettings undefined). I have attached the snapshot below
On changing the locale in regional settings everything works fine.
To confirm this issue is not with my custom web template I have tried the same thing on OOB Team site template. I created a Swedish language site and also changed my browser language to Swedish. Still the same error persists.
I have attached my regional settings for reference.
Is this a bug in SharePoint or does anybody have a workaround for this?

The issue is different. In Some of the European languages, dot(.) is represented as comma(,). If you see the HTML source, you will see the JS breaks while initializing '_spRegionalSettings' variable.
var _spRegionalSettings={adjustHijriDays:0,calendarType:1,firstDayOfWeek:0,firstWeekOfYear:0,localeId:1031,currentDateInLocalCalendar: new Date(2014, 0, 3),showWeeks:0,timeZone:'05:29:59.9999851',timeZoneInHours:5,5,workDayEnd:1020,
The regional setting values are like- key:value, key:value, ...
But... since all European countries has non-decimal time zone, we are safe. Still I am not sure if this issue can occur for some other country where decimal time zone meets dot-comma situation.

    Our issue:
all sites in the site collection had local regional settings. index columns were in use. in order to change each site regional settings we need to first disable index colums.
suddenly the farm administrators forced a policy that set all site collection to english regional settings. what happens to sites that were forced to change regional settings.
we use infopath form based solution and there was strange change in behaviour as a result. but this is not an issue for this thread.
are index colums still ok after the forced change?
can we force back the site collection/farm regional settings back to local and all is ok?
should we disable and enable again all index colums?
how is it that site change does not allow regional settings change and farm/site collection change allows it?
    thanks in advance!

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that SharePoint 2010 (SP2010 SP1+ AU CU 2011) site built with Project Web Access template shows warning "Your Local Machine Time Zone does not match your current Sharepoint Regional Settings".
Users are getting this message even after correctly specifying and changing the timezone in their Sharepoint Settings. This is a common problem across the net, but we've found a workaround
    that will eliminate this problem.
Step 1: Open your Web Database in your Browser
Step 2: Click the Arrow Under the Login ID (upper right corner)
    Step 3: Choose My Settings
Step 4: Click the My Regional Settings Link
Step 5: Uncheck the 'Always Follow Web Settings' check and specify your time zone.
    Step 6: Click OK

  • How to create a multilingual site which has Custom UI elements

    Hi
I have to create a multilingual site which has custom UI elements.
Like- custom top navigation where navigation items comes from a custom list. How to translate these custom elements?
Also how to make manual translation of content an easy process(when we create variation site)?
    regards, Ritesh Anand

When you create a varation of source site, It will just create a normal replica of site with custom master applied to it.
If the Changes are done on Master page it will automatically apply to destination site. Once normal site is create. you need to publish the Document library so it replicated to destination.  Also use Relative URL in Javascript and CSS where ever required.

  • Project Server 2013 - Project Site Provisioning Settings - Do not create a site

    Hi,
The Project Site Provisioning Setting "Do not create a site" prevents a site from being created when a project is published. This works, but it still prompts the user with a dialog each time a project is published. In 2007 and 2010, the only
way to prevent this dialog was to deny Manage SharePoint Foundation. In 2010, denying this permission does not have the same effect. Is there any way to keep this dialog from being displayed?
    Thanks,
    Erik
    Erik RHS

    Hi Erik,
As far as I know, if you deny the "Manage SharePoint Foundation" permission with Project Server
2010, it does remove the dialog box (see this excellent
blog post). Note that you'll get warning messages in the Queue with Job State - 'Failed but
    blocking correlation'.
I remember that Paul Mather, a fellow MVP, created
a macro with custom publish button (the macro suppressed the dialog box).
    Hope this helps,

  • Regional settings is not effecting in SQL Server

    Hi All,
I made changes to the regional and language (made decimal = ,) of the windows server 2008 R2 Standard but the database still not accepting comma as a decimal point.
Tried restarting the SQL Server services and restarted the server without luck.
    Really appreciate inputs.
    Thanks,
    Ram.
Please don't forget to Marked as Answer if my post solved your problem and use Vote As Helpful if a post was useful. It will helpful to other users.

    1. Right click on the server name.
    2. Click on Facets.
    3. Then select Server Configuration Facet.
    4. Look for Default Language.
    5. Set it to values as given in the below link:- For Ex: 1 for German
This changes the default language for new users. (And I don't think there is a need to restart of SQL Server, but I have not checked.)
To change the default language for an existing user, use ALTER USER.
But of course, the whole talk about language setting in SQL Server in this context is completely uselss. SQL Server only knows about decimal points. This applies both to literals in the code, and when interpreting strings with CAST/CONVERT.
Everyone is correct that that regional settings does not affect SQL Server - nor should it, it is a server after all.
One more point here when i try creating a filtering functionality on application it is creating decimal as "." not "," is this issue related to application or DB?
I have no idea what you are doing, but the answer is probably the application.

  • Set with filter Expirationtime comparison current-datetime does not list members: regional settings?

    Hi all;
I've created a criteria-based set that has to filter for users that have an
    "expiration Time" "prior to" "today".
    xpath filter: /Person[ExpirationTime < fn:current-dateTime()]
I've got one user where I've set a date expired to a week ago.
When I click view members it does not return any results. When I change the logic to
"expiration Time" "after" "today".  to see how this logic works, it doesn't return any results either.
I'm working in Belgium, regional settings are d/MM/yyyy H:mm (in 24h format).
My browser language is also set to nl-BE, where FIM actually uses this in the PORTAL field too:
Today in Belgium is 16/09/2014 16:45. But My set returns 0 members.
I've read some articles that FIM needs the format in yyyy/MM/dd format (for import)
Is it correct that FIM Portal doesn't handle this XPATH current-dateTime() function correctly for foreign regional settings?
I've tried to set it current-dateTime("d/MM/yyyy") or other variants, but that gives an error when I'm trying to save.
    Kind regards,
    David

    Hi,
I've checked, the "SQL Server Agent (MSSQLSERVER)" is running, and set to automatic.
I've changed the Local default to "dutch (Belgium)" in the Site settings (it was English (US)):
I've launched iisreset to restart the website.
I've looked at the set, no members. I've validated if the users its date format was OK (and Belgian/European style) => it was.
I've played in the set with the different options (I'm translating as these are in Dutch):
     - Prior to 1 day
     - Prior to 1 day from today
     - Prior to "Tuesday 16 September 2014 0:00:00" (from a calendar control)
     - Prior to today
None of these returned any user records :(

With crystal report XIR2 SP5.I have created a report with XML data source and it contains date field, data field is in dd/mm/yy format. However I have changed the regional settings for date as dd: mm: yy.These settings are not reflected in Crystal Report designer for those report which are created using XML data source. The same thing I have tested with CR 2008 and everything seems to be working fine. Is it a bug with CRXIR2 or we need to make some other settings for CRXIR2.

  • Regional settings troubles

    Dear All,
i've create an application on Oracle Database 10g Express Edition for my job, now some my european colligues need to use the same application in china for download excell data but when they open excell file the data has a wrong format.
Does someone can help me for resolve this issue.
    many thanks in advance
    Regards

You will have to verify a few things. First ensure you know what a character set is, see e.g:
    Regional settings troubles
Then ensure you maintain the same character set from database to web page.
To use Chinese characters (multi-byte) you could use UTF-8. This means you will need to use a database with the AL32UTF8 character set and then set NLS_LANG in opmn.xml and on OS level to UTF-8 (e.g. AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8).
Only when your entire 'path' uses the same character set, it will work correctly. If it does not, character set conversions are being done. This results as data being displayed incorrectly or, even worse, stored incorrectly.

  • Region settings

I imported my data from a windows based PC to my mac. The region in system preferences automatically indicated that I am in US, despite the fact that I reside in Botswana. I have tried to change the region settings to Botswana. I am able to select the Botswana region but as soon as a exit from the region screen the region settings change back to US. How do I fix this?

iDVD creates RC0 (=zero) disks.. aka 'region free'
DVD-player app plays all RCs.. BUT: you are allowed to switch the RC settings 5x...(=by inserting a DVD) - then, the last RC is 'burned' into your drives hardware.. no reset possible.

  • Content Type settings inside a sub-site are going to be ignored, and it will use the parent content type settings

I have an enterprise site collection with the following content type settings inside the list content type (columns such as security, document type, etc as required):-
Then I have created a new sub-site of type enterprise wiki, the default list content type for the subsite will look as follow which have the columns such as security, document type as optional :-
But now if I went to the sub-site and I chose to create a new page, and i leave all the columns empty, then the system will raise an error that the columns such as; security, document type, etc are required. although inside the sub-site content type the
columns are defined as optional. So seems that the wiki page inside the sub-site is referencing the parent content type and not its own sub-site content type.
Can anyone advice on this please ?

    Hi John,
I tested the same scenario per your post, however the columns retained the same settings in sub-site in the same content type.
I recommend to verify the things below:
Was the content type you used for creating the page the one created in the parent site?
Did you create another content type in sub-site based on the one created in parent site? I recommend to click the column name to go inside the column settings and then check if the Optional is selected. If yes,
change it and click OK, then change it back to Optional again to see if the issue still occurs.
    Best regards.

    1. no
    2. no. i did not create any content type. i have just create a new subsite of type enterprise wiki , and the content type settings will be same as the parent content type, which have all these columns set as optional. but seems these settings will be ignored
as these columns will raise an error if i leave them empty. so seems that the subsite's library will use the same settings as its parent site collection library, which have these columns set as required...
so i have the following , to make things clearer:-
    1. inside the site collection , the content type at the site collection level have these columns as optional.
    2. inside the site collection's library the  list content type copy, have these columns as required.
    3. on the subsite list content type copy, i have these columns as optional. but these columns on the subsite library will be treated as required columns ...

  • Unable to edit issues list once items are created

    Hello,
I have been trying to do a standard edit to an infopath from to a Project Site Issue list.  I want to add the ID to be visible on the form.  However, on any issue list that already has items in the list, if I try to publish the InfoPath form, I
get the following SOAP error: "The SOAP response indicates that an error occurred on the server:   Server was unable to process request. ---> A duplicate field name "Category" was found."
    I have tried the following:
Checking for duplicate fields in list settings, content types, SharePoint designer.
Refreshed the fields in the InfoPath form before trying to make any changes.
Tried saving a change to the category field in List settings (adding a 5 to the name) and then editing the form.
Even if I make no changes to the form, it has been refreshed after opening, and I try to publish the form, the SOAP error occurs.
The category field is the standard out of the box field, and other than adding additional values, there were no modifications.
I am able to publish the form on a site where no issues have yet been added, and I was able to add the ID field to the site template.
Has anyone run into this issue?  Any resolution?
This is a Project Server 2013 project site on SharePoint 2013.

    Hi,
Based on your description, my understanding is that the InfoPath form of the list cannot be published to SharePoint if there are items in the list.
I recommend to verify the things below:
Please click File > Design Checker in InfoPath to see if there are any errors.
Open the form in InfoPath and keep the form open. Then delete the existing InfoPath template in the list settings and then click publish the form in InfoPath to see if the issue still occurs.
To narrow down the issue scope, I recommend to create a new issue list and test with InfoPath form to compare the results.
Check ULS log for detailed error message in SharePoint.
To further understanding this issue, could you please provide some screenshots of your InfoPath form and the customizations you did on the form?
    Best regards.
    Thanks

  • Problem with Batch Loader and FDM user regional settings

    Hi
    I am using FDM 11.1.2.1.
When I use the English regional settings for my FDM user account, I can do Export Excel from FDM, but Batch Loader doesn't work (Error : "one or more parallel processes failed to start).
When I use the French regional settings for my FDM user account, Export to Excel doesn't work anymore (Error: Conversion from string "12.0" to type 'Long' is not valid. Detail: InnerException1: Input string was not in a correct format.), but the Batch loader is ok.
    Any idea?
Thanks in advance for your help

    Hi Mittal,
By default, formats for date is determined by the report server language at run time. The report server language is the language of the operating system on which the report server is installed. So the formats for date is determined by the language of the
operating system on which the report server is installed.
When you deploy the report to SharePoint site that the regional setting is set to English (Australia), please also set the report language to ‘en-AU’. Then the date format can be also changes to English (Australia).
If the issue is still exited, could you please tell us the date format of date parameters and the field? If possible, please post the screenshot about this, then we can make further analysis.

  • Creating a site for mobile devices

    Good morning,
I have a number of questions relating to the creation of a
site for mobile devices. My client has given me the assignment to
re-design his current website, and to also create a sub-site
suitable for mobiles. I have spent a number of hours looking around
on the Internet and trying to gain a better understanding of these
issues. Still, a number of questions remain. if you can give me any
additional understanding, that would be great.
    Question 1:
Is my understanding correct: I basically need to create two
sites, one for the wide-screen browser, and one for the mobile
browser? I can direct visitors to the mobile site using a CSS or
javascript link - if their browser identifies them as a mobile
    browser?
    Question 2
Mobile devices come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and
versions. PDA\s and iPhone's have different screensizes and
resolutions that smart--phones, which in turn are different again
from older and simpler phones. Should I design a site for a number
of different types of phones? That would a huge amount of work...
    Question 3
I also own Device Central, an App which I should think is
very useful in this situation. But I fail to understand it! OK, so
I can see what my photo or website or flash file looks like on my
Nokia N73 - but I am not designing specifically for that phone. I
also want my design to look good on all the other phones! My client
needs a website that is not tailored to one phone, but to all
    phones.
    Question 4
And why does Device Central not have profiles for the iPhone?
I would think it is popular enough to warrant its own profile... (I
post this from the Netherlands, where the iPhone is not carried
yet, and so I have only ever held one in my hand). Is this because
the iphone can see regular sites just fine?
    Question 5
How does Dreamweaver help me build a mobile site?
    Question 6
My client wants to show video on his website. In fact, that's
what this website is all about: showing sports-videos from high
profile sporting events. Which video-formats are most suitable?
    Question 7
Do all mobile phones support flash? Or only a few? Or none?
It seems to me that a flash website would allow for more creativity
    in the design.
Thanks for any help you can give. Any resources you could
point me to are also very welcome...
    Sincerely,
    Rogier Bos

I am sure above tells me exactly what is wrong, but I can't decipher it, so I can forward the info to the correct team to fix (we are a very departmentalized organization). I have already completely deleted both servers in the farm and recreated from scratch
and I get the same error, even tried a 3rd time to remove SP and download the latest patches again.
    Can anyone help?
    Kevin

    did you
configure the object cache on the web app?
also do you have user profile services configured, if yes then web App's app pool should have permission on UPA.
