I just finish installation of my ECC 6.0 server. Now i want to change the number of the SAP dialog process. And do you know if there is any calculate formula to use so that i can know how many dialog process i should set for the server?Hello,
That depends on the no of users that are going to logon.
For windows based operating system, it depends on the no of processors you have in the server.
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/02/962817538111d1891b0000e8322f96/frameset.htm
While increasing the no of work process, you need to note that per work process, you have to assign 50 MB to 60 MB of memory, depending on the SAP release and operating system.

Dear all,
We are running SAP ECC 6.0 with Oracle 11g on AIX 5.1.
The system log (SM21) have entries like 'Stop Workproc 5, PID 2760756' every now and then for different users.
The details of the entry are as follows :

The previous and succeeding log entries in SM21 are for different users.
Are these issue due to any disconnection due to network inconsistency or so.
The entry in SM50 trace display at this time is as follows:
Tue Oct 18 10:17:42 2011
User requested cancel of current SQL on connection 0
db_sqlbreak() = 0

Thanks in Advance !
Regards,
KiranI would say that someone executes a transaction, it takes too long and he cancells the transaction through GUI.
I would trry to find out, who's user "TESTUSER" and ask what is going on.

VL10C Dialog processing issue- Unselected items are appearing in Delivery.
Hi All,
When i do Foreground dialog mode delivery creation, I would like to split the line items into two deliveries. Schedule line and delivery date every thing same and fine.
Back round processing working fine.
I have verified user role settings:
User role : 0101, List type : 2, Selected items activated.
My question is there any thing else like
1. user role settings "Change attribute" should be activated?
2.Fcode Profile : 0001 Function code: "GET" Do i need to change those?
3.Allowed dialog F codes : 0001 F code : &abc Do i need to change those?
All i required is partial delivery in Dialog mode T code : Vl10C... Relevant T codes also tried...
Please share your suggestions Regarding the issue.Hi Sathish,
As per Standard SAP itself they defined the delivery process foregrround and background into two different programs.
So technically both process are not similar.
Top of my mind, foreground does not allow you to do partial delivery. you have to do background for that.
Otherwise escalate the issue to SAP.

SAP job not using all dialog processes that are available for parallel processing
He Experts,
The customer is running a job which is not using all the dialog processes that are available for parallel processing. It appears to use up the parallel processes (60) for the first 4-5 minutes of the job and then maxes out about 3-5 processes for the remainder of the job.
How do I analyze the job to find out the issue from a Basis perspective?
Thanks,
ZahraHi Daniel,
Thanks for replying!
I don't believe its a standard job.
I was thinking of starting a trace using ST05 before the job. What do you think?
Thanks,
Zahra -
Hi ,
1) If dialog process show in priv mode status in sm50 ,how to trouble shoot and what action u need take?
2) If control files is crashed what will u do for that?
can anybody explan the issue asap
Regards
SheebaHi
1) If MANY dialog process show in PRIV mode, that means the memory you configured is not sufficient. You need to review the memory configuration based your what kind of programs are running in the system. This is just a start point of troubleshooting memory. http://help.sap.com/printdocu/core/Print46c/en/data/pdf/BCCSTMM/BCCSTMM.pdf is a start point for this.
2) I hope you are aware where to see that a control file is corrupted (Alert log). You can see where the control files located from init<SID>.ora and copy the corrupted with the one that is not corrupted. You may need to stop database to do that. I haven't encounted any such until now.
All the best, -
Dispatcher Not Running work process stop.
HI,
I am facing this problem while installing SAP PI 7.3 on RHEL6 with Oracle. During installation it stops at when it will start instance and when I check found having some issue with dispatcher. Below are the few logs which I found during installation no issue with oracle starting properly and not having any issue with R3trans -d.

Br,
Sachin -
may i know what is SAP BATCH PROCESS in BW, thank you.
hi Su Reddy,
welcome to SDN ...
sap batch process
batch process, one of the type of process in WAS (in relation with BW). the type of process are :
- dialog-DIA, used for processing dialog program, e.g awb-administrator workbench, bw monitor.
- batch-BTC, used for any kind of process submitted for batch processing, e.g data load process, aggregate rollups, infocube compression.
- update-UPD, used for asynchronous updates, e.g v1 and v2. this type not used in BW.
- enqueue-ENQ, used for locking and unlocking objects.
- spool-SPO, used for execute print requests.
more info on batch job :
1. where ?
load process, aggregate rollups, infocube compression.
the job name can be identified start with BI_xx e.g :
- BI_BATCHxxx trigger to r/3
- BI_REQUxxx load to data target
- BI_ODSAxxx activate ods data
- BI_STRUxxx attribute/hierarchy change run
- BI_STATxxx statistics
- BI_DELxxxx delete data/request
- BI_AGGRxxx aggregate rollups
process chain job : BI_PROCESSxxx
others
- RSIMPCURR - currency update
- RSIMPCUST - transfer global setting
why ?
processing make take long time.
2. in r/3 (related to bw)
- extraction triggered by bw
BI_REQUxxx with user name background user (aleremote)
(need to check job name for currency and transfer global setting)
- generic extraction using program scheduled background
- fill setup table (olibw) : job name : RMCVNEU
- V3 collective run : LIS_*_datetime; * = application
3. how do we monitor ?
transaction sm37
for data loading->bw monitoring
4. start and stop ?
start
data loading : infopackage scheduling, process chain
sm36
stop : sm37-> cancel job.
hope this helps. -
hi all,
When my SAP MMC start . It start normally and turn GREEN and soon goes YELLOW. the disp+work process stopped at that time.
All servies are running.

Bank ALE Creates Dialog Processes
Hi All,
We would like to use ALE to move bank master data from our legacy 4.6c system to our new ECC6.0 system.
It works fine, however, it appears that when SAP creates the inbound IDOC in the receiver system, it generates a dialog process per IDOC rather than using a single one and doing them serially. When we send mass data loads, this causes issues with system performance.
Is there a way to force the ALE to only use a single dialog process? I know it would take longer, but it will keep more dialog processes free to help overall performance.
Thanks in advance. Then you need to do in Source system this way
Use collect IDOCs as option in WE20 and increase the packet size with a large number.
and schedule RSEOUT00 in nightly batch , Then it will send all the IDOCs in one packet to to the other destination

Issue in SAP CPS for Job Interception
Issue in SAP CPS for Job Interception
Scenario:
After triggering a Process Chain in BW and maintaining the Job Interception settings in SAPCPS(Redwood)
(so that any job which triggers in BW by that Particular User is intercepted and not let it proceed further until the job is released in SAP CPS.)
Issue:
The Jobs are getting into Waiting status in SAP CPS(Redwood) even though there is no progress in loads in BW side. Also the Jobs are in Intercepted state even after releasing the Parent Job in SAP CPS(Redwood).
Please let us know how to go about it.Hi Ramesh,
What you plan to do is called monitoring of process chains (ie. process chains not started from CPS) and this should be available in the latest version of CPS.
This requires the interception of only the BI_PROCESS_TRIGGER process, just as you have configured now, and other than that the following prerequisites:
SAP Note 1080558 describes the SP levels for the BW/BI releases
XBP 2.0 or higher
Redwood transport files must be loaded
ProcessServerService.SAP.XBPVariant license key
Maybe this helps,
Anton. -
SAP Strategy Management stop loading on 96%
Hi,
we are facing the following problem.
System Information:
==============
SAP Strategy Management 10.1
SAP Netweaver
SAP MaxDB
We did the following steps:
===================
We used PAS cube builder to build a new PAS cube with one measure only. the PAS cube been created successfully.
We then go to the SAP Strategy Administrator and tested the two associated model connections (CBSSM_SC & CBSSM_MM) and can connect.
we set up this model under Entry and approval tab in the administrator screen and defined this measure for data entry.
We used Data Entry and approval link to enter the data manually for the only KPI stored in this cube after defining the measure set.
we then successfully loaded the data into the model.
After that we scheduled a task to re-aggregate score cards data and it is completed successfully.
We defined on KPI in the administrator screen and associated it with the created KPI (measure) in the already created model (cube).
I already assigned SSM tasks to SSM roles from SAP net weaver administration screen.
When we ope the main SAP Strategy Management interface link it loads and stop at 96%
When we changed the model connection back to the default one "MODCONN" which is based on "Juice" model the main SAP strategy screen successfully complete at 100% and we can navigate to score card table but there is no data to be displayed. Only context hierarchy with the created KPI and no values or data.
Can any one hep ...!?Hi every one...
The problem was fixed by using a PAS cube with a defined dimension. There was many issues in SAP strategy Management 10.1 SP0 corrected in SP 1,2 & 3 regarding using a cube with no dimension. Also you may sometime need to close your browser and log in again. -
How to execute report in Background from Dialog process?
How, or what is the best way, to lauch an executable program (report) into the background from a dialog program (dynpro)?
<b>Example:</b> The SUBMIT...AND RETURN still executes the called program before it returns control to the calling program. I just want the report to be kicked off and the dialog to continue as normal. I do not want the report execution time to affect the dialog process.
Thanks in advance for your time.Hi Nablan, I'm also trying to do parallel processing and created a function module that kicks of another report program.
However, the process doesn't seem to work. The Main program runs from start to finish but the called program in the function module doesn't seem to run. When I used the option STARTING NEW TASK task name the code ran but in the foreground. I don't want to use this option as it runs in the foreground and SAP limits one to six sessions. Is there something I'm missing in the attributes of the function module I created. Currently the attributes are: Processing type Remote enable module and it's set to start immediately. I had used Normal function module initially but this did not work with the STARTING NEW TASK task name option.
Below are the codes segements I used.
In my main program I have the following code segement
CALL FUNCTION 'Z_CA_PROG_CALL'
IN BACKGROUND TASK
EXPORTING
zprogram = 'ZCA_TEST1'
EXCEPTIONS
program_call_failed = 1
invalid = 2
OTHERS = 3.
IF sy-subrc <> 0.
MESSAGE ID SY-MSGID TYPE SY-MSGTY NUMBER SY-MSGNO
WITH SY-MSGV1 SY-MSGV2 SY-MSGV3 SY-MSGV4.
ENDIF.
COMMIT WORK.
In the function module I have the following code.
FUNCTION z_ca_prog_call.
""Local interface:
*" IMPORTING
*" VALUE(ZPROGRAM) LIKE ZCA_INTERFPROG-ZPROGRAM
*" EXCEPTIONS
*" PROGRAM_CALL_FAILED
*" INVALID
SUBMIT (zprogram).
IF sy-subrc <> 0.
CASE sy-subrc.
WHEN 1.
RAISE program_call_failed.
WHEN OTHERS.
RAISE invalid.
ENDCASE.
ENDIF.
ENDFUNCTION. -
