Issue logging onto APEX-homepage
Hi,
after installing APEX 2.2 on a 10g R2 databaseon on Win Server 2003 I encounter the following problem:
If I try to connect to the APEX homepage, the service silently times out. I'm getting a simple massage that the service timed out but nothing else.
I set mod_plsql to trace what's going on but the message isn't very telling for me: It says that it tries to connect to the database as 'unknown' and this seems to fail.
Does this give anybody an idea what's going on here?

when scrolling through the install log file, I encountered these errors or messages:

(User Anonymous is dropped on my install)

No other issues.

Looks OK now.
In fact there seem to have been two problems.
Firstly my marvel.conf had the line
PlsqlNLSLanguage ENGLISH_UNITED_KINGDOM.AL32UTF8
I changed this to
PlsqlNLSLanguage "ENGLISH_UNITED KINGDOM.AL32UTF8"
I created a brand new UNDO tablespace one, deleted the old one and I can get to my Apex work. -
My iphone 5 will not log onto imessage and facetime
Hi,
I am having issues logging onto imessage and facetime on my iphone 5. I enter my correct information and everytime i get an error message saying "Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again". I have tried logging off icloud, restarting phone etc....nothing seems to work.
Anyone had similar issues?

Firefox 3.6.13 won't log onto gmail or google accounts, plus issues with hotmail
Running 3.6.13 on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. Since 3.6.12, I've had hit-or-miss issues being able to log onto my gmail (no, not a password issue). When I tried loading gmail (either through the unsecure or the https version), the connection would often time out, with Firefox telling me the connection was interrupted and/or had been reset. Hotmail would load, but if I selected multiple messages to move or delete, it wouldn't work, and a notice would pop onto my hotmail session, saying that I wasn't connected to the internet.
So I tried Chrome, and the gmail issue wasn't a problem in Chrome. But, sure enough, the Hotmail thing was still an issue in Chrome.
After running through all the suggestions I could find here and elsewhere--including deleting cookies, cache, etc., and creating a new profile, and running in safe mode, and moving to Firefox 4 beta (same issue as 3.6.x), and a total uninstall & reinstall of Firefox--nothing worked. In fact, after upgrading to 3.6.13, gmail wouldn't load at all. I couldn't even log on to any aspect of my google accounts--so, no docs, no calendar, etc.
So I started over, with a system wipe & reinstall of the OS. After initial install of Firefox, it *seemed* to have solved the problem. But soon after--and this was before adding any customizations other than Adblock Plus (which I have disabled on any google domain)--the problem returned. I ran through the troubleshooting again (e.g., deleting cache, cookies, creating new profile, etc.). No luck. Then I realized the culprit might be... JAVA!
Uninstalled java, and lo! and behold, gmail loaded. But hotmail still was problematic. And gmail was still hit-and-miss, and loading slowly when it did work.
So I went to my work computer, which is also running Win 7 Pro 64-bit, and copied all my Firefox files (install directory, profile, etc.) over to my home computer. Y'see, my work computer--despite having all the same settings and software--has no problem with gmail or hotmail. Well, those same settings applied to my home computer still were problematic. And no, it's nothing to do with my home network setup--which hasn't changed since before I started having these issues, anyway.
So I did a complete uninstall of Java on my home system, and voila! Gmail works, doesn't take a whole lot of time to load (though it's still sluggish compared to my work computer). Hotmail is still buggy, but hey--it's hotmail.
Unfortunately, when I then installed OpenOffice, Java was re-installed (and I'm not sure how essential having a standalone java install is for OpenOffice, so I'm holding off on any uninstall) and now I'm back to hit-and-miss gmail.
Long story short, there is something in java (and I've tried version 21, 22, and 23) that is messing up Firefox when it comes to gmail, google accounts, and hotmail. Chrome is not affected by this in gmail or google accounts, but has issues in hotmail. IE8 isn't affected in google or hotmail.
I hate IE8, and I'm not sold on Chrome. Don't drive me away, Firefox.
Prior to my OS wipe & reinstall, other sites that use java--primarily for file uploading, like flickr & photo finishing businesses--were not working with Firefox 3.6.13 or Firefox 4 beta.
Again, clearing cache, clearing cookies, creating a new profile, running in safe mode, uninstalling any individual and/or all add-ons and extensions... none of these was the answer to this problem. Even a fresh OS install didn't quite fix it. Java seems to be implicated in the problem, and I'll be posting this issue over at Oracle's forums, too.
Other computers I have on my home network are affected by this issue, as well, but not all of them, and not to the same degree.I also have this problem and it just started in the last week or so. It seems to be dependent on my home network and the problem only exists with firefox. I have used chrome and IE8 with no issues. I can verify tomorrow that it only exists in my network but one thing I was able to test is that the problem exists even on my linux boot. I am totally dumbfounded with this problem and I can't find anything that will allow the gmail page to load. All other pages I have tried load fine, all be it a little slower than normal but they load. If anyone knows of a difference between firefox and all other browsers on how it goes through the router I would appreciate the info cause I don't know of any differences.

Logging onto sites with passwords issue
the last couple of days i've had problems logging onto sites that have required user names/passwords. the sites i have tried are all sites i have 'prefilled' so to speak and all i have to do is click log on. but lately, they don't allow me on, saying my password is incorrect. i go back in and change the password (with the website), but still i'm unable to log on. this has happened to me with 2 separate sites. any suggestions?
Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Websites can be coded to perform better with some browsers rather than others. The BB Browser can appear to websites as several different things...that setting is, from within the Browser App, (BBKey > Options > Browser Configuration > Browser Identification). Changing that to another browser might help your BB interact better with some websites. In combination with all of the other configuration settings, you need to find the combination of all of these settings that works best for the sites you are visiting. Sadly, there is no "best advice" to give as each persons needs are different. But, I typically find that changing the Browser Identification often helps -- most often by changing to FF or IE (if those are available to you...the options vary by carrier).

I have been trying to log onto the Wounded Warriors Program Portal. I can Log in and then when I click on the rewards it tried to go to the page the just takes me back to the same page I was on. This is very frustrating. I am new to the Mac World so please bare with me. Please tell me there is help somewhere for this issue. It seems it is blocked or not letting me through. Both Mail and Safari have Activity Options that open a screen that shows you just how the site or mail is loading.
In Safari if you are having trouble with a site in activity you will see the count of items being downloaded - and if an error occurs it shows red.
On the top is the number of items it is loading or trying to load and the count should be increasing. If the count stops, and you don't have errors it may be that too many people are going after the same site and your request just timed out. Have had the time out on a news site when trying to load a most popular article. -
I cannot log onto the App Store, the page appears when I call it from the dock or the Apple menu and I can call the log-in box from the menu bar, but on signing in the spinning icon just keeps spinning,(not the beachball). Using 10.6.7 and up-to-date on all software. Any suggestions?
Could be a third party app preventing you from being able to login.

If it's not a third party issue, follow the instructions here.
Quit the MAS if it's open.
Open a Finder window. Select your Home folder in the Sidebar on the left then open the Library folder then the Caches folder.
Move the com.apple.appstore and the com.apple.storeagent files from the Caches folder to the Trash
From the same Library folder open the Preferences folder.
Move these files Preferences folder to the Trash: com.apple.appstore.plist and com.apple.storeagent.plist
Same Library folder open the Cookies folder. Move the com.apple.appstore.plist file from the Cookies folder to the Trash.
Relaunch the MAS. -
I was struggling with creating an account without a credit card at first and then someone on here suggested I create my account through the actual website and I log onto the website without any trouble and onto Game Center, just nowhere else. It says "This Apple ID has not yet been used with the iTunes Store." and asks me to review my account information but when I click on review, it completely ignores my request. This is somewhat infuriating as I really would like to start using the App Store. Thank you for your help.

iTunes is updated and works fine and I am able to log onto my account. When I go to purchase a song, I get the error message "Your Apple ID has been disabled". I've tried different methods: changing passwords, making a new account with another email address, and emailing itunes tech support. I am curious as to how many others have been experiencing the same issue. When I googled the error, it seemed like it was happening extremely often with many people.
We all love their products, but they always come with a lot of issues and horrible customer support.

I had some fraudulent charges on my itunes account, so I call my bank and disputed the charges. Right after I did that, I started getting the message "Your apple ID has been disabled." I just realized today that the charges are not fraudulent, they are "in app purchases." One of my daughters downloaded the game Top Girl which is FREE, but in the game Top Girl you use money in the game to purchase things. It just so happens that the money you use to purchase things is real money MY Money!!!. My daughter thought she was using play money in the game and had no idea she was using real money. She spent $106.00 buying stuff. Now I have to call the bank and tell them to release the hold and pay Itunes. I'm hoping this solves the problem. I ran iTunes update 11.1.4.62x64 on a PC Win 7 and got "apple mobile device failed to start verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services" and got kicked out of the install process? I deleted iTunes, ran download to reinstall, and now I can't reinstall - same error message. I am logged onto the PC as Administrator. How do I downlaod and install iTunes.

I recently changed my Apple ID and password. Although I thought I was changing my iCloud email which I just learned cannot be changed. I am in the middle of an ugly separation. I just upgraded my old iPhone 4 to a 5s. I have an I pad also. My first completely idiotic thing I did was try to restore my old iPhone 4 in a hurry and I accidently restored it to an earlier day which alone has caused more problems than I care to address. He has access now to all my emails. I wanted to change my iCloud email account since it's been terribly compromised but I can't. And I was very confused when I just tried to log onto my iCloud email and it says his name. I just changed it manually on my iphone5s. But when I try to log on it says I have the wrong password. Tried changing it but it tells me to log onto my Apple ID account and I'm just so confused and I need to wipe that device clean somehow. Please help

The tech who set the phone up at the Apple store did so with little training.
if you have a mobile me account. First go and move all your data to the cloud by going on your computer and logging in at me.com/move. The cloud has replaced mobile me, so there is no need for those two accounts
Also make sure that for any of your email accounts you set them up to fetch, not push. My tech person set them all to have the email servers push data to the phone. The new iphone4s antenna is extremely strong so it will continually try to access stuff that is pushed–***** a lot of battery life doing this. It makes it worse if you have exchange 2010 accounts. Something about changes made to exchange really suck battery life from devices that access such accounts.

Performance issues logging on to Workspace 11.1.2.1
Hi All,
We have a distributed install of 11.1.2.1 (2 HSS, 3 PLN, 3HFM, 3 Workspace, 2 FDM servers) and facing significant performance issues:
- Logging on to the Workspace as an external user takes 5 min
- Logging on to the AAS console as an external user takes over 2 min
- Opening HBRs in AAS takes a couple of minutes
- Logging on to HSS as an external user takes over a min
Logging on as a native user takes around 30 seconds.
We have disabled compoments we do not use under the Workspace server properties and applied patch Set Exception (PSE): 13327628 which addressed the following perfomance issues:
• 12913216 – Intermittent login error is observed while attempting to log into EPM System Workspace. Workspace displays the error message “You must supply a valid User Name and Password to log onto the system.” However, user can log in by clicking OK.
• 13341789 – Poor login performance (delay of 3-5 minutes) is observed at the first user login if Workspace web application has been inactive for an hour. Subsequent login performance is not impacted.
• 13388864 – In deployments where a firewall is configured to time out idle applications (for example, after 30 minutes) users can login once, but subsequent login times out.
In Shared Services we have also set Evict Interval and Allowed Idle Connection Time to 5 mins.
Is there anything else we could try to improve performance?

SebIf you already have deactivated the non used services from WS, it's weird. As I can see you may be using an external directory for authenticating, check on these.
* have you checked the response time from the external directory... sometimes for example in Active directory the user hierarchy is too complex to navigate on it. you can use an LDAP tester to see
* Are you using SSL? if yes, try wtihout SSL
* For workspace Start the non used services, and activate back the services in the WS to see if there it improves with all the apps up ( this will help you to narrow the debugging)
* go directly to java based servers, for instance in the shared services server go directly to the port 28080 for interop, instead of going by http server and check if you can login quick or not. This will help you also to isolate the issue (if it's related or not to Workspace).
