Issue when opening pdf using Jasper Report in WLS 9.2
hi
I am new to jasper reports and I am using them in Java Page Flow in bea workshop 9.2 Jasper Report 2.0.4
Created .jasper using iReport
In one of my action methods
ServletOutputStream servletOutputStream = getResponse().getOutputStream();
InputStream reportStream = getServlet().getServletConfig().getServletContext().getResourceAsStream("/classic.jasper");
JasperRunManager.runReportToPdfStream(reportStream, servletOutputStream, new HashMap() ,connection);
getResponse().setContentType("application/pdf");
servletOutputStream.flush();
servletOutputStream.close();
connection.close();
When I invoke this action method from another page on click of submit , the pdf file opens fine for the first time wiht all the data in the pdf ( first submit) , and then I closed the pdf and if I click on submit again, it fails to open the pdf with the error message ,
There was an error opening this document . This file cannot be found.
However if I keep any pdf / adobe open it is able to open the pdf for mulitple request (submits )
if I close the pdf it is able to generate the pdf only for the first time and not the second time.
Please help me resolve the issue, its urgent.
thanx in advance

Hi, I am having the same problem as your user when I try to open a pdf form in acrobat. I also have had a similar problem, still unresolved, described here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5146964.
I can't find any solutions. I even tried uninstalling Acrobat X pro and instead gong back to installing Acrobat 9. Same problems persist. Don't know what to do.

Thanx in advanceThanks for the reply David. The problem we're having is that when you are in Workshop, there is the option, under the "File" menu to "Refresh" (F5) You sometimes need to do this to refresh your workspace. I'm sorry, I'm not a developer, so I don't know the details behind what that actually does, other than it "refreshes the workspace" so we can pick up the changes made and checked into subversion.
Without performing this step, you don't always build from the latest and greatest code.
The problem we're facing is that it seems that you need to be in Workshop to perform this step. There is a scripted way to do the refresh, but it requires you to open Workshop and run the script. What we're trying to accomplish is a truly scripted solution. All the other steps in the build process can be performed without opening Workshop, but because we can't figure out a way to do this one piece, we cannot have an automated build process.

Issue when opening PDF forms in Acrobat X
First, pardon me if this is the incorrect forum for this post. I did not locate any general technical support board for Acrobat X but I could have missed it.
I have a user who has Adobe Acrobat X Standard (10.1.6) installed on his computer system. He is able to generate PDF files and open regular PDF files without issues. However, if he opens up any PDF which is a form, Acrobat immediately crashes. His computer is a Windows 7 Professional x64 system. Antivirus on the system is GFI Vipre Business.
Here is what I have tried:
Update Acrobat with the latest patches/updates.
Different Windows profile with administrator rights.
Removed Acrobat and reinstall through normal convential means.
Removed Acrobat via tool at http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html.
Remove Acrobat and then do a manual clean of the registry and Windows Explorer.
Cleaned up fonts on the system. This might not have been done right but based on the error, perhaps you all can offer suggestions on if this error is related to font issues.
I would perform a system restore, but this user is unsure of when this issue started happening exactly. So, we'd be in the dark on this. The only thing that I can think I haven't tried is a wipe of the computer.
Here are the specific errors:
This error is received when trying to directly open a form PDF on the system:
Title: Font Capture: Acrobat.exe - Bad Image
Message: C:\Windows\system32\ATMLIB.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support.

ADF 11G: opening PDF into new Window using Jasper Report
Hello, I am using JDev 11.1.1.5.0
I have a page into a bound Task FLow containing a table and a "print "button".
I am using Jasper Report to create a PDF document.
I want this document to be opened into a new Window when the user click on the button.
I've been reading several threads/blogs to do this but it is not working.
please help me out with the sample or some link where I can refer.
Thanks
SanjeevHi All,
Today I checked and got the Reason why Server is getting shut down while closing the Report window.... this is just because of JasperViewer.
so while opening the JasperViewer to show the Report we need to pass the second parameter as False.
JasperViewer.viewReport(jasperPrint,false);k thanks for your update....
but still my actual problem exist....
I don't want to use JasperViewer to view the Report.
Like when I'm clicking on Button PDF Report is opening in the same Winodw.
response.setHeader("Content-Disposition",
"inline; filename=\"ReportFile.pdf\"");it will open as attachment if I'll use the below code and my ShowReport Button is getting disabled....
response.setHeader("Content-Disposition",
"attachement; filename=\"ReportFile.pdf\"");As in Page ShowReport Button is getting disabled so after exporting the Report I want to redirect to the page but getting Error like Illegal State Exception: Response Already Commiteed
Error Log:

Adobe Reader 8.1.2 (admplugin.apl) crash when opening PDF files
Hi,
I did spend some time today trying to get Adobe Reader 8.1.2 to run on a Citrix Access Essential 2.0 server.
Setup
Server OS:
Windows Server 2003 SP2 - fully patched.
Other software:
Office 2003 Standard, Danish, SP3
Symantec Antivirus 10.1
Adobe Reader 8.1.2, Danish
The installation is clean (1 week old).
Problem description:
When opening PDF files, Adobe Reader crashes before showing any content from the PDF file. The module crashing is admplugin.apl.
Work-arounds tried:
Uninstalling and reinstalling Adobe Reader 8.1.2 (DK).
Disabling Antivirus (service stopped)
Replacing admplugin.apl with admplugin.apl from Adobe Reader 8.0
Uninstalling DK version and installing US version.
Adding user to local Administrators to exclude any permission related problems.
Deleting Adobe folders from users profile Application Data\Adobe\... and Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\...
Turn DEP off
Solution:
Finally I gave up and installed 7.0.9 (Danish). It works as expected.
It seems that the problem is known and a few user has reported this. One Adobe KB article mentions the problem, and the solution is to disable some 3. party diagnostic/support tools provided by DSL providers. This is definitively not the issue in this installation.
Anybody from Adobe having any input to this problem?
Best regards from Denmark!Hi,
I am having a similar issue with Ver 8.1.2 running over cirtix with a similar setup to Jans-Peter.
The difference is that Reader opens fine but when you try to edit preferences it crashes.
This only happens on an citrix session. If I run reader on the server directly it works OK.
However after reading above I can replicate the problem on the server by moving or deleting the ADMPlugin.apl file.
Any further ideas at all?

Adobe Reader 11.0.05 won't always display the GUI when opening PDF?!
I have come across some odd behaviour with Adobe Reader 11.0.05. In particular, the following issues seem to have surfaced since upgrading to 11.x from 9.x.
Opening a PDF from any application, launches an "AcroRd32.exe" process but the GUI is not shown i.e. you don't see a Reader window or PDF. If you try open the PDF again it will launch another instance of that process and still won't show the GUI. Killing all AcroRd32.exe processes via Task Manager and re-opening the PDF will then work.
Some users are experiencing the following error when opening PDFs via IE and other 3rd party apps.
We've deployed 11.0.05 across a few thousand 32-bit Windows 7 PCs and it's a little concerning that PDFs won't always open. At this stage it is very random, maybe 1 out of 5 times it won't show the GUI but launch the process. Our only workaround is to advise users to kill all AcroRd32.exe processes and try again.
Our packaged 11.0.05 was created as follows:
AIP created from 11.0 msi > AIP patched with 11.0.04 msp (Q) > AIP patched with 11.0.05 msp (OOC). Transform was created using Adobe Customization Wizard 11.
Oddly, this does not occur using Adobe Reader 9.5.5 (or other versions of 9.x).
Sounds like 11.x is buggy, anyone else experiencing the same issues??
Thanks!Yes, I am always having problems. Microsoft fixed the problem for me but it has reverted back to a trial I downloaded. I can't access my PDF at all.

Adobe & Internet Explorer crashing when opening pdf within an Internet Explorer window
Hello,
Can anyone help me with this issue or maybe point me in the right direction? Thank you!
Working with in a ASP that uses reader to display forms. The form opens as an embedded adobe form in a new Internet Explorer window. Once the form opens it pulls data from the ASP. At times when the form opens in the new window both the Internet Explorer windows close. Other times a "user request stop" error appears and once OK is pressed both windows close. The ASP does not know what causes this & can not seem to replicate the problem. ASP is on the other side of the country.
Would the acrotray.exe be causing this?
Adobe Reader 9.3.2
Internet Explorer: 8 up to date
Message was edited by: battleaxes1Hi, thank you it is working now, I deinstalled and reinstalled the complete
acrobate set, the reader is version 11 now,

If you have placed your .jrxml file say in C:\reports, and when you use compileReportToFile(jrxmlFileName), then the jasper file will be created in the same directory C:\report with the same file name with .jasper extension. If you want a pdf report then specify the same location and file name with '.pdf' extension as destination .
Hope this helps -
Browser closing when opening PDF output in Apps
Hello,
When opening the concurrent request/report output (for PDF output), the browser just closes.
The PDF output were generated thru XML Publisher (reports converted in XML Publisher - rtf).
PDF is defined in the Viewer Options/ System Options(Viewer). I could open PDF output by
pressing CTRL key while clicking on the output request Output button. It will give prompt on
whether to Open or Save the PDF.
Not sure if it's really related to XML Publisher, maybe more on concurrent request, but idea
will be very much appreciated.
Thanks,
RownaldTo clarify what you posted:
When opening the PDF document, your browser closes. When pressing the control key and opening the document, you get a dialog window (with the choices of open or save). What happens when you select open?
This is browser behavior, nothing to do with this being a PDF file. Which browser and which platform? If you are using IE7, popup blocker is automatically enabled, and if you are viewing this on a 2003 server, you have server security settings to override. Pressing the control key allows popups. -

How can I solve this problem?
Thanks// I got this from an Action (Im using Struts)
java.sql.Blob file=(java.sql.Blob)request.getAttribute("PDFfile");
String filename=(String)request.getAttribute("filename");
try{
int iLength = (int)(file.length());
response.setHeader("Content-type", "application/pdf");
response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", "inline; filename=\""+filename+"\"");
response.setHeader("Expires","0");
response.setHeader("Cache-Control","must-revalidate, post-check=0, pre-check=0");
response.setHeader("Pragma","public");
response.setContentLength(iLength);
ServletOutputStream os = response.getOutputStream();
InputStream in = null;
in = file.getBinaryStream();
byte buff[] = new byte[1024];
while (true) {
int i = in.read(buff);
if (i<0) break;
os.write(buff,0,i);
os.flush();
os.close();
} catch(Exception ex){
out.println("Error while reading file : " + ex.getMessage());
}and now its running !!! Im not using response.setContentType(...) and I do this in response.setHeader("Content-type", "application/pdf"). And I use response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", "inline; filename=\""+filename+"\"") instead of response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=\""+filename+"\"");
