Issue with Taiwanese characters display in SQL*Plus/Toad
Hi all,
I have an issue about displaying the Taiwanese characters either in SQl*Plus or Toad tool. Able to view all territory characters properly except it. Whenever i tried to view these characters from Toad, diplay like square box('⃞'), where as it displays as question mark ('?') from SQL*Plus.
I am not sure what are the parameters i want to alter. Please have a look at the below existed database parameters in the DB and help me to get rid of the issue.

GUI Download Issue with Chinese characters
Hello,
Currently we are upgrading from 4.7 to ECC. I'm using GUI_DOWNLOAD
function module to download the data from SAP to desktop. I do have an
issue with Chinese characters while downloading the file from SAP to ECC.
In 4.7 the Chinese characters are being downloaded (I haven't used any
code page) perfectly, but where as in ECC the downloaded file has junk
characters instead of Chinese.
Is there any change in the GUI_UPLOAD FM.
For your reference below is the code present in the program

please check whether you ecc 6.0 is uni coded or not (as you upgraded).
If it is not uni coded then you will not be able to print the Chinese characters.
You can see whether it is uni coded or not by the following
in your app toolbar under system click on status.
There you can see whether your ecc6.0 is uni coded or not.

Web Logic 10.3 upgrade causes issues with escaped characters in JSP.
We recently upgraded our application servers from Weblogic 9.2 to Weblogic 10.3 and we are having an issue with escaped characters in a JSP code. Here is an example of what we are seeing:
var convertedBody1 = document.getElementById('body').value.replace(/\$FIRST_NAME\$/g, firstName);
This code works in Weblogic 9.2. In Weblogic 10.3 we have to make the following changes:
var convertedBody1 = document.getElementById('body').value.replace(/\$FIRST_NAME\$/g, firstName);
Thanks, TomHi:
I have resolved the issue with the following in the jspx page.
Put an
<jsp:scriptlet>
response.setContentType(“text/html; charset=UTF-8”);
</jsp:scriptlet>
Inside the <f:view> on the jspx file.
Please refer the link http://www.oracle.com/global/il/support/tip/nlss11061.html for more details. It is helpful.
Thanks & Regards

Turn off display on sql*plus and increase memory for oracle?
I want to turn off the output display on SQL*PLUS window and SPOOL the output to a file since the result is very big. i tried to SET TERM OFF but it doesn't work. Anybody knows what's the problem? or is there some other commands to use? My oracle is 9i. thx!!! And anybody knows how to increase the memory usage size for Oracle's jrew.exe? it's too slow when i try to retrieve some big size data from oracle.
I just answered this question on the OTN -> General forum. You could try the SQL*Plus startup switch -s to startup SQL*Plus in silent mode, eg:
C:\SQLPLUS -S

Sudden Issue with 23-inch displays?!
My 23-inch display went kaputz yesterday. It's interesting that today for the first time ever, I've come to these forums, hoping for an answer. How in the world can it be that suddenly this August, all of these 23-inchers are on the fritz?
What's up, Apple?!
(thank God for my old 22-inch display. I replugged it in and it's running like a charm.)Several of us have expressed frustration with Apple's lack of response to this problem (which they obviously know about by now, and if they don't, there is no excuse), and the lack of a way to register any complaint beyond the level of your individual AppleCare person. Not knowing where else to turn, I sent an e-mail to the director of Mac PR, and the PR manager for Mac hardware, whose addresses are among the few on the Apple site (see site map).
As evidence that this is not just one person complaining but a true potential PR problem, I asked them to read this discussion and three others on the same issue: "Display not always turning on", "23" display not turning on problem", "Sudden issue with 23-inch displays", "23" cinema display -- bad adapter".
I summarized the complaints as:
1. Power adapters seem to be o failing in large numbers at the same time.
2. Many people are waiting for replacement power adapters through Apple Care, and they are not being shipped as promised.
3. Frustration with Apple's failure to step up to the plate and address this problem.
I asked for a response. So far, two days later, not even an acknowledgement from either one that they received my e-mail.
Maybe if they hear from more of us, they will see that, yes, this is a PR issue! -
Issue with Czech characters in PDFs generated from RSTXPDFT4
Hi,
We have a requirement to generate PDF documents from the spool of the Billing document outputs in our project.
For this we are using the standard program RSTXPDFT4, which converts the SAP script OTF to PDF format.
But the Czech characters in the billing document output are not getting displayed in the PDF generated out of it.
We are already using a device type I2HP4 when creating the print request , which supports Latin-2 Character set ( ISO 8859-2 ), to which the special characters
of East European languages belong.
Even then , the czech characters are not getting displayed in the PDF generated.
We have raised a message to SAP for this, and SAP informed us that currently the only solution to this is to use Latin 2 soft fonts,
and to upload these soft fonts into R/3 System using report RSTXPDF2 as they contain the Eastern European special characters plus all the other characters in ISO 8859-2.
But, since character font definitions (font files) are protected by copyrights, SAP informed us that they cannot provide these font files and we have to acquire
these latin-2 font files by searching in search engines in the internet.
If anyone has the information where we can get these "Adobe type 1 Latin-2" font files with '.PFB' extension, for the proper display of Czech characters, please let me know.Hi,
Did you or anyone manage to find a reasonable solution for this issue?
I'm currently facing something similar but with Polish characters instead.
I tried using RSTXPDF2 to upload .PFB and .TTF files but to no avail. -
Issue with Japanese characters in files/filenames in terminal.
I recently downloaded a zip file with Japanese characters in the archive and in the files within the archive. The name of the archive is "【批量下载】パノプティコン労働歌 第一等.zip"
The characters are properly displayed in firefox, chrome, and other applications, but in my terminal some of the characters appear corrupted. Screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/4R22m0D.png
Additionally, this leads to corruption of the files in the archive. When I try to extract the files, this is what happens:
% unzip 【批量下载】パノプティコン労働歌 第一等.zip
Archive: 【批量下载】パノプティコン労働歌 第一等.zip
extracting: +ii/flac/Let's -+-ʦ1,000,000-.flac bad CRC 5f603d51 (should be debde980)
extracting: +ii/flac/+ѦѾP++ -instrumental-.flac bad CRC 78b93a2d (should be 3501d555)
extracting: +ii/flac/----.flac bad CRC ddeb1d3e (should be c05ae84f)

extracting: +ii/flac/.flac bad CRC f90f3aa0 (should be 41756c2c)

extracting: +ii/flac/---- -instrumental-.flac bad CRC 569b6194 (should be adb5d5fe)
I'm not sure what could be the cause of this. I'm using uxterm with terminus as my main font and IPA gothic (a Japanese font) as my secondary font. I have a Japanese locale set up and have tried setting LANG=ja_JP.utf8 before, but the results never change.
Also, this issue isn't just with this file. This happens with nearly all archives that have Japanese characters associated with it.
Has anyone encountered this issue before or knows what might be wrong?
Last edited by Sanbanyo (2015-05-21 03:12:56)Maybe 7zip or another tool has workarounds for broken file names, you could try that.
Or you could try to go over the files in the zip archive one-by-one and write it to files out-1, out-2, ..., out-$n without concerning yourself with the file names. You could get file endings back via the mimetype.
This script might work:
#include <stdio.h>
#include <zip.h>
static const char *template = "./out-%04d.bin";
int main(int argc, char**argv)
int err = 0;
zip_t *arc = zip_open((const char*)argv[1], ZIP_RDONLY, &err);
if(arc == NULL)
printf("Failed to open ZIP, error %d\n", err);
return -1;
zip_int64_t n = zip_get_num_entries(arc, 0);
printf("%s: # of packed files: %d\n", argv[1], n);
for(int i = 0; i < n; i++)
zip_stat_t stat;
zip_stat_index(arc, i, ZIP_FL_UNCHANGED, &stat);
char buf[stat.size];
char oname[sizeof(template)];
zip_file_t *f = zip_fopen_index(arc, (zip_int64_t)i, ZIP_FL_UNCHANGED);
zip_fread(f, (void*)&buf[0], stat.size);
snprintf(&oname[0], sizeof(template), template, i);
FILE *of = fopen(oname, "wb");
fwrite(&buf[0], stat.size, 1, of);
printf("%s: %s => %lu bytes\n", argv[1], oname, stat.size);
zip_fclose(f);
fclose(of);
zip_close(arc);
return 0;
Compile with
gcc -std=gnu99 -O3 -o unzip unzip.c -lzip
and run as
./unzip $funnyzipfile
You should get template-named, numbered output files in the current directory.

I use ORA10g v.2
Thanks....
SimPlsql developer probably issue something like this in the background:
select col.column_name,data_type,nullable,data_default,comments
from all_tab_columns col,all_col_comments com
where col.table_name=com.table_name
and col.owner=com.owner
and col.column_name=com.column_name
and col.owner='SYS'
and col.table_name = 'USER_EXTENTS'You could save similar code in script in your SQLPATH and pass the object that should be described via substitution variable.
There are really [url http://www.adp-gmbh.ch/blog/2005/september/25.html]interesting approaches on the net regarding describe customization.

Issues with Macbook Pro display.
Hi. Recently, I haven't been having too much luck with Apple products. It started with my Macbook pro Core 2 duo 2.16. It had screen issues, leading to the screen being replaced (replacement screen contained several dead pixels), alongside a logic board, video card, and sound board replacement over the short life of the computer. Apple recently replaced it with a new 2.4 GHz Macbook Pro.
When I first turned it on, only 3 bottom pads made contact with my desk at all, causing the computer to become lob-sided. I brought it to the Apple store and they brought it to their back room to fix it (I am not sure about what they did to it though). The fix was mostly successful and brought the computer "within spec"... Shortly after the fix, I got home and my monitor started acting up by displaying black vertical bars along my screen. The left side of my screen was also disconnected from the aluminum frame; both issues can be seen at http://gallery.mac.com/eliete#100037 . The odd thing is that the issue only comes up every other time I use the computer, and closing-opening the clamshell usually cures the problem temporarily. I discovered that whenever I take a picture in Photo-booth, the screen flash aggravates the problem, making the issue very obvious, and obtrusive.
I do a lot of photography work with Aperture 2 and Photoshop Elements 6, and performance wise, the computer is fantastic, but what good is a fast computer with an awful screen? I do not want to switch back to the PC platform because the Mac OS is just that much better, and I rely on this computer for many everyday tasks. What do you think I should do? - I would rather not have the screen replaced due to the possibility of dead pixels (VERY irritating when editing photos), but it looks like that may be the only option. Do you think that I should wait until the WWDC to see what update the MBP will see, incase they replace my computer a second time? Thank You in advance.First thing I'd to is take it to the Apple Store, you can talk with them about this. I'm sorry you have been having so much trouble, while Macs are good in general there are some lemons. I bought my current MacBook Pro in August. Within a few weeks of buying it, there were a handful of dead pixels on the display as well as a couple of pale spots (bruises that the Apple store said was my fault). I got the display (the entire top 1/2...display, iSight, etc.) replaced over Labor Day weekend and haven't had a dead pixel or blemish since then. If you wait until WWDC, there are two things to consider: 1) you will have the problem for a few more weeks, and 2) replacements may be refurbished laptops and not necessarily a new laptop. Why bother? If I were you, I'd take it in ASAP and see what options I'm given. If the screen is repaired and dead pixels arise, the screen can be replaced again. What's worse, the possibility of dead pixels, or putting up with the bad display for another month (or two...Apple has a history of introducing things at MacWorld and WWDC that aren't available until the following month)? Hope I helped.

Re : Issue with the column display in Bex reports
Hello Gurus,
I have an issue with the reports in Bex, this is a bit confusing scenario I would try to explain in more details. A query was already built for monthly Report in Sales and Billing for which the variable were Calender month/year range 1 (mandatory), range 2 range 3 range 4. These 4 variable were created and moved to column rows in query.
Later the user wanted the copy of same report but he wanted the variables to be Calender date range 1 (mandatory), range 2, range 3 , range 4. I have created them with 0calenderday as reference and moved to the columns.
for the monthly report text variables were already existing for the Calender month/ year, but for the daily report text variable were not existing for Dates. I have created a text variable for the date in the following way processing by
" replacement path" and reference characteristic as 0calday and in the replacement path tab.. in replace variable the selection is info object, the next option Replace with " External charactersitic value key " .
By creating this text variable the dates were being displayed in the colum header like 11/01/2013 - 11/30/2013 which satisfies the requirement.
But the user wanted to see the report same like monthly report when the mandatory variable Calender year/ month is selected, the rest of the columns range 2, range 3, range 4 are displayed as unassigned in the report. but coming back to the daily report when the user is giving the Calender date rage 1, he is finding that Calender date range 2, range 3, range 4 are also being displayed with values. He want to see the Calender date range 2,3,4 as unassigned in the report just like monthly. Please find the images attached.
As Calender month/ year is predefined, if the calender range values are not given it would show up as not assigned default. I have created a separate text variable for Calender day, I believe that could be the reason rest of the columns are not showing up as unassigned. The user want to see them as unassigned like monthly report columns.
I tried different ways changing the text variables but I could not change the display of the columns in Calender date report by the option - replace with ----> External characteristic value key, key, label. when I chose the option external characteristic value then the date was showing up in the text of the column when report is run ( Please find the image for the reference in the attachment ). . I request you to help me out in this. Please find the images of the variables and output below.Anshu,
Thank you very much for above code I made minor changes to the code that finally worked. I created 4 different text variables needed for Calender date range 1, 2 ,3 ,4. Please find the code below for the text variable that worked in the system
WHEN 'ZTEXT_CAL1'.
READ TABLE I_T_VAR_RANGE INTO loc_var_range
WITH KEY VNAM = 'ZCALDATE1'.
IF loc_var_range-LOW = '#'.
dt_low = 'Not Assigned'.
dt_high = 'Not Assigned'.
CONCATENATE dt_low '-' dt_high INTO l_s_range-low.
ELSE.
CONCATENATE loc_var_range-low+4(2) '/' loc_var_range-low+6(2) '/' loc_var_range-low+0(4) into dt_low.
CONCATENATE loc_var_range-high+4(2) '/' loc_var_range-high+6(2) '/' loc_var_range-high+0(4) into dt_high.
CONCATENATE dt_low '-' dt_high INTO l_s_range-low.
ENDIF.
L_S_RANGE-SIGN = 'I'.
L_S_RANGE-OPT = 'EQ'.
APPEND L_S_RANGE TO E_T_RANGE. -
Issue with cyrillic characters in path while exporting using script
Hi everyone!
It seems that there is some issue in CS5 with exporting document using vbscript (not sure about other scripting languages) and path containing cyrillic symbols. Error popped up every time I try to execute the line docRef.Export path & fname, 2, exportOptions if path containing non-latin characters (probably it only affects one with cyriilic characters though). Command docRef.SaveAs path & fname, jpgSaveOptions, True, 2 works just fine with any kind of path supplied. In CS4, CS3 and CS2 versions this problem doesn't occur.
Is this a known bug and what I should do with it if it's not? I really want help to improve Photoshop;)Hi,

HT4623 iOS 8 version 8.1.2 issues with the calendar displaying wrong TIME ZONE!
I just updated to iOS 8 using version 8.1.2 and am having issues with the calendar. I use my GMAIL calendar and sync to my iPhone and now any calendar entries that I add from my phone display the current time zone AND GMT time. Entries that were already there display correctly. New entries entered from the GMAIL calendar also display correctly. The issue is with NEW entries entered on my PHONE into the calendar. This is very annoying and causes problems for new entries that need EDITED. Once opened to edit it defaults to GMT time! WRONG!! I have turned off the automatic time zone feature and Time Zone Override in Settings but it's still WRONG! There are multiple reports of this online so I would like to know when/if it will be corrected or if there is a fix! Please help!!
Quite the same problem here, GMT, UTC.......
Why when they do an update they don't check it completely??? -
Issue with special characters in SAP CRM ICSS application.
Hi ,
I have issue with the special character in CRM web application.
1. In CRM IC Webclient application(5.0) . i am copying and pasting some special characters in the description of the service request document. then this is saving the character as it is.
But when i am opening the same service request in SAP CRM ICSS(Internet Customer Self-Service) application, then the special characters are converting to different characters.
I am not sure whether this is the right forum for this or not.
Can anyone please suggest how can i correct this. Or is there any standard solution to handle the special characters in ICSS.
Thanks

that's ok. i need to see the problem not the data as is

as super scripted in xml?
as idea - you can have <PAY_TXT>PAY TM</PAY_TXT> and in publisher set TM as super

Numbering query results with a line number in SQL*Plus
Doesn't it stand to reason that in SQL*Plus there would be a way to number each query results sequentially with line numbers starting at 1 to n -- something option like from a SET command? I'm not talking about linesize.
There's a column rownum the engine adds into the result sets, just add it to the select list. Can use it to limit the result set (with some limitations) i.e.:
select rownum, ... from ... where rownum <= 100
Can't use ">=", that condition will never be met but a subset could be used:

ThanksHi LaxUdas,
If I understand correctly, the package is developed with Protection Level set as "EncryptSensitiveWithUserKey". When you execute the package via a SQL Agent Job in a Named Instance, the account that job step using is not the user that create the
package. So it cannot be able to connect to the Oracle DB with invalid connection string.
This behavior is by design. In an Integration Services package, the following information is defined as sensitive:
The password part of a connection string.
The task-generated XML nodes that are tagged as sensitive.
Any variable that is marked as sensitive.
EncryptSensitiveWithUserKey uses a key that is based on the current user profile to encrypt only the values of sensitive properties in the package. Only the same user who uses the same profile can load the package. If a different user opens the package,
the sensitive information is replaced with blanks and the current user must provide new values for the sensitive data.
To work around this issue, please refer to the following suggestions:
Change the SSIS Package ProtectionLevel property to EncryptSensitiveWithPassword. This setting uses a password for encryption. To open the package in SSIS Designer (SSDT), the user must provide the package password.
Change the Named Instance SQL Agent Service account to the user that create the package, like your Default Instance.
Use SSIS Package configuration files to store sensitive information, and then store these configuration files in a secured folder. You can then change the ProtectionLevel property to DontSaveSensitive so that the package is not encrypted and does not try
to save secrets to the package. When you run the SSIS package, the required information is loaded from the configuration file. Make sure that the configuration files are adequately protected if they contain sensitive information.
