Issue with usage of Clob variable to hold the output data...

Hi All,
we are getting the output of the sql query out from a function and this function return type is defined as CLOB.
because of the volume of data being fetched we are getting the below mentioned error message when this Function is getting executed.
“ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error”. : character string buffer too small
Now even with CLOB if we are getting the buffer too small error message ...is there any other way or approach we could handle this..
our requirement is to fetch the complete value from this function in one shot and we don't want to split the data based on the size / number of characters...
This is causing us lot of issues...could someone please suggest as to what could be done regards this ...

Post your script. How can we tell when we can't see your code.
Also, better to post the table ddl's script and some demo insert statement here. And, please provide the DB version, too.
Generally, you should not get such error. So, please post these details.
Regards.

    I am having major issues with links in keynote! Even though the links (a navigation system) are on the master page, they are only working on some of my slides. Anyone have ideas on how to fix this or similar issues? Help!
    I have created a navigation system on the master pages and set the presentation to links only mode. I also have other links scattered throughout the program, like a linkable table of contents, etc. Some of them work, some of them don't. Not sure why. Anyone out there having similar issues? Or have any idea on how I can solve this issue? Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks!

    Links should not create any problems in Keynote.  If they are set up correctly on text, the text will be underlined. Objects that have links will have a curved arrow bottom right, if you click the arrow a popup will display the link information.
    Try this repair for Keynote,  ensure you complete all the tasks and in the order shown:

    delete all the iWork applications if you have them, not just Keynote, using Appcleaner from Mac Update, its a freeware application

    empty the trash:  Finder > Empty Trash

    Shut down your Mac, wait 30 seconds, then power on the Mac, immediately after the start chime, hold down the Shift key
    When you see the grey Apple symbol and progress indicator (a spinning gear), release the Shift key.
    If you are prompted to log in, type your password, then hold down the Shift key again as you click Log in.

    Let the Mac fully boot up, it will take longer as the OS is repairing the drive

    when fully booted, go to Applications > Utilities > Disc Utility; click on the boot drive then First Aid tab and click  repair disc permissions

    when complete, restart the Mac normally, Apple menu > Restart

    install Keynote from the Mac App Store
    let us know if this helped

  • We had some accuracy issues with NI 5112 scope in one of the ATE and then I decided to perform self calibration using Labvidew vi to perform "niScope_CalSelfCalibrate(handle, "", 0);" function.

    We had some accuracy issues with NI 5112 scope in one of the ATE and then I decided to perform self calibration using Labvidew vi to perform “niScope_CalSelfCalibrate(handle, "", 0);” function.
    But it made it worse. I tried using option 2 to restore but it did not work.
    Could you pls advice me to resolve this issue.

    Hi Ana10,
    Are you using this digitizer with NI VideoMaster? if not you should probably post this in the Digitizer forums. That said I would suggest using the self calibrate function in MAX for this device rather than the LabVIEW API method just so that you can rule out any errors in correctly configuring the digitizer for self cal in LabVIEW. Also you should ensure that all inputs are disconnected before performing a self cal. If this still results in an error in calibration you could refer to the following document or arrange to return the digitizer to NI for external calibration.

  • I am trying to organize thousands of images in aperture.  The dates on the old scanned images is all 2008, when I started importing them.  When I change the date in aperture some of them hold the modified date and some revert to 2008.  Any ideas?

    I am trying to organize thousands of old images in aperture.  Aperture dates them all in 2008, when I started this project.  When I change the date in aperture some of them hold the modified date and some revert to 2008.  Any ideas?

      I just tried a test library, re-imported fresh images from a hard drive, and the date changes still revert.
    So neither your external drive nor your Aperture library are to blame.
    What do you mean test in a different user acct?  Would it be a good idea to uninstall and re-download aperture 3?
    Appreciate all your help.
    I meant the trouble shooting procedure described here:  Isolating an issue by using another user account
    To test, if some settings in your user account are faulty or preferences files corrupted, it helps to create a new user account from the "Users&Groups" System preferences. With a brand new user account you can see, if something in your current account is causing this.
    Should you see, that Aperture is not even working from a new and clean account, I'd reinstall Aperture, and if need be the Operating system.  Are you using any plug-ins?

    I can help you for the future.  Regularly back up your computer to an external hard drive (or cloud alternative).  If you have your library backed up, it could be reinstalled on your new computer.  In your current situation, you will have to reload all of your CDs as syncing of non-iTunes purchased music is only one way (Computer to iPod)

  • Issue with crystal's currentdate variable

    Hi all,
    I am trying to fix an old report. Here is the issue...this report is supposed to print last months data based on a create date.
    It has ' create date in the period LastFullMonth ' in the record selection formula..but it is printing dec 2009 data regardless of report run date. I looked at the sql generated by this report (database -> show sqi query) and it substituted create date >= dec 01 2009 and < jan 01 2010.
    I tried to print currentdate and it printed Jan 28 2010. Just to make sure there is nothing wrong with my system calendar, I created a new dummy report and printed currentdate on that report but it printed feb 08 2011 which is correct.
    I was under the impression that variables like currentdate actually look at the system date but this is weird. Does any one know the reason for this behavior?
    Appreciate ur help!
    Pree

    If CurrentDate is giving different results on 2 different reports then there's a good chance there's an issue specific to that 1 report and you probably couldn't reproduce it even if you tried. Sometime rpt files get corrupted and while I'm sure there's a reason I've never figured out why... It just happens.
    Before you go and start rebuilding the report from scratch, try replacing CurrentDate with Today or CurrentDateTime

  • Issue with Fiscal Year period - Variable

    Hello,
    I have requirement where I have two fiscal year variables selections available for the users. Both are independent to each other. FOR EX: A & B
    1ST Fiscal year period is straightforward. It is a single variable selection where User enters the fiscal year period then the Key figures data will be available to the user for that particular fiscal year what is selected in the variable screen.
    For ex: If user enters 01.2007 then the values will be only for that particular month/period
    However, the 2nd Fiscal year period user wants a Range (From and to). This is also a Single selection variable. Here user enters only TO value, which it should go and get the lower value from first variable screen and then it should take the higher value from the 2nd Variable screen and should calculate the result as a range.
    How this can be sorted? Can someone please help me to sort this Issue? If we need a customer exit, can you please give me some sample code?
    Thanks in advance
    Harish

    Hi,
    Create 3 variable
    One for from variable which will user input ZVAR1
    2nd to variable will be user input              ZVAR2
    3rd variable be variable exit type              ZVAR3
    In exit populate the VAR3 by reading the two user input variable.
    and use the option
    Try this:

  • Issue with FlowN activity distinct variables

    Hi Everybody,
    I have a FlowN activity, inside it I want to get values by calling a procedure.
    My plsql procedure takes 2 arguments and returns a name.
    arg 1 = my process input value (common for all branches created in FlowN)
    arg 2 = FlowN_1_Variable (flowN index value)
    The branches get create on FlowN, depends on my process i/o value. (Eg: process input = 3 , 3 branches get created in FlowN)
    1st branch ---> arg 1 = 3 (my process input), arg 2 = 1 (FlowN_1_Variable)
    2nd branch ---> arg 1 = 3 , arg 2 = 2
    3rd branch ---> arg 1 = 3 , arg 2 = 3
    Inside each branch I'm invoking (Invoke activity) my pl/sql procedure by passing 2 arguments (mentioned above) @ run-time, the issue is here
    all branches take the first branch values as arguments, like
    1st branch ---> arg 1 = 3 (my process input), arg 2 = 1 (FlowN_1_Variable)
    2nd branch ---> arg 1 = 3 , arg 2 = 1 but it supposed to get arg2 as 2
    3rd branch ---> arg 1 = 3 , arg 2 = 1 it supposed to get arg2 as 3
    This is issue only with Invoke actiivty,however if I print the values before or after the Invoke activity, the values are correct as I expected(different values are coming).
    I'm passing the values to FlowN thro' local variable inside my the scope.
    Please guide me.
    Thanks
    Viki

    Hi Marc,

  • Issue with Calendar prompt presentation variable

    Requirement: (OBIEE 11g)
    A dashboard should have two prompts - one calendar prompt and one text field prompt giving number of days. There is a timestamp column (SHIP DATE) in the analysis. There should be a between limit in this timestamp field. Logic to be implemented is - Calendar Prompt DateTime <= SHIP DATE < (Calendar Prompt DateTime + No. of days from text field).
    Solution Tried:-
    Using the dashboard prompt, two prompts and two corresponding presentation variables were created. First presentation variable is for calendar prompt timestamp (Date1) and other one is for no. of days (Num_Days) text field prompt.
    Then in the analysis, two filters were created on the Ship Date. First filter is set as 'Is Prompted' and it takes the values '<=' from calendar prompt in dashboard.
    For the other filter, I converted it to SQL and wrote the following:-
    "Time"."Ship date" <= (timestamp '@{variables.Date1}['YYYY-mm-DD HH:MM:SS']{2013-01-01  00:00:00}')  + @{variables.Num_Days}{30}
    The analysis runs fine for the above filters, but when run from the dashboard, it throws up an error.
    Error getting drill information: SELECT "Time"."SHIP DATE" saw_0, "Base Facts"."QUANTITY" saw_1 FROM "SHIPPING DATA" WHERE ("Time"."SHIP DATE" <= (timestamp '''2013-00-01 00:10:SS''') + 30) AND ("Time"."SHIP DATE" >= timestamp '2013-10-01 00:00:00').
    From the above it seems that error is coming because I am unable to set properly the calendar prompt presentation variable in a format which can be read by the analysis. Since analysis is running fine from the default value of Date1, I was thinking of somehow converting the calendar prompt presentation variable in the similar prompt.
    Any pointers to the correct approach?
    Thanks
    Kundan

    I found a workaround to my above issue for now but I would like to know the proper approach from experienced folks.
    My workaround is as follows:-
    I created an additional column in the analysis -> TIMESTAMPADD(SQL_TSI_DAY,- @{variables.Num_Days}{30}, "Time"."Ship date"). Then I applied a filter on this new field. The filter is set as < variable expression Date1 (coming from presentation variable). Since I am not converting this filter to SQL, OBIEE server seems to be taking care of timestamp format conversion.
    I think I need to study the logs and the config XMLs to see how date format is being stored to get a better solution.
    Regards
    Kundan

       The SupportMatrix class provides static variables and methods to simplify
       the determination of whether or not a given attribute is supported for a
       certain object type (queue manager, channel, etc.), depending on the version
       and platform of the queue manager to which it belongs.
       The SupportMatrix class may not be instantiated. Its constructor is private.
       An instance of the class is created internally in the static initializer so
       that the XML parsing methods are available.
       A corresponding XML document, SupportMatrix.xml, is parsed to create the various
       HashMaps which contain the version/platform dependency information. A number of
       inner classes are used to represent the various elements of the XML matrix
       definition.
       Here's a sample document:
       <!-- The supportmatrix tag opens the document -->
       <supportmatrix>
         <!-- Objects are keyed by classid. "1" is the classid of a queue manager object. -->
         <object classid="1">
           <!-- Versions group attributes according to the queue manager version where they
                were introduced. The "base" cmdlevel encompasses all versions up to 5.1. -->
           <version cmdlevel="base">
             <!-- Attributes are defined by the attr tag. -->
             <attr id="MQCA_Q_MGR_NAME">
               <!-- Support elements define the platform-specific requirements for an attribute. -->
               <support platforms="UNIX,WINDOWS,OS400,VMS,NSK" maxlen="48" type="MQCFST"/>
               <support platforms="MVS" maxlen="4" type="MQCFST"/>
             </attr>
             <attr id="MQCA_Q_MGR_DESC">
               <!-- Specific attribute characteristics, most notably maximum len for string parms,
                    are defined in the support element. As shown in the following example, it may
                    apply to all platforms. -->
               <support platforms="all" maxlen="64" type="MQCFST"/>
             </attr>
             <!-- Support elements are optional. -->
             <attr id="MQIA_PLATFORM"/>
             <attr id="MQIA_COMMAND_LEVEL"/>
           </version>
           <!-- The version element may 'include' other versions. Note that object elements
                may also refer to other objects via the 'include' parm of the object tag.
                This is to allow common attributes (especially for queues and channels) to
                be shared by multiple definitions in order to reduce some of the
                redundancy. -->
           <version cmdlevel="520" include="base">
           </version>
         </object>
       </supportmatrix>
       The inner classes, and their hierarchical relationships are as follows:
         SupportObject - corresponds to the <object> element. Stored in a static HashMap, and
                         keyed by classid.
           VersionObject - corresponds to the <version> element. Stored in a HashMap instance
                           variable of the SupportObject class, keyed by cmdlevel.
             AttributeObject - corresponds to the <attr> element. Stored in a HashMap instance
                               variable of the VersionObject class, keyed by attribute name.
               PlatformObject - corresponds to the <support> element. Stored in HashMaps belonging
                                to the AttributeObjects, keyed by platform. A single PlatformObject
                                instance is created when the support tag is encountered. The
                                "platforms" attribute of the support element is then processed. For
                                each platform in the comma-delimited list, an entry is added to the
                                collection of PlatformObjects. This is to greatly simplify later
                                lookups.
       In order to support the 'include' feature of object and version elements, certain
       functions are recursive. If the attribute to be validated is not found for the passed
       cmdlevel, the 'parent' VersionObject is consulted by means of the 'include' value. If
       the chain of VersionObjects has been exhausted and the attribute in question has still not
       been located, the next SupportObject in the chain is consulted in a similar fashion.

    Are you the one who commented out the code you're looking for ?//String desc = StringFactory.getString(attributes.getValue("desc"));You just have to modify you AttributeObject class to hold a new field : String description. And then, it's up to you to create a new constructor or a new setter method.
    Btw, this is not a Swing related question.

  • Issue in F4 help in variable screen of the report

    Hi All,
    I am facing an issue with Bex query, there are two navigational attributes in query, those are NAV1 and NAV2 and we have created two variable for these attributes,
    When we run the query in analyzer and in the variable screen we are trying to select values for these attributes from F4 help, we are able to see both the values in each attribute.
    For example NAV 1 has 100 vlues and NAV2 has 100 values, when we click on F4 help on the NAV1 attribute in variable screen we are able to see 200 entries, means it's including NAV2 values, it is vise-versa for the NAV2 attribute also.
    I ran the same report in RSRT and click on F4 help for NAV1 and NAV2 attributes, here entris are fine,each attribute showing only 100 entries.
    What could be reason for this issue.
    Could you please adivce me how to solve this.
    Thanks in advance,
    Venkat Kalla

    Hi,
    Please check Note 1495735 - 'check of changed records between DB and BIA after changerun'.
    If BIA is in use then this can be the cause.
    Otherwise check Note 1517248 - 'F4 help uses M mode instead of D mode for line item characteristic'.
    Finally, verify the read modes for both InfoObjects:

  • Issue with TestStand 2010 or 2012 hanging on the first step after continuously running TestStand?

    I am having issues with a CVI test sequence hanging in TestStand 2010 & 2012.  Currently, the only way to resolve this is to exit/close TestStand.  Following this we must replace the entire project with a backup project.  This only occurs about once a day or so with the sequence running continuously.  It will hang on the first or second step in the sequence, usually the first step.  The project uses several continuous XINET CAN messaging, so I wonder if this could be related to that.

    Yes, I have. It hangs at the first statement in the code after all the variable defines.  It does seem to be related to any particular statement, as we had skipped that test step, and then it hangs on the next step at the first statement.

  • Issue with LCM while migrating planning application in the cluster Env.

    Hi,
    Having issues with LCM while migrating the planning application in the cluster Env. In LCM we get below error and the application is up and running. Please let me know if anyone else has faced the same issue before in cluster environment. We have done migration using LCM on the single server and it works fine. It just that the cluster environment is an issue.
    Error on Shared Service screen:

    Hi,
    First of all, if your environment for source and target are same then you will have all the users and groups in shared services, in that case you just have to provision the users for this new application so that your security will get migrated when you migrate the from the source application. If the environs are different, then you have to migrate the users and groups first and provision them before importing the security using LCM.
    Coming back to the process of importing the artifacts in the target application using LCM, you have to place the migrated file in the @admin native directory in Oracle/Middleware/epmsystem1.
    Open shared services console->File system and you will see the your file name under that.
    Select the file and you will see all your exported artifacts. Select all if you want to do complete migration to target.
    Follow the steps, select the target application to which you want to migrate and execute migration.
    Open the application and you will see all your artifacts migrated to the target.
    If you face any error during migration it will be seen in the migration report..
    Thanks,
    Sourabh
