Issues in integrating 10.1.3 Application server with APEX

Hi
I want my apex applications to work both using 9iAS and 10gas (10.1.3). There is a requirement for this. So I am using this document

section 3.4.5.4
In 9iAS we used to define aliases for images in httpd.conf and dad setup in wdbsvr.app; looks like it is consolidated in to dads.conf now. So I put entries as per the document above.
1. What is the equivalent of cgi_env_list that exists in wdbsvr.app in dads.conf? I have to define this I think.
2. Similarly is their equvalent directive for stateful = STATELESS_RESET in dads.conf?
3. When I try to access the URL , I get this message in access log

I am able to connect to sqlplus from the middle tier where I am trying to set this up and tnsnames.ora exists. Not sure why it is complaining about listener on the client machine.

I solved 3. Basically I had wrong values for dbhost name :(

Strictly speaking you do not need Application Server or OHS for running Apex, you have an option in ApexListener. If it is a small installation then stick to EPG that comes built-in.
Try downloading the Oracle HTTP Server from here . You will need to check the commercial aspects yourself as OHS is not a free software for Production environment, AFAIK.

FIle Creation in the Application Server With Unicode-8 and Byte-Order Mark

Hi Guys,
I've requirement of creating a file in the Application server with the Data.
The Data Format Should be in UTF-8 and Byte-Order Mark.
I need to supply this data from SAP to PRMS.
I'm able to create a file with Unicode, but any of the guys have worked on Umicode with Byte-Order Mark, please let me know.

If you haven't found an aswer yet, you can check in transaction SE24 CL_ABAP_FILE_UTILITIES method CREATE_UTF8_FILE_WITH_BOM. You can check the code of the method (it's very short) so you can understand how it works. It's also a static method so you can call it directly in your program.
Ex:
CALL METHOD cl_abap_file_utilities=>create_utf8_file_with_bom(your_file_name).

Application Server for APEX

We have alredy APEX in use. Now we want to introduce a Application-Server on a SunOS (sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V240). The Question is: Witch program should we use from oracle "Application-Server"? It has many possibilities. Wath we wont to have is an easy Application-Server from Oracle. The Application run's only on LAN. The Application-server should only serve Applex with all the needet programms e.g. php.

Migration Issue:Urgent: Oracle 9i to 10g Application Server

Hi,
Using Oracle Jdev (ver 9.0.3.1) I have created a ear and want to deploy it in oracle application server 10g
(release 2). Will there be any issue during deployment or during run?

Generally speaking going up from 9i (902) to 10g (904) is very simple - going up to 10.1.2 of Forms would require a recompilation.
There are not really any "big" issues in moving to these versions.

Issue in downloading the file to application server (background)

i am downloading the PIR records to the application server.
the program is running fine .
i m using background coz i m downloading large no of records (>5000)
my actually target is 28000 records. we are spliting it up into atleast 7000 records at a time.
for 1000 records , it is taking     217 secs        (this is fine)
for 2000 records , it is taking    1647 secs        (not satisfactory)
for 5130 records , it is crossed more than 10647 secs   still running (not acceptabe)
why is it increasing in expotenial of time for increase in the records
why not ~1000 sec for 5130 records...??
somebody help me , the hav check the extended check and fine tuned the code.
it is a modification of standard program RM06IBIE for download of PIR records.

Hi,
It is definitely because of the poor performace in the code only.
Try using, FOR ALL ENTRIES, SORT BY key fields, DELETE ADJACENT DUPLICATES from the internal table COMPARING key fields, etc.
If you have already used all the possible ones, then check the table from which it is picking the data.
Whether they are using the primary key fields in the where condition, if they are using some other fields, then go for an option of secondary index if required.

Oracle report is not running on application server with more than 700 recod

I have developed oracle report using dev suite report builder. When I am running using report builder then its running fine. Whenever I am deploying on application server and trying to run then its not executing. Then I have deployed same report with less than 700 records then its run fine.
Please advice me if you have any solution

I have resolved this issue. This issue happen because of report server not able to handle large data. To resolve this issue I have made report server traces service off. Because of making traces off the report server fully utilized for report generation.

Developing for a Oracle Application Server with SSO

Hello there,
I'm developing an application (Java) that will be deployed as a partner application within an Oracle Application Server 10g at my client. This Oracle instance has a SSO already configured, and my app will use this Identity Manager (consuming the cookie). The problem is that at my company we don't have a SSO system configured, not even an Oracle Application Server, just a simple Oracle XE 10g to hold data. So I'm wondering how can I do to develop my application and test it.
I was looking forward to install an OAS and configure an SSO to validate my implementation, but the download link provided by Oracle is broken (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/index.html). Another alternative that I thought of was to install an OC4J and configure a Java SSO to simulate the behavior of OSSO, and make my app the cookie set by it. But OC4J supports only til Servlet 2.4 and my app is using 2.5...
And to complete, I cannot access my client's environment. I'm supposed to write a Deploying document telling him how to deploy my app and then try to access it through Internet.
Does anyone have an idea of how can I develop and test my app in my company's environment?

How to upload file on Application Server with Forms 6i?

Please, I need to upload .csv file from local to Application Server, I think to use .jsp application, but I don't know where I had to put it...Apache can't read .jsp file without Tomcat? If I launch my .jsp file from Apache/htdocs directory can't view .jsp code (Method Not Allowed)...method is POST...any idea? Thanks in advance!

Hi,
You could write a java bean to get the file from the client and to upload to App Server. And, you simply use it in Forms 6i.
Also, you could use d2kwutil (not tried though. you could search this forum and get an idea of that).
Of course, For your information, You could use WebUtil (in Forms 10g / 10.1.2) which has the functionality.

Copy file on application server with codepage changed

Hello Gurus,
I need to copy an existing *.csv file on the application server to a different location as a *.txt file with the code page UTF-8 /8400/ in the background.
Example:
I have a file with the name is: 'new.csv' in the DIR: '/SERVER/NEW'.
I need to convert the file to 'UTF-8' and copy to DIR: '/SERVER/ARCHIVE' with the name: 'archive.txt'
I was able to get the file via FM: DX_FILE_READ into an internal table. Now I tried to use GUI_UPLOAD, but failed due to the fact the GUI_UPLOAD will just upload a file from PC to an internal table. Additionally I need to run the report in background. So the FG: SFES will not do.
Could you please give me a hint on this?

You DONOT have to do any conversion. You need to use the CODE PAGE addition with your OPEN DATASET stmt.
Can you specify as to which Character Set you need to download? (e.g., Cyrillic, Greek, Polish etc)
You can have a look into the SAP Note 73606 for details.

It's not love at first sight, but I think i'm gonna fall in love with creator. my question is, is it possible to use/integrate a different application server into creator instead of Sun's Application Server. I prefer to use Jonas
