Issues with floated DIV layout

Hi I am having problems with my floated DIV layout on the following site in I.E 6/7 but not 8.
I have tried display: inline thinking it may be a margin/padding issue?
http://www.sopasbeauty.co.uk
what am I doing wrong, should I be adding clearfloats to separate area's of the page??
Mark

First, open the page in DW and use FILE | Convert > XHTML 1.0 Transitional.  Then try changing this -
<div class="boxes" id="box1">
      <h1>Acrylic Nails</h1>

  • Issue with container divs, and absolute/fixed positioning

    Hello everyone, I have an issue getting my divs to function properly. I have a container div and I want the table div to float inside (and move with page resize). Right now it doesnt move with the page (see photo).
    However, when I change the position to relative of that div, it moves under the container div and locks itself there.(Second photo)
    Any help would be great! Thanks!

    1) Padding is only placed on the top and/or bottom of the div. The elements within this div have padding on their sides. This saves you from any "box model math". Keep in mind, if you add any side padding or border to the div itself, it will be added to the width you define to create the *total* width. You may also choose to remove the padding on the element in the div and place a second div within it with no width and the padding necessary for your design.

  • Help with floating divs

    Hi All,
    I have given up on the liquid template and now started from scratch with fixed divs.
    My problem now is the floating elements.
    I adapted this layout to a adobe tutorial with less divs so the floats and clears that the tutorial said some dont work.
    Could someone look at my template and check the floating so as it sits like it does and wont move with content added.
    I want to add a horizontal spry navigation bar at the bottom like the top but when i add another div it moves eveything and i get an error about 3px line gaps.
    If I am not making sense please let me know
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    This is my code and css.

  • IE7 issue with Thumbnails div & Overflow

    this has to do with layout of the the gallery page and an IE7
    CSS issue.
    I was playing with the Photo gallery demo and decided to
    resize the thumbnails div to get different shape and found an issue
    with IE7 and the overflow. if the tumbnail div height is set to say
    100px, and set overflow:auto; it makes sense that the thumbnails in
    the bottom 3 rows would not be visible unless you scrolled the div.
    well it works fine in Firefox but IE draws thumbnails right
    over the height boundry and on into the next div below. I thought
    IE7 was supposed to fix the CSS hacks needed.
    what is the hack to fix this?

    It could be a function of how the script is written and
    changes being
    made at the object-level. Rather than set position to
    relative, you
    might try using the proprietary Microsoft zoom property to
    give the
    naughty container layout.
    your-container {zoom: 1;}
    If that doesn't work, then you can resort to position:
    relative.

  • Issue with Adobe Form Layout

    Hi,
    I have an issue with the Adobe Form Layout.Although I have added a field in the Context Menu of the Form Builder but the context has not been added to the Data View.
    Could you please help me to understand how to include the parameters and structures that we define in the context and add them to the Data View in layout?As far as I know, it is done automatically.But in this case I don't understand what the problem is.
    Please help me.
    Thanks,
    Sandeep.

    it is normally done automatically. Do ANY of your fields show in your DATA VIEW? Or, are you just missing the new one?
    If you're only missing the new one, make sure your Context has the field defined correctly and generated.. Then make sure you have updated the mapping in your View Context and generated that.
    After those 2 things, your field should now show.
    You cannot, as far as I know, define an attribute as any sort of TABLE - we have a common structure that has several Table Types in it. When we import that structure, we have to delete those attributes and create Nodes to mimick those tables.
    If you've accidentally included a Table type as an attribute, you won't see any fields in your Data View.
    EDIT: by the way, there's an Adobe Interactive Forms Forum where you should ask these kinds of questions.

    You can change this line to the model you were using before, ie in your case pc105:
    <merge key="input.xkb.model" type="string">keyboard</merge>
    It won't be used unless evdev isn't working though.
    i did that and restarted hal but nothing changed, the behaviour is the same

  • Need help with floating div's and clear property

    Link to page
    Link to CSS file
    I have the website currently setup as a 3 column website and everything is working fine.  I need to make some pages as a 2 column page with the left column having several "leftcolumn" div's stacked on top of each other so that there are several rounded box sections in the left column.
    I have the leftcolumn div floated left with a clear left to get the left column div's to stack on top of each other.
    The rightcolumn is floated right.
    How do I get my right column to align with the top of the first leftcolumn div?

    It's not always necessary to float every column.  One float is usually enough for a 2-column layout.
    Where you have this:
    #rightcolumn {
        width: 620px;
        float: right;
        color: #FFFFFF;
        font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
        color: #FFFFFF;
        font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
        padding: 10px;
        border:3px solid #5f605f;
        -moz-border-radius:20px;
        -webkit-border-radius:20px;
        -opera-border-radius:20px;
        -khtml-border-radius:20px;
        border-radius:20px;
        background-color: #858586;
        font-size: 12px;
        margin: 10px;
    Change it as follows:
    #rightcolumn {
    /**REMOVE ALL THIS**/
        width: 620px;
        float: right;
        color: #FFFFFF;
        font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
        color: #FFFFFF;
        font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
        padding: 10px;
        border:3px solid #5f605f;
        -moz-border-radius:20px;
        -webkit-border-radius:20px;
        -opera-border-radius:20px;
        -khtml-border-radius:20px;
        border-radius:20px;
        background-color: #858586;
        font-size: 12px;

  • Issues with 1099 form layout for 'IDWTCERT_US_1099MISC1'

    Hi All
    I applied OSS note 1535966 a week ago & we tried to print the 1099 MISC report.  When I use the 'Form 2' option, I am facing 2 issues.
    1. When the vendor master has PO box number, the PO box number overlays on the 'Street address' field.  I have opened a OSS note with SAP to help us.  SAP asked me to apply version 3 of OSS note 1535966 but that did not help.  Not sure if anyone else faced this same issue.
    2. The right side of the form 'IDWTCERT_US_1099MISC1' seems to be cut off by a centimetre.  I did read in some of the forums that this was fixed by OSS note 1546868 but we run ECC 6.0 & when I applied 1546868, it messed up the amount fields in box number 7.  So we cannot use this new OSS note.  But if I print this form using PDF creator, it looks perfect.  I then assumed that I will need to use BASIS help to fix my printer but someone else had already tried this & it did not work for them.
    Smartforms layout printing diffrent in diffrent printer
    But someone else (Kenneth Goldstein) says he fixed this issue in the following thread with OSS note 1546868.
    USA 1099 Misc - Unable to print forms.
    So I am not sure how to fix this issue. can someone help?
    If anyone faced similar issues & have a solution, please let me know.  If you are still having this issue, let us hope someone here in the forum/SAP is able to help.
    Thanks

    Hi Chanh
    I have not come upto the level of testing the file generated with IRS.  Will keep you posted what happens there.
    Shannon,
    Apparently the new version of 1546868 fixes the issue for box number 7.  But if the amounts are huge in box numbers 1 or 3 or 15a (they use these in my client) then the amount overflows to the nearby box.  So we have again opened an issue again with SAP & will keep you posted withwhat SAP comes up with.
    Thanks
    Regards

  • Issues with one DIV inheriting things from another, wrongly

    Not sure what is going on, but I'm at wits end.
    Here's the site in question, although I'm having this same problem on another.
    http://www.neebackflow.com/index.html
    The topmost links, contact us, about us, etc. are in a DIV:
    Here's what it's shown in the CSS palette
    .oneColElsCtrHdr #container #header #sub-links
    The very bottom most links, all content © 2011 etc. are in another DIV:
    .oneColElsCtrHdr #container #bottomstuff
    I styled the "bottomstuff" with the usual a:link, a:visited, a:active and a:hover.
    Works perfect.
    But, the "sub-links" at the top has adopted the same color and behavior!!!  I don't see any way that is possible. Both DIVS have a unique name,
    One has #header in it, one doesn't, but should that matter? I didn't think so.
    Since I use a bunch of absolute positioned DIVS for the various elements, I usually base them all off of either Container div, or the Header div.
    I did a similar layout the other day, and it too was acting this way. Never has in the past.
    Any insights?

    Thanks for the reply. I did just start combining link, active, visited in one...got tired of making 4 separate style sheets for every div I wanted different link styles.
    You are saying that's wrong, and I should stick with making 4 separate styles? One each?
    You don't need separate stylesheets for every div.
    Grouping selectors is fine. Just group them using the full descendant path for each selector.
    My notes have always said the order is link, visited, active, hover...
    without doing a google search, you are saying it should be: link, visited, hover, active?
    a:link is the default starting state ( = unvisited)
    Then you mouseover a link ( = a:link plus a:hover )
    When you click an unvisited, hovered link, a:link, a:hover and a:active apply simultaneously.
    When you return to the page and look at the link you most recently clicked, a:link no longer applies since the page is now in the browser history. It's starting state is now always a:visited until the browser history is cleared.
    So the cycle of states is L-H-A then V-H-A then V-H-A etc.
    In CSS, when specificity is identical (which is the case for all pseudo-classes link, visited, hover, active), the last rule listed in the CSS wins and takes effect on screen.
    With CSS listed as L-V-A-H, the active state will never be seen because it'll always be trumped by hover (and it's very brief anyway).
    L-V-H-A is the best order (L and V are interchangeable since a link cannot be unvisited and visited simultaneously)
    So
    L-V-H-A and V-L-H-A will both work but L-V-H-A is normal since it follows a logical order.
    Also, while I have you here, what is the proper way to make a new style in DW?
    To be honest, I write mine by hand in Code View. Much quicker that way. I find the DW interface cumbersome for writing CSS.
    Since they get to be quite long, I developed a habit of using the "less specific" button and knocking back at least one level to something like:
    #container #bottomstuff
    Is that wrong too? Should I always leave the full line of hierarchy?
    It may work but it may also depend on the specificity of the CSS and the design of the rest of the page.
    Very specific ( = longer) rules target very specific areas on the page.
    CSS works on cascade, inheritance and specificity simultaneously.
    Longer descendant rules usually mean higher specificity which trump more general shorter rules.
    If you want every paragraph on a page to be blue then p {color: blue; } or #container p {color: blue; } works.
    If you want every paragraph in #bottomstuff only to be red then #container #bottomstuff p { color: red; } trumps the blue rule because of higher specificity.
    If you want a specific paragraph in the sidebar only in #bottomstuff to be green then you go more specific again to trump the red rule
    #container #bottomstuff #sidebar p { color: green; }
    So, the rules are getting longer to write out, but there's a design reason for doing so.

  • Xfce issue with the keyboard layout

    Hello all
    I'm trying to configure my keyboard for another layout, but i just can't seem to do it, i've searched the xfce wiki and all
    The thing is, i'm doing these changes on the evdev file because i have no xorg-conf file, it's a directory not a file, and in the wiki they say this:
    Add the XkbLayout Option to your xorg.conf-file. Here is an example if you want to use german and russian keyboard-settings:
      Section "InputDevice"
      Identifier  "Keyboard0"
      Driver      "kbd"
           Option      "XkbModel" "pc105"
           Option      "XkbLayout" "de,ru"
      EndSection
    While my edev file usually looks like this
    Section "InputClass"
            Identifier "evdev keyboard catchall"
            MatchIsKeyboard "on"
            MatchDevicePath "/dev/input/event*"
            Driver "evdev"
    EndSection
    And i changed it to:
    Section "InputClass"
            Identifier "Keyboard0"
            MatchIsPointer "on"
            MatchDevicePath "/dev/input/event*"
            Driver "evdev"
            Option "XkbLayout" "pt"
            Option "XkbModel" "pc105"
    EndSection
    Really need a little hand here, thanks in advance

  • Issue with Customised Report Layout for Freezing Panes in a Tabular Form

    Hi,
    I am quite new to Oracle APEX. Any help would be great.
    When I create a Report Template in the Shared components of my application, I do not find it listed in the Report Templates when i navigate to the report regions of my application and so I am not able to choose the customized Template for my reports. I am customizing in order to get scrollable reports in my application, followed the steps provided in the Thread, http://kr.forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=2180543&start=0&tstart=0 .
    I am now listing the Steps in followed to create a Report Layout,
    Navigate to Shared components > Templates > Report
    Create From Scratch and paste the code as mentioned in the Thread.
    Apply changes and save it. But when i Navigate to a report in the Application I do not find this Listed.
    Thanks,
    Ramya

    Yes you can make a process that reads the apex_application.g_fnn arrays and insert your row manually but that's a lot of work.
    For what you're doing it doesn't sound like the standard CRUD processes should have a problem with it. On your button-click if it's doing a redirect and not some kind of submit, it's possible then that the value isn't making it into session state and therefore not getting included in the DML. Are you sure it's getting into session state?

  • Issue with 100% responsive layout not being responsive

    I'm trying my first tesponsive design in Edge Animate. It's a simple one. It's just a series of 203x203px images layed out in 5 rows of four columns. 20 images in all. I have the stage set up at 100% width and 1015px height and each image is set at 100% width and height. Each image is nested in a symbol so I can do rollover and touch effects and that's set at 203px width and height for each one. Mimimum width is set at 280px and Max width can't be set in An. I'm using the Scale Position on each symbol to make it all responsive on each image which is in a symbol. So the symbol has the preset. Not the image insside of the symbol.
    Issue I have is that it's responsie to a point. When I drag my browser, the padding (margin?) between each symbol shrinks or grows, but the images stay the same height and width. So they start running into one another. How can I make it work where the images get smaller or larger depending on the screen size?

    Thank you Sarah
    The Edge Animate Wizards will have to pour in a few drops of their magic potion as usual, to get around the shortcomings of the evolving HTML standard.
    I am aware there will be many more pressing (as well as preferable) and urgent things to take care of, like adding features to the UI, extend capabilities to make EAn more powerful (I'd like to some sweet additions like "canvas" myself! ), smoothing workflow and integration with other app in the adobe ecosystem, so thank you 2x for your reply about this nice to have fix
    In all that I wonder if someone has some time to dedicate some TLC to the documentation (like listing all the API instructions available in a better way, maybe even searchable like the jQuery API documentation) and integrate "dos and don'ts". Would be nice to have a reference like that available in flash (hey not expecting that by next week, but would be nice to know it's in the works to be added in future versions *hint-hint, nudge-nudge" :P)
    Cheers!

    Hi,
    I tried the following code. Float.parseFloat("23d")does not throw an exception. The below code prints output as 23.0.
    String s = new String ("23d");
    try{
    System.out.println(Float.parseFloat(s));
    catch(Exception e){
    System.out.println("not a number..");
    How can I make Float.parseFloat("23d") throw an exception? Please help.
    thanks.
    roshni.

    here the d determine that this is double variable.
    so this is not give any exception.
    if you use any other character then it throw the exception.

  • Issue with setting float point in Textfield

    hi
    i have an issue with float input in a textfield.
    what i want to do is.
    when the user start typing numerics it should accept from right hand side and keep appending value from right hand side.
    for ex
    if i want to enter 123.45
    user starts entering
    1 then it should display as 0.01
    2 then it should display as 0.12
    3 then it should display as 1.23
    4 then it should display as 12.34
    5 then it should display as 123.45

    when the user start typing numerics it should accept from right hand side and keep appending value from right hand side.
    first the default value should be as 0.00 and as the user starts entering
    then it is as follows
    for ex
    if i want to enter 123.45
    user starts entering
    1 then it should display as 0.01
    2 then it should display as 0.12
    3 then it should display as 1.23
    4 then it should display as 12.34
    5 then it should display as 123.45
    i hope u will give me quick reply because this is very hard time for me.

  • Floating divs of different heights

    I have a layout that a client requires that is 3 columns wide
    I am trying to set it up with floating divs and the divs have different heights.
    What is the best way to lay this out and is it possible to use Edge Reflow to do this as when I lay out the divs at my starting resolution and then start to change it for media queries the divs move from their starting positions.
    Hope it clear what I'm trying to achieve.
    Would I be better using Dreamweaver to do this than edge reflow?
